A great local british pub! In every sense of the word.
Great big beer garden and even in the winter months can be full!
Great selection of beers and wines. Food is big and tasty. Good value too. Not really a tourist spot, which many will like. If in the area, go for a beer, you won't be disappointed.
Classic pub food well executed. I love chips and their chips is on the top of my chips list. triple cooked so crunchy maybe not for dietters but it's worth it ; ) I had roasted pork belly, nice portion not too big nor small. skin was crunchy and meat not too greasy just perfect. had steak there before which was nice but could've been little bigger. overall a nice gastro pub if you have a guest visiting from abroad it's a nice place to take them to show British pub food .
Fantastic British Food. This place is fantastic, if I could give it 6 stars, I would. I had the 30 Day Aged Rib of Longhorn Beef (shared) it came with greens and carrots and was cooked perfectly. I think that British food gets a bad name, but this place breaks all the rumors of bad English food. I will be back hopefully! They also have a really nice outdoor seating area in the back where we sat for our brunch.
Another great Sunday Roast. This really is the best in London.

I had a great lunch- pork chop (organic) with a baked pear, fantastic gravy...I would go there anytime.
Situated on a quiet leafy close in Barnsbury, The Albion is a fantastic pub - a perfect spot for a drink (at one of the picnic tables out front, or in the expansive beer garden round the back), and an even better location for a super-tasty Sunday roast. I first discovered The Albion when looking for somewhere canine-friendly to eat with my parents, and their (cute-but-naughty) dog...And in addition to the impressively laid-back attitude of the staff (which they maintained even when the dog decided to sit on one of the stylishly upholstered sofas*), we were blown away by the fantastic food. I've had the pleasure of trying two of the roast options here: the whole roast chicken (supposedly to share between two, but my boyfriend gobbled it so quickly I barely got a look in!) and, my favourite, the rib of beef (also for two). Alongside the platters of meat, the table was heaped with a generous helping of all the trimmings - fluffy yorkshires, a fantastically dark, deeply savoury gravy, roas
And the award for laziest blogger goes to….myself. I have posts ready to publish, however due to pure tiredness after work, all I can manage is dinner, a spot of TV, a quick check of emails, then bed. Repeat x 5 till the weekend when I can finally catch up on everything. It’s a little embarrassing it has taken me so long to write a post on The Albion, as I live so ridiculously close. We’re talking a 30-second walk. We don’t actually eat here too often to be honest, as on a Sunday afternoon, there’s nothing I like better than loading up a whole chicken with some butter and herbs and filling the house with that irresistible, unmistakable smell, but on those rare Sundays when Sainsbury’s closes before I’ve made it there, The Albion is a good alternative. A quick call to The Albion with only a few minutes notice, secured us a table, and meant we didn’t have to wait. Grace ordered the beef, which came with bone marrow. I was quite jealous over
A Georgian house, it's spacious and feels as if you're exploring a large abode as you walk through its chambers. There is a large enough outside area which in summer must be a treat to sit in
So what’s Islington’s iteration of the most overused pub name after the Dog & Duck like? Let’s ask their website. “It’s a Georgian gem left over from a time when Islington was fields and farmland and where the regulars would take afternoon walks out of th
Having lived within a 5 minute walk of the Albion for over 6 months, we ate and drank there on more than a few occasions, but somehow the Sunday lunch there never came to pass. Either because we forgot to book, or we just turned up on the off chance that
The Albion's Garden On Saturday morning we headed for breakfast at The Albion in Islington. Little did we know that it was going to be a gloriously sunny day, so The Albion was a lucky pick as it has a stunnin
The Albion with a couple of outdoor seats out at the front looked pleasant. Like The Canonbury, it has a sizable outdoor seating area accessible through the pub itself. That’s where the similarities end. Even though the staff were moving quickly in and ou
I lived in Angel for a year (almost a year ago) and it was only a few months before I moved out of my flat that I discovered The Albion.
Far from the often packed hub of Angel, this gastropub is hidden in a secret heaven a few blocks away in Islington. I go there essentially for their fabulous spacious outdoor terrace, particularly recommended for sipping a drink in sunny times.

Gorgeous pub hidden away in Islington that provides a good escape from hectic city living. The courtyard is a beautiful place to wile away summer days and nights. The food is delicious gourmet pub food.
Every time I go I see the offer for a whole roast sucking pig for ten people and make a note in my diary to organise it.
My new favorite pub in London.
We came for a quick drink, but ended up staying for Sunday Roast. The Yorkshire pudding was delicious - it was crisp on the outside but soft on the inside. The roasted veggies were actually roasted and not soggy from the meat! The star of the lunch was actually the Scotch egg. Perfectly jammy and runny on the inside, but crunchy on the outside. They also had a kind of mustard sauce that we kept eating along with our potatoes later in the meal.
Amazing pub with a quality Sunday roast. Their outdoor seating areas are almost unparalleled as they have a nice patio in the front and a massive space in the back. Highly recommend for their food, atmosphere and beer selection
I booked a table on Sunday, a very hot day, and the staff were very accomodating in ensuring my table had a umbrella and I was in the shade. The service was great and the food arrived quickly. The garden is excellent and feels like a secret hidden spot away from the hustle and bustle of London! The food was lovely. Will definitely be visiting again.
Amazing place - very very beautiful outside, chill during lunch time not to crowded during week day. We have good food and the service was very kind ! Big up to the team working here. See you again very soon.
This is one of my favourite pubs in Islington. Not very impressed with the music but the spacious garden and the room with candles and classical decorations inside are lovely. I had Black pudding Scotch eggs, marinated prawns with garlic sauce, sticky toffee pudding and apple juice. I went there on a bank holiday, but I didn't have to wait for long. The waitress was okay but the female young manager seemed a bit grumpy, and unaccommodating. Maybe she had a bad day.
Had a roast here on Sunday, it was bloody lovely! such a nice quiet spot in Islington. Never been before but definitely will be going back. We had an absolutely fabulous waitress called Joanne who was amazing and made our experience just that much nicer!
One of the BEST pubs in London, the atmosphere is great with an outside bit at the front and the back. The pub also has a huge indoor seating area for drinks and dinner. Food was really great and I’ll definitely be coming back for Sunday roast. Reasonable price and friendly staff. Price suggestion is made with alcohol included. There is also gluten free bread and options!
Always enjoy an evening here the wine is great and the food is excellent! Triple cooked chips and batter on the fish that crunches as you slice through….what more can you ask for
Wonderful pub/restaurant as long as the summer lasts and you can sit at the big back lovely garden to enjoy a cold beer and some food.
Try when it is not busy otherwise the noise is horrible.
Food was 5⭐️ but overall 4
Service and setup were grand. Could be improved but I’ll be back for the grub alone
- Whitebait 🎣- unreal portion size for the price. Such a good beer snack
- scotch egg 🥚 - best I’ve had. Lovely spice
- Ham hock terrine 🫔- seems an odd order but beautiful
- Chips 🍟 - giddy up
- Burrata 🪤- unreal. The tomatoes with it 👌🏼
Scotch egg was great and roast was good. Def worth a visit, Unfortunately couldn't sit In the garden due to weather
A delicious Sunday lunch in an historic pub full of atmosphere. The beef was tender and full of flavour - washed down with some very palatable red wine. The service was most efficient and charming.
A nice afternoon with friends in the beer garden. Food was great. Staff friendly and efficient. Sun was shining. What more could you want.
We booked a table for 12 people for a 70th birthday yesterday and we were so pleased we found the Albion. It was a great night for us all, the food was great and the service was superb- friendly, helpful and made us all very welcome. Your staff are top rate and their obvious sense of pride in their jobs was uplifting!
We all left waxing enthusiastically about the evening and are looking forward to our next visit
Came here for our first Sunday roast since moving to London and it really hit the spot! Joanne was absolutely lovely and provided excellent service. Will definitely be back!
The Albion has improved its service and food and is now a perfect experience! Their venue and atmosphere is so beautiful and the menu is just incredible. We love the back garden but also the cozy vibe inside during the autumn and winter. Such a special pub!
The gravy sauce for sunday roast is good but I had lamb roast and the taste was strong lamb meat.
Good garden but good and drinks are very expensive.
A delightful fusion of gourmet dining in a cozy pub setting. The diverse menu, featuring local flavors, was a true culinary delight. Friendly staff and a charming atmosphere made our visit memorable. Highly recommended!
Used to love The Albion then it seemed to go through various staff or management changes and the prices skyrocketed. I would frequent this pub because of the great staff, comfortable atmosphere and sit on the back patio and play board games in the summer. After a few more returns it's seems that they are slowly getting back to where they were before. Lots of updates inside have been done with new paint, refinished floors and a very nice canopy in the back so you can sit outside when raining. Still enjoy the albion hope it continues to get back to where it was 2 to 3 years ago.
