We were extremely hungry and it was around 5pm.. didn't wanted to have anything proper so thought of trying this take away joint .. I ate chicken with rice noodles and hot pan asian sauce.. the box was big enough.. and the noodles were amazing.. perfect for a mid evening.. odd hours.. a must visit recommended..
Second time eating here. During my first visit, I ordered the Stewed Beef Dry Dao Mian, it was delicious but they told me that the most famous one is the Sliced Beef Soup La-Mian. Two thumbs up! Loved the soup broth and noodle. Tasted a bit like Vietnamese pho but it was yummy. FYI, they open from 10am-2am.
Very conveniently located next to Leicester square tube station. This is a small and authentic Chinese noodle bar. They do not have a lot of seating space so be prepared to wait and share your table with other people. The food comes quick and is really good and cheap.
Throughout this blog I’ve always championed style over substance – yes, My Old Place may be small and drab with service that is uncouth at best, but the food is amazing, and being swept along with the noise and energy is all part of the magic. We were asking to try out Lanzhou Noodle Bar by a reader (thanks for the recommendation Jose!), and after visiting I feel it definitely falls into the category of a gem that’s rough around the edges.
Great hand pulled soup noodles! Go for the stewed beef soup la mian or sour spicy sliced beef. Really good value, especially if you add extra noodles for £1
The Chinese live to eat and that's one irrefutable fact, like gravity or Yauatcha offering more bang for your buck than Hakkasan . More so is that fact that finding a Chinese eatery in London's Chinatown that scores on taste, pricing and service is practi
Not the comfiest place to eat and specially not the best service but if you want to try one of the best places in London for fresh noodles this is the place. Very affordable and generous portions. I love also the hot garlic char siaw with egg fried rice. Always good to come here!!
I had one mission for my lunch today and that was to find a place that makes good hand pulled noodles. A quick Google search led me to this little gem. Do not be fooled by its shabby exterior (and interior for that matter). People come here, and queue outside the door for the food alone. I was expecting them to serve just noodles but they have quite a large selection. I was put off a bit by the buffet style things in the window but wasn't going for that anyway. Once seated in the pokey basement I notice a huge pot of chilli oil on the table - great! I chose the wantons in hot oil as a starter and spicy sour beef noodle soup. They arrived in a different order to what I intended but wasn't bothered by that. The servings are very generous. I struggled to finish both dishes. The noodles themselves have a certain quality you can only achieve by making them on site. The broth is flavoursome and has a spicy kick.. can't help but augment it with that pot of chilli oil on the table anyway. Being next to Leicester Square the clientele is a bit of a mix. I know it's a bit corny to say but more than half the customers are Chinese which is definitely a good sign. Mission accomplished, Miso satisfied.
Good noodles, good price but small and crowded place ! We went on a Saturday night about 7pm and there was a long line waiting outside while it was raining ... Food was served quickly but we were seated near the entrance and it was really uncomfortable !
Good noodles, very affordable. packed place but staff is very fast and there is more seating downstairs. Got the crispy pork noodle soup, pork and soup broth were great. Also got the chili oil dumplings which were delicious. Good place if you need a quick and filling bite
My partner had the beef soup noodle and it was the best noodles we have ever eaten. I would strongly recommend this dish.
I ordered the dry sesame noodle and did not enjoy them, they were too claggy. The overall message is 'order right & you will be rewarded.'
When I travel I have one important goal: Finding a place which offers knife cut noodles! I went to this little gem this morning and it is amazing. I wish I could move in the house next to it in order to eat this food every single day. Very good value for money, attentive service. Place is busy and crowded but that’s just right and well deserved.
One of the best noodles I’ve had in London. It almost reminds me home, little bit different, but in an okay range. I ordered this beef noodle soup. Lots of beef, absolutely hand made noodles — so wonderful. I added little bit spicy sauce and vinegar, the best.
Good noodles for a very decent price (£12/ person). The portion sizes are very big too. However, the service is terrible and the waiters are rude. The dining atmosphere is also small, hot and doesn’t seem hygienic. You also have to sit on the same table as other people, hence taking away a star.
9/10. Absolutely an amazing La Mian noodles bar within downtown area. Hesitate to find a food after drink before you get steaming between McDonald or Kebab? Why not try authentic Chinese noodles with warm soup broth. Reasonable price in the deep night and cure your drunk heart.
💷 £5-20
💁🏻♂️ 5-15mins.
Great place for a late night meal, place is small but it gives off a authentic Chinese vibe, woman with red cap serving us was very kind, only con was the knife cut noodles were much thicker than normal.
Authentic hand made noodle
Taste great with refreshness if you don't mind the street food type of seating - small limited seats and you basically sit with strangers 😉
Food is better than places I have been to including New York city in the US.
Busy restaurant with a Chinese takeaway counter facing the streets. Ignore those and go in and get a seat at the communal tables or upstairs.
The handmade noodles are authentic and they are made on site by hands. You can occasionally see them making the noodles in the open kitchen.
You can pair the noodles to dozens of options and cooking methods. I ordered a stewed beef with dao xiao mian noodles and soup. It comes with some veggies and also coriander as garnish. Great comfort food!
It is quite busy but service is quick. However you might be required to move tables to make space for big groups, even halfway through a meal. So don't expect typical restaurant services.
Came with Chinese side of family: Authentic. Can be busy with limited seating so come early but even so, its worth the wait! Likely one of the best value bowls of 兰州拉面 in Europe.
Nice real Chinese beef noodles , man made noodles with beef broth and marinated shin beef slices. I felt so full and good after it. Highly recommend!
The noodle base broth was amazing, crisp and sharp yet soft and comforting. The hand pulled noodles was ok. Was little too thick for my taste wasnt tho.
Had to order before hand before entering. Didn't feel good to order while waiting outside for seats but it the way they do thing. Either way very good authentic Chinese experience
Almost made me cry. Such a big bowl of warm, flavorful noodle soup with super generous portion of thick chasiu pork slices. The handmade knife-cut noodles taste fresh and Q (equivalent to al dente?) and all of this for just £11. So fulfilling, so worth it!
Don't expect much atmosphere though; service was fast but chaotic like any authentic Chinese restaurant and the tables are a bit cramped. I came alone and had to share a table with another stranger dining solo. But that bowl of noodle soup is worth it!
It's quick & casual dining.
You see the chefs pulling the noodles, which is so mesmerising.
The food was amazing! I'd recommend trying the la mein (hand stretched noodles)!
I have been visiting this place regularly for many years. The Lanzhou Beef Soup Ramen and other noodles are all very classic, delicious.
This noodle bar also has a variety of traditional Chinese dishes.
Although this restaurant is quite small and can get very busy at times, the staffs are very diligent, friendly and efficient.
