I've been here 3 times in 8 days since being introduced by a friend. Taken friends and family and everybody has loved it. This is the best burger place I've been to and I'm including non-halal burger joints in London. Their selection of burgers is second to none. The patties are juicy and flavoursome. The cream brioche buns are out of this world. They don't crumble and break from all the juices but yet are still soft in the mouth. Their rosemary fries r handmade and crunchy. The staff are attentive. They also do some local drinks such as Dalston cola. Their desserts are also home made and taste great. This is the best burger place you will go to. Go there and try them!
Seen alot of friends on here go to this restuarant and said great things about it. Tried it for the first time with family and must say it was well worth the visit.....food was lovely and the service was brilliant. Must admit we got there at a nice quite time but the food was amazing. The wings were in my top 3 of all time.
Overall will highly recommend this place for a nice family night out.
The Da Veg burger and the beef burger options, plus milkshakes are really good! Not too pricey, good atmosphere and service and cool decor. Chess board a nice touch. (Only gripe is that they never seem to have the Apple pie available, although it's on the menu.) Well worth a visit! Make sure you take cash with you - cards not accepted
Just got back from Proper Burgers and I have to say "WOW". The food was absolutely amazing and really reasonably priced. Having seen the photographs on here myself and my girlfriend thought we had to try it out and we certainly weren't disappointed. The burgers were absolutely amazing, the sweet potatoes fries were some of the best I've had and the staff were so nice! Would recommend 100%. If you like your burgers, be sure to check this place out!
Great food, great service and all at a reasonable price. Also, love the cassette collection on the wall! Will be back to sample the breakfast!
Brill....... The best burger experience I have had in years :-) plus superb fries and great onion rings lol
I will defiantly be coming back to try more of their menu. Oh do try their Mojito it's superb, especially considering the lack of rum Mmmmm ;-)
Staff are very friendly and helpful ... :-)
Very nice ambiance, friendly staff and quick efficient service. The buttermilk fried chicken burger and pulled beef nachos were really delicious and unique. Expensive but worth the money.
So my brother in law had been raving about a casual diner that serves halal English breakfast in Leyton. Let me tell you I was overwhelmed with the interior and the service, just superb!
We ordered the big breakfast, Sunday brisket and classic burger along with onion rings and fries as sides.
The winner was the brisket hands down, tender lamb that just melts away and steamed vegetables tossed in the sauce. They should keep the brisket as a permanent item on their menu.
Nice burgers and mocktails. Ambience was good too, you could see the chefs making your order as there is an open kitchen. Was disappointed by the service and lack of attention from the staff
Really Tasty ! I've never eaten a good hamburger like thèse. The team is very caring. The server Yassine is adorable and professionnel ! The food and the service are great ! Thanks
Amazing tasting food! Good prices and decent service. A must try for burger lovers. Free albeit (limited) parking on the main road and surrounding side roads after 6:30pm.
My only real criticism is the seating. I have turned away from this place several times, because upon entering, they have tried to seat me in a ridiculous small table which has 2 high chairs. (I will upload pictures soon)
1. I am not a child.
2. This is very uncomfortable for an adult :/ (I have actually tried to sit on those chairs before. I do not recommend it if you are over the age of about 10.
Note for owners: You must get rid of that table and replace it with another sandard table for 2.
Also, the a significant proportion of their seating consists of bench seating as opposed to tables.
Again not a fan.
So if you're like me, specifically ring up beforehand and reserve a table.
Aside my rant regarding tables. Great tasting HALAL food. I personally recommend the signature proper burger.
Their chips are also great. None of that "oily chicken-shop and thin tasting chips".
Overall. Good stuff! Great food! Knocked off a star for the school like seating. Cannot fault them on anything else really. Food always tastes great.
Amazing food! Amazing ambience. We stumbled across this heavenly place by accident, but I knew from the minute I read the menu, these guys knew their stuff and we were in good hands. We ordered the Sunday beef roast, chicken Caesar salad, proper burger fries, brisket fire burger, and kids chicken burger meals, along with some delicious mocktails. We were in our element! Licking our fingers and savouring every bite.
This place needs to be shouted about! Definitely on our list of favourite restaurants!!
Good gourmet burger would say it's on a good level say 6-7 out of ten. Would Go back again. Prices seem far fetched. Not sure what justifies the pricing. The wings tasted as if they were not cooked through and retained the uncooked chicken flavour. Perhaps just a bad batch will retry and update. Will be back here again
The Burger quality is really high, the best burgers in leyton / walthamstow at the moment. The sides are a bit pricy and so are the burgers but if you relate quality to price I would say it's more than fairly priced. Staff is really nice as well, I went with my wife and toddler and everyone played with him and made us feel really welcome.
This is Proper Burger based in Leyton. The restaurant has great interior as well as a decent exterior. Restaurant looks clean as it should be. HMC certified. Both the burgers we had were perfect, both juicy and full of flavour. The onion rings were also good. The cheesy fries not so good, the cheese just moulded into one cheese blob and very hard to separate. This side just turned into chips with a side of cheese. Where we were seated was a bit uncomfortable, which was right in front of the managers desk. Yes you read that right, the managers desk was facing us and no one likes being watched while eating.
Proper Burgers is a halal gourmet burger restaurant. There has been a surge in burger joints in London recently, which once upon a time, I personally would have welcomed this trend. But the standards and quality at most of these eateries have been pretty poor & disappointing, in my humble opinion. However, Proper Burgers most definitely lived up to its name. The restaurant was spacious, modern & chic. Unlike most burger joints, which are usually quite cramped & rustic in their appearance. The 'Cheesey Burger' depicted in this picture consisted of two 4 ounce beef patties, turkey bacon, salad, caramelised onions & relish, with a choice of cheese; I opted for Blue cheese, blanketed in between two fluffy, lightly toasted, brioche buns. The burger was phenomenal. My patty was well seasoned, the burger maintained its integrity, the caramelised onions was simply delicious. My only critique would be that the patty was cooked "well done", where as I would have preferred the patty "medium rare". Nonetheless, it was so refreshing to finally find a burger restaurant that lived up to expectations.
Great burgers, especially the chicken buttermilk. The buffalo wings were delicious. We ordered cheesy fries which had actual cheese melted on top (as opposed to a cheese sauce which stays soft even when cold). They had complimentary dates for Iftaar that was nice!
Like everything the experience starts with customer service. The welcoming staff were fantastic. Interior of the place has character and a cosy fell.
The “proper burger” was tasty and soft. The patty was cooked to perfection.
The pulled beef fries weren’t so tasty. It was dry and rubbery and the cheese hardened extremely quick.
Nice portion sizes, had to take some home. Rosemary chips are perfectly fried with extra rosemary flavour. Burgers are tasty and I would go back there, definitely a proper burger. Staff were lovely and attentive.
nice little burger joint in leyton. one of the originals to be fair. they were here long before it was trendy to own a restaurant/eatery!!! really enjoyed the chilled vibe and family friendly atmosphere. menu was simple and didn’t go bananas with too many options. food came out quick and served hot. i ordered the morris. translation CHILLI. and boy was burger was spicy. just how I like it. we also got the slaw called properslaw which I thoroughly enjoyed. and the proper loaded fries which is beef brisket on top of cheese on top of hand cut fries. another strong choice by us! they also do a four patty stack which I was lucky enough to get a picture of and also lucky enough to not even attempt eating. really recommend this place as the food was surprisingly good. I do think prices are a tad high for the locale it’s in and it might need a few more options. for example milkshakes and desserts. all in all would revisit and food did not disappoint.
Best burger ive had so far. Service (rofique) was amazing. Very clean inside. Will be back to try more of the burgers.
Burger held up well and was seasoned well. I tried the rosemary chips which were really good too and the portion size was big.
Brilliant
This is one of our 3 go to places. When you walk in to the place, you notice the warm feeling and how cosy it feels inside. The staff have always been warm and welcoming and it has a wonderful family run place feel about it. All staff are attentive and the head chef is happy to accommodate any needs. There has been times when dishes have no longer been on the menu but they are happy to make it as per request. It's these little touches that make us return over and over again. I have tried pretty much all the burgers and can't decide on a favourite. The milkshakes are lovely and you must try the home made apple pie. Easily the best I've had and no other place has come close for me.
The burgers differ on size depending on what you choose, however it is always satisfying. The chef knows what he is doing and even doing things like basic seasoning of salt and pepper, shows he understand food. Other restaurants can take note from proper burgers.
They do try new dishes which shows the creative thought process of the team here, rather then serve the same stuff all day everyday.
The pricing is perfect and 2 people can eat well for £30.
One of the best burger joints in East London!
We ordered the Buffalo Chicken Wings, Cheesy Fries, Cheesy 4oz, Buttermilk Fried Chicken Burger, The Cosmo, Mango Daiquiri and the Chocolate Cake and Ice Cream.
The Cheesy Fries we're AMAZING! Freshly cut and fried chips.
The Buttermilk Fried Chicken burger was HUGE! The combination of the items and the chicken with the creamy sauce was really good! However I wouldn't recommend this if your stomach cannot handle dairy or rich creamy food!
I would definitely go back to try something else!
went here for the sunday roast fully halal with grwat customer service decently priced for what your gettung beef waz very tender melt in your mouth kinda vibe and the pulled beef propper chips where fantastic I added my own twist and asked for naga oil on it realyl gave it that kick.
Food was good.
We (group of 4) were the only customers present at the time which made the atmosphere a little empty and awkward. Staff were super friendly and the food came out quick. Can't complain.
The burgers were top stuff. Staff was super nice. Overall, loved it.
