First time coming here and I was wondering pleasantly surprised how filling the Korean Fried Chicken was. You can choose 2 different sauces so it can be half half as shown in the photo. We went for the 12 piece and that was pretty filling. I would recommend it if you want to try food to share!

So what is so good about On the Bab that makes people keep coming back for more? It is a fantastic combination of good food, relaxed ambiance, and great value. This is something that can feel a bit like an urban legend in a big, expensive city like London.Ā
If you want a quick trip to Korean food heaven, On the Bab is a fool-proof ticket. Make sure you order their Korean buns, Yangyum chicken, &Ā Bibimbab.

This hip and reasonably priced Korean place serving street food meets all expectations. It's a great place to go after the theatre as there are quite a few near by. We weren't too hungry so we just had a couple babs and a serving of yangyum chicken which didn't disappoint. I'm keen to come back to try to toppoki and bibimbab.

On the Bab is a casual Korean eatery that houses multiple locations throughout London. I'm consistently impressed with the quality of food for the price point. I rate it much higher than most of it's competitors (Bibimbap, Bibigo, etc)

TOPPOKI (9/10) - One of my favorite things ever, Toppoki are rice cakes swimming in a Gochujang and anchovy laden sauce. This iteration is accompanied with fish cakes and various vegetables. The sauce is the star of this dish. The Gochujang is incredibly present and in your face, while a fishy funk on the finish provides an incredible lasting flavor

Mushroom Bun (8/10) - The bun is lighter than most that I've come across. The mushroom is generously meaty and bursts with juices as you bite into it. The batter is light and crisp, providing just enough of a bite to compliment the mushroom.Ā

Prawn Patty Bun (8/10) - The contents of the prawn patty are prawn prawn prawn with little filler. Like the mushroom, the batter on the prawn patty is just thin enough to provide a textural contrast while also not eating like a grease bomb at all.Ā

Fried chicken (7/10) - They're experts at frying things here. The batter is again and importantly second to what it encompasses.

On the bab is one of my favorite and most frequented casual eateries. There is a lot of attention to detail to make very simple things taste great. I could eat the Toppoki every day of my life.

This place makes really great creative dishes. We ordered the tteokbokki which unfortunately wasn't chewy enough (but the fish cake that came with it was really good), the on the roll (fried chicken) and on the gun (spicy pork). Be warned, the on the... items we ordered were quite messy, so get ready for finger lickin goodness! šŸ˜‹

Its a very tiny space squeezed in between hundreds of shops in covent garden, but definitely not to be missed!
Portion wise on point, service was okay and fast. Taste wise, absolute delish! We ordered rice cakes, some jjigae and some on the rice, and they absolutely nailed every aingle of it.

Lively and busy and for good reasons. Well priced, decent portion sizes and an excellent bibimbap. Highly recommend for those new to Korean food. Kimchi had the right level of spice and kick and service was prompt and polite.

My rating is more around 3.8, but I just rounded up. This Korean restaurant is definitely marketed more towards Westerners than people who are more familiar with the cuisine, but the food isn't too bad. The portions are bigger than Seoul Bakery's, for example, but they've also got a lot of added stuff to it to make it more palatable to people who have never tried Korean food (ie. the mayo-thing they offer to dip your kimbap in).Ā

Well-decorated interior: very hipster-y and clean, but also small, which means that the space fills up pretty quickly. If I really want something from this place, I usually order on deliveroo instead of going all the way to Covent Garden and waiting for a table. Knocked down 0.2 just because it's a lot pricier than SB/Bibimbab Cafe, but considering the difference in portion size it doesn't matter too much.

Korean food found its spotlight a few years ago and doesnā€™t seem to have waned in London. For a long time Londonā€™s Korean food scene was skewed towards the traditional; the authentic dingy little eateries on St Giles Street or if you were diehard enough, in far flung New Malden. But recently eateries focusing on a more modern slant on Korean food, even fusion, have sprung up. On the Bab rides this trend and is arguably one of the most successful.

This popular Korean street food restaurant doesnā€™t take reservations so it's not one to visit if youā€™re short on time (allow for queuing and slow service when busy). Well worth a visit for great Korean food though ā€“ the bulgogi beef was so good itā€™ll be a challenge to try something different next time. But Iā€™ll try; the people next to us were eating bbang ā€“ steamed buns filled with meat (or mixed vegetables) and our waitress also recommended yangyum chicken ā€“ Korean style fried chicken in batter with crushed peanuts. Ready to returnā€¦

This place is always being recommended by friends and was all over social media, thus we decided to go take a look! We ordered both the roll and bun with a small side, enough for two. The orange sauce matches really well with the food and the fry chicken and beef goes well with the bun and roll

I don't love you, but I like you. Why don't I love you? I found your bulogi underseasoned which made the On the Babs quite bland and your Tebokki quite starchy leaving a sticky taste in my mouth as opposed to chewy. Now, why do I like you?

- Your Korean Fried Chicken - sweet spicy over special soy!!
- Your On The Roll (Korean Style Rice Burrito) - it's basically gimbap and ohh so refreshingly good! Note that the other On The Bab branches do not serve this.
- Your On The Bibimbab - a Korean classic and doesn't disappoint, although please note the dish is cold
- Your drinks - Plum Punch and Korean Plum Tea are a nice change to the usual soft drinks

The Covent Garden branch is spacious with trendy rustic decor - I'd highly recommend!

Definitely a good place to get some Korean street food. I've been here twice now and I still can't wait to come back!

Ordering the fried chicken is a must! They have four different sauces you can choose from a four different sizes or servings. The bimbimbap with bulgogi beef was amazing and the spicy pork buns were to die for.

For a refreshing drink, try the plum juice with honey and lemon.

On The Bab opened just after I stopped working in Covent Garden, which was unfortunate timing as I love a bit of Korean and always looking for a nice casual lunch spot thatā€™s not too expensive. I wondered past yesterday and thought why not ā€“ a quick couple of snacks with my sis to keep us locked up til dinner.

There is no denying it; here at Yummy feed there is a serious love of everything Korean ā€“ food, drink, culture and music! When I discovered I worked around the corner from On the Bab ā€“ a little gem of a place, I was ecstatic and I ventured down and walked the long 30 seconds to their Shoreditch branch and then again to their Covent Garden branch with the tall one and a couple of friends. (Not on the same day, although it was tempting!)

The atmosphere is great - they have great decor and the playlist they have seem to showcase the best of K-Pop.

Foodwise, the star of the show is the yangyum chicken! Crispy glazed chicken, sprinkled with peanuts. There menu will give you a choice of sauces, but our favourite is the sweet, spicy! Following this, our second favourite dish are the buns aka on the buns. The flavour we will pick each time - spicy pork! But don't despair, it isn't very spicy. Just delish.

It can be hard to find a well priced restaurant in Covent Garden if you're not looking for a chain restaurant, but On the Bab is a real gem in this area, and a restaurant I know I'll be going back to again and again!. I was meeting the lovely Lauren from Elle Bloggs (I mean with a name as wonderful as that I just knew I was in for a treat!) for dinner and a catch up over, with a side of blog talk!

We'd been talking via Twitter for ages so it felt only right that we meet in 'real life' for some food - and I quickly discovered we are basically like the same person. She is seriously awesome so I urge you to follow her if you don't already!. Our original dining spot backfired on us, so chose to head to On the Bab as Lauren had heard some promising reviews. It's a laid-back Korean street food restaurant just off the main square in Covent Garden.

After reading Andrea Petersen's review of On the Bab I knew I just had to visit. And BOY was I glad I did. I've not really had much Korean food before so wasn't entirely sure what to expect but this cheap eat is a real winner in my book.

Service was great: they were there when we needed them but weren't pushy and didn't nag us to get the table back.

Price wise, you'll struggle to get anything as good for this kind of price in Covent Garden - we were seriously impressed.

The food itself is extremely flavorsome: we ordered two main dishes and a side to share and were delighted at what we ordered. The Korean paella in particular was delicious - full of flavour and the egg was cooked to perfection.

You'd me missing a trick if you didn't visit On the Bab soon!

We have a team of Angels at work; senior and junior execs who are absolutely heaven-sent for helping the rest of us get by. In the world of legal PR consultancy, I think we've got some of the best in the batch and I am proud to be able to call them my colleagues. Few weeks ago, I took the kids out to lunch partly to discuss transitions at work and partly to thank them for all their efforts. Chosen ground for play was On the Bab on Wellington Street. Efficiently, one of the angels managed to book a table for us so we didn't have to queue at all.

I am in a serious Korean food kick at the moment and so a busy Wednesday night lead us into On The Bab.Ā
It was busy and the waitresses looked very stressed out, I still don't think that warrented them completely ignoring me for the 5 minutes I was stood waiting to ask for a table, but anyway.Ā
Sat squished in, opposite the kitchen, we ordered chicken dumplings (they were seriously incredible), Yangyum chicken in the garlic mayo (crispy & delicious but slightly too much sauce) and beef & chicken on the buns. The buns were soft & pillowy and stuffed full of goodness. The beef was superior to the chicken honestly, but they were still both, yummy although, too sweet for me. The actual buns seemed to be too sweet and the pickles seemed to have added sugar.Ā
I would go back (if there was no queue) because the food was good and well priced but the service left a lot to be desired. All the dishes came sporadically, my drink didn't come till after the food and we had to wait for 10 minutes for the bill. Could be better

The Yangyum Chicken were my favourites, more the Sweet Spicy than the Garlic MayoĀ  but it was something different! Great with beer! The Korean Style Burrito is essentially a kimbap, a lot of condiments in them and a very large vegetable to meat ratioā€¦

Having visited the original On The Bab on Old Street on its opening night I was keen to visit its new Covent Garden site which opened last month. On The Bab serves modern Korean dishes along with a mix of classic dishes in a modern open kitchen environment with K-Pop tunes providing a chilled out backdrop. The menu is split between nibbles, small dishes, Korean fired chicken, rice and bun dishes and traditional dishes. In the nibbles sections are bar snacks and its take on a muffin, which is a food trend from South Korea. It comes in a choice of fillings, kimchi & cheese or quail egg & bacon, we opted for the former. Yangyum chicken better known as Korean fired chicken comes a small medium or large sizes and with a choice of flavours. The classic sweet spicy is very moreish and goes perfect with ice cold beer.Ā  The garlic mayo and seasoned spring onion flavours are also very good but the sweet spicy has the edge. The small dishes section contains dumpling and salad dishes. A noodle salad with bulgogi beef is refreshing and light. Seaweed salad with sweet spicy dressing has a kick from the chilli seeds and is served in a jar. The classic bulgogi beef bibimbab is served in a metal bowl, note a stone bowl is only used if described as a dolsot bibimbab. More interesting is another Korean food trend being a Korean style burrito with spicy pork. Essentially a sushi roll but very enjoyable. From the traditional dishes section we tried a baek ban, which is a single tray with a choice of meat served with rice, salad and kimchi. Our choice was the spicy pork which was very additive with the kimchi and rice. Soondubu Jjigae is a spicy tofu & seafood stew with free range egg. This was a warming dish together with plain boiled rice with the right level of heat and variety of seafood including squid, mussels and shrimps. Possibly my favourite thing about the new On The Bab is the large pitchers of Somaek beer which are served in large iced tubes and dispensed at the table at your

Korean cuisine is something of a comfort food for me - I'm not sure why exactly, but I think it's partly because I grew up in Wimbledon, which is close to New Malden, which is a Korean hub and have great restaurants and Korean supermarkets. We also frequented Cah-Chi (a very good, family run restaurant which I'd recommend if you're in the area!) and it became our go-to as a family, so that probably has something to do with it as well.

On The Bab is a special place for me. I first visited it (with my now best foodie buddy V.A) last April, and I instantly fell in love with the menu. So with V.A alongside, we naturally wanted to sample everything from the new menu. We started by perusing the menu with a sweet Cherry Blossom Cocktail. This culminated in us ordering: Korimari with Bulgogi Beef, Spring Onion Fried Chicken, Pumpkin & Potato Salad, Fried Chicken On The Roll, Seaweed Salad with citrus dressing, and Rice Poppers.

The Fried Chicken On The Roll was definitely my favourite dish of the evening - something similar to gimbap, it has been amusingly named Korean Burrito. The mixture of textures and flavours work incredibly well together, and left me wanting the whole two rolls to myself. The Spring Onion Fried Chicken was a drier version of one of my favourite dishes at OTB. Whereas the flavours were strong, it was the crispier texture that I enjoyed. The Korimari came with a tender well-marinated side of bulgogi beef and vegetables. I loved the sesame oil aftertaste, and the simplistic way of eating - this is definitely one for Summer! The light, refreshing salads were thoughtful sides to the mains, and whereas the Pumpkin & Potato Salad was a little bland, I liked the sweetness of it. The Seaweed Salad was the better of the two though, with a tangy citrus dressing that paired well with the stringy vegetable. The rice poppers weren't to my liking, but I think they'd be pretty good if you were drinking more than you were eating...you know what I mean.

Of course when you love a restaurant so much there is always the chance that you may not enjoy a new menu. However I had faith in OTB, and thanks to the chefs wonderfully modern take on authentic Korean cuisine, I need not worry. The new Covent Garden location has a serene ambience, and the usual superb service. This is one restaurant I would make the commute from East to West for.

Thank you so much to On The Bab who invited me and V.A to dinner to celebrate their opening. On The Bab is one of my favourite restaurants in London, so it meant a lot to be invited before the restaurant had even opened. As always with these kind of post, my views and words are my own - I truly love this food.

12 months ago, when I was casually stalking my instagram feed, I saw a photo of mouth-watering ramyun. It was the kind I only knew from Korean TV shows, served in a metal bowl and topped off with a slice of cheese. That was my first encounter with On The Bab, my favourite Korean restaurant in London. Now they opened their second restaurant in Covent Garden with great new additions to their menu, perfect for an after-work get-together!

The industrial interior is as warm and welcoming as the Shoreditch one with its marble surfaces, wooden bar counter and old school bar stools. Though, it's much larger than the original, which makes the whole eating experience much more relaxing as you don't have to cuddle with your seat neighbour. On The Bab has even intensified it's focus on anju - food usually eaten with alcohol - by offering quite a few more cocktails and drinks, with the option of going for a glass or even a carafe. Or if you are really hardcore, you can also get a 1.7l beer tower, which looked pretty intense but awesome at the same time. Emma and I went for the Cherry Blossom cocktail carafe, perfect for the season. So refreshing! It was a little tricky to drink from the tiny glasses, but made us concentrate more on the food. I was tempted to go for my usual spicy pork buns, but we focused on the new additions to the menu.

My favourite dish was the Fried Chicken with Spring Onions. The spring onions were marinated in this awesome sweet and tangy sauce that had a hint of spice due to the chilli flakes. The chicken itself was a little drier than the usual Soy Garlic Fried Chicken I get, but this texture actually blended incredibly well with the spring onions. Number 2 for me was the On The Roll with fried chicken, rice wrapped in seaweed in a roll with seasoned vegetables. It's basically gimbap, regardless of it's fancy name, though filled with fried chicken and topped off with fried shallots it was a mix of soft and crunchy and full of flavour. It was like a rice bowl in a bite.

We also had the Korimari, which is version of gimbap for those who like it a little more simple. Beautifully arranged, you get a platter with rice rolled up in seaweed next to your chosen meat, some kimchi, dried anchovies and mayo salad. The beauty of it is the fact that you can eat the rice roll together with all the sides or separately, however you like. The bulgogi we ordered with it was tender and well-marinated, while the anchovies were chewy and sweet (probably not something for everyone, but worth a try!). I was really impressed by the previous dishes, which kind of made the salads we ordered look a little weak in comparison. Nonetheless, the seaweed salad was refreshing, tangy and crunchy and went incredibly well with the fried chicken. I wasn't too impressed by the pumpkin & sweet potato salad, which was actually a mash. It was served cold and mild in flavour. I felt like you could have added a little kick to eat. Either way, what I liked about the salads was also the fact that they come in cute little glass jars. On The Bab has really nailed down presentation! After all these filling dishes, we nibbled on some authentic Korean rice poppers, which consisted of fried dumpling wrappers and fried rice chips. They were really crunchy, maybe a tad too crunchy, and came with their signature spicy sweet mayo. I quite liked them, but I'm not sure how I feel about the dust of sugar they had.

As expected, On The Bab did not disappoint and even impressed with their new dishes. You can get vouchers for their new restaurant when eating at On The Bab Shoreditch, Koba, Nizuni and Nizuni go during the opening period.

Cute little family run Korean shop that seems to specialise in quick lunches. The lunch deal was reasonable at Ā£11.50 for rice, salad and your choice of main + 3 dumplings. I had the spicy pork and the fried chicken. The pork was a generous serve. It was thinly sliced and well flavoured, but I felt it had a bit too much fat. The fried chicken was just ok -the chicken wasn't as crunchy as it could have been, and the chicken wasn't properly tossed in the sauce. I think the real standout at this place is the kim chi. I did think there was a lot of plastic packaging used, which I found a bit off-putting.
