4 of us had a chicken Sunday roast and 1 had a steak sandwich, must say the meal was delicious and huge, we struggled. Staff were lovely, very helpful...got us more gravy and another jug of water, all with a smile. The steak sandwich was also very tasty apparently...would visit again. Decor lovely, along with hot water bottles, sweaters and throws.

Went for brunch to meet and catch up with a friend. The concept is nice. Siting inside feels good with all the flowers, colors and nature-like feeling. I tried the Chicken and waffle which I really liked. The combination of sweet, salty and spicy was interesting. My friend tried the smoked salmon and eggs and she thought it was very decent. Staff was friendly and welcoming. Definitely going back for more. Prices are reasonable for location, quality and portions.

As with all of these Drake & Morgan bars, I am always impressed. No matter which location you are at, you can guarantee a good crowd, drinks and food. The Folly is near the thames and on a busy junction, but you would not know it to sit inside. I settled down with a crisp dry glass of chardonnay and watched the world go by. Massive space with drinking area and eating. There is also a downstairs which I have no doubt they fill to the brim on the latter part of the week. Another fave to add to my D&M tour. Thank you x

I’m a fan of the Drake & Morgan Group, with their chicly themed bars and restaurants always providing a decent setting for group nights out (particularly post-work with colleagues). The Folly is their outpost in Bank and is inspired by all things botanical. it's a big space, and it's pretty. But it gets overly loud sometimes. Avoid if you wanna go somewhere on a date from Thurs-Sat evening.

As of writing, they also have a pop-up inspired by Provence, a beautiful pergola has been set up at their semi-private area and runs til end of August.

Having recently returned from a short trip to Provence, I was intrigued by an invitation to ‘La Petite Provence’.  No less because this pop-up involved a sensory wine tasting experience. I know perfectly well that our perception is very much influenced by the appearance of what we eat and drink.  Would I be able to tell a red wine from a white – or from a rose?  I went along to the Folly to find out more.

I really like the decor of the Folly and that is why I picked it for a celebration dinner during the week. The service and the food were good and very reasonably priced!
Having said that I later came back for a dinner on a Friday and it was an awful experience because the bar part of the restaurant was so crowded and they sat our table of 10 right next to it. The food was still ok but the service and the atmosphere for our dinner didn't make for a very pleasant experience.
Will come back for food only at less busy times and probably drinks on a friday (there's a downstairs area with great music!).

The Folly is just around the corner from my office and it's a great option for lunch of after work dinner. It's a very large space over two floors, but don't let that fool you, you need to book most days for lunch and definitely if you want an after work drink or dinner. It gets extremely busy in the evenings so I tend to avoid it then but I do like it for a long lunch.

There is quite a vast menu, so there's something for everyone really. On the whole the food is very good. The risottos are always good and they used to do an amazing chicken and quinoa super food salad. I like the fact there are options if you're being good or feeling a bit naughty. Also, the cocktails are rather good too. There is a great selection and they're made very well. If you are in the area it's worth checking out.

No matter what they say about breakfast, it always remains perennially underrated by me - I just don't do it. The reasons why are always old and tired; I'm not hungry in the morning, I don't have time and so on and so on; but the thing is, when I DO have it, I am always better off for it with more productive mornings that power through to a late lunch. In the search for a hearty breakfast in the City, the choice can be hard in part because you're spoiled. So to make your life easier, I want to through my name behind a favourite of mine - The Folly.

One in a chain of bars and restaurants from the Drake and Morgan group, the food at The Folly is solid if not spectacular and has always left me satisfied that I've had a decent meal at a reasonable clip. Take for example my favourite breakfast dish of a simple smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toast. Their is nothing extraordinary about it but as an overall product, it is solid; eggs fluffy and not overly scrambled, a generous amount of smoked salmon all on top of thick slices of buttery toast. Boy can't really ask for much more except for the bill which at around £8, isn't all out crazy in the City.

For those more adventurous, there is a sizeable menu to choose from including a Full English and even an egg white omelette. All lovely choices also.

One of my chosen pubs in the city - right near Monument station on the corner next to House of Fraser. Is pretty busy most nights of the week but the venue is large (upstairs and downstairs and has a separate dining part). I would stick to drinks here and maybe the odd sharing platter as the food is pretty average and pricier than normal pubs. Décor is good and room downstairs to have a little boogie. Does unfortunately close at 12 though.

Awesome place for after work drinks ... Went on a Wednesday night and the staff was super friendly and service is good. Downstairs bar got pretty full but food arrived quickly and was reasonably tasty, super close to monument station, will certainly be returning

It's really a modern and unique place. The food is good along with the amazing decor, but service is slow. The music there is nice also, and it's not too loud. Overall you'll love the cool vibe.

Calorie Counted Cockails!!!. The calorie counted cocktails helped ease the guilt from an afternoon of prawn lollipops (no, really) and sharing boards.... Oh, did I mention the knickerbocker glory? (maybe too many cocktails then!)

It is a great change to see such a green bar and restaurant in the city. No wonder they call it ‘The City’s Secret Garden’. The moment I spotted The Folly, I knew it will be one of my favourite restaurant / cafe / bar, even before I tried the food or drinks. Yes, I was judging the book by its cover. Don’t most people do that anyway!?

The Borough Market being nearby, the ingredients are prime quality (Neal’s Yard cheese, Brindisa chorizo…) and organic products are used whenever possible.

A nice little spot for drinks and meals in the corporate-heavy Bank & Monument area. Even on a Sunday, the place was reasonably full and buzzing with varied groups of people coming out to lunch. If I had one complaint, it would be that sometimes the achingly hip hipster trend is all well and good when it is actually being trendy, not quite so hip when it’s worked to a formula.

Fish and chips arrive on a board – great looking, but rather hard to eat on top of a board that wobbles. For some reason, it’s liberally sprinkled with sea salt and to avoid consuming my sodium intake for a week in one meal , I have to scrape most of it off.

It’s delicious though, as is Husband’s Farmhouse chicken roast and so on the food quality front at least, we have no complaints!

We Love Food, It's All We Eat

I had been dying to visit The Folly ever since I saw a tweet about it a couple of weeks ago, on the day we went, there was a feature about it in Stylist magazine, so I knew it must be good. On their website, it says ‘Step in to the city’s secret garden’, which pretty much sums it up, although I did wonder if it should be ‘Step into the city’s secret garden’… Anyway, we were amazed at how busy it was when we first walked in, it had only been open for ten days, but already the word has spread. We are looking for a venue for our wedding reception, so we had a tour of the place with the lovely manager Paul.

The place is huge, covers two floors and certainly has the wow factor. It is an all-day venue, with the deli bar, otherwise known as the ‘potting shed’ open for breakfasts and fab coffee, this is also where the mixology sessions happen at night, we sat around the table in awe of the mixologist creating our cocktails. He just asked what kind of thing we liked, and then created a personal cocktail. Ade loved his Tiramisu cocktail, whilst my raspberry creation was finished off with a petal on top, so when you drank through the straw, you inhaled the aroma. Loved that. There is even a small florist area in the corner, and you can buy produce from Borough Market, including Spanish specialities from Brindisa. We met a lovely guy called Pleurat Shabani, who was showcasing his new vodka, Konik’s Tale, he told us all about how it was made, amazing story, the guy was full of passion for what he did, it was brilliant. The mixologist worked with his gorgeous vodka to create our cocktails.

There are different sections to sit, from hanging chairs, to dark and cosy alcoves downstairs. There is a huge tree that goes from the basement through the floor above to the main bar. The private dining room, not yet finished, will be a fab place for a small private party or special meal.

We reluctantly dragged ourselves away from Pleurat and the potting shed into the restaurant to dig into a couple of sharing boards, we had the Antipasto board verdi; Chargrilled aubergines, courgettes, artichokes, sun ripened tomatoes, Puglia marinated olives, mozzarella, extra virgin olive oil & balsamic vinegar with traditional handmade breads. And also the Antipasto board; A selection of cured meats, sun-ripened tomatoes, balsamic baby onions & marinated Puglia olives with a selection of traditional handmade breads.

We loved the fact the tomatoes and olives were from Puglia, as that’s where we are getting married. Our food was lovely, and styled in a very cool way, chips come in flower pots, some dishes in takeaway-style boxes, mini frying pans, it all looked great. And head chef is Kevin Casizzi, who came third in this year's Masterchef The Professionals. The crockery is all mix-matched, but it looked fab. Loved the skinny Cocktail list, all under 100 calories, genius.

A revolving pop up shop provides guests with something current, seasonal and fun to explore time and time again. They’re open from breakfast until midnight, seven days a week.

We had our office Easter drinks here and I have to admit the restaurant looks amazing inside. There are a lot of seating area downstairs and our table was sort of located up against a wall. I can't remember how we got up there but we did somehow. We ordered a platter of food like sandwiches, chips, bread etc. They all tasted amazing and I had the opportunity to try out their range of Sambuca shots.

I would like to come back here to try out their lunch time meals, however they always seem to be fully packed. Nevertheless, still had a good experience so giving it a rating of 4.

I feel sorry for the Folly bar, and all the Drake and Morgan bars actually, because even if the food was the crème de la crème of British cuisine (don't get me wrong - it isn't)  I don't think anyone has ever considered actually ordering any food unless they are completely already rat-arsed beyond belief that they have to consume something solid, else end up going home with some run of the mill big time banker, insisting that "eating is cheating."

This was one of those occasions - as you can see I ordered a halloumi burger, without the bun, with a fat wedge of avocado instead. The waiter happily obliged and if it has tasted any better I don't think I would have had the sensory capacity to appreciate this anyway. It was all downhill from there though, when it was my round to buy a bottle of wine, and I experimented with the "peach infused" wine of the day which was probably the most revolting thing I've ever tasted since my brother dared me to drink a shot of fairy liquid, aged five. Basically don't expect anything ground-breaking, but if you want somewhere central, atmospheric, safe and spacious enough to hear to friends rant about your shocking choice of wine, the folly is the place to go.

Don't take a parent there, ever.

What a treasure! As I worked in a building opposite this restaurant, my colleagues often go here for lunch. The best thing about this place is the style and decoration. It has a very Alice in Wonderland feel to it from the cushions on top of the funky chairs to the quirky ceramics and lamps. The bathrooms are also one of the finer ones I've been to and even made going to the toilet feel special. It is very popular among city folk on Friday nights and the contemporary bar downstairs is always filled with people.

The food is a pretty decent standard and they have a lot of healthy options. I like their London pork sausages and the crispy duck salad. I have a favourite drink here, which is the homemade lemonade - the citrusy taste is to die for and very unique. It comes in a jam jar, which I thought was quirky but a bit hipster for the City. I later brought a friend here after a gym session and he said it was the best soft drink he's ever had!

Good food but less quantity! Went here for a work brunch, I wouldn’t call my salmon toast brunch worthy quantity. I still liked the food. The taste was good. The ambience is nice as well. The place is fancy. Good decorations, staff are great and ample space in the restaurant.

This is our 4th visit to The Folly and again it was spot on. We both had the poached eggs on muffins one with smoked salmon and one with ham, eggs were cooked to perfection and just enough sauce to not make it to rich. The 2 bloody Mary’s I had set me hangover to rest.

This a combination of bar and restaurant located in central London. About 3 minutes walk from Monument tube station and sky garden. About 5 minutes walk from Garden at 120 and 8 minutes from the Gherkin building. Friendly and helpful staff. Food style is western cuisine. Lovely decor with pleasant ambience. What I’m not quite sure about is the animal skin rugs. A 12.5% service charge is added to the total bill which is common in many restaurants in central London. My friend and I enjoyed the food and shall be visiting again.

Passionfruit lemonade is delicious! very tart so beware but it is so refreshing! The decor is very relaxing; love the nature/hoho designs. Lots of table options. The restroom is also beautiful🤩 I had the grilled mushroom toast. It was cooked just right; juicy mushroom, toasted bread(non-wheat), melted salty cheese. Yummy. Great place to meet friends for a chat.

A fun environment, bubbly and definitely a place you can have drinks with friends and co-workers with. They offer all day food, from breakfast to diner. It’s huge, two floors. The upside is that there a lot of space and you can meet a lot of people, the downside is the noise. It’s very loud, especially when crowded. Nonetheless it’s absolutely worth checking out.

This is a busy place. However, it's worth it. Tried two different cocktails, and they were both very delicious. The decorations is also very good, and the photos will not do this much justice. The service upon entry you're greeted very nicely. However, the bar service seems to depend on who's tending but a good service overall. The music volume was good enough for you to have a normal conversation. Will revise as I'd like to try the food and view the downstairs area.

There is no better place yo eat out in the city than The Folly!! The atmosphere was amazing. Inside design is inspiring and very cosy. I would definitely recommend trying the chicken with polenta and seabass! Literally never ate it in that form. Our waitress was Sabina, really helpful and friendly lady. Made a difference to our visit.

Good decent food for a city-wise reasonable price in a very nice surrounding. Food was OK. Good fruitjuices. Service was reasonable. We asked for a seat near a window which seemed to be impossible even though 3/4 of the tables where empty. Only later we found out that they don't serve food there. Next time simply tell us. Atmosphere is really nice. Great interior decoration.

Nearly didn't go here due to the 4.0* average rating but couldn't really fault it. Dined on my own just before midday on Sunday and opted for roast beef. Everything was delicious including the wine. It's not cheap but this quality, in this postcode, you can't expect it to be. If I was being hypercritical I would say the medium well beef was not to my taste, but I appreciate many Brits like it that way. And despite cooked for that long was still moist and succulent. 😋
