Excellent fish restaurant with an illustrious history. Once the best fish and chip restaurant in town .... now serving other delights such as fabulous lobster with a choice of fine wines to accompany. Will we return ... you bet.... the service is exemplary... our waitress Mariana was just delightful with perfect recommendations and great conversation that just made us feel happy and welcome. The surroundings in the chocolate box part of Notting Hill is twee to perfection... you can eat outside in comfort with blankets provided if it turns chilly. Yes yes yes.. it's perfect!

It’s been a while since I was last in Notting Hill. Living only around the corner (almost), it’s always the places that are closest to you which you seem to forget about the most. Trekking across to Shoreditch or drinks on the Southbank – no problem. But a short hop over to Notting Hill or browse on the King’s Road. I don’t do it nearly enough as I should. But finally, on one very sunny Saturday afternoon I made my way over to Geales in Notting Hill. One of the local’s favourite seafood hangouts. I even spotted some of the Made in Chelsea cast hanging around outside.

Easter Lunch. Delightful meal. Crab starters so fresh and delicious. Fine Muscadet well chilled. Superb Dover Sole with butter and the best chips in London. Good, friendly service. Not the cheapest but a perfect lunch.

This place is great for a quiet dinner with a loved one, not so great as a group. It's quiet and you feel as if you're disrupting the peace.

The food? I loved it. I had the lobster, bacon and avocado sandwich and I regret nothing. The bacon was crispy and delicious and the lobster was perfectly cooked. I left here absolutely stuffed, I regret nothing.

I had a few bites of the fish and chips and yes, they are something special. Definitely ordering it when I return, and I will return.

Their plating is superb and they actually care about your meal and experience, cannot fault the staff.

Geales. This place is a classic for fish and chips, and it's obvious why: the fish and chips are great, as well as all other varied menu items, and the service and decor are super welcoming.

An old favourite. Geales was the first restaurant I went to when I arrived in London 35 years ago. How amazing is that.

Geales. After not having been to Geale's for many years, I had dinner with a friend recently and we thoroughly enjoyed it! I had the moules which were definitely good value and perfectly cooked and a good portion of handcut chips - always a good test for me - and they too were perfect. Will be heading there again very soon.

Geales Appeal', that's what springs to mind. Where do I start? It's so very rare to come away from most restaurants knowing that they've ticked every box and this classy establishment did just that - handsomely.

I had been told about Geales by my friend Tom who emphasised the fact that for a Notting Hill establishment, the prices were really not that high.

We got there at seven and by seven fifteen the place was heaving. The menu was right up my street but was nervous about eating oysters - sometimes they can be milky when there's no r in the month but I took the plunge and ordered nine rock oysters. I'm glad I followed my instincts as they were delicious, served with Merlot vinegar and onions. My friend chose the dressed Cornish crab with crusty bread which was creamy, delicate and really very good indeed.

Both mains didn't fail to delight either. We made those silly noises that come only from eating preposterously gorgeous fare. My companion's plaice was simply cooked with a little herb butter to moisten it and was superb. My surf 'n' turf was also quite glorious. Succulent lobster and rare steak with some chunky chips and a mixed salad. I couldn't fault anything.

We had a Sancerre and a Sauvignon Blanc during the meal and the whole meal came to just over a hundred pounds. I defy anyone to serve the above up for less - anywhere in West London. Geales I salute you.
