Hidden GemPerfect spot for afternoon tea, networking, or even a date. The scones with cream and jam were fantastic. Superb spread of desserts, biscuits, cakes, and all sorts of other goodies. The Wallace Collection is actually national museum in an historic town house filled with French 18th-century painting, furniture, etc. and the dining area is in the courtyard of the house. There is a glass roof, so London weather won't take away from the experience.
Hidden oasis just stone throw away from chaos of oxford street. Ambience here is top notch with surrounding of great art and sky above under the conservatory.
Service was impressive. Cocktails were great while food menu had enough variety to pick from. Price fix menu is great value.
One of the things I love about London is the many free museums and art galleries that one can go to and spend a few happy hours at. Hertford House which houses The Wallace collection is nestled in a quiet street just off the buzzing Oxford Street. The stunning historic townhouse is home to 25 galleries housing everything from world class armoury to Old Masters paintings.

After spending a couple of hours admiring the collection, I decided with my friend to relax in the courtyard indulging in an afternoon tea. We were lucky as there was plenty of space and got seated immediately. We treated ourselves to Cornish Cream Teas with an Earl Grey and a Lapsang Souchong. After a bit we were informed that the Lapsang wasn't available. Having switched to an Assam the teas arrived after a good while, with no milk. We had to ask three times for it to be brought at the table and it took them 30 minutes to do so. The scones and sandwiches arrived in 20. The quality is high, but the service is a complete disaster and some of the waitresses are absolutely patronising. I enjoyed the taste of the tea and the food but I will avoid in the future if I want to have a good time.
After reading the London Easters blog of the Wallace restaurant, and hearing from so many friends that the museum itself is well worth a visit. The museum is set within the old London town house of the Wallace family. A super über cool family, who knew th
As architecturally clever and stunning London is, one would never really think of it as a romantic city. Yes, there are some great views to be had of the city's historic skyline, but the second the slightest whiff of luurve hits the air, a sudden downpour
The Wallace Restaurant has two sections – a very casual café with a less expensive and smaller menu – which is good for a light lunch or snack, and the restaurant with a more up market menu and prices. Both occupy the same sunny space. On this day I decid
A glorious garden setting under a vast glass roof and surrounded by trees and beautiful paintings and sculptures. The Wallace provides a welcome restful haven so close to Oxford st. At night the dark skies through the roof above can provide for a perfect romantic evening meal.
The service is brilliant; full knowledge of all their food and wine and always available to see to your every need.
Food presentation and taste is of course done to perfection.
Fantastic light bathed place! a choice between faster bistrot or à la carte.
I personally come for the mussels, fast and good.
I always stop to watch Louis the Xiv painting , the only one picturing Monsieur his older son.
Otherwise, stop for the cup and saucer from Franklin mispelled! beautiful furnitures, arms and paintings on the top floors...
A romantic and quiet hidden place that serves everything from breakfast, brunch, afternoon tea to dinner and cocktails!

I discovered this refined restaurant near Oxford Street quite by accident whilst wandering around the beautiful Wallace Collection rooms and displays some months ago, and heartily recommend it.
The dining room is what was originally the central quadrangle of the impressive Stately Home which houses the collection. The glass roof gives an airy and seasonal feel to the dining experience which nicely compliments the opulent feel lent to the restaurant by the lavishly furnished rooms through which you must pass to take your seat.
The menu is carefully chosen, offering afternoon teas, light lunches and more substantial fare. The menu guides the diner to a highly enjoyable meal, neither too substantial nor too little. Service is slow but polite and deferential. The wine list is excellent.
The steep price tag of dining at the Wallace Collection is well justified by the excellent food and indulgent experience, though it is not, perhaps, an everyday venue.
First time having afternoon tea. £35 per person is quite expensive imo considering what they offer, but I guess that's the price for this experience. Tea was tasty and the service was good.
Location is good as well, and the atmosphere is lovely.
This is a review for the collection and not the cafe. If you are interested in arms and armour at all, this is well worth a visit. Such a display of swords, armour, guns etc from all over the world and through the centuries.
Very tasty, this destination was on my "London bucket list " and I was not disappointed. There were 4 of us and we forgot to book in advance. When we arrived, the very friendly waiters told us that it takes 1h until a table is free again.
So we passed the time in the Wallace Museum, which has a great selection of various very antique pieces.
The Afternoontea was great, we ate nothing before this teatime, nevertheless we did not feel hungry.
The tea I don't remember which one I took was very tasty. I will gladly visit you again.
By the way, this tea party takes place in a covered courtyard, so it's a perfect activity for a rainy day.✨
Set in the central courtyard the restaurant is wonderful. We had something different and everybody’s was good well presented and extremely tasty. The service was punctual and friendly.
Afternoon tea here was a reasonable price and a great experience. Everyone was kind and the space was beautiful! The art museum was free and gorgeous! Would recommend!!
Nice atmosphere
We had a long lunch
Perfect environment
Do make reservations.
One of the best afternoon tea that I had.
The price is very affordable especially giving such a nice environment and great variety of food.
The tea is also decent. The service is very attentive. I enjoyed my time with my friend and I’ll definitely comeback again
Small but worth a visit. Ideal presents. Easy
access.
I love the Wallace Collection, but this visit was the first time we visited the Wallace Café.
We arrived at lunchtime but they were happy for us just to have coffee and a cake.
The resteraunt has an open and airy feel, and although busy, it felt calm and a nice place to be.
The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly. Service was surprisingly quick. We discussed ordering croissants when the couple at the next table advised that we should share one as they were so big. They were indeed very large, and we agreed the best we had eaten.
The charges were reasonable given the location.
My only small criticism is that the coffee cups are on the small side.
Next time we visit the Wallace Collection, we will definitely have lunch.
Love this place. I've been there 3 times, and I keep coming back bringing family and friends.
The service and food are always lovely.
Great value for money afternoon tea.
A fantastic option for if you want to catch up with someone in Mayfair. There's something about being in a museum or gallery which gets the creative juices going, even if it's a cafe in one! The price was reasonable compared to some others in the area.
We had the rose tea as part of our afternoon tea, which was wonderful. It was a very wet afternoon after the King's Coronation, and this was the perfect way to spend it.
Clotted cream is always good. The scones were warm and satisfying.
The Cafe is inside the gallery. The staff were good. The toilets are downstairs, the museum one's, and they are unisex.
An outstanding place of beauty with a stunning eclectic selection of furniture, art and armour. The Wallace restaurant is set in a spacious delicate soft pink courtyard offering a calm oasis, sprinkled with plants and trees. The natural lighting gives a feeling of alfresco dining, with the comfort of being under glazed cover, enabling all round seasonal seating.
£15.50 for two small coffees and one small cake.
The incredible collection, the masterly tour guide - all free.
A privilege just to stop into the building.
Really friendly staff in the cafe. Tasty cakes, nice setting. The cafe has a glass roof and I imagine it could get hot in the summer, but it was OK in May.
