Wow what a gem. Gorgeous seafood curry, staff and etta were very friendly and made it a lovely experience. Highly recommend this place, gotta go back as there is so much I want to try.
Wow wow wow! I love this place and food on tops. Etta beautiful inside and out she has very warm and welcoming heart. First time I went there three weeks ago I've had fish and chips so delicious and went there again last night and had seafood amazing amazing amazing. Can't wait to pop in there again.
What a superb place, wonderful food, a great vibe and all presided over by the fabulous Etta
HIGHLY RECOMMEND ! Food was absolutely delicious . My entire family had different plates and we all enjoyed our meals. We even gave the chef a round of applause . I definitely would return and try other dishes . Staff are warm and inviting . Promise they will not disappoint.
Delightful warm welcome, especially to my two grandsons, aged 7 and 4, and delicious food. The older boy loved his seafood curry!
This was my 4th time back & again ,outstanding food & a very warm welcome, will be back again with more friends from overseas, thank you again Etta kitchen 👍
I often crave the sweet potato & pumpkin curry and it never disappoints. Accompanied by fresh homemade ginger beer. Heaven on a plate and served with love.
Wonderful food and friendly hosts. We ate very well and laughed together. Highly recommended!
You know what im like when.it comes to food i love this place exelent delisious and banging xxxx
Love Etta love her amazing food. Best seafood curry I've ever eaten
Amazing food and amazing service, a real family vibe. Love this place.
My favourite restaurant in the WORLD (no exaggeration!)
This lovely hidden gem in Brixton has the finest seafood around. A must try for a seafood fan. I had the curry seafood platter (cod, prawns and mussels) with rice and peas. It went down amazingly with a smooth glass of ginger beer. The service was lovely and so warm; definitely a reason to return!
At the heart of Brixton village lies this family run seafood restaurant. There's seats inside and out and often less queues than some of the other places around the market. The menu is small and simple, I opted for the fish soup which was full if flavour and had a good variety if fish and seafood in it. Would go back to try other things on the menu.
Really delicious, topnotch Jamaican cooking at its best. Generous portions, tasty combinations and excellent presentation. Etta was warm and welcoming. She came over and chatted for a while. Lovely lady. Would definitely come again and bring friends and family.
Best seafood dish I have ever had. Etta cooks from the heart.
The rum punch was delicious and I could actually taste the rum 😋 I loved the warm rum cake with ice cream.
I will be back!
Amazing atmosphere and incredible homemade food and drinks. I had the sea food platter with ginger beer and loved every bit of it. Great value for money too.
Staff were immediately welcoming - it felt like being welcomed into the home of distant family member. Food was cooked fresh and served beautifully. Great selection of *authentic* Jamaican dishes. Colourful and romantic decor. Walked past ‘Fish, Wings & Tings’ on the way through the arcade - those staff had no idea what ackee & saltfish was and just showed me a menu to check if it was there *facepalm*. I will certainly be coming back and recommending to my nearest and dearest. We had the fried snapper, ackee & salt fish, festivals, plantain and sorrel - all wonderful!
One of best eating experiences I’ve had in a very very long time. The food is amazing 10/10 truthfully. The service is just as great too, the owner Etta is passionate about her kitchen and her customers. Real life experience, first time I have gone to eat with friends and spoken to the owner/chef personally. 10/10 for service aswell as food. I highly recommend and advise you to plan a visit( with your eating pants) thank you so much guys. Lobster for the win!!
We had a birthday lunch here and could not have been happier with the food and service! Etta (owner/chef) made us feel so welcome and was extremely generous. The seafood is fresh and delicious, portions are generous and everything is very reasonably priced too. We’ll definitely be coming back.
Came here for lunch on the off chance as we were walking through brixton village and I'm so glad we decided to stop.
I had the brown stew fish, calamari and mac and cheese. All were really tasty especially the brown stew fish it's been a while since I had some authentic cooking.
One thing I will say is if you are in a rush it's perhaps not the spot for you (I suspect its all cooked fresh which is perfect for me) but if not soak up the atmosphere and enjoy the rum punch or sorrel while you wait (which was yum)...can't wait to go back. :-)
I can not say enough about the extraordinary lunch we had at Etta's Seafood Kitchen.Every!morsel of the house salad, vegetables in coconut sauce, her fish fry and lightly fried calamari were all sensational!!It's not just the food but Etta's presence and attention to detail are unmatched with any other dining experience I've had in London!Go there and be healed by the delicious cuisine and be inspired by the professional and highly skilled Chef/Owner,Etta!!
Yes,go NOW!!!
Etta's came highly recommended and I was not disappointed. The food was divine, flavoursome, generous and beautifully presented. I had the SaltFish Fritters and the Vegetable RunDown. The Sorrel was also Delicious! Etta and her crew were Just Fabulous! I look forward to revisiting. Thank You Etta
Four of us ate at Etta’s yesterday and I have to say that this place is amazing. What a wonderful lady - so friendly and funny and and a great chef. The food was excellent - no fuss, just great tasty food. I had the fish - possibly the best I’ve eaten for a long time. We also had the fish platter which was equally good. Our only issue was that we had to rush our meal as we had somewhere else to go - next time we will make sure we stay at this great place much longer to enjoy this fun place. Thank you.
Brixtons hidden treasure is Ettas kitchen. First visit for me as a birthday treat for my partner. Warm and friendly welcome, cosy table, beautiful ambience. The food was perfection, my first ever Lobster dish, and the staff even threw in a rendition of happy birthday with cake candle and ice cream. If you have not been, you really are missing out. See you soon Etta.
Friendly and welcoming owner, the restaurant is very intimate and great for a for a catch up with friends and family.
We enjoyed the Calamari starter, Ackee and saltfish with rice and peas with the amazing sorrel, the children had fish and chips but wasn't too happy.
The only downfall was there wasn't really much food option for kids but the owner was very accomadating and kept the children entertained with puzzles, badges and colouring.
Thank you for having us,I would definitely recommended and visit again
I had the brown stew fish with lovely rice n gungu peas included. Good to have gungu for a change and compliment to the main instead of it obscuring the subtle flavour of the fish. Delicious al denté veg too although I’d have preferred the tough bits of the cabbage removed for ease of eating. I’d called ahead to clarify whether the main came with sides which I was pleased did. I was also informed by the lovely host that all the food was made to order at which point I asked for scotch bonnet the size of a fingernail tip to warm the dish and not overpower it rendering it inedible to me .
She did very well although I suspect she had long nails or extensions because it was a tad hot for me. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my meal and studied their menu again, looking forward to trying other dishes on the menu in future.
Good job Etta . You cook beautiful food.
The warmth of the host, Etta, drew me in. The authentic decor kept my eyes roving. The welcoming rum punch was enough to make me love her more! Had a delectable meal and uplifting conversation! Well done Empress Etta and Empress Marcia! Going back soon soon!
Amazing food and great lady whose hands were made to create mouthwatering infusions. A definite must visit if in Brixton village...
2022 update, still one of my favourite hidden gems to dine out, fantastic team and excellent food always.
