This place is a dream of a local restaurant: Nunhead is privileged to have Babette helming this ship. Buzzy, relaxed atmosphere, interesting diverse clientele, sophisticated, utterly delicious and inventive menu....and bold and elegant surroundings. Anyone would be lucky to dine here. Bravo Babette!

Lovely meal at Babettes tonight. Great atmosphere, buzzy and cozy. Nice to be able to hear each other speak too, nothing worse than eating a meal with loud music. I would recommend it! Nice to see a couple of dogs in their too!

So lucky to have this amazing place 2 mins walk from my home. The veggie platter is so yummy. All 8 eats on the board were very well thought out - great flavours. And delicious organic red wine. Great simple decor and lovely service.

Fantastic addition to the local area. It's just what Nunhead has been crying out for. Fresh produce, cooked simply, with great flavour and respect for the ingredients being used. Looking forward to seeing how the food, wine and cocktail menu evolve over time.

Scrumptious brunch options - my favourite is the baked eggs but we tried the savoury pancakes last weekend and they were perfect if you are in the mood for something decadent. Great atmosphere, tasty coffee - the dinner service is also top notch so nice to have a new favourite local spot for any weekend cravings. Will be back often!

Such a lovely place! The owner Babette and her lovely staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food! It's so tasty and the sharing boards and other starters/mains are all reasonably priced as well. You can enjoy all the quirky bits and pieces in the place - from the cutlery, plates, tea strainers to the vintage collection displayed in the shelving. All of my friends I took to this place ended up being huge fans of the place.

Went for Brunch here a few weeks ago. What seems a simple menu however is executed in a really excellent manner. Definitely one of the best brunch places locally if not in South East London. The baked eggs are really good. The portion sizes are very generous for the price. Lovely staff and great atmosphere. I really like the interior design. It feels very comfortable and could easily while away a few hours here.

Went for a Sunday roast with 3 friends. Pros: lovely atmosphere; good drinks selection with some local brews thrown in too; delicious roast (I had the mixed plate); huge portion. They are also dog friendly. Cons: food took about 45 minutes to arrive; one of our party opted for the small chicken roast and it was TINY. The vegetables, Yorkshire puddings etc were a great portion but the meat serving was only half a chicken breast! Not good value. Wouldn't recommend getting the smaller plates - perhaps they are meant to be for kids. Would still come back and hope for quicker service!

We had an absolutely delicious meal for an average price! I recommend the fish sharing platter, the baked aubergine and the rabbit! The atmosphere was cosy and the staff was super friendly. Thank you to the chef Maya for her stunning creations!

Best roast this side of the river, without a doubt. Meat is the best quality, never dry or over done. Unlike most roasts, the vegetables are never over cooked, but full of flavour. The sharing platters are great too. During the day it's a very friendly place to grab coffee and lunch with babies/children.

Incredible small plates, very decent roast, good value cocktails, and a nice chilled ambiance. Printed menus would really help though to minimise crowding around the boards (not so nice if you're sitting at one of the tables in that area or are short-sighted!). Ordering at the bar keeps it informal and reduces staffing but can be a bit annoying if you're ordering/paying separately in a group as the order won't all go in together. Generally one of the best local establishments though.

I've been to Babette a few times now for lunch and dinner, and always come away happy. The atmosphere is light and warm, the staff really friendly and helpful, and the food and drink just lovely. Definitely one of my favourite places in South London.

Great place! Lively atmosphere, friendly staff and delicious food. There's plenty of interesting stuff on the menu with a couple of croud-pleasers for good measure. (My wife and I shared the vegetarian plate - which included an amazing vegetarian "beef wellington" - followed by one of the nicest steak + chips I've ever had.)

Babette is easily one of the best places to meet your friends, eat well and relax. Babette herself had become a central part of the community. She spreads love and positivity, employs wonderful, friendly staff and the food is excellent. There really is no where else like it, so if you're nearby stop in for a coffee and stay for the conversation.

Fantastic Sunday roast and overall experience last weekend. The staff really create a relaxed and welcome atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. I’m looking forward to returning to try the rest of the menu. 5 stars all the way.

A little gem of a place! Great food and a lovely vibe and decor. The prices are quite reasonable too! Oddly you are told to order at the bar even though it's a very small pub and there are more than enough staff for table service. That is the only fault I can find with Babette though - a thoroughly quality, hip spot to have dinner at.

First meal at this quirky restaurant recommended by family- we were certainly not disappointed! Fantastic food, friendly attentive staff and lovely atmosphere. My only negative comment would be that the menu is on a chalk board- a second board would prove invaluable as diners currently have to leave their tables to go and view the single menu board! It is not possible to view the food and drink options from all tables!

Nice atmosphere for a night out. I had the fish which was ok. My wife went for the steak which was a better choice. Will go back at some point The try the Sunday roast. Went back and had the Sunday roast and it was very good!

Great food. Beautiful complex flavours. I have had two meals here and I would recommend it. The sharing boards are a delight and they change regularly so you can try different things depending on the season.

Very tasty food and reasonable prices, gets very busy so make sure to get there early! We went there for Saturday brunch and whilst my full English was enjoyable, my partner ordered the croque madame and that was excellent so I would recommend venturing out of your comfort zone as the quirkier dishes are definitely worth the risk! Would go again :)

Can’t go wrong here. The food is amazing. It’s a hidden gem. Prices are really reasonable for the quality of the food. The menu changes all the time, there isn’t loads of choice but whatever you choose is guaranteed to be really tasty. I love the sharing platters..... meat, fish or veggie. Lovely
