ou queue on one side to order and pick up on the other side. It works well and there is enough space to sit outside. The burger was delicious. The fries good.. But the fries with cheese ... So special! I would recommend especially for the friendly staff. The older staff also were very chatty and welcoming

The long awaited visit to Shake Shack. Given there aren’t any on this side of the world I was very excited to try it (seemingly so were a lot of people given the huge line to both order and collect) and maybe the anticipation was too high but I have to say it really wasn’t anything to write home about. A good burger to be sure but nothing life changing and certainly pricey for what it was

Been to this location a lot of times and it is always extremely crowded. They have a lot space to sit for diners which is great. Food is excellent as always. I do miss the Shake Shack in the US which was definitely better, but I will still give this all the stars as the food is just amazing!

I had been craving for crinkle fries at Shake Shack since NYC so had to visit here on the first opportunity available. I was a little disappointed with the burger and the portion size as it is much better at NYC. However, my disappointment was overshadowed by their amazing patent crinkle fries!

This is lovely pet-friendly place that even has 2 options for your pooch to munch on while you're enjoying one of the glorious burgers or hotdogs.
We had tried the Shackmeister burger and Shackmeister Sausafe which were both incredibly yummy.
Especially loved the ale marinated shallots that came along with each order.

Very good tasting burgers and fries if over priced. However good small portion size for lunch just needs to 1/3rd cheaper! Very good taste but disappointed they didn't ask me how I like it done. I personally like it well done and it was medium as best. A bit expensive for what it is.

After strolling for long in Covent garden, went to Shake shack and tried their *Shroom Burger* which is the only vegetarian option available.
Made with Portobello mushrooms which were filled with oddles of melted cheese was filling.
It was cheesy, crispy and juicy all at the same time.
I also had their Crinkle cut cheddar cheese fries which were crispy and cheddar was a bit sour in taste which I totally loved.
Huge amount of sit out area is there with an option of self serve.
In the lunch time or even at late afternoon's you'll find a queue even if it's a small one.
Overall a good place to grab a quick bite and option for vegetarians like me is also available.
Must visit!

🔶DOUBLE SHACKBURGER🔶

🔹Service: expect to wait a bit of time before being handed your food as this restaurant is very attractive to both locals and tourists that come taste their delicious food items.

🔹Ambiance: this fast food chain exists in the US and you could only find it in London when it comes to their European location.
This place is located in a good touristic street where you can listen to live music sometimes. so if you like the ambiance to be very calm, maybe it is not the right address for you.

🔹Food taste: I was surprised about the size of the burger and I saw them to be smaller than their fast food chains' concurrent. But it was a very pleasant tasty experience, the bun and the patty are both very tender and juicy and you could feel the freshness of the products from the first bite.
When it comes to their fries, you get to choose between fries with cheddar cheese or without any topings.
They are in both cases very soft and big in size, also the way they are shaped makes them different from any other fast food fries.

🔹Comments:

🔹Price: it would be a bit more expensive than other burgers but i mean, it is a "brand" that you could not find anywhere else but in the states, so maybe treat yourself for once and go try it!

All in all, it was a pleasant experience and I would recommend this place!

This review is about the Shake Shack situated near Victoria Station.

SERVICE: 5/5. Everyone was friendly and polite, so I have no complaints at all. It took about ten minutes for our order to be ready and they notified us with a beeping device.
FOOD: 4/5. The burgers and the fries we ordered were very tasty and went really well with their Shack sauce. The two things that bothered me were the size of the burgers (so tiny!) and the fact that they did not have a gluten-free bun even though their website says it's available everywhere. As a result I had to eat my ShackBurger in a lettuce wrap, which was a bit uncomfortable.
LOCATION: 5/5. The fast food is located near Victoria Station and there are a few others, in Covent Garden for example. The design inside is modern and there are many seats.
MENU: 4.5/5. The menu is varied, there really is everything a fast food has to have. I removed that 0.5 because of the gf bun.
PRICE: 3/5. I expected to spend much less, instead we spent over 20£ for two (tiny) burgers, cheese fries and a bottle of water!
TOTAL: 4.3/5.

The place was packed but the wait and struggle for a table was worthwhile, the burger and the fries were really good and it's hard to find a decent burger anywhere, although it's not my usual meal, this one I found great, the bread was very good, the size was perfect, the taste and it was well cooked, plus the rush of being in this busy place in central London is part of the experience.

Having had plenty of burgers when I lived near Boston, I was really keen on checking out what were the differences overseas. The burgers are damn delicious, the epitome of juicyness, very close to the originals back in the States. Could be the nostalgia lens acting up, but I also felt the burger I asked (double cheese with lettuce, onion and tomato) was "assembled" to be done quickly and not so much to deliver that extra niceness. Quite literally, all ingredients were packed together, almost sorted by type, which is a shame and was a let down. Still tasted great but wasn't the same, sloppy. The setting is great, if you know the area, Covent Garden is a vey iconic area of London and just a great place to visit and be.

Shake Shack has now become an unmissable food stop in New York. It’s amazing to see how it started from a humble food cart and now it’s this global sensation nowadays. It has set its foot in London since 2015 and has been expanding in this city ever since. If you’ve tried in any of their Middle East or Turkey branches, Shake Shack definitely serves some delicious burgers. However when in the UK, we are all limited to their vegetarian Mushroom burger. But GREAT NEWS here because all Shake Shack branches in London now serves halal chicken!

Well being a vegetarian i may be biased on the ratings here.
We hardly get any veg options and if its veg its mostly mushrooms,
In this case a giant portobello mushroom in a cheesy patty.
I would have paid double if i could get an option to discard mushroom, unfortunately they dint had one.

Cheese fries were great, i mean u cant get wrong with fries and that too with cheese

Deserts were our saviour, we literally hogged on it
Initially we all went berserk for vanilla shake & Bigblend
When we were repeating the same order, staff recommended that black and white is a better alternative
Well he wasnt wrong !

The only letdown of the burger itself was the patty, it has this muffin like taste, which am not a big fan for a burger bun.

I am a bit tired of the American food/burgers galore trend HOWEVER shake shack does my all time favourite burger.

I am a meat eater but ALWAYS plump for their mushroom burger - a breadcrumbed mushroom filled with cheese that oooozes out as you bite in, salad and a brioche bun.

For starters it tastes INCREDIBLE, and if I'm passing I always contemplate a burger here. It also looks great! Almost like a cartoon its so perfect looking!

Cheese fries also good. But the mushroom burger is defo the main event here. HIGHLY recommended.

I'm so vehemently against fast food (unless it's after drinking) that its surprising I'm even rating this joint. I certainly didn't expect the burger to be as delicious and succulent as it was. As for the cut fries, you can never go wrong with those either. Still to try the shakes, but if they're on par with the burgers - which they should be considering the name - go for it! Good for a budget meal in Covent Garden or if you're just a fan of fast food (but not the papery McDonald's mind 😉). Being in Covent garden's open courtyard also has its advantages since it's
an open area that you an sit in, and there's often live music playing there too!

FINALLY! The last time I had Shake Shack was Madison Park NY back in 2012 and I’d been hanging out for another burger for so so long.

I also wanted to make sure I wasn’t thinking it was still the best burger I’ve had through rose tinted glasses.

I’m happy to say it’s not the case. Still as good as ever.

Shack Burger - I went with the double as I remember the single being a little bit too small for me. So glad I did. Juicy, cooked medium, soft bun, melted cheese, bit of lettuce and fresh tomato. Calling this one Jake Stringer from now on because it is the package, and it is big time.

Crinkle Cut fries - Tasty, crispy, the right size too.

Peanut Butter Shake - C’mon people, you know this is the flavour to get. And it delivers so so well. Amazing.

All in all I will be back so many times to wait in that 20 minute line to get a burger. My god it feels like heaven.

I've been a New Yorker so have a soft spot for the best concrete and cheese fries place. Was happy to see the new branch in Europe!

It is as good as the New York one with little minor tweaks in menu to technically differentiate themselves. But still love the concept and it works.

They have huge huge seating place but it is scattered in different zones. Dont compromise on small or sun exposed seats and ask the staff about additional seating.

My only problem, high price. But hey, its Europe, nothing is cheap except for air to breathe.

Do I like beer - yes. Do I like ice cream - yes. Do I like beer and ice cream in the same glass - apparently yes, very much so. Those clever people down at Shake Shack have teamed up with chocolate makers Mast Brothers to create an incredible and very limited edition Chocolate Beer Float (£5.00). I went down to the launch yesterday to try it out, along with a smoke-shack burger and fries (obvs) and I can confirm it tastes like a dream.

This week only Shake Shack and Mast Brothers are teaming up to present a limited edition Chocolate Beer Float. Available at the Covent Garden Shake Shack location through Sunday 23 August, the float costs £5 and combines the Shack’s vanilla frozen custard with Mast Brother’s non-alcoholic chocolate beer served together in a Govino wine glass.

I’m sure you’ve noticed by now that there’s something entirely lemming-like about the food blogger. The similarity between us and the little creatures is quite remarkable – and no, I’m not referring to the curvature of our stomachs, nor the grasping claws, perfect for snatching up complimentary edible bribes. Moreover, I mean the way in which we follow each other – totally blindly – to a particular restaurant, when a dozen alternatives are on offer. And for this particular establishment, Shake Shack in Covent Garden, I must be the very last in the long line of lemmings knocking on the door to sample those now famous crinkly fries.

Best burgers in London for sure. We thoroughly enjoyed this little burger joint. Heard a few things about Shake Shack from people who travelled to London and it definitely lived up to its hype! Super busy so it's sometimes hard to find a seat. This place was a real treat and in a great area too! Can't wait to have them again! One happy customer

Food: Shake shack is always promising comfort food: a burger, fries, and a malted shake are perfect for rainy London. And your vegetarian friends don't need to be left out because the shroom burger is a pretty good option for them 😊

Ambience: No frills, in the heart of tourist central, almost always crowded

Service: Self-service, prompt, friendly staff

I'm so stoked to have Shake Shack around the corner even if admittedly, nothing would ever beat the overall feel of the Central Park shack in New York. Some would say it's a glorified Maccas (gasp!) but these world-famous burgers are seriously some of the most comforting burgers you'll ever have. Fuss-free, fast, and pretty tasty.

Centrally located in Covent Garden in the main square, groups of people come flocking daily to grab a quick bite of the antibiotic-free Angus beef burgers. The heavy accentuation on how only natural and premium ingredients are used, makes this the place to go to, over its other fast-food competitors. Unlike most burgers, they use very soft buns, the actual meat of the burger is on the thin side, and the lettuce can be more generous but all-in-all, Shake Shack burgers are easy to eat, great for the taste buds, and served pretty quickly. (I think you would probably classify them as a fast-food chain). Cheesy fries are heaven, they’re my favourite. Crinkle cut Yukon fries, crunchy, and not oily.

Shake Shack restaurant in Covent Garden is a burger diner style restaurant. Unfortunately the branches in the UK do not offer a halal option, so we opted for the 'Shroom Burger (vegetarian)', which was a crisp-fried portobello mushroom filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheeses, topped with lettuce, tomato and their signature ShackSauce. The melted cheese erupted & oozed out of the portobello mushroom, coating the mouth with divine flavours, scintillating the senses from a hunger coma. The burger was truly heavenly. The only criticism is that the burger was a bit on the small size, plus it would be great if Shake Shack invested in some halal options.

After my amazing burger at Patty & Bun, I was keen to check out other burger joints in town. Shake Shack had come up highly recommended, so I was happy to try their food. While it was delicious, I have to say I didn't think their burgers were as good as Patty & Bun, and not as good value for money.

If I find myself close to a Shake Shack though & in the mood for burgers, I would go back.

I really enjoyed the Shake Shack, it is a slightly higher price for what is essentially fast food but I think for the flavour it is worth a bit extra.

We had shackmeisters and cheesy chips which were really tasty. Service was quick as we were sat down a server came over and collected our ordered from the hatch for us.

I had the sticky toffee concrete after which was divine, by far the scrummiest icecream I have had in ages.

The were two. bad points though, my friends cup of lemonade was over half full of ice which wasn't good value for money. Also when I went up to get us dessert my friend wanted another wine and they refused to serve it unless I ordered another portion of chips. I explained we had just eaten there and this was a second glass but the server wouldn't serve us until the manager agreed we could have a second glass without the chips.

Other than that we had a fab time stuffing our faces!

The food was excellent with all the tasty ingredients which make us remember its flavor even now and it is also very well priced for the location. View is really great!! We will definitely go to this place again soon whenever we visit London. I recommend this place to all.

The food was great, filling and damn food. I don't know if that was partly due to us not eating for most of the day and we sat through a whole theatre performance with practically no food in the system.

I love a good burger.

What makes a good burger for me is the meat patties. It must contain a high percentage of fatty meat (not flour based), grilled to perfection according to your liking, and should be juicy when you take a bite. Shake shack makes such patties.

The menu says the patties are “cooked medium unless otherwise requested”. I normally like my patties medium to well done (I don’t like the look of raw mince meat), but the patties at Shake Shack are quite thin (we’re talking approx 1cm thickness, rather than inches like GBK or Byron patties) so I didn’t need to worry much about raw meat.

Their “Cheeseburger” (£5) – as a standard it comes with a single meat pattie, lettuce, tomato, pickle, and onion. I added Shack Sauce for an extra £1

The buns are super soft, and tastes almost like a sweet bun, rather than regular burger buns. The veggies are fresh, and cheese (cheddar, I think) melts just the right amount and gives a soft cushiony feel just before you hit the meat. Good meat-bun-veg ratio. Overall, it’s a pretty damn good cheeseburger.

The burger looks quite small, but it’s actually quite filling. I’d say if you plan to get sides then a single decker is good enough for an average eater, otherwise go for double patties.

We also tried their hot dogs. It’s a very small hot dog, but packed with quality. The sausage alone is OH MY GOD. It’s meaty, spicy, smoky, and grilled to perfection. It tastes more like a chorizo than a hot dog sausage. We love chorizos, so we may be a bit biased here.

The hot dog bun is again well grilled. The condiments aplenty – tomato, cucumber, pickle, chilli, a load of onions, and some really tasty green sauce.

Now, the sides: You can get two types of fries: normal (left in the photo) or cheesey (right). The fries are crinkle cuts, so that’s a +10 points for us.

For drinks, we ordered the “fifty-fifty” – that is 50% lemonade and 50% iced tea. This was the biggest let-down. You can’t taste the lemonade… and you can only barely taste the iced tea. So it tastes more like a diluted iced tea. Not worth it at all. Don’t get it unless you like diluted iced tea.

Overall, it’s a good burger/hot-dog meal. If you’re in covent garden and crave a good burger, go for it. They have a no reservation policy though, and there seems to always be a queue. However, the queue does move pretty quickly, so you may only need to wait 15-30 mins before you can enjoy this US-franchise burger house.

Tasty burger, custard a bit meh. Was hungry going to this place and I hoovered down the food. Had the double burger and it tasted really good - not too big though. The crinkle cut fries with cheese weren't that special but the shake was really really good. The frozen "custard" ie ice cream wasn't very special - basically it was a McFlurry.

Having seen the hordes of people queueing for the Shake Shack in Covent Garden at the launch and weeks after I decided to check out what all the fuss was about.  With sizeable indoor and outdoor dining areas the rent for the floor space must be astronomical.  I would later understand how the whole venture was viable. We visited on an overcast Thursday evening and thankfully the queue was only some twenty deep and it moved along swiftly.  Umbrellas were handed out to those who wanted them; luckily it was only drizzling for a little while.  Menus were also provided to combat queue boredom.  The windy queue is right in front of the outdoor dining area and this helped me to decide what to order by ogling the orders of all the patrons.  The crinkle cut chips looked different and tempting, although without the cheese topping as that looked a tad too unhealthy with my eating habits lately. All of the burgers were served in paper wraps so that you could see and eat them without too much mess.

Located in the heart of Covent Garden, the layout of this Shake Shack is quite different from its counterparts in New York as the restaurant is spread across several rooms where the ordering booth is separated from the dining areas. These are split into an indoor space (perfect for the chilly winters) and a large dining area under the market canopy, which was the perfect setting on a hot summer day like this. Despite having to wait almost an hour, the line seemed to move quite quickly and smoothly and the staff was kind enough to offer us samplings of their delicious chocolate custard ice cream as well as

There is serious hype surrounding this burger restaurant (and another one called Five Guys). I had read about 5 articles about both of these burger restaurants, both from America and both located in Covent Garden, before they had opened, then since they have opened have read about 30 reviews and have tried really hard to stay away from this hype as I did not want to make this restaurant a destination, I wanted to go there when I was in the vicinity and hungry, so in a way I did not want food to dictate my life, but when I told my boyfriend about this burger place, he got super excited and really wanted to come here on a Saturday lunch time and then I knew, there was no way how I could avoid the hype and I was going there like any other London foodie. Last time I was in New York I tried Shake Shack for the first time and added my name to the American burger chain's long list of fans from native New Yorkers to the NYFW clan and thousands of tourists. It started as a hot dog cart in Manhattan's Madison Square Park in 2001 and has pretty much reach cult status over the pond.  And it's worth the hype, worth the queue. London has enjoyed an explosion of burger joints in the past few years, including the opening of Shake Shack's first British outpost in the Covent Garden piazza earlier this summer. We visited to relive the joys of our NYC trip, ordering classic cheese burgers, fries and, to try something new, a hot dog to share before finishing off with rich, creamy ice cream desserts. So good . The burgers are made from 100% Aberdeen Angus beef from grass-fed cows in Scotland, cooked medium, served with big handfuls of fresh green lettuce leaves, large slices of tomatoes and the classic ShackBurger is served with its special ShackSauce.

The American burger chain Shake Shack opened its first set of doors on UK soil earlier this month, specifically on Covent Garden soil and only a week apart from one of its largest American competitors, Five Guys. They, and others, have been riding the crest of the wave that is the recent and all-encompassing UK burger resurgence. Even the vegans amongst us would have found it difficult to ignore burger joints springing up across the capital like rodents on a Whac-A-Mole arcade game - Dirty Burger, Honest Burgers, Mother Flipper, Meat Liquor, Patty & Bun, to name a few. And people are going crazy for them, rushing to sample with a fervour like they’re on commission. With PR machines and social media working overtime to create trending hashtags and an Instagram meltdown prior and during openings, launches of these fast-food-with-finesse joints have seen early adopters queuing for tens of minutes at a time to be one of the first to get their chops around the newest best burger in town.

Let me introduce you to the concept of anti-hype. Shake Shack set the bar high from the start. They made it clear that they’d only be serving grass-fed Aberdeen angus beef patties and cooking them medium. They also promised us wondrous sounding desserts called concretes, using some of the best ingredients around. However, after reading a number of disparaging reviews and negative first-hand accounts from friends, a thought occurred. Was it all just hype and marketing spin? Last weekend, we finally decided to find out for ourselves and planned our trip with great precision. Since opening its doors, Shake Shack London has been attracting queues that would make even Meat Liquor jealous and we were determined to...

In New York, I tried my first Shake Shack and so added my name to the thousands of Shake Shack fans around the world. Our first Shake Shack outing was in Manhattan’s Madison Square garden on one of the hottest days of a New York summer. My 2nd outing was in a Christmas setting at the outlet’s new London opening in Covent Garden.  Festive baubles and a mulled wine on the side and we’re sitting in open air seating surrounded by festive shoppers. The menu comprises of burgers and hot dogs in the meat category and frozen custards for dessert.  I want a cream soda float, but for some strange reason despite the menu saying Cream soda, what the Covent Garden outlet actually serves is Fanta.  Not cool. I order the Shack-Cago dog, a standard hot dog with all the best of the American condiments arranged on top – onion, mustard, relish and all that is good. The fries are pretty standard fare, but the dog is one of the best.  Good quality meat, no nasty gritty bits and the toppings seal the deal.

It was sheer madness, I tell myself. I just had a heavy dinner and got this sudden urge to check out the burger joints, which are so popular in New York and both have now established their branches in Covent Garden. I don't know what got into me but I sent a message to AR and we are at Convent Garden at 9.30pm that very same night. AR, who has spent some time in New York has been raving about the burger joints almost the moment they are opened in London. "You must try them," he said, "they are absolutely the best!" I am two minds about giving both Five Guys and Shake Shack a go one after another but decide that that would be pure madness and a recipe for serious indigestion, especially unwise

Localized in the Covent Garden, Shake Shack is a great a place to eat a truly kick ass burger. The orders take a while but I always prefer to wait a bit and have a memorable meal and shake shack delivered that.
I asked for a smokeshack burger with simple fries. The burger was amazingly tasty, the toppings were so rich and complemented each other so well. The meat was well seasoned. I will say that altough you get completely full, the price for a single burger is a bit high.
About the fries, this for me was the hero, I did not asked for the cheesy because I was doing take away and almost immediately regret it. The fries was probably the best fries I tried, crunchy, tasty, hot and mouth watering. I would pay for them whatever they asked me and I would definitely come back just for them!

Tender, flavourful and mouth-wateringly delicious. It's not often that I use words like that to describe a meal, let alone a burger. Yet I found myself devouring Shake Shack's latest addition to the UK family - the Shakemeister. A 100% all-natural Angus beef cheeseburger topped with crispy marinated shallots and ShackSauce - what's not to love?

I paired my new favourite burger with a side of cheesy fries - surprisingly tasty by American cheese standards - which were seasoned well and perfectly crispy. My ice tea (the proper un-sugared variety) was refreshing, even on a cold February evening.

My only regret? That I didn't get to try one of ShakeShack's famous custards. Oh well, now I have an excuse to go back for seconds.

The burger tingled on my tastebuds, flavour bursting out and cooked to perfection!!! The beef itself melts in your mouth, which is such a pleasant experience. The cheesey fries oozing with cheese but still maintaining a lovely crunch and softer inside.

Hands up who hasn't heard of Shake Shack. Anyone not heard of how utterly gorgeous these burgers are both to tastebud and eyes? The rise and rise of Shake Shack both here and across the pond is so well documented, it's almost impossible not to be aware of its existence. It really has become an icon in the burger world, breaking into the echelon of the McDonald's and Burger King's in the States where a Shakeshack or Smokeshack is on par with a Big Mac and Whopper and since opening its doors just over a year ago in Covent Garden, the sight of a queue to order is now routine.

So what exactly is it that makes it so good? Is it group mentality where it's good because everyone says so? Is it hype? Or is it for real? Having waited for a few visits dotted throughout the past year until I write this post, I can say with a well rounded view (and stomach), that this really is as good as advertised.

Why? Well I'm not sure what I can say that hasn't already been said. It's not just that the individual components themselves ooze quality, but it's in the way they interact and support each other to create not just a great taste but a fantastic overall experience for the senses.

It starts with ears as the sizzling of patties in the kitchen start you on your journey. With order in hand, your eyes take over as you undress the wrapping to reveal the burger, with the classic Shakeshack burger mirroring the image of burgers we've all grown up with. Then comes the smell as the sweet aroma of Scottish Angus beef and cheese draws you in. As you pick up the burger and your fingers sink into that cloud-like potato bun, until finally the sense of the moment takes over as the combination of beef, cheese and carbs sends you on a taste adventure.

But as with all romances, it's not plain sailing with my main concern being the price. With a Shakeshack double being priced at £8 and a Smokeshack double setting you back £10, the product certainly is priced at a premium so go expecting to spend restaurant money. But would I go back? Absolutely.

If you love fast food Shake Shack is the place to be. It is located in the centre of Covent Garden. You have to queue up and place your order. You get a buzzer which will buzz when your food is ready . Shake shack has other branches as well but the one in Covent Garden has seating outside and inside.
The best things to order at shake shack are the burgers, fries and the frozen custards.
The best burger at shake shack according to me is the cheeseburger with added cheese and bacon. The patty is not very thick but decent . The patty is quite soft. The beef is medium rare , just they way I like it. I usually like to add bacon and cheese to my burger . The bacon is quite crisp and tasty. Incase you don't like beef you can try the hot dogs. The shake shack fries with cheese are just perfect with the burgers . They are crisp and crunchy and the cheese just makes them more tasty.
If you have a sweet tooth try their shakes. I really like their chocolate and fair shake.
Shake shack is the perfect meal for a cheat day.

Having originally visited the shake shack in New York before London, I knew what I was getting here and I was not disappointed. One problem was that it is more overpriced in London for what you get, but no one can deny that they make very tasty burgers which are washed down perfectly by a shake. As I said at £5 per shake, it is pretty expensive, but very yummy indeed. I will be looking to visit again when I'm in the mood for a quick bite to eat.

So for me a burger is the go to food when you're insanely hungry. Most satisfying meal after a good workout at the gym (the irony).

The shake shack burger has great flavours and tasted really good, being moist and soft, so it kind of melts away in your mouth. However, I was mildly disappointed by their proportions, which classifies the burger into the smaller burgers category.

It's situated in covent garden, which is always lovely, and has a nice outdoor seating area on the inside and outside of the jubilee market, so if you're roaming around covent garden and looking for a bite to eat, this is how you do it.

I happened to visit this place a couple of weeks ago with some of my friends and had an amazing dinner. We called for some Potato rolls and some different kinds of burgers, both of which were nicely prepared and was truly delicious. The prices were pretty reasonable as well and we had a nice overall experience.

I am a huge burger fan and this place that I visited last month was just near perfection. I loved the burger that I ordered. The bun was fresh and the sauces added just enhanced the flavour. I ordered a mushroom burger which was a little disappointment in terms of being not too fresh. The strawberry milk shake that I ordered went very well with my burger and was just the perfect one. It was neither too sweet nor did it lack any desire. Be prepared to wait for a while before you get to gorge on your meal!

If you are looking for a shack that serves amazing beverages then this is the place for you to be in. Ever since I had visited this place for the first time, I have been a regular at this place. The pricing as compared to the food and beverages served is really cheap and affordable. They do justice with the milk shakes they have to offer. Recommended.

If you happen to be a burger junkie then this is THE place for you. By far one of the best burgers I have ever tried. The pricing as per the portions served is excellent. The staff is very cooperative and very well coordinated. I would definitely recommend the Cheese Burger. It tastes ecstatic. Recommended highly.

This place has left a great impression on us and i am sure of more visits in future. This places makes into the top eight burger joints around. Cheese fries are to die for. Frozen custard is incredible. On the downsides, hog dogs are passable. The seating is limited and it can be extremely busy at times !

I was extremely hungry when i went to this place and after a quick glance at their menu i simply ordered their double burger and it was huge for my appetite and also very yummy. The hand cut fries that came as a side were good but they came without any dip which was a downer. They also do some pretty good shakes.

I recently visited this place and am quite impressed. Even though it is always packed, the customers are handled in an organized way which is a good thing for a small place. This place is really hyped and i have heard they have really really good burgers who are much better than what we are served at McDonald's or Burger King. However, the burgers are no doubt extremely tasty but slightly on drier end and was crumbling as well. I felt the seasoning less for my taste buds as well. No award winning quality rosettes either. Try it though but not with too high expectations!

This place offers decent food, Nothing over the top but good enough and satiating! Coming to what we ordered, had a shack stack, a a cheese and mushroom burger. Simple, palatable and satiating. Also ordered, A stick toffee concrete which had really good vanilla, caramel and chocolate flavors. It is a dessert with a salty edge.

There are a lot of burger joints coming to this city, most of which are simply gross. Messier and bland in taste with few hand cut fries is what usually every body serves. So i was not expecting much from this place that i went last night. But it turned out to be simply a delightful experience. Nice burgers full of flavors with equally appetizing hand cut fries cooked to perfection. Service was efficient and prompt.

This is my favourite place in London to have good and filling burgers. The place is mostly crowded with patrons, however the management is extremely efficient in managing them well. Insanely wicked, their burgers have a juicy meat filling and make the overall experience all the more sumptuous and memorable.

Honestly, I came to this place looking to try a new burger and a better off burger than McD's or Burger King, but to my utmost consideration, the burger was very dry and too hard on throat. The burger I had ordered was not really very well seasoned and the garnishing part sucked. Average.

You must visit this place if you are bored of the regular tastes of the fast food joints as they mostly taste very drab.
This place offers its patrons yummy burgers which are served with some wicked crinkle fries.
Even though I would prefer normal fries with the combination, I must say that I devour the burgers every time!

You should definitely give this place a try if you are craving for some wicked burgers!

The ordering system at Shake Shack could take some ironing out: queue up, order, take a little do-hickey that'll buzz when your food is ready, and then find a seat in one of the many, badly signed seating areas (there are three: two outside, one inside). There are a lot of staff milling about but somehow it's still not clear where you should be or what you should be doing.

However - once you get your food, you're gonna know why it was worth all that faffing. Take one bite out of your burger and you'll be glad you did. A well-informed friend of mine tells me that in Australia you can order your McDonalds burger steamed, where they compile it, and then put a dome over the top for a couple minutes, meaning that the whole thing kind of decompresses into itself, the cheese will melt and the whole thing will be deliciously gooey. I think this is what is going on here. It's a guilty, fatty, sort of squashed delight.

The cheese is American, bright yellow and glorious. The bacon is thick and crisped on the edges and melts in your mouth. The patty is on the thin side (we're taking fast food style) but still thick enough to just be cooked medium rare. And that's all there is folks. The bacon cheeseburger is exactly that: bacon, cheese, burger. No lettuce, no tomato, no sauce. And it's pretty perfect. And as for the bun, well, it's a greasy brioche number and the slight sweetness is just right next to salty innards of the burger.

As for sides, fries are crinkle cut, crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. I finished the whole thing off with a fifty/fifty (iced tea and lemonade). But a side note: my friend ordered just the iced tea and was warned that they do not sweeten it, if you like your iced tea sweet then go for the half & half.

Overall, I wasn't into the ordering/seating situation - especially not now the weather is getting so much colder and they don't have outdoor heaters - but the burger was something else.

Having visited Shake Shack in New York a few times, I'd say the burgers taste exactly the same - which is great, because they are really delicious! The only difference is that the American Shake Shacks seem to have a greater variety of custards.

My only complaint about Shake Shack is general is the quality of the chips and their milkshakes are slightly overpriced.

I am definitely not the biggest fan of fast food by any means, in fact, I can't remember the last time I went to a Mccdonalds. However, considering this place is fast food, it really is not bad at all!! The location is amazing, in the heart of Covent Garden, which just cannot be beat. The burgers I think are slightly overrated, they're decent considering it's fast food, but they don't blow other burgers I've had out of the water, mainly Patty & Bun. Considering there are better quality burgers in London, I think this place is quite expensive, especially when considering its marketed as fast food.
However, it is good, it's a decent burger at a decent price. Great for when you're in a rush and need a quick recharge of food!

FOOD: Absolutely so good. Food is awesome, I think is one of the best hamburger I had in London. Chips are quite good, the beer is not so special.
PLACE: It's always overcrowded, except Sunday night :-) especially this time of the year is perfect.
COST: Well, the food I said is very good but a bit too expensive, from the picture seems like you're gonna get a massive burger, it's quite normal size, and you're not gonna be seated in a normal restaurant but more in a poshy fast food place....
Overall worth a try but too expensive to be the "usual burger place".

Every time I craved fast food, I used to go to McDonalds or Burger King. But ever since I discovered this place, I don't go anywhere else. In the fast food category, I thing this is the best I've ever had. Even though it is fast food, it doesn't look or feel as unhealthy as the other ones do. Their burgers are delicious, the bun in itself is delicious, and the way they don't split it from end to end, just to leave a connection between the top one and the bottom one is genius, that way it's much easier to eat a burger. They can seem small, but they are so delicious and very satisfying. And you absolutely have to try their fries, their zigzag-shaped fries. They can be regular fries, or you can add melted cheese on top. Both are amazingly good, but when I get a burger I prefer the plain ones, otherwise it's too heavy. They are also very famous for their milkshakes, I tried one once, but I didn't think it was that exceptional, just good. Their burgers are a bit more expensive than a McDonalds' though, between £5 and £10, and the fries come separately , but they are totally worth every penny.

Shake Shack is my favourite burger joint in London, and is absolutely perfect for a decadent meal.

It's location is fantastic in the heart of Covent Garden, a short walk from my university, so I tend to visit quite often. There is a great outdoor eating area, which is rare for a fast food restaurant.

I had a burger, the cheese fries, and to top it all off, a large chocolate milkshake! The burger was simply phenomenal. Although it was very heavy (and unhealthy), it was a fantastic meal and I will definitely return soon.

The shake burger with cheesy fries and mayonnaise is a mouth watering combination. They have a good system of ordering and collecting ordered food.
This place is usually crowded at any time of the day. Surprising but yes people wait in the queue without any complaint.
The food is worth the wait and time spent.

I know this might seem like a Bold statement by Shake Shack really is the best burger place in London ! Located in the vibrant gallery in covent garden, Shake Shack will offer you the best quality burger  in the entire city!

The way it works is simple:

- You order your food
- You receive your vibrating remote
- When your food is ready, you simply pick up your meal and enjoy it !

I recommend trying the beef and bacon burger, the cheesy fries and as a side. Although you have to consider about £30 for two people, It is definitely worth it. This place is the closest to what real american burger experience is.

Another infamous American export, Shake Shack is known for two things - their burgers, and their frozen custard creations. The burgers are best described as drool inspiring, perfectly cooked patties with just the right amount of toppings and sauce, sandwiched into a soft bun.

The frozen custard, which is their alternative to ice cream or froyo, comes in a range of guises, from milkshakes to 'concretes' which are sort of like sundaes. I opted for a plain vanilla custard, and it was creamy, rich and a nice change from usual frozen deserts. As someone who doesn't like normal custard I was pleasantly surprised.

Overall the setting and quick service make Shake Shack a great place to get a quality burger at a fairly reasonable price, but people stay for the custard.

I love Shake Shack! Among all the high-quality fast-food is doubtlessly my favourite.

Firstly, it is located in the heart of Covent Garden, then, both if you go in a sunny day or during winter you can enjoy your meal outside- they put heaters - in a suggestive location.

Secondly, I love the way it works. You basically go order your meal and they give you a remote which vibrates when your order is ready and you go to collect it. Very innovative and efficient. Then, great service and amazing idea.

Last but not least, the food is really good. Burgers are tasty but not that heavy that makes you regret you ate it. But their forte are "Shake Shack" sauce - I have tried to reproduce it at home but it was not even similar - and the fries. I am a potato lovers and I genuinely believe, they have the most delicious fries. They are also nicely cut, perfectly golden and you can have them with melted cheese - and you really should.

It goes without saying that I recommend Shake Shack and that I would go there again, and again.

Food: American

Price: Around £20 for two people

Atmosphere: Fun, Busy, Friendly

Review: I really love Shake Schack, the size of their burger is great and their french fries are funky. Even if you have to queue for 10-15 minutes, when your order arrive you really think that it was worth it.

The restaurant is always full and busy and it is very rare to go to this place at a "quiet time". I will not recommend this place for an on-the-go meal, as you might wait a little bit and the size of the burgers does not able you to eat it quickly.

The waiters are quick, like any other fast food, and very nice, just the appearance of their burgers is very appealing and encourage you to try everything. Their milkshakes are really nice for the dessert.

When Shake Shack came to London, to say I was excited is an understatement. I couldn't wait to get my hands on a burger and their legendary cheesy fries.

Located in the heart of the Covent Garden Piazza, this branch is easily accessible for Londoners and tourists. You can choose to sit in the Piazza or in an indoor area - depending on the weather really!

The moment your buzzer lights up signals that your order is ready and I run to the counter every time!

The burger is perfectly seasoned with sauce and vegetables, the only thing is it's slightly small. However, this is made up by the large portion of cheesy fries they offer. So after having both, you definitely feel full.

With a lovely terrace right in the centre of the Covent Garden Market, this dynamic restaurant gives us the opportunity to eat great fast food with and not feel guilty about it.
Its successful story began with a food cart inside Madison Square Park and now is growing worldwide.
It is hard to decide whats to choose in the menu, everything seems divine  and teases you with some kind of food extravagance that is necessary once in a while in our lifetime.
The chosen meal was the Shack Stack burguer with Cheese Fries: a sandwich that brings together veggie burger with the classical angus burguer... a little bit of everything because yes, there we can have it all. and it was just like being hugged by my mom and dad in a cold winter night.
Plus they have good choices of beer which is a nice thing for everyone that wants to skip the diet in great style!

First we went after work when the whole world wants to eat. We queued for a good 20-30 mins which was fairly annoying since it was quite cold outside at the time. After we made our order we found outside seating and tucked in.

If you haven’t been to Shake Shack in London yet, I’m sorry. I’m just sorry. You really don’t know what you’re missing.

Sunny friends, let me give you 5 reasons why you must go to Shake Shack. Now!
1. Shake Shack is the best deal for a burger.

You may remember the Burger and Lobster review I wrote a few months ago. I was very impressed by the quality of the burger. However, the price tag is a whopping £20. The Double Shack Cheeseburger is £7.50. It’s 100% Aberdeen angus beef, which is grass fed on Scottish pastures. It’s damn juicy.
In fact, it’s served wrapped tightly in paper. By the time you are finished, the paper is soaked, your hands are gooey, and your stomach is full!
Mr. Sunny’s Smoke Shack (Cheeseburger topped with British free range Wiltshire cure smoked bacon, chopped cherry pepper and Shack Sauce)
2. Shake Shack has beer.

Unlike typical other street burger joints, Shake Shake also has beer and wine (white, red and rose). Although I skipped the wine options, Mr. Sunny was very excited about having beer with his beefcake. He happily washed them down together. Ahhhhhh!
3. Shake Shack has custard.

For the month of April, Shake Shack featured these flavours:
- Monday, Honey Roasted Peanut
- Tuesday, Arabic Coffee Crunch
- Wednesday, Chocolate Mint Fudge
- Thursday, Strawberry Blonde
- Friday, Malted Marshmallow Milk Chocolate
- Saturday, Salted Caramel
- Sunday, Red Velvet
Custard is always a great way to get a scoop of inner sunshine!

If you’re curious about May, keep an eye on their Custard Calendar.
4. Shake Shack is in Covent Garden.

Sunny readers know this is my favourite place in the world. While I’m not a fan of the constant flood of tourists, I adore the charm of this London area. Shake Shack is located in the heart of the historic market building.
They offer you the option of eating either inside or out.
And, they do a really fabulous job of monitoring the queue. Mr. Sunny and I got lucky the day we visited. However, don’t be surprised if you have to wait for your juicy adventure in these…It’s worth it. Trust me.
5. They’re very active on social media.

As a blogger, I pay close attention to how a company or small business engages with followers on social media. Shake Shack is a sure thing!

They seem to follow back and retweet everyone who reaches out to them. I love that. They’re one of my favourite Twitter accounts to follow.

They make following them worth your while by having promotions you don’t want to miss…
Finally, they’re truly marketing geniuses. With the most photogenic burger in the town, Shake Shack rocks the mother of all Instagram accounts…
So, there’s 5 solid reasons why you need to shake, shake, shake your booty on over to Shake Shack. I’ve also had the pleasure of enjoying Shake Shack at the JFK airport in New York City. The quality of food and service is equally as outstanding.

Get thee to Shake Shack, Sunny friends…

You might be thinking to yourselves; "does she eat anything other than burgers?" The answer is of course, yes, but i choose to eat mainly burgers - they've got your carbs, protein, and vegetable intake all in one sizeable meal.

So of course the #burgertour continues and we decided to pop our little heads and large appetites in to the Covent Garden branch of Shake Shack.

Shake Shack is essentially Mcdonalds/Burger King in a prom dress; not because of the quality of the food, but because of the service. You're given a laminated menu, queue in this tiny room, place your order, and then you're given a buzzer and asked to wait until...well...it buzzes. There was no character, or much of a personal feel that you would get at a restaurant, just a fast service.

I ordered the SmokeShack (Cheeseburger topped with British free range Wiltshire cured bacon, chopped cherry pepper and ShakeSauce) as well as the cheese fries; I was a bit hesitant about the crinkle cut chips, because I always feel that they're super soggy, and that is just nastaay. But, one thing I will tell you is that these chips... oh my... a crispy exterior with an incredibly soft centre. Absolute perfection.

Now, the cheese on these chips deserves it's own paragraph. I don't know whether it was cheese sauce, American cheese,or some sort of cornflour concoction - but, I don't know how I feel about the cheese, as it genuinely didn't taste of anything. Absolutely, nothing. I might as well have eaten the carboard along with the chips. Next time I'll most definitely be getting the plain fries - lesson learnt.

Now on to the main thing, the burger, I genuinely found the portion size rather small (truth be told, I felt like a giant handling a child's burger) but I did purchase the single - you can opt for a double if you want. The beef patty isn't your usual uniformed circular shape, but I quite liked that, it felt more fresh and handmade, not as processed as other fast food joints.

The patty itself was moist (God, I hate that word), but I felt in comparison to some of the burgers I've tasted, it did lack seasoning. However, the cherry peppers gave it that beautiful amount of spice and crunch that it craved. I like the idea that this company has come across the pond to grace us with their culinary delights, and has actually adopted things like Wiltshire cured bacon as part of their menu; it makes for a great talking point, and in today's market where everyone wants to know where things are sourced, it's great to highlight local ingredients.

You'll often find people queuing, or going out of their way to park their bottoms over at Shake Shack. But, I feel that whilst this brand attempts fast and tasty finger food through their own personality and ethos, they're not as individual as they think - the ShackSauce was essentially just burger sauce.

My negative comments aside, it was fairly reasonable in price (about £12ish), and the food was pretty tasty - it just wasn't the best I've ever had.

I know I’m a bit late on this one, but you’ll soon forgive me as the food porn is well worth the wait.

Shake Shack finally floated across the pond and swung open its doors smack bang in the middle of Covent Garden early July this year.
Londoners & expats alike queued up for hours, desperate to get a bite of New York’s famous burgers.

I was away in America at the time, but as soon as I returned, I was determined to size up London’s most recent burger addition.

Now I know what you’re thinking, another bloody burger restaurant!?

The critics and bloggers went wild for the much anticipated arrival, not all of which particularly enjoyed their bite of the American style burger.
Yet, Shake Shack soldiered on, with their Covent Garden venue being complately packed out everyday.

When I finally got the chance, I marched my way down to Covent Garden ready to well and truly tuck in after all that pre-holiday healthy eating.

I perused the menu before making my choice.
I of course had to go for the classic Shack Burger, a cheeseburger topped with lettuce, tomato and ShackSauce.
What’s ShackSuace? you ask.
A crazy combination of mayonnaise, ketchup, mustard, dill pickle, garlic powder, paprika and cayenne pepper which is then slathered all over your burger like frosting on a cake.

Since this was a celebratory feast of sorts (celebrating the opening of Shake Shack, obviously) I also decided I needed to try the SmokeShack Burger. This is an utterly filthy cheeseburger topped with a glorious combination of British free range Willshire cure smoked bacon, chopped cherry peppers and ShacksSauce.

To accompany the burgers, a mandatory order of crinkle cut fries was made.

The burgers themselves were great, chips were crunchy and delicious, but I realised what has all the critics’ knickers in a twist.

London’s recent burger blow up has been all about the gourmet burger.
Shake Shack’s fast food contestant doesn’t fight at the same weight as London’s other competitors, which is why there has been a little let down amongst diners.
It is however, a delicious fast food burger made from good quality ingredients, served in a darling atmosphere.

Now for you Shake Shack virgins, I have one final tip.
Order a concrete.
What’s a concrete you ask? all bright eyed with wonder.
A concrete is a heavenly dessert of dense frozen custard ice cream that has been blended at a high speed and is served with your choice of mix-ins.

Chocolate and vanilla custard with marshmallow sauce was delicious…

The chocolate and vanilla custard topped with peanut butter and gooey chocolate hazlenut brownies from St. JOHN Bakery.
Swoon!

Now if you’re still reading and haven’t immediately run down to Shake Shack to join the queue, just remember to gauge your expectations.
The burgers are great and venue is perfect for a group meal with friends or fun date.

Had my first Shake Shack experience and was impressed, although not blown away. The restaurant in Covent Garden piazza had massive queues when it opened, but was easy to get served and find a seat when I went there last week. They have loads of tables on both sides of the restaurant, inside and out.
When you order you are given a pager that goes off when your meal is ready and you collect it through a hatch in the side of the restaurant.
Having eaten a shedload of beef burgers of late I decided to order Shake Shack's vegetarian option, the Shroom, which consists of a crisp-fried crumbed portobello mushroom, with tomato, lettuce and the restaurant's signature ShackSauce. It looked kinda small compared to some of the other burgers in town, but was delicious. Melted muenster and cheddar cheese oozed out at the first bite, and combined with the really thick mushroom and ShackSauce for a great overall taste. For vegetarians, who are often paid lip sevice by eateries, this is a cracking, tasty option and I'd recommend it to anyone - carnivores alike.
I was less impressed with the cheesey fries. They look good but the cheese goes cold and hardens pretty quickly, and they're not as tasty as I'd hoped for.
I also ordered some Jungle concrete - a tub of frozen custard with marshmallows. This was incredibly sweet and not really my thing, but would be perfect for children and sweet tooths. In fact Shake Shack in general is a good family restaurant your kids will get a buzz out of.
All in all it was pretty good - the burger was fantastic - but the sides super-slick on a par with big, established fast food franchises. The ingredients are all premium and the price (£5.25 for the Shroom) good value compared to a lot of its gourmet burger rivals.

Been here twice now and both experiences were pleasant. The first time I went, there was a long queue for the food and it wasn't the easiest of tasks to find somewhere to sit. However the queue did end up moving along quite quickly. The second time I went, there was no queue and my friends and I managed to get a comfortable booth inside.
During both if my visits I had the portobello mushroom burger (the only vegetarian burger) with the cheese on fries. The burger is definitely tasty but in my opinion it contained a bit too much cheese. So the second time I went here, I just shared the burger with a friend, who is also vegetarian.
The cheese on fries, on the other hand, were simply amazing! The best cheese on fries I've had anywhere. The fries are crinkle cut and are light and fluffy and the cheese was so tasty and definitely not too much in terms of taste. It was the perfect combination and you don't feel like you've just eaten a block of fat! I almost got up to order another dish!
It's definitely a top end fast food restaurant, where the food is of great quality and taste....I would recommend going to Shake Shack if it's a quick and easy, yet tasty meal you're looking for.

Wow wow wow!
Shake Shack is up there in the top five burgers. Had the Shake Stack burger which took me for surprise when i bit into the breaded portobello mushroom. Cheese just burst out all onto the burger, which for me was a great shock to the taste buds so that topped it up for the day. Also had the shack cago dog (hot dog) which was also a good touch but not being a fan of celery should have gone for something else, such as another burger. All in all it was one of the best burger experiences to date and would be visiting more regularly.

Just as the Shake Shack & Five Guys burgerbuzz was starting to die down, some numpty wrote an article in The Sunday Times on 2013 food trends, thanking the two American chains for bringing great burgers to London. I never got round to writing up my trips as I was pretty underwhelmed, but now seems the right time to put it up.

One can only assume this "expert" was living under a rock for most of the year, and somehow failed to notice the pre-existing London front-runners (Patty&Bun, BBQ Whiskey Beer, MEATliquor, Tommi's Burger Joint, Dirty Burger, Honest Burgers, BOOM Burger, Disco Bistro and more). I appreciate that the average person may not have heard of many of them, but the average person isn't writing a foodie article for a national newspaper. Surely Byron (who continue to do great things) and GBK deserve most of the credit for pushing burgers forward here a few years ago? It was a lazy, ill-informed piece of journalism that hopefully won't influence too many Londoners looking to get on board the burger train in 2014. Anyway, here are my thoughts:

Wednesday 17th July - Back in July, we needed to see what all the fuss was about, though not at the expense of 90 minutes of my life on the opening weekend when Murray was powering through his Wimbledon semi-final. We went along a week or two later, and bravely decided to go to both burger joints in the same lunch time.

First up was Shake Shack in Covent Garden Piazza. Will and I were ushered into the fast moving queue and given some menus to peruse. We discussed our eating tactic for the day ahead, and were joined by Taro just as we made it to the front (15 minutes queue at lunch time). Shake Shack is a well oiled machine, and we were soon handed our food collection buzzers before going off in search of a table.

The collection system works fine until you order alcohol, which they have to serve to the table themselves. I therefore had a fairly awkward walk to my seat carrying my burger on a tray whilst a waitress brought my pint of Shackmeister Ale, a tasty draught lager brewed for them by Brooklyn Brewery. There are other interesting bottled beer options too.

The SmokeShack burger (cheese & bacon) was pretty tasty and disappeared within a few seconds. The meat was nicely cooked, the buns were pleasingly squishy and the mysterious ShackSauce held its own. The simpler Shackburger (cheeseburger) also got a thumbs up. The Shack Stack sounds interesting with both a cheeseburger and a crisp-fried portobello mushroom stuffed with cheese inside. The burgers are fairly good value (£4.75-£9) though they are on the small side. They also have a range of hot dogs, all under £5. The crinkle cut fries are disappointing, but don't spoil the meal.

On the dessert front Shake Shack put in more effort than most, serving up a wide range of ice creams ("Frozen Custard") in milkshake and "concrete" formats with some tempting varieties such as the Union Jack - chocolate custard, St.John Bakery chocolate brownie, fudge sauce, Paul.A.Young chocolate chunks and sea salt. We happily shared a large double (£6.50) between three. Bizarrely, they also sell dog treats!

When you’re chatting to a member of staff at the one of the most eagerly awaited restaurants to hit London, the last thing you expect them to say is ‘I don’t really rate the burgers, I prefer GBK‘. This guy seemed genuinely flummoxed at Shake Shack’s popularity. We were mildly amused, but also saddened that the staff may not be as passionate as the customers.

More than a week late to the party, the huge Covent Garden site was still heaving. Meanwhile, a (passionate this time) member of staff flown in from New York admires the building crowd. He said the queue waiting time has been a steady 45 minutes since Shake Shack opened their first UK site on July 5th. But we know for a fact that the queue has been longer – a group of ‘friends of friends’ bought a box of lager and ‘made a night of it’, such is the appeal of this burger mecca. Sat in the piazza while opera booms out from below us we felt like tourists in London, in a good way, not an eating at an Aberdeen Steak House sense.

I recently got into Shake Shack. Their burgers are yummy and juicy and their crinkle cut fries are delicious. If you can get there at a time when it's not crowded, you can grab a nice seat in the middle of Covent Garden and the line shouldn't be too long. Their frozen custard is well worth trying but it is their burgers where they win - small but delicious meat.

Yes, it is true! Shake Shack, the upscale fast food chain from the US, has crossed the big pond and opened its first London shack!

My friends in the US are constantly raving about Shake Shack burgers. I had never tried one before so couldn’t wait to see what the hype was all about.

Opened earlier this month on American Independence Day, Shake Shack has a spectacular location in London’s busy Covent Garden Piazza Market.

Pictured here is the Shack Shack seating area in the middle of the market.

The bad news: the dreaded queue (or line!). We Brits love to queue which means that the Shake Shack queue is long and often spills out of the market on to the street.

The good news: the queue looks worse than it actually is thanks to a super quick and efficient order management process.

Hubby waited patiently in the queue while I grabbed the first table in sight. Order was placed within 20 minutes and ready for pick up in another 8 minutes. Not bad, considering we expected to be waiting for at least 45 minutes in the queue itself!

I ordered the single ShackBurger (Cheeseburger topped with lettuce, tomato and Shack Sauce), hubby went for the double SmokeShack (Cheeseburger topped with British free range Wiltshire cured smoke bacon, chopped cherry pepper and ShackSauce). We shared the Cheesy Fries and the Frozen Marshmallow Custard & Brownie with our hungry toddler!

To be honest, I expected a giant, sloppy mess and was surprised by the relatively dainty burger placed before me. One bite, and I was sold! It was as gorgeous as it looks. What I liked most was that I didn’t feel uncomfortably full after my meal – it was the perfect size.

The crinkled, cheesy fries were the right balance of crispy and gooey. I fought my toddler for these!! Truly drool worthy!

I didn’t care for the frozen marshmallow custard too much but the boys seemed to enjoy it!

Shake Shack prides itself on its high quality food, made with premium ingredients and sold at fast food prices and they most certainly get it right!

In addition to burgers, the Shake Shack menu also includes a variety of hot dogs and shakes. The veggie option, aka Shroom Burger (Crisp fried portobello mushroom filled with melted cheese, topped with lettuce, tomato and ShackSauce) seems quite popular and looks fabulous too. I definitely plan on ordering the Shroom Burger next time!

Loved my first Shake Shack experience and will be back for more as soon as the burger craving strikes again. Definitely the best high end fast food burger in London town!!

Those Americans have been invading London; during the summer we saw Five Guys and Shake Shack open in the Covent Garden area. One night “V” and I was on a spontaneous night out. It was around 7pm, stumbling around the Covent Garden market area, there was hardly and queues and we seized the chance. Given a menu, and only being slightly hungry I went for the “Shack Stack” and “Cheese Fries”. I love the branding; it’s cute, simple and inviting.

The Shack stack is a cheeseburger, stuffed with a huge crisp fried breaded mushroom stuffed with cheese. Topped with lettuce and tomatoes, shack shake uses Martin rolls, toasted in butter to give it the soft texture and sweet flavour. The mushroom was absolutely gorgeous, meaty and tasty, and the beef had a good intense flavouring.

The cheese fries, had a nice runny sauce and hand cut, twice fried with a crisp like texture. It was the highlight of my meal. Avoid the fresh brewed ice tea, it was watered down and had no flavour whatsoever.

In New York, I tried my first Shake Shack and so added my name to the thousands of Shake Shack fans around the world. Our first Shake Shack outing was in Manhattan's Madison Square garden on one of the hottest days of a New York summer.

My 2nd outing was in a Christmas setting at the outlet's new London opening in Covent Garden. Festive baubles and a mulled wine on the side and we're sitting in open air seating surrounded by festive shoppers.

The menu comprises of burgers and hot dogs in the meat category and frozen custards for dessert. I want a cream soda float, but for some strange reason despite the menu saying Cream soda, what the Covent Garden outlet actually serves is Fanta. Not cool.

I order the Shack-Cago dog, a standard hot dog with all the best of the American condiments arranged on top - onion, mustard, relish and all that is good.

The fries are pretty standard fare, but the dog is one of the best. Good quality meat, no nasty gritty bits and the toppings seal the deal.

Having heard a lot about Shake Shack I finally decided to give it a try this weekend. This is of course one of the many burger joints which have recently became the rage around town. And just like me I am sure you know someone who has claimed that this is the definitive best amongst the lot - so I really wanted to know what the fuss is about !

The thing I noticed when I got here was the size of the place. There is a lot of seating ! This is a good thing as it is generally quite annoying to go to one of these famous burger places only to have to wait in queue for 30-45min just to get seated (think meat liquor or patty & bun)

I also appreciate the fact that menu is small and succinct. There is no fuss about creating 10 or 15 burgers and a myriad of choice of sides. They keep it simple. There is basically the beef burger and then the vegetarian shroom burger or a combo of the two. And on the side there is either the fries or the cheese fries.

Now the important bit - how does it all taste then? I mean there is little to fault to it, the burger is good. But at the same time I would not go all ga-ga about it neither. It is NOT some magical burger which makes you crave for more and NOR is it the best burger you will ever eat. It's just a very good burger- done about right the way it should be done.

I'd probably come back here just for the convenience of being in the middle of covent garden and knowing I'd probably not need to queue up long for food. And also that the food is decent. But don't go here thinking it's gonna change the way you think about burgers or give you some amazing culinary experience.

It's simple
It's efficient
It's good
And also it's inexpensive!

I do a lot of things ‘as a matter of principle’. Often a guise for what is essentially my unequivocal stubbornness, wave a ‘principle counter’ over me and my reading is click-clicking off the chart. While this may initially sound like a virtuous trait, it really isn’t.

For example, when driving, I will continue ahead in my correct lane even though I know the cretin next to me in the wrong lane also wants to carry on forwards. By neither of us dropping back, it is inevitable we will bump cars. But I am in the right, he is in the wrong. I am therefore exempt from any bolts of wrath and misfortune from above. And so I don’t move, as a matter of principle. Personal beliefs still upheld, but car bumped (true story).

At few other points in life do I flex my muscles of principle more than when the latest fad is sweeping the nation. Fifty Shades of Grey, Angry Birds, Harlem shaking, planking are all examples of crap crazes I have refused to entertain, as a matter of principle. If it pleases the masses, the bitter cynic in me makes the immediate assumption it won’t please me. Turns out my theory doesn’t have a 100% success rate; who knew.

As a matter of principle, I have refused to be swept up in these initial fanatical flurries of overzealous and disproportional activity, whilst at the same time reading reviews with the simultaneously furrowed and cocked brow of a sceptic.

However, I did eat in a Shake Shack in NYC a couple of years back. And I do recall it being very good. And on that basis and that basis alone, in the name of objective comparison, I saw it my duty to see what this Covent Garden store had to offer. That was definitely my soul motivation..

Situated in the old Market Building at the centre of Covent Garden, Shake Shack comprises of the premises housing a band of cash registers backed by the kitchen and only al fresco seating (although dining areas are covered by the Market Building roof).

Along with your name, you give your order to the well trained and smiling till staff and a buzzer you’re handed makes a racket once the food is ready to collect from the pick-up counter. We were a party of three, each ordering the double Smoke Shack - essentially a bacon cheeseburger with two beef patties. I also ordered the Union Shack concrete (ice cream) and there were a couple of portions of crinkle cut chips on the table.

Burgers I’m used to are an assembly of quite separate components. Two halves of a well structured bun with a pattie betwixt and toppings involved somewhere in the gathering. It is easy to separate each piece out to decorate your plate and systematically work your way round the constituent parts if that's your thing (I have actually witnessed this method of eating a burger).

But at Shake Shack, you are presented with a single soft mass of yielding savoury and juicy wonder. The patties, cheese and bun unite into palate coating mushy magnificence rendering them impossible to dissect.

In one mouthful you can enjoy an amalgamation of meaty grease from the smashed patty, slight sweetness from the toasted bun, a whisp of heat from chopped cherry pepper, oozing American-style cheese, saltiness from the crisp bacon and tang from the signature Shake Shack sauce (like a piquant mayonnaise); together they send the pleasure receptors into a manic frenzy.

Shake Shack are not quiet about all their ingredients (bar the buns which are flown in from America) being carefully sourced from UK farms and suppliers. The beef is 100% raised Aberdeen Angus, grass fed on Scottish pastures and they refrain from ever using hormones or antibiotics on their cows.

The meat is ground daily and burgers are cooked to order rather than left drying out under a heat lamp. Each patty consists of 1/4lb of this beef smashed onto the grill for an intensely flavoured and slightly caramalised crust. Yes please.

Bacon is free-range Wiltshire cure smoked. The imported buns are typical of an American burger (as opposed to brioche or posh bread options often found in the UK) and similar to Martin’s potato rolls with the inclusion of potato flour - an excellent choice for absorbing dripping goodness.

In a moment of madness and excited anticipation, we all completely forgot to request any toppings and in fact failed to even notice them on the menu. The one thing I felt was missing from the burger was only absent due to my lack of attention - pickles. A good enough reason to return for me.

Chips were sturdy and crisp on the outside with fluffy middles and essentially pretty good (I’m not the world’s biggest fries fan). The Union Shack concrete that rounded off my meal consisted of frozen chocolate custard, bites of chocolate and hazelnut brownies, fudge sauce, shrapnel of bitter dark chocolate and a touch of sea salt - a thick, dense and very chocolatey ice cream with lots to bite down on and served in a cardboard drink cup.

My verdict here is that despite the irritating initial fanfare, I really enjoyed this meal. Compared to other burgers I’ve eaten in this country, Shake Shack offers something quite unique - it’s just not like any other I’ve had. In all fairness, I haven’t eaten at enough of the competitors to form an entirely informed opinion based on adequate comparisons, but who the hell cares.

Shake Shack burgers are so good I could easily eat one for breakfast. No doubt that says more about me than the burger.

Liked lots: burger, chopped cherry pepper, nice staff, location, covered al fresco dining, concretes, a short and quick queue
Liked less: slightly confusing entrances and exits to the queue and ordering
Good for: a quick bite, al fresco dining, significantly exceeding your daily intake of saturated fat, jumping on the bandwagon

My rating: 5/5

The battle of the burger is becoming super competitive in London… With the arrival of Shake Shack from the US, I just have to give it a try…

The reason why I try it so late is because I want it to settle down properly, to really see the full potential of Shake Shack and You know what, its pretty good

I heard of Shake Shack first from my good friend uploading a photo of it in NYC and it made me hungry… Thanks to Daniel Young from young&foodish i was able to realise that it was coming over…

So then let see what I think is a pretty decent burger

First the ShackStack, cheese, single patty, lettuce, tomato, Shack sauce and crisp fried cheese stuffed portobello mushroom…

The mushroom was the bomb! Explosion of cheese and earthy sweet flavours of mushroom and the coating was crispy that it gave a nice crunch!

For me a good burger joint is judged by how well they make their cheeseburger and here its pretty good.. The bun was sweet and chewy and doughy may feel abit junk but it was pleasurable, the patty may not be so fancy but it still delivers.. May not be as artisinal as Patty & Bun or Honest or Street Kitchen but it still pretty good!

Shake Shack for me is pretty good, £5 for the single ShackBurger and £7.75 for the ShackStack.. It may not boast the highest quality of ingredients but sure it was damn comforting!

Shake Shack made the headlines in July with its grand opening and supposed competition with Five Guys. Unfortunately it didn't exceed expectations and was a thoroughly average dining experience.

My girlfriend and I both ordered their basic cheeseburger with its standard contents to give it it's best chance at wowing us with the 'Shake Shack Sauce'. It failed, as yummy as the burger was, it didn't reach it's high value price tag in terms of taste.

As Five Guys main competitor, I think I'm firmly on team Five Guys, they provide a huge quantity of fries for a similar price as Shake Shack's small fries option and offer unlimited refills at the same price as Shake Shack's small cups of Coca Cola.

Worth a visit, but with regret I must admit I shan't be running back for seconds. Five Guys on the other hand....

Originating from a mere hot dog cart in Manhattan, New York back in 2004, ShackShake has taken the US by storm and is now slowly trying to take over the world; one city at a time.

How did ShakeShack fare in London?

For £5.00 I went for the ShackBurger (basically a cheeseburger), plus crinkle cut fries at £2.50 and a caramel frozen custard shake for £4.50.

Armed with my Shake and my Shack Burger I was ready for my experimental testing.

Sex Appeal?

The Shack Burger is essentially a cheeseburger and was pretty damn alluring since she was presented to me half naked peeping out of her paper wrap.

Look at her.

Posing like that.

....Skank.

Burger Strength?

The burger was smaller than I had anticipated.

The bun was lightly toasted, a necessity to ensure that it keeps its integrity and helps to avoid disintegrating after the first bite.

The patty was cooked well done unfortunately, and another niggling factor was that the cheese wasn't cooked WITH the beef but was just topped on the burger afterwards; which meant one thing. It wasn't oozing all over my fingers. :(

YEAH-O-METER?

The beef lacked in any true flavour, and was on the side of being alittle too well-done for me.

Personally, I like to have burger juice dripping off my chin (uber sexy), with the right ratio of salad/pickles and sauces giving it that crunch without being too soggy.

I was alittle disappointed that ShakeShack failed to deliver that to me.

However, you could argue that she was a more refined lady of burger I suppose.

Shake Shack - 5.5/10 Yummei's - visually appealing, but unfortunately I wasn't blown away.

The opening of Shake Shack has been much anticipated with the well traveled amount the twitterati at fever pitch drooling at the prospect of not only their burgers but their infamous shakes and concretes, a dense frozen custard mixed at high speed with fine add ins from St.John's and Paul.a.Young's chocolates. Nearly every one I've met who has been to their NYC branch goes into long lengths describing how good it is. It's no mean feat they've managed to mix great fast food with a classy joint that will no doubt will a destination for many.
Shake Shack have gone to great lengths to source all their ingredients properly, with their beef chosen from the highlands, Aberdeen Angus, bacon from Wiltshire, and their collaboration with the highly regarded St.John's and Paul.a.young is assurance of very high standards. For the me the SmokeShack (£6.50) is definitely my burger of choice, fantastic hit of flavours from the cherry peppers and the sauce, encompassed within a soft potato bun
Without doubt the concretes are well worth any length of time queuing. As desserts go I'd have this breakfast! This is more than just a shake and definitely not straw-able. There is never any time to get bored of them due to their 'Custard calender' with a flavour for each month.
Shake Shack will do well as it caters for everyone, even dogs (not joking, they have dog treats on the menu). With a great selections of wines and beers, including Meantime brewing company. It's perfectly situated for the pre/post theatre dinner crowd. Whats more the staff have brought with them that first class american hospitality, hopefully the UK staff will be well versed in this, rather than the miserable spotty teenagers that grunt at you from other popular fast food joints.
It appeals to suits, tourists and burger fanatics alike, no doubt it'll be rammed for now and the distant future.

First time shake-shack try-er! Had the Crispy Shallot Burger (Vegan) and it was so so good! REALLY YUMMY. Solid 10/10. I am not vegan and bought this burger feeling intrigued by the interesting contents of the burger. I paired it with cheesy fries- which were pretty good too - crispy, crinkle cut, cheesy fries. YES. Would order again. For all the vegans out there- HIGHLY RECOMMEND! 💃🏾 My friend ordered the beef hot dog! She said it was really good! There is LOADS of space to sit and eat! And we were served fairly quickly. They do pretty good crowd control so you order in one place and walk over to the collection point with your buzzers.

So each time I head down to London, I always make a point of stopping of at the infamous shake shack for the amazing vegetarian menu! The shroom burger is the only thing I’ve had, it’s because it’s so nice I’ve never had the need to try anything else. The atmosphere and service is ok just really busy, giving the fact that it’s located in the heart of Covent Garden’s (the branch I normally go to, there are a few more dotted around London) its always hard to find a seat.

Quick service, food was genuinely 11/10. One of the best burgers I've had in my life, juicy and sweet but not damp just fantastic. Doubling down is a must for the burger. The chicken bites were fantastic, not too breaded and want more even as I type this. Can't go wrong eating here, good outdoor area and indoor area too. Everything in my photo came to £20.10, 10 chicken pieces and a double down smokeshack burger.

Shake Shack for me is always a safe option if I'm looking for something simple and good. In London it didn't fail me either. The food was really good. The logistic is a little more complicated than it should be in my opinion. You order in one place and then you have to go to the space across the hall to get your food. There is always a lot of people so if there is more than one of you get someone to save a seat while the other waits for the food. In general terms, food great for logistics could do a better job

Burger tastes really fresh. Onions are nicely caramelised along with it. Chips are actually built different. Crinkle style cut gives more surface area and is actually crispy. I don't understand why they put the extra fillings in a separate container, waste of plastic really. You may sit in the seatings nearby but do be warned of pigeons.
