I love this place. Breakfast, brunch, lunch or dinner it never let's you down.
Their bacon sandwiches are legendary. Their poached eggs on avocado with bacon are a delight of salty and creamy. Their pop-ups - such as their Nyonya laksa nights on Thursdays, Wednesday Van Dough nights or guest appearances from Pakistani cooks offer an incredible choice of diverse yet universally excellent food.
Great, great cakes too. They make temptation win every time; I'm yet to not cave in.
The coffee too - incredible. And all that served with a smile? I'm sold.
A couple of friends of mine just moved down the road from St David and it's pretty much the perfect hole in the wall place to have as your local coffee shop. Pint sized and crammed with second hand furniture, it offers up food options limited to sandwiches and cakes. I had a pastrami and gherkin sandwich which was huge; the meat was ever so slightly too tough (which made it a tricky and far from dignified eat) but overall I was happy. The coffee is great though, and at £2 for a long black, was perfectly priced.
They have a couple of tiny tables outside but there's enough sun in the front half of the room to make it light and airy. Each time I've been in there's been someone working on a laptop in there so clearly they don't mind lingerers either...
St David - long known to all as the patron saint of Wales - now for me has become synonymous with something else; Forest Hill, excellent coffee and BACON SANDWICHES!!!!!!
St David Coffee House is a small local cafe located in the bustling Forest Hill high street area and is founded and run by 3 friends. This is important because walking into St David's, you can feel the thought and care that has gone into the decor of the place which makes it rather special.
All that swooning aside, St David has firmly placed itself at the top of the list to grab a good coffee in Forest Hill to either take away and run to the station across the road, or sit down and people watch.
My preferred option is to sit in and let time pass me by with a Square Mile flat white and one of their INSANE bacon sandwiches! I really am in love with this bacon sandwich and think it is one of the best value in town if not the best! The portions of bacon are so generous that to call it a bacon sandwich would be false advertising; it should really be called a sandwich bacon. This sandwich...ugh...hungry now just thinking about it.
For those who are not fans of swine, there is also an extensive collection of freshly baked cakes and pastries which will satisfy your cravings and recently, St David have started to stock items from the renown London bakers, Kooky Bakes' range which is great news for all.
Sorry Wales, but it looks like St David has decided to take up residence in Forest Hill and here's hoping it's for the long term.

Cosy atmosphere and lovely coffee! Thumbs up!
A true gem, tasty pastries and perfect coffees. The atmosphere is also just so lovely both in the summer and winter with the outdoor space and the cosy room downstairs. But by far the best part are the lovely staff that work there, all of them are just so enthusiastic and friendly and just good energy and always make me smile!! Whoever’s hiring for st David’s did so perfectly xx
Such a beautiful little cafe, I was attracted by the Wisteria outside but the coffee is delicious, the vibe very friendly and welcoming. Look how handsome the focaccia is (and so tasty). Sorry I didn’t take a picture of the Wisteria.
Fantastic coffee shop and the food is amazing. The biggest selling point is the gorgeous log fire. The coffee is very good quality and obviously a local favourite. Dog friendly. Only negative for me was that there were no herbal teas, even decaf tea and coffee have caffeine-free so difficult for those who can’t drink any caffeine. Piccalilli toastie was divine!
True meaning of a local coffee shop!
Coffee is one of the best in London and their baked goods, in particular the banana bread, are delicious. Staff are also amazing, incredibly friendly and kind.
Lovely little cafe, had a really nice flat white here and a nice brunch for 6.50 of poached egg on really nice granary bread with avocado and crispy bacon. The bacon could have been a bit more flavourful but that's probably because I'm used to the unhealthy smoked kind. It all smelled amazing though. There was also good music and cool illustrations featured throughout the place. Recommend when you're in the area or as a quick pit stop on the way to the Horniman museum.
A magic coffee house with great espresso coffee in a cute old house with a little terrace out front. Probably one of the best coffees in South London. Only downside is that it’s on the side of a main road so it can be noisy outside.
Consistently friendly service along with excellent coffee and delicious, fresh food. I tend to visit here whenever I come to Forest Hill and recommend it to people whenever I know they're in the area.
Great place with amazing coffees and breads.
Quite possibly the best smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel in the world.
Nice place, nice food, nice coffee and really nice people
Fantastic coffee and really delicious flakey pastries. Staff are friendly and welcoming - it's a hidden gem in the area
Seriously good coffee . Amazing baked goods . Stripped down decor .
A gem .
My go to local coffee shop. Friendly staff and good coffee. The food is damn good too.
St. David's is the best coffee shop in Forest Hill. Not only is the coffee excellent, the cakes and bread are delicious and the service is top quality - the welcome is always warm and friendly. I highly recommend the toasted banana bread, almond croissants, and the white sourdough loaves.
Great coffee, great service... Perfect for an after ride coffee stop.
Best coffee in Forest Hill and excellent toasted banana bread
Best coffee for over a square mile, best brunch this side of Brooklyn, cakes baked with love, some of the best staff in town and the owner... bazinga!! St D's4life !
Great coffee and a lovely local business in Forest Hill and Brockley. It was great to see the owners putting their staff first and closing/reducing hours in the recent extreme heat. Like other conscientious businesses the reduced hours were publicised on social media well in advance.
