Had been to Matthew's kitchen about two years ago when it opened and just went on the off chance last night for a quick bite to eat.
It was super ,I had smoked haddock on mash with egg and crispy bacon slivers on top and it was to die for .I asked for my sauce on the side and I was delighted I did because the food tasted so good I did not need any sauce.
My husband had the prawn etc linguine and it also was delicious.

We had a brilliant meal here last night. Oysters were sweet, mussels were full of their nutty flavour with lovely creamy sauce and fries cooked to perfection, whilst cod with chorizo was simple but brilliantly executed. We were a bit nervous as brand new restaurant but definitely would recommend now!
Wow food is fantastic .....service warm and friendly .....cocktails are devine. Love this place.

I came here with a group. The décor is very nice and the waitresses are very nice, professional and helpful. I would however suggest that one of the waitresses stop calling everyone darling. I had goat cheese and beetroot salad which is beautifully presented and very tasty. I had a cocktail from the specials board which was amazing, so amazing in fact I can't remember it's name 😉. I had steak and chips for my main which was cooked to my liking and very nice.
Lovely restaurant with a great atmosphere and amazing service. I had the grilled sea bass which got tastier with every mouthful. A great place to take your loved one an evening out. Compliments to the chef and owner!

This time we tried their paella. Fresh seafood rich in taste. Perfect portion for two. Service and Atmosphere were good as always. It’s our local favourite seafood/fish restaurant. Good quality of Prosecco as well served they way it should be : ice cold.our little one devoured the mini fish and chips. 10/10
Of course, I returned. The mixed grill seafood was absolutely delicious. Very well seasoned, I could've eaten more, but that would be greedy. Service is great, and cocktails to end the night...YUM. My new favourite spot
If you like your fish and you're in North London, definitely give this place a try. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food is absolutely amazing. I like my monkfish so have it often in different places. Matthews monkfish is not like anything I've had before. I've never seen it cooked this way before, but it was to die for so moist and tasty I would highly recommend.
Have been here a number of times and have always had a fantastic experience. Food is fantastic, fish is fresh and the service is great. Price is also very reasonable for the quality.
Really lovely atmosphere of the restaurant! Had the Goat cheese and beetroot starter as well as the fish tacos which were amazing! For mains we had the lobster linguine and steak with prawns. The only downside was that the prawns were over done and the steak was a bit too rare.
A nice place to eat. Staff very friendly and always asking if we needed anything. Food was lovely. Nice atmosphere good prices. Would recommend if you want sea food in north London. Kids menu sizes were bigger than expected.
A group of 5, we dined here last night for my husbands birthday. Everything from the decor, service, food and drinks was perfection. We all had different starters and mains, so that meant we were able to taste a little of each others food- we cannot fault any of it. Especially loved the lobster linguine, the croquette starter, ceviche. Absolutely beautiful and we will definitely be returning.

My wife and I came here spontaneously, I’m not a big fan of seafood so always cautious of fish restaurants. I ordered the steak and half lobster and it was incredible. Wife got fish and chips and I always try a little bit of the fish just to see if I like it. Normally I don’t but from here it tasted great.

The food is very impressive. Whetstone is an area with plenty of decent restaurants, but this is a step above in terms of quality. Each course is delicious and served in a very visually appealing way.
The service matches the quality of the food, attentive without being annoying, always friendly, always helpful, and with a smile (even behind a mask - it's in the eyes!).
If you're a fan of seafood, I heartily recommend.
Always satisfied when I visit here, I love seafood and so would happily have anything from the menu, the octopus starter is delicious. I most recently had a scallop & prawn ravioli special which was absolutely divine!! The monkfish main course has to be my favourite, and the cocktails top it all off! The service is always great, can’t wait for my next visit! Thanks to all at Matthews! 😊
Friendly staff, really yummy food. Went for the mussels madness on Tuesday. Desserts were yummy and a generous portion. Definitely would go back again. Have been sharing word of mouth about this local restaurant that everyone must try.
Lovely place and amazing sea food. Good value for money. The 3 gentlemen that served us were very polite and friendly. I would definitely recommend if you’re looking for a nice quiet place to eat some great sea food platters.
