Highly recommended. Great tasting finger licking food, large portions, great chefs, great waiters, great prices! My first visit and I will definitely return again! Can’t believe I’ve just discovered this lovely restaurant right on my door step! So glad I did!

Only ever had take out from here but had a sit in meal the other night. The food is amazing the atmosphere tops it off. The staff are friendly and down to earth. It's no frills but with food that good and a wonderful atmosphere, it's all you need.

The greek food at Tsiakkos & Charcoal is, hands down, the best I have had in London! The food feels as if it is home made, as the portions are generous and the food itself is delicious! As a starter, I highly recommend the greek salad (it has a generous chunk of feta cheese!) along with all the traditional dips (Taramasalata, Tzatziki, hummus) and pitta bread - These were all fantastic! For mains, I highly recommend the grilled fish and the different types of grilled marinated meat. The staff are really friendly and the restaurant itself is very cosy, as it has very dim, candle lighting. The only negative aspect of this restaurant are the toilets - These could be done up! Nonetheless, if you like Greek food, this is a restaurant that you wouldn't want to miss. Highly recommend it!

This place is awesome. Small menu all high quality food. I had the most amazing pork. The whole place looks like someone's front room during a powercut. Highly recommended.

As our little Susanitta was off sunning herself on a boat somewhere off a Greek island, the rest of us decided to be with her in spirit and head to a Greek style taverna and have a meal in her honor. So we decided to go and try Tsiakkos & Charcoal in Maida Vale, which was our number one choice, before we decided to go all German a week or so ago. I'm still recovering from that boozy weekend. How much wine can you drink before it buggers up your liver. Tsiakkos & Charcoal is deep within Maida Vale, a quaint leafy suburb that harks back to when London was more gentile and easy going. We had tried to telephone the restaurant but no one ever picked up the phone, so we ambled past it very early. I mean 7pm early. I know, but some of us were really famished. It was then that we found out that they open at 7.30, so we wandered over to the Neeld Arms, the local on the corner. A nice old Irish boozer, but oddly the only beers they had on draught were either extra cold or super cold. I mean who

I don't know if you've noticed, and I daresay you haven't, but I've been on a mini-quest to find a Greek restaurant in London worth bothering with. At the risk of repeating myself, it makes no sense that just so many Greek restaurants in the capital are so bad - the cuisine isn't a million miles away from Turkish and there are more good ocakbasi than you would ever want, and the Greek community in London is equally long-established and successful. After a poor meal at Lemonia in Primrose hill, commenter Alex C thought that it might be simply that Greeks cook all their best food at home, and whether or not that's true (I've also heard rumours that Lemonia staff get fed exceptionally well, it's just the paying public that suffer), it's not really an excuse. London even has a smattering of good Mexican restaurants now, and there must be far fewer Mexicans making their way over the Atlantic than there are Greek Tavernas already up and running. The whole thing is baffling. So more in hope t

A large group of us met one evening to try the Greek cuisine on offer at Tsiakkos & Charcoal, a little restaurant in Maida Vale with a tiny kitchen and an equally tiny eating area. We were led to the back where tables had been reserved for us – the back being their sheltered outdoor terrace with lots and lots of heaters! Luckily, we just about stayed warm while eating! The whole meal felt like eating in someone’s living room and we’d heard the food was some of the best Greek food in London. The small menu presented to us had a selection of starters and a handful of main courses. With guidance from our Greek friends who’d been here before, we all opted for the £20 per head meze deal (minimum two people) and then sat back and waited for the food to arrive. A lot more arrived than I expected – you really get a bit of everything that the restaurant has that day! All the dishes I photographed below were shared between four people. Baskets of pitta bread first arrived with generous portions

I absolutely loved this restaurant! The food was delicious, however the staff really made the difference, especially Ed, he was very friendly and gave us wonderful recommendations to ensure we were really experiencing the best dishes, without having to order the whole mezze as we weren’t that hungry. I look forward to returning next time I’m in London. Ps. If you don’t like coriander, don’t forget to mention no coriander as all the dishes had a lot sprinkled on top!

George is a legend. It’s been a while since the waiters have asked our names and introduced themselves. Service excellent. Food excellent. Atmosphere awesome despite the humble decor. This hidden gem with no name on the street and window curtains hiding its location, focuses on serving just the best most genuine Greek food in London. Φοβερο. Ευχαριστώ!

Great place. Smoky as hell. Real honest food. Grill or oven. Salad and bread. Nothing much more. But surely worth it.

5 starts to T&C hands down. Food was delicious, still dreaming about the pork lamb shoulder and lamb on the bone. Melted in your mouth and so full of flavour! Service was superb, Adam made us laugh all night long and was accommodating to find us a table at the last minute (highly recommend reserving in advance). Only regret is not having been able to eat more. Strongly recommend and can't wait to go back. Atmosphere 100% too!

Everything was perfect -- service, food, wine (went with the suggested bottle of Papagiannakos Erythros (red) over the one we originally chose). My husband had the Kleftico (lamb). It was flavorful and the meat fell off the bone. It was hopping busy, yet the staff managed to be very attentive. They even remembered our names throughout the evening, wow!

There are a lot of locals who do not want to share this Fantastic Greek restaurant around the corner…just in case they can’t get in… they might have to queue or find it’s fully booked…come early you’ll find young lovers on their first date, come late and the taxis are having a late snack… the arty types the captains of industry all know where to eat a good Greek meal…. And so do I.. 5 stars any day .. Jbx

Been recommended Tsiakkos and Charcoal for a while now from a few friends so it was about time I headed down there! First of all the greeting by our host for the evening Elisard was absolutely fantastic. Extremely hospitable young man making sure that all of the guests were greeted with a very warm welcome! The food was absolutely spot on. We ordered a few Meze dishes to start. The Halloumi and Hummus are a must!! Moving on to the mains and the Moussaka and Kleftico went down an absolute treat! Extremely generous sized portions and something we will be heading back for again!! 10000% a restaurant you need to get ticked off your list in London! Can't wait to return!!

Wonderful and passionate cooking. Don't expect to get the trappings of the London restaurant industry. Do expect to be overwhelmed by a genuine passion for food and welcomes. You will want to tip the waiters here and you need to have cash for that. They can't take a service charge or tip on your card for some reason.

This place is amazing. Nothing pretentious, but easily one of the best Greeks in town. Food, wine, little inside terrace and service are great. Great atmosphere too. It’s like going to a big family meal!

Great family owned Greek restaurant. It's a bit hidden from the street. I live nearby and have never checked it out before because I didn't know it was a restaurant there. The food is very very good and the portions are generous. The rice is one of the best I've had and the lamb is super tasty and well cooked.
