The best pub in South London , wonderful staff who are always more than happy to cater to your needs . Buzzing atmosphere, which brings the community together and new friendly faces. Family friendly until 8.30pm and then big kids are still around until closing . Throughout the week they offer unique events, which are guaranteed fun . Whatever your intentions are from birthdays to casual drinks . This pub is the best place to be on the South side of the river . I would highly recommend this pub to everyone . Just wanted to give a massive thank you all the staff at the Old Nuns Head for offering a bespoke experience . xxxx

Great pub with fantastic staff. We were a party of 15 with 3 babies and we were looked after brilliantly. The burgers from burger bear were unreal. Can’t recommend it enough.

A great pub we're pleased to call our local: great staff, food, beer and 'craic'. Always look forward to visiting and haven't been let down once. The Irish fella with curly hair and shorter girl (name beginning with a M?) are gems- always happy, friendly and willing to go the extra mile. Bravo!

Gorgeous venue with really accommodating staff. My partner found a book he's been looking for for AGES in there and the staff allowed him to take it and made their day! A gem of south London and hope to be back soon.

Excellent local pub. My local pub of choice and while there are two or three pubs nearer to home it's always worth the ten minute walk up to Nunhead Green for a well-kept pint and a decent dinner.

A bit of a turn around from a year ago. Managers had lost interest, the beer was barely drinkable and you would only think about ordering food if you were really starving, drunk or more likely a combination of the two.

Happy to report that pretty much everything has been turned around by the new team headed up by Lou and Dan. It's been a gradual process rather than a quick fix and that's why I think the good times might be here to stay at The Old Nuns Head.

The decor is cosy and there are some interesting bits of furniture dotted around the spacious drinking/eating area. Downstairs it's a three part arrangement with a more relaxed chilling type area to the left of the bar with a real fire, there are three nice "booth" tables immediately in front of the bar and to the right there is a fairly large area with an assortment of old school tables and chairs and another real fire. Lighting is subtle and adjusted to match the mood and time of day.

The pub attracts a very mixed clientele, with plenty of long term residents of Nunhead alongside more obvious newcomers. The solitary drinker will find it a pleasant place to while away an hour but be warned it does get very busy with couples and kids during the day at the weekend. Free wifi means you will normally find a few people surfing with their pint.

Dreaming of the return of summer you have a nice drinking deck area out back and a couple of outside tables at the front of the pub if you want to soak up some rays and watch the locals go by.

Upstairs there is another bar inside a large wood panelled "function" room which is usually pretty well occupied. Easycome have been long term stalwarts with quality country acts on a Wednesday night but we are now also being treated to movies, occasional reggae and Northern Soul nights and ping pong tournaments. Also seems to be a popular space to hire out for a private party.

Beer has been turned round in a major way and much hard work has resulted in the well-deserved award of the Cask Mark. There are three cask ales which are regularly rotated and chosen with care so there is always something interesting to try out.
Last weekend we had the Xmas Ale Festival with a nice selection of 10 cask ales and 4 ciders. The Brew Dog Paradox was a bit of a stand out and went a little bit too well with a brownie.

Wine is the one area that I think needs really some more attention as it's a pretty poor selection and we always struggle to find something decent to drink. B usually ends up on the Malbec because there is really nothing worth trying on the white list. It's by far the best of what's available by the glass, but given the choice I will usually just stick to the beer. Come on guys get us some good vino, the pub deserves it.

There is an interesting and evolving menu which has the tiny kitchen in mind. Keep an eye out for the specials on the blackboard as they are usually worth a try; I recently had a top notch coq ou vin and B was very complementary about the ravioli with pumpkin and ricotta. Last weekend I had the fish, chips and mushy peas while sampling a few beers at the Ale Festival and it was spot on with crispy batter and just right chips. Special mention must be made of the brownie; slightly crisp on the outside with a soft, almost oozing centre which delivers an intense chocolate kick ……….

At the weekend there is a good brunch selection and the Sunday roast for a tenner with a choice of chicken, beef or pork served with all the trimmings is very well cooked and presented with a bit of thought.

Although not trying to be a gastro pub The Old Nuns Head is turning out some very tasty food, with well sourced ingredients, at reasonable prices and for that, and a very decent pint, I salute you.

A nice hipstery pub in a sea of old man pubs. Very lovely and artsy, with a cute beer garden too. Highly recommended! The food is pretty amazing and there’s a good selection of beer on offer. Add a few more AF ones please. Also turn down the music a bit please!!! I’m not that old but it’s too loud 😉

I could never say enough about this venue and how amazing the staff are, especially Allie and Steve. They pour so much love and commitment into their customers that every visit feels like you have been to a friend's for laughter and good times, which is not an easy accomplishment in a venue of the size. Chaotic and quirky the decor lends to the atmosphere of being a place for everyone and everyone is most definitely welcome.

Charming Tudor style building and a warm atmosphere inside. We'd been told it was one of the most amazing Sunday roasts ever. To be fair it was good but not outstanding, both for the presentation and the amount of meat in one of the plates that had to be topped up once the manger was made aware (apparently they run out of beef and my friend was given the scraps). The round of roasts coming out after ours looked better presented and richer. Overall it was a nice experience but maybe because of the last minute booking we weren't really given the best table either. I guess we've been unusually unlucky and they deserve another shot.

Local pub. Serves normal pub food but tried nigerian jollof rice there before. It’s a great selection of beers and drinks. There is a small beer garden at the back. Function room upstairs for hiring. But the minimum spend is £4000. Free parking around the pub. Staff are friendly and helpful. You can get a beer and drink in the playground nearby in the summer when the children are around. Baby changing toilet also available.

Nice pub! Good atmosphere, lots of seating, comfortable chairs, outdoor area in the front and back. The roasts are delicious and there are lots of fun events upstairs. Staff are nice and they let me bring in a massive tiramisu on my birthday which was delicious, by the way.

Nice to have a local pub that's still full of character and hasn't been bought out and ruined by a giant chain conglomerate. Staff are fun and super friendly and they'll let you order a combo mixed grill roast on Sundays if you ask nicely. Music is usually good with a lot of fun throwbacks tunes you're never mad to hear and they keep a giant bowl of treats out for the local dogs too. Quality spot.

Allie created the most wonderful and personal wedding day for us. From our first initial contact with her we knew we were in excellent hands and up until the final hour of the wedding evening we were not disappointed! We didn't expect anywhere to meet our expectations for home-cooked, modern and interesting food, but Allie surpassed our expectations. All of the staff were also incredible, and always are whenever we visit the pub. The Old Nun's Head gave us a perfect day, thank you!

Decent pub with some quirkiness to it - I admire the Britney adulation. However person serving me was moody AF...which I didn't expect considering the reputation. Beer and food respectable.

Great queer fun pub in Nunhead, has everything of a classic pub with some added queerness - Britney shrine, queer staff etc. Also has some an amazing mix of events hosted upstairs from Piñata comedy show to Sid’s market ! Can’t recommend this place enough! Plus lots of outside space so perfect for a sunset pint !!

Wonderful, wonderful pub. Came here about 4.30 Saturday afternoon. Beautiful woody Arts and Crafts like interior. Some odd barman has a Britney Spears fetish and there's a little shrine to her behind the bar. Good music on the speakers. A bit hipster, but also the Nunhead Nappy Valley set. Very, very lovely ... it pains me to say on 14th September that there was only one, tepid ale, not very nice :-( I do hope it's a one-off, because last time I think I tried all three & they were nice!
