Lovely food, lovely service, lovely settings! ❤️
Best Chinese Restaurant in London
Spacious, neat and clean. Welcoming and well trained staff. We had our lunch outside. The atmosphere is nice. There is a variety of tasty Chinese food. Crispy noodles tasted super. Excellent service.
Come after 3 years. On Sat And Sun they have a domain menu which you can tick and choose form.
They had a decent range of Veggie dim sums.
The service was very good and fast. They were considerate towards their customers unlike some of the other eateries in the area.
Going to come again to try some of the other items on the menu.
Bought a groupon voucher to experience dim sum in a fine londoner restaurant. Was there for my 40th birthday and i was amazed with the quantity and quality of the food. It's the best dim sum i ever tasted.
To repeat.
On a rather sunny day, we attended a radiant wedding at Bright Courtyard. On such a glamorous occasion, I felt that I had to turn up with my big sparkly camera. Hopefully, the food will look more true to life because I am making the effort. Suckling pig with jelly fish. The pig was crispy and tasty, and the jelly fish was soft and squishy.
The beef cheong fun was good, but I found the layer of rice noodle a tad too thick. Xiao long bao could possibly be one of the best I had in London, it held their broth and the skin were thin. I liked the turnip crispy puff, it was crispy and the filling was flavoursome. Other classics such as cha siu bao, chicken feet and scallop dumplings passed muster. Although the one relative let down was the side chopped up youtiao (Chinese fried dough stick) that came with the congee. By re-frying the youtiao, it lost its freshness and the texture becomes hard.
I had an incredible meal here, the sort of meal that the next day I woke up still thinking about it. In my view this is one of the best Chinese restaurants in London. Bright Courtyard is located in London (on Baker Street) and in Shanghai (where the original restaurant opened in 1997) and is part of the Shanghai Life Fashion Group that owns other restaurants and hotels and whose motto is “innovation, style and quality”, which you can definitely see in the food. London’s Bright Courtyard is a contemporary Chinese restaurant that specializes in authentic dim sum, modern Cantonese and traditional Shanghai cuisine with a twist. I went to Bright Courtyard on a Friday evening as my boyfriend was craving some Chinese food, and I told I would only go to Bright Courtyard, as I had already reviewed the other Chinese restaurants close to us. We arrived there at 7.30
Bright Court offers what a lot of other Chinese restaurants don’t; a tranquil environment and chaos-free service. Not only that, it also serves a range of dishes – some authentic, some fusion – that you might not have seen before, as well as the usual suspects. Plates are dressed in an elegant style, which makes the most of the meals that might otherwise come presented in a standard Asian canteen style. Classic dishes like pan-fried turnip patties and BBQ pork buns are a great way to start-off a meal. The patties are oozing with flavour and have a crunchy exterior to hold the wobbly treat together. The buns have the expected rich meaty filling, enveloped in the deep viscous sauce that makes them so more-ish; great stuff. Though, it’s the additions to the menu that really make Bright Courtyard a great place to eat. The intricately layered steamed Malaysian sponge cake is one of them. Delicately flavoured with coconut and spices, this eggy sponge is as light as it is a feat of culinary e
I’d been having an after-hours manicure in the office, as you do and C was in the market for food. This is C- nails not C- husband . C-nails is that manicurist overlap in the Venn diagram between myself and E, who sometimes appears on these pages and who works in the same building as Bright Courtyard. Some time ago, E booked it for us. Wearing my Cynthia Selfish hat, I’d told her that I’d heard it wasn’t that great and on the back of that she cancelled and we ended up at my old stand-by, Pheonix Palace . Her other half had recommended Bright Courtyard, but I was sceptical. It looked cold and empty, not to mention expensive and I hadn’t heard anyone say it was worth a try. So it was that I had made up my mind about Bright Courtyard, without actually walking through the door. But last week, having done the OpenTable scroll of sadness ...
Left: Shanghai Dumplings aka Xiao Long Bao; Right: King Prawn Dumplings aka Har Gau Left: Sea Bass Roll; Right: Scallop Siu Mai Left: Black Sesame Balls; Right: Snow Fungus in Papaya Sweet Soup Go, just go. Surely the photos have already convinced you. I won't bang on about Bright Courtyard too much, but its dim sum is amongst the best in London . The xiao long bao were the best I've had in London whilst the har gau and scallop siu mai were top notch, too. Other classics such as fried cuttlefish cake , cha siu bao and cheung fun passed muster, although the one relative let-down was the pedestrian wu gok (taro croquette). And let's not forget the braised e-fu noodles , which were also, you guessed it, pretty tasty! Going slightly off-piste, I preferred the deep-fried almond prawn balls with its soup filling to the deep-fried prawn & mango dumpling . However, both were eclipsed by the exemplary sea bass roll ; crispy fish wrapped around julienned mooli (and other stuff) sat in a Sichuan
Fine dining to the max! Slow service on food - £50 average cost per person so thankfully I was invited to this place. Cause I would have definitely spent 50 quid on something so much better!! But I must admit the crunchy beef dish I had was too good!! And so were the sesame breaded prawns for starters!
Visited reasonable early on a Saturday but restaurant still had people and was reasonably busy. Couple of quick points before we get to the service and food. As you enter there is a fancy umbrella stand with locks and keys. But rather than use this the proper way they just hook your umbrella on to the key and leave it. A waste I think but hey it was funny to watch. Menus presented on ipads but not as user friendly as a normal printed menu. Service was good and food was presented very quickly. Food tasted great and would recommend to others. Just for mains with no starter or dessert or wine comes in around £20 per head. Also be careful where they sit you as I sat to the far back by the windows and on a cold day this area felt colder than outside. Dessert menu presented on a laminated sheet which I felt was a let down and some staff more pleasant than others. Overall however I would go again.
I second the review below - ended up here after being fed up of the Royal China table-fiasco (Sundays..)
The food is fantastic in my opinion. The dishes look like art on a plate, and taste as good! I would highly recommend the crispy noodles, and spicy chicken. Their wine list is extensive, but the staff are clueless when asked for recommendations. Nevertheless, the ambience and food makes this place worth a visit!
Im so pleased that Royal China across the road didn't have a table so we were forced to go here.
Bright courtyard, in my opinion, does the best Chinese food I've ever tasted. The enoki mushroom with tofu, sea salt asparagus, spicy Aubergine and the crispy noodles are amazing. I'm vego so don't know what their extensive meat and seafood menu tastes like but the dishes look amazing.
With menus on iPads and a wall covered with wine choices, this place is super chic. They also serve up splendid macaroons for dessert.
The only word of caution, if you're trying to do a take away, staff seem to almost always get the order wrong (I've had 4 such experiences)
Went for a dim sum lunch with some friends and we tried out a few dishes - all very good! The crayfish is a new dish and my friends all love it! Personally the pickle cabbage is one of my favourite dish!.
Very nice environment and comfortable seating. Service is good and staff are attentive. We came here for the dim sum. All are very delicate and taste original. Price is reasonable especially weekday lunch they are offering 30% disc which is very value for money. Highly recommend !
I've heard about the "Hermes Hot Pot" at Bright Courtyard Club before, but I haven't had a chance to try it yet. Now they've introduced a £36 dim sum set menu for two people, which is quite a rare find for affordable Cantonese dim sum in the city center. Additionally, there's a 20% discount on dim sum every day until 4 pm from Monday to Friday, so it's still a good deal even if you don't go for the set menu.
🦞 They also offer huge crayfish with claws larger than regular crayfish, and the meat is plump and chewy. It's a delightful experience enjoying such fresh crayfish, but it's better to call ahead and reserve them as they might not have them available every day.
✨ Here are some recommended dim sum items:
🍳 Egg tarts: These are like the "London version of Chinese KFC egg tarts," with a crust that resembles the aroma of KFC's pastry. The filling is rich and creamy, not too sweet.
🌰 Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings): The skin of the dumplings is thin, and they are filled with flavorful soup and good-quality meat without any fishy taste. Be careful when picking them up, as they might break easily.
🥬 Shanghai Spicy Cabbage: This dish is sweet and sour, very delicious, and reminiscent of a small summer salad marinated in Sprite. It's a must-have for the hot season.
🍖 Sweet and Sour Spare Ribs: A classic Shanghainese dish with an authentic taste, it disappears from the table almost instantly.
🦐 Crystal Prawn Dumplings: Their prawn dumplings are larger than those in regular dim sum places, with plump and firm shrimp meat.
🐚 Scallop Siu Mai: Topped with a large piece of scallop, which is very fresh, and with bursting fish roe, it's a satisfying treat.
🦐 Chive and Shrimp Dumplings: The chive flavor is strong, and the shrimp is sizable.
🦞 Crayfish: Available in two flavors, non-spicy and mildly spicy. We wore gloves and enjoyed peeling the crayfish, which had plenty of meat inside the claws and were easy to peel thanks to their thin shells.
It’s my favourite Chinese restaurant in London, the food is delicious.
Back in 2017, I went to Bright Courtyard Club in an the Fall and I felt in love with their food since then. My favourite dish is the Sliced Lotus Root in Honey Sauce.
They have a super nice and cool manager and she’s always so nice and patient to the customers. They also have some fresh seafood such as lobsters and crabs, and they are Cantonese people’s favourite.
They also have fresh juice, most of the time freshly squeezed orange juice, sometimes, watermelon juice.
It’s not just about the mouth watering food, I think you can feel the passion from their stuff and they are always so ready to help you with smile not poker face.
The environment and location are also pretty decent, next to DE Shaw and Brevan Howard, and if you are getting tired of the investment life, you can just walk downstairs and try some authentic Chinese cuisine.
It’s very difficult for a business to survive during the COVID, but they had a great management and survived.
I have been there >30 times and always bring a few friends to go with me. Guess you should definitely try.
Visited on a Monday afternoon, was about to go to royal China but got attracted by the £36 for two people dim sun set. Didn’t expect anything and was so surprised by the quality of the food!! Not only the portion was just enough, we also enjoyed literally every single course, and felt like it was too good for the price haha. The environment was good and quiet. We also ordered beef Cheung fun, it didn’t disappoint us either, freshly cooked and very flavourful.
Quite nice Shanghainese restaurant in London, with really nice crab dishes with rice cake.
Friendly staff , good taste , nice environment, definitely will come again !

The sweet and sour chicken had a crispy layer coated in tangy sauce as well as the crunchy and soft veggies and fruits like lychee and peppers. The steamed sea bass was fresh and tender the sweetness I was elevated by ginger and soy sauce.

Very polite staff.
A lot of Chinese customers which is a good sign.
A variety of authentic Chinese cuisine.
Food is good but the price is above average.
Had the Dim Sum tasting menu today. Great food with affordable prices. Staff all quite friendly and attentive too. Will definitely come back to try some more dim sums
Excellent Shanghai cooking restaurant, the real deal, exactly as you would get in China (although there you would probably pay a fraction of the price). The lobster is fantastic, and almost any dish you order there will be amazing.
The only “but” I can think of is the quality of the service and the location compared with the price you are paying. You can easily end up paying in the order of 100gbp per person in this restaurant, but the atmosphere is not that great and the service is just okay. I would not recommend for a romantic date or for a special occasion, there are much better places in London that give you a much better experience.
My favourite Chinese restaurant with amazing hot pot.
Near the Hyatt Churchill so we went for dinner. In a quieter area. Nice. We had a few language issues but if all worked out. The food was very good. Authentic Chinese. Most of the patrons were Asian as well. The Kung Pao chicken was as spicy as you’d ever want it. Not clear if they have a bar. We saw one but waiter said they don’t make cocktails.
Best Chinese restaurant I ever tried in London so far!
I have been here several times. Excellent environment and friendly staffs; one of the nice Chinese restaurants in London. Foods are mostly Cantonese style and delicious.
One of the best authentic Chinese restaurants with surprisingly good service. Kept clearing our dirty plates. Food was not too oily and all delicious. Apparently they have a secret seahorse soup off menu but we couldn’t get it today. Recommend the lobster, pork belly and the wagyu beef
