Very Georgian! Excellent food! Strongly recommend!
The food and atmosphere was fantastic - had a wonderful night
The Bethnal Green outpost is very near Columbia Road flower market which makes Sunday a perfect day to visit. Surprisingly not everyone thinks the same way and so during lunch time on a lovely warm day, the cafe was quite empty. Maybe it was so warm noone wanted to be inside - also possible. - Ajaruli Khachapuri (with egg & butter) £9 - very similar to the Turkish boat-shaped breads but this one was cheeses in the middle topped with an egg and lots of melted butter. The green condiment mix was a little bit herby and tangy for balance. But the overriding flavour was warm butter and mild cheese. It wasn't as salty/savoury as the one in Russia but nice nonetheless;- Khinkali x4 £8.5 - beef and pork dumplings with thick dumpling skin, particularly at the top where the edges were squeezed together. It housed a tasty warm filling and meat broth with the Ajika yogurt providing some contrast.
Um... the food was really really delicious - I never had Georgian food before but I'm into it in a big way now. You know when you start to crave a cuisine? That's how I feel about now - their menu is compact and well curated, with something for everyone. We opted for a mezze style dinner to try multiple dishes and that was a great decision, it was all good (the cheesy flatbread thing especially). In addition to top-notch / great value chow, the ambiance is great. Its a small and intimate place with a BYO policy. Yes, you should go here!
Little Georgia. This is hidden away just lovely
...made our way to Little Georgia, a cafe I’d earmarked for lunch. This was my first time having Georgian food and while I’d read a lot about it (especially about their cheese breads), I had no idea what to really expect nor what it would taste like...It’s a tiny and extremely cozy place with a bit of outdoor seating. Service was very helpful and friendly....Their lunch menu is mainly soups and sandwiches and we decided to order off their Specials board, which, in hindsight, was a small selection of what they serve for dinner. Kababi were homemade kebabs of spiced lamb served with mashed potatoes, salad and ketchup mixed with Georgian spicy ajika , a delicious spicy condiment made of red peppers and spices. Did I mention that everything was lovely and spicy?
Lovely little spot. Food was delicious but I do agree with another reviewer that for £22 I would expect a bigger portion of salads - especially as they are all so yummy you want more! The cheese bread that comes with it is a great accompaniment. Personally I think they would be better off having a set menu/tasting menu where you get a good spread served to the table. I think I would feel more satisfied by that and it would help with the kitchen and service time. Only took one photo of the dumplings.
Food was absolutely amazing!
Borscht was so tasty, and I don't even like beetroot, which was the main ingredient. Adjaruli Khachapuri is a must try. It is rather big for a starter. The beef stew and beef/pork dumplings were also done to perfection.
Everything was also unbelievable value, which explains why they do get quite busy, so try to book ahead.
We had such a great time here - super friendly service, cozy and charming spot. This was our first time eating Georgian food and it was so good - especially the cheese pastry and the bean dish, highly recommend. Definitely reserve, it’s a small spot. They have two dining services, from 6:30 or from 8:45. Also, this location is BYOB!
Great food! Service is a bit slow, yet it's nice overall. Bring your own wine or buy it across the street in a small Georgian shop ;)
Nice local Georgian restaurant with decent food and prices. The space isn't overly large, so a reservation is always a good shout plus it's BYO wine. Between the three of us, we shared the adjaruli khachapuri which is a bread boat with cheese and egg (must order!), the khinkali which are savoury pork and beef dumplings (good flavour but quite doughy), chashushuli which is a spicy chicken stew (really good) and the ajabsandali which is an aubergine, red pepper and tomato ragout with cheese (not bad but slightly too salty). Staff were polite but left us to be most of the time.
Very lovely place, it has two floors, the staff is really friendly, food is tasty. Hinkali was great, really enjoyed. They used fresh meat and it was not spicy, just at the right taste. Prices are good, the entire environment is great. But they work till 6 and reopen at 6.30, do know why, but they do not provide this information elsewhere.
Lovely little spot for dinner! I had never tried Georgian food before, and everything was delicious. Staff were very friendly, space was cute and small. It’s also BYOB for a £5 fee, and dishes were on the cheap side but large. Spent £26 each for a meal we couldn’t even finish and wine. Will be back!
Amazing, wonderful, such a lovely place!! I'm glad to find a good Georgian place in the area. Will be visiting again
Amazing and unique cuisine and great service. We were lucky to find a table at short notice. Dishes were so big we took some back home. Starter, mains and dessert were best in class.
Absolutely unreal food. The cheese and egg bread was better than I had even dreamed. All killer no filler for everything we ordered. Fantastic, will definitely be back and highly recommend.
I stumbled upon a charming little Georgian restaurant in the heart of Hackney, and it was a delightful surprise! The cozy atmosphere and warm hospitality made me feel right at home. The Georgian cuisine was a true revelation, with flavors that danced on my palate. From khachapuri to ajapsandali, every dish was a taste of Georgia's rich culinary heritage. If you're in Hackney and craving a friendly and flavorful dining experience, don't miss this gem of a Georgian restaurant!
First time trying Georgian food. Very friendly place and tasty food. It looks like a family run business. Not many choices and maybe a bit overpriced for the size of the portion, otherwise it will be a 5 stars 😊
The food is fantastic, hearty and authentic, without being too heavy. The portions and prices are fair. BYOB is a great bonus too. It’s a small place and can get very busy, so with only one person on the floor it may take a while to get everything. It’s worth the wait for the food, just bear in mind.
Cozy neighbourhood joint serving up Georgian food & wine in Hackney. Decent food and casual but friendly service. Had khinkali and aubergine salad - both were excellent!
I went with my partner and some friends. We shared the mezze platter and some breads and then had our own main dishes. I didn't try everything as I am vegan but everything I ate was absolutely delicious. The bean bread (lobiani) was so tasty (my partner said even better than the cheese one!), as was the aubergine main dish. BYOB is a real plus, although the only place to buy wine nearby is pricey so plan ahead. The manager was friendly and didn't put any pressure on us to leave when we were the last table left, even though by that point we had finished our food. A lovely restaurant, highly recommend.
One of the friendliest and cutest place in the neighbourhood with finger licking delicious Georgian food.
The staff and the owner are the most kind people who serve you with their hearts !
A must if you fancy good vibes, delicious food and a very nice staff! And don’t forget to order the Georgian lemonade !
Bravo !
Not a big restaurant but cozy and split in two floors. There are vegetarian dishes that can be made vegan, not many choices but everything was very good (If you don't like soups maybe it's not the place for you!). The stuff is very friendly and welcoming, and happy to help. It is a BYOB so bring your alcoholic drinks!
Unfortunately by the time we arrived the place ran out of khinkali 💔 Besides that, we had a nice experience. Note that they don’t serve alcohol but you can buy a bottle of Georgian (amongst other) wines across the street and bring it in for your dinner.
