Amazing- best pub in London!
I was looking for a pub near primrose hill to go to after our weekly softball game. We needed a place which had the kitchen open till 10. The food is good and the drinks were amazing. There is plenty of space. And we got 20% off for softball!
As everything is in primrose hill all is calm and well at this venue. A lovely pub with homely decor - a fair selection of beers however the food here is the main reason to keep coming back. The meats in particular are cooked very well and packed with flavour, great for a Sunday roast.
The Princess of Wales is a delightful gastro pub. I find that pubs guarantee a square, filling meal, which one cannot guarantee with a restaurant. On this level the PoW did not disappoint.
Sitting in their charmingly decorated beer garden, replete with mirrors, I enjoyed an enormous burger, with good quality steak, a large mushroom, and bacon. I'd be worried about my cholesterol , if I actually knew what it was! I like stilton so I didn't find it too hefty, though some might find it overpowers the beef a little.
Does serving a sandwich so large that must be dismantled before eating it, negate the effect of trying to mix those flavours in the first place, I wonder?
Was also served with onion rings. Here the batter was flat and lacking crunch, and the onion pieces themselves a little small to make an impact. Perhaps make the segments larger and add bicarbonate of soda to the mix?
We shared a quality mix of ice-cream and sorbet for dessert.
I went here for an event organised by Zomato. The staff were really nice, polite and professional. Not that I would know but people were saying the house red wine is really good. We were served mini burgers with horseradish, chips, salad, fish fingers and two types of pizzas so I would only comment on what I actually tried.
The chips was good but nothing special. The burger was nice but the horseradish wasn't that nice, I rather have the burger on its own. The pizzas were made of very fresh ingredients and were very delicious. The fish fingers were great, not too oily and a nice coating.
I have to say the location of this pub is brilliant, not too far from the station but you feel your in the middle of a small village. The interior of the pub also is quite nice and modern.
Overall I would recommend giving it a go.
Visited the place in April 2013 as part of groupon offer (4 cocktails for £10).
Although limited menu but good for a pub for a nice time out with friends.
Quality food and nice crowd.
Tucked in a very nice area.
If visiting for lunch, dont forget to njoy a nice walk in hamstead heath.
Great little pub in primrose hill. Food is good, pub classics but served at a gastro level. Can't really go wrong with one of the burgers.
Unfortunately the day we went was the final day of a group on voucher so the queues were a bit crazy as too was the race for seating but on another evening i am sure it will be fine.
There is ample space outside for when (if) the sun comes out as well as aditional space up and downstairs. The main bar area isn't that big so getting a seat in order to have food can be a pain.
Best sunday roast in town , with live jazz sunday afternoons great place to bring the family friendly service and great food, will be back soon
This is a lovely, traditional pub with a bit of history.
It is split on 2 levels with the main area dominated by an island bar. There is also a few tables outside and a quirky beer garden with colourful umbrellas providing limited shelter. There is also a picture of a young girl and a lion that is rumoured to be a Banksy!
We visited on a lovely, sunny Sunday and were keen to get an outside table or one in the beer garden. Although the pub was busy we were given a table in the beer garden after a short wait 😀
There is good selection of beers, spirits and cocktails.
The food was excellent - my Seafood Linguine was absolutely brilliant with lots of mussels and tasty, succulent prawns.
I can honestly say that it was better than any similar dish that I've had in any restaurant! Definitely a gastropub 😀
Service was lovely, efficient and above all friendly. Recommended.
It is a short walk from Chalk Farm Tube station and close to the colourful houses in Primrose.
I visited this place a few times before but never in the lover area where the garden is. I could not fault the friendliness of the staff and their willingness to help and serve promptly. I could see the level of training and professionalism. We only had drinks not food but there is a.good menu too. Lovely place, hidden Gem in the heart of Camden
Had a delicious brekkie this morning at Princess of Wales out in the sunshine, was so good. But really have to commend the service. Really got taken care of by Ada (I think that’s her name). Really makes a difference getting such good service.
Great service, friendly and welcoming staff. Beautiful decor and clean environment. Food was delicious! Decent menu with good range of choices, not too large and not too small. Sunday Roast was overall great! Wished the porkskin was a bit crisper.
We couldn’t have asked for a better venue to host our engagement drinks in. The staff at the pub are brilliant, kind and helpful and the venue itself was the perfect space for a private event. The Princess of Wales has a great reputation and we could see why! Fantastic service, great food and lovely area, inside and out. Thank you so much
We didn't have any food, but ordered some nuts, egging was served warm.
The place is tastefully decorated. The lighting is spot on, not bright, but dim. The furniture's immaculate.
Delish Sunday Roast.
We had Roast Chicken & Roast Beef with Yorkshire puddings, roast potatoes & gravy.Perfect !
Two staff on this Sunday both excellent in their rapport with the public.
The young guy went out of his way to make me a thirst quenching lemon drink, thankyou.

❤️ A welcoming Victorian Gastro.
.
Located on a quiet crossroads in Primrose Hill, you’ll find The Princess of Wales. Chalk Farm Tube is a pleasurable five minute walk away.
.
This pub was built mid 19th Century and gain’s its name from the wife of Edward VII not Lady Di as I had first thought. This pub used to have three entrances and four bars in its boozer heyday. As the wet trade declined this pub was in prime Gastro territory and was refurbished back 2012, the results of which are very easy on the eye.
.
The ground floor main bar has an elegant island servery at its core. This traditional Victorian pub has high ceilings and windows which makes this pub feel spacious even though it is quite cosy. There is a dining/ function room upstairs and downstairs there is a walled beer garden. Back in 2011, mysteriously overnight a Lion and a girl holding a ballon appeared on the wall in the garden, was it Banksy? Who knows, but it does look cool.
.
The beer choice is full of mainstream favourites with a bit of craft and one cask option thrown in for good measure. My beer choice was Moretti, it was a good pint and average price. The food is elevated British pub grub, wood fired pizzas and some international morsels, Fish & Chips costs £15.50. This pub is part of the @city_stack collection of London pubs, so if you want a £10 discount here of a minimum £20 spend, head over to their insta or check link in my bio.
.
The atmosphere on this Saturday afternoon was relaxed and convivial. The pub was busy and had a 50/50 split of diners and drinkers which was nice to see. The service was great, the barman was attentive and nice natured.
.
The @princessofwalespub was an enjoyable visit, even though its a gastro it’s a good place to come for a drink as well as food, well worth a visit people.

Booked a table out the front so we could be in the sun. Lovely spot. Also saw a man with a parrot, extra points.
Went in for a takeaway roast and was honestly amazing. One of the nicest roasts we’ve had in a while. Staff were lovely and super accommodating.
