Spent a couple of days in London and came across this superb little cafe. Had breakfast there during our stay and have to say was the nicest porridge ever. Staff friendly and courteous, love the fact they are helping people less fortunate to get back on track. Well done and thank you.

The very first event I went along to as a food blogger was at Food at 52, for the launch of a new curry cooking kit from Tastesmiths. At said event, I met the wonderful Liz O’Keefe, food journalist, chef, recipe developer and self confessed ‘fruit and veg geek’. She runs ‘seasonal dinner parties’ and so when I heard she was doing a mushroom themed supper club for homeless charity Crisis, I couldn’t wait to see what it would all be about. The event was hosted at Cafe from Crisis in Aldgate and we were greeted by Liz who introduced the whopping seven course menu (with drinks!) to us. She actually is talking about the food here, and not doing a rather jazzy dance…

Never had a frittata so good, the stewed beef inside the frittata was tasty and the portion was generous. There’s nothing better than having a chunky meaty pieces of main served with two equally amazing salads - all that for just under £7. Great value for money. Mental note: must come back.

Lovely place, wonderful mission! Award winning coffee shop that works to end homelessness through practical training on hospitality and catering. All their staff are ex-homeless. They serve fresh and socially conscious products, and great coffee! (The oat milk latte is my favourite). Also beautiful decor and great location (just near Spitafields Market).

Lots of variety and a nice, bright space. When I said to the woman who served me that I was easily overwhelmed, she explained the menu and ordering system to me really nicely but without being patronising. The soup portion was a little small (it came with two pieces of nice bread, but I didn't take a photo straight away) and under-seasoned. I didn't get the creamy notes from the celeriac that I was hoping for, and couldn't taste the beetroot at all. However, I'd definitely be back as they had a lot of choice and good service, as well as it being for a very worthy cause!

A bit too pricey for what they offer. Otherwise, it was tasty and clean.

An awesome place. I wasn't expecting much but it was comfortable, clean, helpful and cheery staff, good atmosphere.... And probably most important my cappuccino was very good. Made by someone who knew what they were doing. This is a social enterprise that is run extremely well. Glad to give them my custom!
