Such a nice place to go. I like to have real food with a drink and this pub ticks all the boxes for me. Well worth a visit!

What a lovely addition to New Cross and a treat for Goldsmiths Staff and Students. What a difference to what the pub looked like before. You can tell that a lot has gone in to making the pub a place to chill, laugh, drink and eat. The Salt Beef Bagel was so yummy.

Best pub in New Cross no doubt. Just had the most amazing Sunday Roast there with friends. Music was great. (Blues on a Sunday) Staff are lovely! Drinks were sooo good! A Fat Walrus designed Bloody Mary?! Errr yes! And a great selection on beer and hard liquor. We'll be back!

While never having been to The Fat Walrus myself I have heard nothing but good things. I met the owner Dave today and can safely say that with him at the helm you will not find a more friendly and welcoming pub around SE London. I will be visiting very soon!

Great new bar!! Impressive drinks selection and the food is wonderful (best Salt Beef Bagel this side of the Atlantic). Love the bench seating, and really good atmosphere. ... I'll be returning to sample more of the drinks and food!!! Welcome to Brockley / News Cross!

Really lovely staff and great food. Had a selection of starters and the beef sunday roast. A perfect balance of flavours and beautifully fresh produce. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu.

The food is great - you can see thoughts and creativity were put into it instead of keeping it the same and boring all the time. We loved the arepa. Drinks are decently priced. Recommended.

So lucky to have this place locally to me. Food has always been consistent and service is always great. Staff members are very professional, friendly and efficient. Love the beer garden as well, so good for summer time. Do try out this place, they also have a great drinks menu.

Had the most delicious Sunday roast yesterday. Everything was really well cooked and very tasty but I must say the beef was cooked to perfection. Staff really friendly and welcoming. I look forward to my next trip to the Fat Walrus. Thank you so much!

A good range of local beers, nice food menu, beer garden and variety of spaces to hang out. What’s not to like? Located on the slightly odd one-way triangle as Lewisham Way comes into New Cross (by Goldsmiths Uni), this gastro-pub is in the New Cross / Walpole style. Tables are made with hefty industrial pipe and large varnished plywood tops. Some have comfy benches, while outside is more picnic table in the beer garden. You can sit out front … but it’s on the main road. The staff are friendly and efficient. You can order via the app, at the bar or just by asking a server - having the choice is nice. The beer menu is the kind that was edgy a few years ago but now seems common place. The food menu similarly isn’t that adventurous but has what you want.

We came across an ad (or post on IG or FB) for tacos somewhere so visited this place to see how good they really were. It was pretty empty when we got there with just another family on another table. The beer menu is your standard types (which is mostly good for my taste) so no complaints there. The main star of the show is the El Comelon taco menu. There were a range of classic authentic mexican options. You get 3 to a plate, which is just enough. There is also some other sides like tacos with salsa or guac. We got Al Pastor and fish tacos. The Al pastor I felt were a little too chewy - but did have an amazing taste. The fish tacos, full disclosure, taste like corner fish'n'chips fish wrapped in a tortilla. They did taste good though, so don't feel like you shouldn't get them. Overall recommend.

Such a great pub. Been meaning to try for ages and finally came for dinner. The food was so good, the drinks selection was excellent and the staff really friendly. If this pub was in N London it would have been reviewed by a newspaper critic and have queues out the door. Lucky it's our local!

Great independent local pub with a varied selection of beers and spirits. Food is excellent too, I believe they have a smoker so the menu is completely different to 'ordinary' pub food. Well worth a trip.

The Fat Walrus is the place I visit probably the most often in all of South East London. I've been coming here since it was called The Old Haberdasher. The new owner did an excellent job improving the place, particularly the back garden which is now fantastic all year long. The pinnacle of the place for me though is the food, the burgers are amazing, the coleslaw generous and to die for, chips well made. If you come on Sunday you can have one of the best roasts in London. Even with chef changes over time the quality have been top notch. The staff rotation has also been quite minimal and the new members seem to fit right in. They always are friendly and check up on you during your meal. If I was to ask for any improvements it is to bring back the cakes, go back to the old steak(instead of the chimichurri one) and start offering some of the local beers! :)
