It is a brilliant place to have a drink downstairs with bits of wasabi.

Loved this place. I got to sit down stairs with my friend which was lovely and quiet. We were by ourselves so it was great for us to have a chat. The food was great and the service was good. Nice place!

Beautiful Japanese dining experience!

I had the edamame, spinach seasame, chicken gyoza, Japanese omelette, Inari for start: and everything was so perfect and tasty.

Also had the spicy salmon, tuna avocado, and shrimp tempura and asparagus rolls. I couldn’t pick a favourite because each and every was delicious with fresh seafood. Quickly swiped out all of them!

Then had the chicken katsu with rice and the teriyaki chicken donburi. The katsu was perfectly fried, one of my favourites. And the donburi literally took me to the authentic flavours of japan.

Accompanied by hot sake. Oh! Lovely experience, great food great hospitality, worth visiting again!

Cocoro brought me back to the days I spent travelling in Japan... It's an unpretentious venue when looking from outside, which offers you the best Japanese food has to offer. From the sushi to the ramens, not forgetting the Anko pastries for dessert (the traditional red beans paste)... all wrapped around a true Japanese-style venue and a very welcoming staff. To take the most out of your visit, I recommend you to stay downstairs, with the added benefit of the extra privacy created by the tables' layout. Can't wait to my next visit!

As a fan of sushi, this was a nice discovery. Well prepared, and done quickly. I recommend the basement-level part of the restaurant for a more authentic experience, shoe-less included. Just be aware and patient with the staff, as their command of English is not phenomenal: don't let that put you off.

Way back before the ramen revolution hit London, my first experience of ramen was at Cocoro. It’s a Japanese restaurant just off Oxford Street and on its full menu, they offered ramen.  My memory of the ramen was a nice soup but dry pork chashu. Just for ramen wars, I decided to return to where it all began.

Cocoro is a neighbourhood gem. I discovered it several years ago walking down Marylebone lane. It is unassuming in appearance from the exterior and looks incredibly small when you first walk in. However, there is another floor downstairs where tables are real Japanese style i.e. shoes off and sitting on the ground.

The menu is extensive and authentic, serving everything from sea urchin to takoyaki to natto, as well as any dish you would expect from a Japanese restaurant in London.

Everything is extremely fresh and beautifully presented. My favourite dish here has to be the butterfish tataki with truffle jelly. I haven't seen this anywhere else, so I highly recommend trying it.

Ok but a bit pricey given that much better quality food is around the corner at Atariya.  However, the restaurant decor is nice and you can sit down for a relatively quiet meal, although you will have to pay for this privilege.  Not much though for their corner of town.

Good food in Marylebone. We went for a dinner after shopping. Sushi was amazing especially dragon rolls, which was well presented. Usually I would not really expect on delicious deserts in Japanese restaurants, but after having Yuzu cheese cake, it completely changed my theory!! Yuzu is citrus in Japanese by the way.

Reasonable, for the area but don't go out of your way. Having nearly died with shock at the prices at Defune, round the corner, I thought I would try this little place on Marylebone Lane. It's not fancy but it's fairly reliable. They do get things a bit wrong and sometimes there is a communication issue but it's good value for the quality of cooking even if it's not the very finest of Japanese cuisine.

They do a lot of set lunches and it's a great little lunchtime place. I have eaten there in the evening and it's worth sitting at the sushi bar and speaking to the sushi chef to try and get the best cuts.

There are many places that serve ramen in London, but very few serve tonkotsu ramen (豚骨ラーメン). So in this post I'm going to check out this most iconic of Japanese soup noodle dishes in a slightly nerdy head-to-head comparison between rival restaurants, Cocoro and Tonkotsu Bar & Ramen . Round 1: The Broth The most important aspect of tonkotsu ramen (and indeed any soup noodle dish) is the broth. Tonkotsu means 'pork bones' in Japanese, and it is these that give the broth a rich, meaty flavour and a thick, cloudy quality. And in that respect the broth at Cocoro is a clear winner with a good salty and porky balance. It also looked the part, with a layer of fat and a cloudy appearance from the broken-down collagen. Cocoro's tonkotsu ramen - 1st impressions Tonkotsu's effort - 1st impressions That's not to say Tonkotsu's effort was bad. After all, it was cloudy and a bit fatty, but it just wasn't as good as Cocoro's effort. Nevertheless, I do applaud the addition of Japanese blac

Cocoro is a small restaurant with good atmosphere and authentic food served in generous portions. Large selection of Japanese alcohol is a plus.

If you like genuine Japanese food, this is def a place to try out. It's located just off the main high streets - between marylebone high street and bond street and is a surprisingly quiet location. Even on a Friday night we were able to get a table an hour before coming.

The food here is really good. Of all the stuff we tried I must recommend the black cod in miso sauce - a fairly popular dish in many Japanese and pan Asian restaurants but one which is seldom done to the quality here.

The other thing you might notice when you go here is that a lot of the clientele is actually Japanese - which is always a good sign of the genuine nature of the preparations.

The only thing to keep in mind is that the portions although tasty are small and also a touch on the expensive side. A meal for two without alcohol is around £60-£70.

We went there for sukiyaki and sukiyaki only. Heard that they had a sukiyaki all-you-can-eat, which was also the thing that attracted us in the first place, but they don’t seem to have this offer anymore. Loved the flavour, definitely one of the best we have ever tried in Europe. Meat could be fresher though. Tried their takoyaki and desserts as well. The former was very meh, the octopus bite was so tiny that you couldn't even taste it... the latter was surprisingly good. Very limited seating space too - reservations sound like a wise choice.

This authentic Japanese restaurant has many Japanese food options at the heart of London! The service is fantastic even though the dining space is limited. Highly recommended!

For the quality of the food and services, amazingly inexpensive. I had a tuna domburi and tempura set for my lunch and it was wonderful quality and very good portion size as well. I was with my work colleagues and some of them were severely delayed like 30 mins or longer. We ordered everything including meals for the delayed colleagues and asked the staff to serve when they eventually will come but no idea when. The staff somehow served fairly immediately when they arrived. Perhaps they were already cooked and reheated just before being served but my colleagues never complained or anything so assuming the food was fine. Really impressive services. Staff members were friendly and polite as well as efficient.

We were seated in the basement in a typical separate Japanese low table but with a place for the feet. The dishes were unbelievably umami! The service was friendly and explanatory. They only forgot one dish but we didn't mind at all.

Authentic Japanese restaurant using fresh ingredients with reasonable price. Everything is perfect, from sashimi to dessert, even the tableware and sake cups are fabulous. Highly recommend Tako Wasabi, foie gras don, chef's special nigiri, miso glazed black cod and Hamachi Kama.

Authentic Japanese restaurant with lots of dishes to choose from! Everything was delicious and brings Japan closer. You can order sushi or main dishes like ramen or curry, but they also have a lot of small plates. This and the huge range of sake gives a bit of an izakaya vibe if you go in the evening. Staff was super friendly. A new restaurant to add to the favorites list! Price wise, if you don't want to spend a lot, with a main dish and maybe a side it will be average London price. If you want loads of sushi or to try several plates, you'll pay more but it's standard for London's prices

Simply delicious. Authentic, delicious (yes), served with effervescent joy and smile. Only blemish is the tables might need a bit of fixing. Other than that: delightful.

Master Chef on the sushi counter was amazing with the intricate details of flowers and sushi placement. It was almost too pretty to eat. All staff were friendly and accommodating from start to finish, they were very patient, the ambience was charming and calming. The price of the food was expected for location and as reflected in the service. Would definitely recommend it and would definitely be returning there again soon.

A huge variety of Japanese food, served in a very traditional style setting. After a few visits, I am yet to find a bad dish. Normally, such a large menu would make me think twice about eating at a restaurant but I was given such a strong recommendation that I had to seek it out. It was completely worth it and the size of the menu does not impact the quality of the dishes at all. The portions are much bigger than they look too. Fantastic eatery that took me right back to Japan.

Delicious spot for authentic Japanese fare - the menu is extensive but every dish is good. We had the red dragon roll, the yellowtail sashimi (least authentic dish but delicious nonetheless), tuna hand roll, daikon salad, miso aubergine and matcha crepe cake. Everything was beyond delicious and service was great! Highly recommend.

Really good food! The sushi is really fresh! The crisp chicken is tender and full of flavour with the Mayo sauce. Also tried the fried prawns and they were amazing with the sweet dip. The food it’s self is 5 stars but I have given 4 as the service was not the best. Constantly reminding them to bring things and trying to catch there attention to order something. Spent 30 mins after the bill was received just to pay.

The food was good, but I ordered the fried chicken with my ramen and I had to wait a lot… and then the chicken wasn’t even that good
