What else can I say. In my opinion the best Pie and Mash shop in London. It has had a massive refurbishment and looks quite posh. Nearly walked passed It have been frequenting this establishment for well over 30 years. Don’t go very often but when I do go I have the whole nine yards. Yum, yum, yum!
I would totally recommend this pie mash shop to anybody my family have been going for years and as soon as I was on solids I was I'm now 34 years old, my nan & grandad have been going since they was young it's the best traditional pie mash shop you will EVER eat from I wouldn't go anywhere else.
I have eaten from this legendary shop all 49 years of my life, I have yet to feel anything less than total satisfaction with the meals. Food from the gods!
Amazing food a place with great character and no frills just very good and wholesome food. Was my first time even though I was born in tooting but now live in Sussex but will definitely be going back. =)
Really great. The staff are really friendly and the food is to die for.
Love this place, been coming here ever since I could remember and it never disappoints!
Drove from Berkshire to this place. Well worth the trip it was perfect. Got a takeaway too.
I grew up with Harringtons I'm 39 now and being using this place all my life I have tried others and there just not the same but the price has shot up not a cheap meal anymore
A great local pie shop! Nothing to dislike! Would go back any time
Bloody lovely grub ,not to sure about refit ,but once your stuffing yer face who cares
Top notch.. the best for me by far. No faults at all.
Just left after 1st visit.......Gorgeous grub staff are friendly just wish they sold ale
The first pie and mash for over five years and really enjoyed it nice to see one having been refurbished instead of closing when back in London will visit again
Justice ...
Hi carb hi fat hi five
Proper out out
Better now the pans are worn in .. is to die for in my opinion. Been visiting this shop for over 30 yrs . Shame they upgraded the shop as it was so nostalgic. But this has not stopped me visiting as often as possible.
Despite growing up in London I had only been to a pie and mash shop once before my recent visit to Harrington’s in Tooting. On request of my pie loving northern boyfriend we ventured to Selkirk Road to sample this top rated London establishment. No frills here, but a traditional London pie and mash with long bench seating and tiled walls. To my disappointment (ahem) there was a sign reading ‘no jellied eels’, they were all out. So we turned our attention to the rest of the menu, was it to be pie, mash and liquor or perhaps 2 pie, mash and liquor, or even 2 pie 2 mash and liquor and so the list goes on… By the way if you’re wondering what liquor is, it’s a parsley based sauce which has an unfortunate green slimy look, but is basically in place of gravy (and not as bad as it looks). The atmosphere is reminiscent of ‘Eastenders’, there is a headphone wearing teenage boy helping out and there are local families in for lunch, all of which add to the charm. This is an authentic London experience worth having and with the bill at around £10 for 2 it’s good value too.
Went at 16:15 and the pie mash and eels were still smashing. I thought the bottom of the pie could do with a touch more colour.
Chili vinegar gave a nice kick and the vibes were just classic.
Harringtons Pie & Mash restaurant is located in Tooting on Selkirk Road and has been operating there since 1908. The restaurant was nearly full with a broad range of customers from families with children to senior citizens and everyone in between.
To avoid disappointment arrive before 13:30 I arrived late afternoon for a Double/Double and after that customers were being turned away. This is testament to show that this establishment is one of the originals and has a strong customer base of locals.
The P&M was really good, piping hot and good consistency on both the liquor and mash. My only complaint would be that for a double portion of mash I would have expected more.
Parking is off street and there is a pay at machine terminal further down the street. The area is a hot spot for enforcement officers so Pay & Display is strongly advised. Definitely a new favourite for me and lovely decor inside
Used to come to this place as a kid back in the late 60's and 70's, then we used to use it when visiting my nan in Clapham, still the same lovely old place, great friendly staff especially the lady who served us, proper pie & mash. So good we took loads home with us 😋
Love pie, mash and liquor. Been going here since the day I started eating. Unfortunately, like everywhere right now, prices have risen. Friendly, long standing family run business, that have been going longer than I have!
Very delicous pies and mash. I wanted mine without the sauce... And its really cheap!! Paid like 5£ max for the meal with drink
Always lovely. Pity I can not get there as often as i would like, as I moved out of London. But it is always my first port of call when I visit. Always lovely. The best in London. ❤️
One of the best pie and mashes I've had, lovely smooth mash, heaps of thick liquor and a deep pie with loads of filling. I liked that it was in more of a bowl rather than a plate, it was almost like a pie soup! The shop was clean and I was served quickly with my family even at a busy time of day. Very pleased, will be sneaking back as soon as I get a chance
You will feel as if you've stepped into another era what with Harrington's tired decor and church pew-like benches, but this is more than made up for by their food! Tender stewed eels, a lovely pie, served with plenty of mash and liquor - and to top it off, a nice cup of tea served by beaming staff. A hidden gem!
I've been going here since I was little and it never disappoints. Amazing food, good prices and very family friendly. I always get a sense of nostalgia whenever I go. Just wish I lived closer so I could go there more often. I would definitely recommend coming here if you want authentic, delicious pie and mash.
Good old fashioned proper pie and mash. I've tried several different establishments, but Harringtons is the best.
Good old English food can't
* * * * * and another 5 stars. The food here is delicious, you can't beat a good pie and mash and Harringtons is pretty dam good.
The staff are very friendly and easy to chat too, the prices are good for what you get I think too. If you like pie and mash then this is the place.
I hadn’t been back to this area for 20 years. I was worried that the Pie & Mash of my childhood would be ruined. However, the same chef and server were still there which made my heart warm.
The food was and still is as great as I had remembered. The pie…. That pastry is like no other. The best in the world!! Been back twice since. 6 out of 5. Highly recommend this Pie & Eel House!!
Having been coming here for about 45 years, moved down south and visit when i can, tonight was slightly dissappointed, the recipe's have definately changed and not for the better. More solid pies and liquer not so tasty, such a shame as defo one of the best pie n mash shops around in its day. Please....go back to the old recipes defo not the same today.
The best pie n mash shop for miles! Staff are friendly and the food is always served hot. Parking is a bit of a nightmare outside so be prepared to walk.
It's serves good pie & mash but I have to say personally I much preferred the good old fashioned decor before the refurbishment - it doesn't seem as authentic and homely as it once did. Not sure if still the case but last time I visited it was cash only, might have changed since covid.
