I love this place so much. The food is incredible, the staff are lovely - proper little gem!
I love this restaurant. I have a 6 month old puppy and they are so sweet with her, and the pizza is amazing šš¶

Love this place, quality ingredients, the pizzas are delicious! Great wine too!
Great food and service :)
Nice quirky pizzeria and cafe! Ā Ā Ā Ā
Tried this place as had to kill time, so ventured inside to have coffee and cake. The place has got great ambience with quirky decorations. It seemed to be very popular with families on pizza outings with kids. Pizza menu looked tempting and well-priced but we sticked to hot drinks as per the plan. Coffee was not disappointing and gluten free cake was ok as well. Apparently they do wine and beer tasting evenings along with sales of organic olive oil.....a little Italy away from Mediterranean! would return to try their pizza from stone oven.
The enormous pizza was absolutely delicious, with the chewy, bubbly dough that you always hope for with an Italian pizza. It was very generously topped with the most flavoursome Prosciutto, rich parmesan and peppery rocket.
Sweet Thursday is my Friday night hangout: enjoying their thick, stone-baked crust pizzas and excellent wine selection in a relaxed, low-key setting is the perfect way to unwind after a busy week.
I usually order the same pizza every time (both because I'm boring and also because it's damn good), the Salssicia - spicy sausage and broccoli on a creamy base. The pizzas are always served directly from the oven; hot enough to burn your tongue, well-seasoned and made with fresh ingredients.
Service is usually prompt and polite. It's also a family-friendly restaurant, where kids are welcomed and included - a plus for younger families in the area.
The location is a little tricky for non-locals, but if you're in the area, it's worth a visit.
Sweet Thursday is one of my favourite local discoveries ā a colourful spot with the most delicious pizza and a chilled out atmosphere.
The charming Italian restaurant is nestled among a row of shops and restaurants on Southgate Road in leafy De Beauvoir just a short walk away from Kingsland Road. If youāre not familiar with De Beauvoir, itās a pretty part of east London with large Georgian houses and plenty of inviting gastropubs.
Behind Sweet Thursday are siblings Richard Haines and Rosie Wesemann, who grew up in De Beauvoir with Harry Davies and opened The Scolt Head and The De Beauvoir Deli respectively. They were joined by bio-chemist turned pastry chef Bethany Chellingworth and artist Tom Halifax, plus chef Martina Vaccari and Giacomo, their experienced pizzaiolo from Naples.
I visited Sweet Thursday when my mum came to visit and we were looking for somewhere nearby with a tempting menu where we could chat easily.
The medium-sized restaurant has an authentic pizza oven and open kitchen and a market offering gourmet Italian produce at the front. The design is simple and bright with large wooden tables, painted school-style seats and nostalgic prints and maps of Italy.
I like it that the restaurant has a literary connection, inspired by the John Steinbeck novel Sweet Thursday and thereās even a framed edition hanging proudly above the bread station.
We decided on a few starters to share and couldnāt resist some Prawns wrapped in pancetta with chili and garlic (Ā£6.50). The three plump, succulent prawns were served in their shells, yet they were already separated and wrapped in salty, crisp pancetta. They came with a bed of rocket and a light tomato and caper sauce, which was tasty but needed a bolder kick of chili and garlic.
Another tempting starter was the Buffalo Mozzarella with Caponata (Ā£7.50). The mozzarella was so cool, creamy and flavoursome, drizzled with high quality olive oil and topped with fresh herbs. The caponata had a rustic, home-made taste with slow-roasted Mediterranean vegetables and plenty of green olives.
I couldnāt resist try the Pizza Crudo ā Prosciutto crudo, rocket, tomato, mozarella, parmesan (Ā£11.50). The enormous pizza was absolutely delicious, with the chewy, bubbly dough that you always hope for with an Italian pizza. It was very generously topped with the most flavoursome Prosciutto, rich parmesan and peppery rocket.
The tomato sauce was simple and made with sweet, sunkissed tomatoes and there was just the right amount of silky mozzarella.
Steven ordered an Italian speciality of Lentils and Tuscan Sausage (Ā£12.50). The succulent, juicy sausages were well-seasoned with hint of fennel and the rich lentil stew was warming and spicy, with soft, chunky vegetables.
My mum tried the Calzone ā mozzarella, nduja, rocket, tomato and parmesan (Ā£12). The folded dough was nicely charred and generously filled and she was able to substitute the nduja for tasty marinated artichokes.
For dessert, steven and I shared a slice of Polenta and Orange Cake (Ā£5.50). It was springy and zesty with a firm, dry texture, rather than a drenched polenta cake.
Our slice of cake was a lovely end to the meal, but my mumās Blood Orange Posset (Ā£5.50) was the real winner. The smooth set cream was cool and light while the blood orange compote added an intensely zingy sweetness and pleasant bitterness. It was served with home-made Italian biscuits and was decadent yet fresh and satisfying.
Sweet Thursday feels slightly below the radar and like a secret haven away from bustling Kingsland Road. The design and branding of the restaurant are cool and uplifting and the vibe is neighbourly and unpretentious. The Italian staff are charming and service is at a relaxed but reasonable pace. I canāt wait to go back and indulge in more delicious Italian comfort food.
One of the best Pizza's I have eaten in London...Although the location is not very convenient to get to unless you live in and around Hackney, I have been to to this restaurant twice in a month! My friends live very close by and that is how I came across this little pizza place. I love thin crust pizza's and Sweet Thursday makes the best ones. Their menu is quite extensive and has a few choices for vegetarians as well. They only serve pizza's and salads and some Italian baked dishes like cheese cauliflower etc...Spinach and Rocket salad we had was amazingly fresh, crisp and were excellent accompaniment for Pizzas.
I would go back again for sure!
Great place for pizza. Great atmosphere and friendly staff. They have some beautiful maps of Italy hanging on the walls which makes the place really charming. In general, great vibe. I also like the selection of toppings.
Fancied trying a new pizza place and found this on Google Maps. We built our own vegan pizzas with the Marinara base. I loved mine (I added artichokes and vegan Nduja) but thought the prices were a bit steep - Ā£2 for each additional toppings. The Pizza of the Month didn't have a vegetarian or vegan equivalent. The waiter was very friendly, and even explained to us what the restaurant is named after. It was nice to eat outside in the sun. I love my fresh juice (apple, pear, ginger, carrot) The inside is very well-decorated too. They do gelato which we didn't try. Overall a really nice place albeit expensive compared to other pizza places (we paid Ā£41.34 for 2 pizzas and 2 drinks!), and perhaps best to go with meat eaters.
One of the best pizzas I've had in 2023, good size and fairly reasonable prices. Good and quick service. Have a nice selection of beers, although predominantly in bottles.
We ate here on our first night in London. Our server was very nice and we did not have to wait long at all for our food or to be seated. We both got a marinara pizza and it was delicious!
Delicious Pizzas, pastas, antipasti and other dishes. The pizzas are the highlight! The dipping sauces are also great. Friendly service and good vibes. Nice selection of cocktails and wines.
Excellent Italian spot in the heart of Dalston. The pizzas are delicious, with classic Neapolitan sourdough base. I had the Porchetta which was one of the best white based pizzas Iāve ever eaten. The Negroni was tasty, but definitely a spot for good food. The restaurant is also family friendly.
Pretty decent pizza & a good wine selection!
Also had the burrata which was a nice portion.
Dog friendly inside and outside which was appreciated!
Would definitely come back. I'd recommend reservations for weekends!
LOVE this place. Have only been once but the pizza was fantastic, staff were great and the atmosphere is lovely.
Number 1 pizza choice in the area.
Amazing restaurant! So glad I stumbled across it. Pizza is amazing, affordable and the wine is also great. You can pick up a great bottle for Ā£10! Will be back šÆ
My second favorite pizza spot in the whole of London. Really good pizza menu with interesting toppings. They donāt have much of a pasta menu but thatās not why you go there! The wine selection is pretty decent too.
Best pizza in London, I am fussy when it comes to pizza, base needs a proper Italian style pizza and this place serves the best Iāve ever eaten in the UK
We asked to organize a dinner with friends in the Cannery which is a very nice and private room.
We were adults and children and we had a great time.
The organization was perfect. the staff took care of us with great professionalism and dedication.
Food is very good suited for adults and children we were also able to listen our favorite music.
Perfect evening!
Delicious and authentic. The pizza of the month is always interesting and definitely worth a try!
