“Martinis at 7pm”. How those few words make my heart sing. Especially when the Martinis in question come from Alessandro Palazzi, the head barman at Dukes’, just off St James, and the world’s leading Martini mixologist. Ian Fleming used to be a regular at the bar at Dukes’ and would have enjoyed the seriousness with which Alessandro approaches his art. He mixes me a truffle Martini that layers the tongue with seductive tones of the boscy fungus before delivering a tsunami of alcohol that simultaneously numbs and enervates the brain. Have one, have two, don’t have three or I shan’t be held responsible for your actions …
The restaurant was a little quiet early on, but soon filled out a bit. Now I must say if you're looking for a party atmosphere, Thirty Six is not the place for you, though it is ideal for a relaxed and quiet night and the perfect place for taking the parents.
Tori and I would be sampling the new rustic menu starting with an amuse bouche of apple and celery soup.
The soup was deliciously creamy and the perfect way to warm my cockles from the freezing cold night.
It was accompanied by two fluffy mini loaves which had a beautifully crisp crust. I have to admit that I thought the menu was a little limited as there were only four options for starter and four for main but fortunately for us we saw some of our favourite dishes available.
Tori chose the white crab with avocado and pink grapefruit, a very light fresh and zesty dish. The dish is actually rather reflective of the chef's childhood; Nigel Mendham grew up in Norfolk and spent his summers on the beach clam picking and crabbing and then he would return home to cook with his mother. Nigel has drawn inspiration from background in Norfolk for the dishes on the menu.
It’s so pretty in here! Loved the ambience, the staff was great, and the food was 🔥🔥🔥
Lovely little spot around the Buckingham Palace. I had the seasonal meal of a soufflé soup as a starter and the belly of pork as the main and it was 🤌🏼 best pork I’ve ever had. My family had the burger and they thought it was great.
We were traveling from the US and celebrated my father’s 65th birthday in early June. It was stunning. The foods are amazing, especially their signature tomahawk. Service is fabulous. Thank you for creating such a memorable experience for us.
Excellent choice for the late lunch/ early dinner! Very quiet place with fantastic food and outstanding service! We loved the small portions option and truly enjoyed every dish in this restaurant.
It is an absolute delight for anyone seeking a quintessential British dining experience. From the moment you step inside, the elegant ambiance and warm hospitality make you feel right at home. The menu showcases a delightful array of classic British dishes, executed with finesse and using the finest locally sourced ingredients. The flavors are rich and comforting, with standout dishes like tender roast beef and Yorkshire pudding that leave a lasting impression. With its impeccable service and culinary excellence, this restaurant is a true gem for both locals and tourists alike.
I went in expecting a traditional boozer but this was a pleasant surprise - a classy cocktail bar with a nicely curated selection of drinks and friendly service
A lovely little gem! The cappuccinos are to die for and the staff are really wonderful. Kind and helpful. The brunch was a bit underwhelming. We had the smashed avo on sourdough with poached eggs and sundried tomato. The eggs were hard and the sourdough was small so the whole dish looked a bit overpriced.
Great lamb, very tender.
Fine dining and good service.
It is a different taste of food. At the beginning you will feel it is small and will not be enough for a person like me who eat a lot. But when you start eating and feel the taste you will be full. I usually eat very fast but with this one I went slow.
I tasted all of them 😂. The lamb was so tasty!!!
Elegant and friendly. Pecorino souffle soup is a game changer. Pork belly was delicious. Service was truly excellent and friendly, specially from Ganesh. Certainly deserves a rating of well above 4.5.
Lovely spot in Mayfair where we enjoyed breakfast before heading off to the train station. Kind & courteous service in a beautiful, classic English space.
