We ordered a variety of dishes - sushi, beef sukiyaki, tempura, grilled salmon belly etc and they are all delicious. The prices are quite high but they gave us plenty of food so it's pretty good value for money. This is one of the best Japanese restaurant in North London!
Delicious and authentic, with friendly staff. Went for my 30th birthday dinner and would recommend to anyone looking for a relaxed setting.

Amazing food and really nice staff, friendly and helpful. Definitley will be back !!
The sushi is excellent quality and made freshly by an amazing sushi chef by the bar. Portions of hot dishes are perfect size. The prices are very reasonable.
Camden little secret
One of the best Japanese this side of the ocean
Nice authentic Japanese restaurant. Recommend Sashimi, Udon
Very very good. I enjoyed it immensely. My second time there and as good as the first time. Consistency is key.
This is the best restaurant ever!

Best sashimi out of Tokyo! Highly recommended.
Let me be clear, this is one very good Japanese restaurant. Everything I've ever eaten there has been top notch. Look forward to many return visits.
Authentic, good value and quality. Easy to walk past, this quiet Japanese restaurant is probably a big hit with the evening crowd. Our lunch was good quality and presentation and didn't shock the wallet. Happy to return any day.
Overall, it's a really good option if you're up for Japanese in the Camden area. I think Koya still has the overall better food but this is still within that quality range. Plus, you can reserve a table and get a much more intimate atmosphere here. The portions are comparable to that of Japanese cuisine in Japan, but may appear small compared to other Asian restaurants in London. They were more than adequate for everyone in our group though, so I can't complain. It's not the cheapest option for Japanese food, but the food was highly authentic and of very good quality overall, and so does justify the price.
Great Japanese food and an amazingly friendly staff. A bit pricey but they offer some nice lunch menu’s. The restaurant itself has not the best flair, but after 1-2 Asahi and a couple of Sake, you don’t notice this anymore 🍶😉
Saturday lunch set: delicious, lots of variety and taste from the set. Had a tofu in hot soup set, and a tonkatsu pork set. Nice dipping sauces, pickles, miso, rice and salad.
Friendly staff and fantastic food. You can enjoy varieties of authentic Japanese food here. It reminded me of life in Japan for over 20 years.
Authentic & mouth watering Japanese food with reasonable price. Great service and friendly staff!
This authentic Kyoto cuisine was recommended by a Japanese friend of ours. We ventured in yesterday and managed to get seats at the sushi bar despite having no prior booking. The interior is very nice and cozy.
We slowly made our way through their daily specials - edamame, deep fried white bait and sashimi. For the main course, we shared udon soup and marinated salmon belly. Washed it down with sake.
The food was indeed very fresh and delicious, the sashimi sublime. The bill was surprisingly reasonable.
We will definitely return -- our two favourite Japanese-run Japanese cuisine places in North London have shut down over the past two years, so Shimogamo will be our new port of call, albeit slightly more distant.
PS In the interest of full disclosure, our opinion was somewhat swayed by a portion of complementary unagi ;-)
Came here for sukiyaki specially. It was not all ready as I used to have but more like shabu shabu that you need to put your own beef. So need to put the beef on time otherwise the meet will either not cooked, or too cooked.
We had sukiyaki and shabu shabu set for lunch.
For sukiyaki, it’s good to come at dinner time, as the side dishes didn’t work well for me. The sashimi set and curry with rice looks really good that I wanna try next time.
Authentic Japanese food. Chicken karaage lunch set and grilled fresh mackerel set are awesome. Love to have them everyday.
Good quality sushi and miso soup. Handy location and they do set lunches. Still, a little disappointed that they serve bluefin tuna which I hadn't realised so won't be going back.
Very intimate Japanese restaurant with traditional food. Great quality food in a comfortable setting but a bit pricey.
Quiet on a Thurs night. Friendly staff. Really good food.
Really great lunch set! Tonkatsu ( fried pork) is super.
Friday lunch. A very satisfying feed. Light, but tasty and filling.
I went with a regular who ordered for me. We had a salmon teriyaki set lunch. The combination of dishes and flavours were lovely & delicate. The salmon was superb - it was all superb - but oddly it may even have been the rice that stood out.
Service wise they absolutely got how to do lunch swiftly & efficiently but without losing warmth or quality. Highly recommended.
My favourite Value-for-Money Japanese restaurant in London. I'm Japanese and I can tell you the sushi here is great and everything else on the menu is totally authentic. The lunch deals in particular are a steal! Nice simple ambience as well; a nice quiet place to enjoy a meal and conversation.
Have been today for the first time, the food was amazing! I had black cod and it was something which I won't be able to forget for a while. Also tried their 7 sushi plate, fantastic taste! Prices are a bit high, but you get excelent quality food for it, worth every penny Will go back again if I can!
If you ever go for Japanese food in London, make sure it is here.
The first time in my life I ate sushi, it tasted awful.
Cheap sushi can have an overly fishy taste and bad texture.
A friend took me here for lunch and I decided to give Japanese food a second chance.
If you're a newbie sushi eater (like me), I suggest you start with maki, which is thin slices of fish and rice wrapped in seaweed.
The Cucumber roll is also good, but has no fish.
-You have to put the entire thing into your mouth. Don't try to bite it in half! It is not supposed to be eaten that way and I ended up spilling rice.
Flavours are different, but I liked it. I wouldn't mind eating here again.
Even though the interior is simple, the plates are very fancy and make meals look eye appealing.
The atmosphere won't make you feel like you're in Japan, but the food is satisfying enough.
Great Japanese food. Not only fantastic sushis, but most traditional food is served as well: chicken teriyaki or karaage, sukiyaki, shabu shabu hot pot, aubergine with dashi, or incredible black and white roasted ones... I would just go for the salad dressing!
One of the best authentic Japanese owner Japanese restaurants. They have an amazing selection of Sake’s if you love your sake! My favourite Japanese hands down. And the staff are awesome.
