An absolute gem, cosy, friendly and fun. This lovely little gin bar is the perfect place to base an exploration of the culinary wonders of the nearby street food.
Come in here and find a table, don't be afraid to share and make some new friends, in winter the fantastic staff will come with a blanket to keep you toasty while you try some of the excellent cocktails or their own Gin (which is very tasty too). Pay as you go for these (easier than a tab) and feel free to bring food from the market in too. One of the best winter drinks is the hot buttered pineapple gin cocktail, warms you up and tastes amazing.
What's not to like, my favourite gin, good cocktails to choose from. Love coming here even though live 40 miles away it's worth the train journey just to visit here. All staff very friendly and being able to bring in food from the food stalls is great.
This is secret hidden spot! I love every cocktai on their menu, they are reasonably priced and tasty! This bar is part of Maltby Street Market so it has its own vibe but it is perfect at any time of the year! I highly recommend you to try. If there is no place to sit, just order take-away cocktail!
Lovely place to hanging out with besties on weekend when the market is open. Cocktail is good, great atmosphere.
Great little place for people watching on a sunny weekend arvo. You can also bring your food from the food stalls along the market so feel free to eat and drink up here!
So I waited AGES to be served, these guys were flat out! AND YET IT WAS STILL AWESOME. Absolutely lovely people. The owner herself is really nice and I have been there quite a few times now. :) All the staff are really nice. If you are sitting around for table service for a while, go up to the staff by the bar and order. They might have not seen you, and the delicious gin cocktails are worth the wait. Let me say however, that the drinks come out really fast. So once you have ordered, you are pretty much sorted.
Great gin cocktails perfect for a Sat afternoon. London made gin in Peckham and the staff are very friendly and helpful.
Wonderful place to visit at the weekends. Cocktails to impress (with generous measures of their gin). Only slightly overpriced, but in line with other local cocktail bars.
Also in a prime location with other high quality food outlets near by. I would recommend the Negroni, I can attest at 11am on a Saturday, it really wakes you up!
A Maltby Street staple! I'm very glad they have brought back the pineapple based warm gin drink for the winter. If it's chilly, they also have hot water bottles and blankets available. Very friendly and wonderful staff - when they're busy, you might have to flag one down to order a drink. To the management - It would be great if you would open the second floor for seating as it's often full! I suppose it's more of a question if the second floor can be opened to customers for safety reasons?
A wonderful gin served by a wonderful staff. The Residency has an attentive staff and amazing cocktails. One of the best Gin and Tonics in London! The market is great too and the Residency allows you to bring in food from the food stalls at the market. Get the grilled cheese toastie. It pairs perfectly with the Little Bird gin!
Haven't been to Little Bird in Maltby Street for a couple of years. The gin remains epic, as usual, and the atmosphere and service are great. Fabulous to see the bar and indoor seating which I don't think was there last time. Awesome.
They make excellent gin, but above it - creative, wonderful cocktails. Also, if you prefer to sit while enjoying the delicious food from the other stands in the lovely Maltby market, this bar is located right at the center of the street ;)
Great little place. Some lovely cocktails. Try it.
Really nice helpful staff. Blankets available if you get cold. Some interesting drinks.
Rekindled my love of Gin and Gin cocktails.
Grab an 'Early Bird' or one of their many other cocktails and watch busy Maltby St market on a Saturday or Sunday...
When the market is closed this is quite the spot for a romantic moment.
In a London full of specialty an small batch Gins, Little Bird stands out proud IMHO
There's no faulting this place on either service or style, and it seems to be doing well with the current hipster fascination with gin increasing the demand for places such as this... as most people know however, gin more than any other spirit has endured the most turbulent relationship with people since it's inception from being viewed one moment as courage and another as ruin, and ghosts have the attention span of a squirrel on crack, so who knows how long gin bars will remain a profitable industry...
...so I suppose it helps here then, that this place doesn't simply push other people's gins, they make and push their own product, a small batch London distilled gin with a surprising character that cuts through mixers pretty well and is solid to use in cocktails, without being indistinguishably lost in the mix.
Try their Bloody Mary, incredibly punchy with fresh horseradish and strong on the pepper and spice.
They make their own gin.
They serve their own gin.
They allow you to bring in food you have bought in the stalls outside.
In the winter you get a hot water bottle and a blanket.
If you go here more than once they recognise you and know your name.
Need I say more?
Oh yeah, everything is delicious and the staff are Swift and Keane
