What a joy to have such an authentic pizza pad nearby. Santa Maria is honest to italian napoli pizza roots of simplicity and great tasting ingredients. Good vibe, good prices... A strong 4.5
If you like pizza you have to go to Santa Maria period. It’s by far the best pizzeria in London I have tried. Authentic Neapolitan pizza, ready within 10 minutes of ordering, and great service
Best pizza in London. The vibe is great and more importantly the pizza was absolutely delicious. My Italian boyfriend who has very high standards for Italian food in general loved it as well. Definitely recommended!
Now I really feel like making a big public service with the rating here, there needs to be far more opinions in the mix.
As goes for the Restaurant itself I happen to walk by it at least four times a day and only today, after more than half a year I have actually found my way in. Having visited a significant chunk of Londons recommended pizzerias (I counted and 12 of them I found to be excellent) this one is quite possibly in my top 3 at least. Let me justify that by describing my experience with the wonderful San Rocco Pizza, and this one deserves a section breakdown.
Presentation - overall loose, informal, unpretentious but vibrant, Italian, toppings full of colour (especially the greens look like they just came off the plant). With the solid ball of burrata pugliese (cheese made from mozzarella and cream originating from Italian region of Puglia) sitting comfortably in the middle and Shavings of hard Pecorino cheese and fresh rocket on top. Italian pizzascape at its finest. And the dough...just try it or look up my Homeslice review.
The actual experience of eating does not disappoint the high expectations one has after the pizza is served. The greens are as fresh as they look, Pecorino is aromatic and flavoursome. The burrata centrepiece adds a playful element allowing one to spread the creamy goodness as one pleases. As to the dough I could enjoy it on its own and I could not stand the look of the lady next to me leaving her 'bands', FFS.
Because of the convenience of location I am quite sure this will be the second pizzeria in London I will revisit so this is to be updated!
As for now, 5 stars bang on!!!
Update from week later:
Just to confirm the quality I had their Calzone today. I have chosen it because calzone means more of their great dough but at the end it was the combination of toppings that stole the show.
The thin slices of prosciutto cotto just meltednin the mouth, while the neapolitan salame cut in strings provided bursts of flavour to compliment the backdrop of ricotta cheese. Awesome!
Being a confessed pizza addict, I was in heaven here. Wasn't even hungry but had to force it down just to taste the crust, cheese and sauce. Glad I did! The pizza was amazing, hot and fresh. The service was fast and friendly. The decor is very hip and nice so you can come here on a date or just with some friends to enjoy the amazing pizza.
Spectacular pizza from a great oven and masterful pie making hands. Awesome caponata. Italian beers. Best to call for a reservation. 2nd location on St Mary's.
Pizza here is amazing and authentic! I'm a big fan of Franco Manca, but Santa Maria is now my favourite pizza place in London. Cheap, massive pizzas, and oh so tasty.
We had just landed in London after 32 hours of travel and were starving. It was late and we had trouble finding a restaurant open that would serve us. We stumbled upon Santa Maria's and couldn't have been happier. They were closing in 20 minutes and still happily served us. I have traveled all over the world including a very long tour of Italy. This pizza was by far the best pizza I have ever had. I chose the Margherita and holy crap was it delicious. Not because I was starving, but because it was incredibly flavorful. The dough was perfect. The sauce was great, the cheese and toppings were fresh. I plan on eating here as much as I can before heading back home. Well done Santa Maria!
This place was welcoming and accommodating for our first night in London. We ate in and got take away for my parents while staying around the corner. We had two pizzas without tomato sauce and have no regrets! I forget the names, but one had figs on it that was very flavorful and rich. Want to go back if we have time!
Excellent place to eat real Pizza Napoletana! Most of the dishes are from Napoli. Taste is authentic and prices still good. Service is warm, despite is quite busy. Better to reserve. Meat and veggie options. Desert are a surprise. Their own orange IPA worth to try. Keep like this guys!!!
Great place! A very nice girl Stefany, speaks Spanish, helped me choose a pizza, I didn't see the menu well without glasses. Friendly staff. A very cozy atmosphere and a wonderful pizza, just like in Italy!!! I will definitely come back here!!! Thank you, you are great!!!
Pizza in this place is super delicious, fresh but a bit pricey, still love to go there’s to have a good pizza. Customer service is okay though.
As a self proclaimed neapolitan pizza expert, I know a place in London that's the very best in the city. However, I thought I should try other recommended neapolitan pizza places around, so here I am.
Fresh ingredients and it's decent, but it didn't leave a strong impression. The base in the middle was slightly too thin and saucy that I had to eat with a fork and knife instead of my hand midway finishing the pizza as it became soupy. Cheese lacking a bit of flavor. Whenever I have pizza in a new restaurant, if their cheese tastes amazing and the dough is light and durable, I know the place is good. The pizza here although isn't as exciting as my favourite place in London, I'd say it definitely worth a try if you're in the area and craving for a nice pizza.
Probably the best pizza ever had in London. Extremely tasty, excellent ingredients and beautiful location. Tiramisù was also very good! Definitely coming back
I have loved Santa Maria Pizzeria since they were only open in South Ealing. This branch is no exception. I went there with friends and all the food, from bruschetta to tiramisu, was just top notch! Loved every single bite of their food and the restaurant also has enough space for a few big groups. A must try for Napolitano pizza lovers in London.
Omg, best pizza I had in London! Totally worth it. Our waitress Este was lovely and very helpful regarding our allergies and recommendations! Planning to come back ASAP!
The food here is 10/10, some of the best pizza I’ve eaten outside of Italy. Aubergine Parmigiana is also fabulous. However, the service was quite slow and we were left waiting a long time to order/drinks etc.
Fantastic pizza, just the y forgot to bring the drinks before or at the same time of the pizza. But is ok. I would like to repeat many times :-)
I came here for lunch one day, and I always love proper pizza! And Santa Maria definitely delivered!
I ordered the Santa Valentina pizza, it was so good! Thin base, it had that soft doughiness but a firm base and the slight crispy crust. It was so good! They don't hold back on the toppings either, it had plenty per bite, accompanied with the mushroom and truffle cream dippers..perfection! I can feel myself salivating just reminiscing about the meal!
Overall it was a very pleasant solo lunch, the staff were very friendly and polite.
I will definitely be coming back.
Many thanks.
I enjoyed visiting Santa Maria on a sunny afternoon after a Chelsea game. Prime location, friendly staff and great pizzas at a great price 😃. The waitress was friendly and suggested a must try dip, the garlic mayo, definitely a must try at this place. The pizza crust was soft and the cheese was tasty. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone having a stroll in Chelsea.
