A lovely Pub situated on The Thames with a great view. While inside you almost feel as if youre on a ship and sailing down river. The classic decor, lots of old woodwork and flooring has changed little over the years although some refurbishing has taken place. Was a regular while working in the Upper Thames area in the early 1970s and it was nice to be back after years.Atmosphere is warm inviting and very informal as at most pubs. Closed on the weekend it caters mostly to office goers. Enjoy your draught Guiness while standing on the balcony overlooking the river or chitchat with the barmen while sitting at the polished bar. Plenty of choice of cocktails and wines buts its better known for its draught Beers.Fish and chips, steak or the sumptous club sandwich are good and filling. Pizzas are interesting and very tasty and a good choice too. The sandwiches used to come at 15 pence !!!! back in 1970 but today a couple of Pounds !!! Nonethe less if on business or strolling in the area drop in for a Pint and some local haddock.
A wonderful restaurant that overlooks the Thames and is opposite The Globe Theatre. It's a shame it's not open at the weekend as it'd be nice to go there after a day out.
Although it's quite expensive (around £5 for starters and £10 for mains), it's a reasonable price for a meal along the Thames.
The Brushetta is a must for a starter for me and I usually order one of the pizza's for the mains as they're large and filling.
Great pub by the water! It’s almost a secret location! I had the nachos which were quite good. Also Grouse and coke.
We absolutely loved this hidden gem. We were walking by the Thames and were looking for a place to have a drink and be able to take seat, and found this wonderful place. It looks small but its quite spacious upstairs and it has amazing views of London. There was no food at that time but great options of drinks and I enjoyed a gorgeous rose from Provence.
Highly recommended!
What a fantastic pub, oozing in history and atmosphere. Amazing location right next to the river with wonderful views, good food, good service ... and shuffle board!
I am a member of the Shepherd Neame birthday club and this entitles you to a free main meal when you purchase a main meal. The voucher is issued around your birthday and is valid for 6 months, so I decided to treat my friend. The person who served me( he had a beard and I think he was the deputy manager) was so welcoming and made us feel right at home. My friend had chicken Caesar salad and I had steak pie and mash. Both dishes were delicious. Wonderful river setting and lovely ambience. Well worth a visit.
A hidden gem with stunning views of the Thames. Excellent fish and chips.
Went on a quiet Monday, played shuffle board most of the night. Staff friendly and drink prices not too bad for the city. Great views of the Thames as well.
Amazing place. The balcony area is amazing. You can have a beer directly on top of river Thames with a magnificent view!
Good food with a quiet balcony overlooking the river.
The food is great. I had the vegan burger and it was the best vegan burger I have had (It was also better than most meat burgers I’ve had). There are a few other vegan options and the staff were helpful with suggestions and vegan alternatives. I’d you’re looking for a bite to eat or just a drink away from the London drone, this is a great place.
Absolutely great find. Free shuffle board and amazing balcony looking over the Thames
Nice late lunch, although they didn't have my 1st menu choice available. Beer was good and they have a nice view of the Thames.
Make sure to check out the balcony upstairs while you’re here - fantastic view of the Thames and skyline.
Feels like a "hidden gem".
Located down a narrow side street Samuel Pepys offers a great pub with fantastic views of the Thames and a good selection of beers and food.
A very nice addition to the Shepherd Neame stable of London pubs. The views from the windows are impressive with the Shard, Millennium Bridge and the Globe theatre in clear view. The food was excellent and the choice of beers was top notch. It is certainly one I would revisit
A delightful, cavernous pub right on the river sporting geed views of many landmarks including the Shard, Globe Theatre and Millennium Bridge. Lovely staff and great beer on keg plus a couple of casks available. Shame about all the building works surrounding the place with scaffolding and various barriers. Inside an oasis of calm and serenity! There is a great little balcony to take in the river views. A good place to drop in and share some time with friends.
A Great Hideaway Pub... Nice Beer Selection... From Shepherd Neame Classics Spitfire Through To Contemporary Brews Like Bear Island & Samuel Adams...
Great Food Selection, From Burgers, Pizza & Light Bites... Awesome Views Of The Shard, The Tate Modern & Surrounding Thames Locations...
Hospitable Team, Lovely Ambience & A Little Balcony For Drinks With Views... Lovely Place To Escape The City Life & Enjoy A Brew Or Two!!! 👍👍👍
We are playing Charlton at The Valley tomorrow! So, back in London again we saw this pub from the Jubilee Bridge whilst strolling Bankside. It's not easy to find but....wowee....it's very impressive. Smart, modern, open and with spectacular views across the Thames and the South Bank, this pub come restaurant is a real jewel. Lovely staff and for once, a pub that has got a good real ale in " Spitfire". And to top that they had our favourite red ...Montepulciano!! And unlike most London pubs, the toilets were very clean and very posh. If anything the food was pretty average and not cheap, but it's typical of what you get in most London pubs....onwards to cheer on Argyle tomorrow....!!! We will be back though, that is for certain...
It's changed around a bit since my last visit nine years ago; I cycled passed the entrance twice because it's now on the Eastern side of the building!
Disappointing selection on handpump, but three of my favourite Shepherd Neame beers available bottles (I already knew this as two of them are clearly visible in one of the website's pictures).
Lunch was a sausage & onion baguette; excellent sausage, perfectly cooked in good quality bread accompanied by a decent portion of salad. And very reasonably priced to boot.
Definitely worth the visit, won't leave it nine years 'till the next one 😁
Love it !!! Beautiful views of the Thames .... Amazing food and great service ... Warm and inviting ! Everything you want in a venue 🙌
