Absolutely the best place to go for brunch or when you’re hungover ! The portion sizes are huge so there’s no complaining over there!

There's nothing like a good old fashioned diner. Located in the Spitalfields market amongst the hustle & bustle; nothing but chill vibes, friendly staff & great diner food! I've got such an attentive ear when it comes to music & they had chill-electronic tunes going off in the background which fit the bill perfectly. We were acknowledged & greeted almost immediately after we walked in, the food came out a lot quicker than I expected considering how busy they were. The buttermilk pancakes were amazing! Crispy on the edges, fluffy on the inside & the Hanger Fries are a good way to indulge your sickly cravings! Such a great place to chill & vibe out

Nice place. Decent service. We ordered fries , a veggie burger, a black lemonade and a French toast. Food was decent. Fries were ok , burger was good, lemonade was good and the French toast was ok.

There's something so nice about good ol' fashioned diner food, isn't there? Wings, burgers, shakes - I don't indulge often, but when I do I always enjoy the tastes and flavours on offer. The Diner is quite the fave in our social circle, so when I was approached to do a review and to check out some of the offerings on their new All American Menu, I was delighted to accept the mission.

After trying other burger places in Shoreditch (there is a lot) we thought we would give this chain a try, even thought it's a bit more mainstream than other ones, it did not disappoint! The burgers were really filling ( I had the chicken one) and one bowl of fries is enough for 2 people! The price was very reasonable and the waiter was very helpful too! I would highly recommend this place if you overlooked it because it's a American theme chain.

Hangover time and what should we eat? Some good old fashioned heavy stuff obviously! So off we went to The Diner for our potential medicine. The Diner is set amongst a selection of high street favourite chains such as Gourmet Burger, Las Iguanas and The Real Greek. With only 8 locations so far, is does not class as a chain just yet and it does remain quite individual. I have a choice of three near me, Dalston, Shoreditch and Old Spitalfields.

After roaming for hours on end on a Sunday night when most of the places in London close at 8pm (silly logic) this was the only place that was open, but still closes at 9pm. We ordered the Chicken burger with bacon (forgot the exact name) but the chicken was SOOOO GOOD. we ordered the cheese fires and the garlic butter fries as well, both were amazing. We also ordered the Brandy Alexander, which has 35 ml of cognac with vanilla and chocolate ice cream along with Nutella. I personally didn't like the combination as much as I thought I would - it sounded good but didn't taste too good. Overall, the service was excellent and the staff were open till 9:30 just so we could finish eating.

I'm a little bit obsessed with burgers. Good burgers. So it says a lot that The Diablo burger from The Diner is one of my favourite London burgers. I mean it helps that they'll cook it rare, I always think it's a sign of a good quality meat patty that a place will do that. And this is clearly good quality meat (it's the premium burger on the menu so that is to be expected!). There are so many amazing delicious options at The Diner but this is the one I always seem to go for. My favourite menu items for sure.

Another favourite are the sweet potato fries. I love the sweet potato poutine version, oozing with cheese and smothered in bacon gravy. But a friend introduced me to the garlic version (on the menu as regular fries but can be substituted for sweet potato). Heavenly.

French toast isn't bad either. Not as sweet as I like it but the bread is good and it's nice as a brunch dish.

And the alcoholic teas! There's one with sorbet which is just like a grown up slushy. Amazing.

I think the only dish I haven't completely enjoyed was the Nutella crodough dessert - it was a little on the greasy side.

Oh, and possibly surprisingly, The Diner is not only great for vegetarians but they also do a kick ass vegan taco bowl!

I’ve been to The Diner on several occasions before and I typically have a cheese burger and fries, which I’m usually content with.

On my most recent visit to The Diner (the Spitalfields branch), I decided to order something different – I had a “blue plate special”, namely the buttermilk chicken, with waffles, maple syrup, coleslaw and bacon gravy. My friend ordered the BBQ chicken burger and sweet potato fries.

OK, so I loved the waffles, coleslaw and bacon gravy. But, the buttermilk chicken did not impress me. The portion given was really good and that respect I think you get your money’s worth, but I felt that overall, it lacked flavour; I thought that the batter was a bit too crispy. It’s a shame really because everything else about the dish was on point. This was the second time I had ordered the buttermilk chicken from The Diner and unless they improve or change the recipe (southern fried chicken would be a great alternative) I don’t think I’ll be ordering that particular Blue Plate Special in the future…… on a side note the sweet potato fries were really nice, especially when I dipped it in my bacon gravy!

Our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful: I could not fault the service received at the Spitalfields branch of The Diner. I will visit again, just maybe next time I’ll stick to my usual burger and fries……

Back to our hangover and a need for a Bloody Mary first and foremost, we tackled the simple menu and ordered up some good stuff. I opted for something a little bit different than a normal burger and went for the Diner Hot Dog. A big frank, sandwiched between Swiss cheese, bacon, sour cream, pickles and a sweet bun. The sweet bun gave it a weird taste for my liking, but all of the other ingredients were lush. Valentina went for Californian Burger, which was 6ox of hamburger, served with Monterery Jack cheese, smashed avocado and Diner burger sauce in a sesame bun. For sides, she had cheesy fries and I had garlic butter fries which were stuff made for heart attacks. However, it was sooooo tasty and I wish I could have eaten it all.

My hot dog was £7.50 and her burger was £8.50, so reasonable priced for good portions. The Bloody Mary was just what the doctor ordered, with the right mix of alcohol and tomato juice.

Overall the food was good, it wasn't mind blowing and I know Valentina will stand by Patty & Bun as remaining her best ever burger experience. But, if you are in the area shopping and fancy a burger, we would definitely choose this place over Gourmet Burger.

The Diner is exactly what it says on the tin - an American diner like what you imagine they would be like (and by you I mean an European girl with little exposure to actual American diners apart from what you see on TV).
It is greasy and decadent in huge portions but I don't think it crosses the level of too much as the entire place lends itself to it. You just expect it to be so.
Having said that (and being someone who generally hates greasy or heavy food) the eggs Benedict I had were very tasty and I was very curious about the sweet potato pancakes so I might be coming back soon!

As lovely as the food was it was a tad overpriced compared to other diners and burger places that do pretty much the same stuff. I'd recommended any one of their milkshakes as they were great. Staff were generally friendly. Nicely located within Spitalfields market so it's away from the busy loud roads. Not sure if I'd go again but was still worth the try

This restaurant is nice, the staff were really friendly. I ordered an Oreo milkshake which was delicious but it would of been nice if it was bigger. I've paid £4.50 for milkshakes in other places where they are generous enough and filled the whole cup. The pancakes were nice but there wasn't enough maple syrup, even though they gave me more for free. It came in small portions. I would go here again but I would probably try something different than what I had chosen today.

Close by so frequent this place. It's a typical American diner feel. The mushroom Swiss cheese burgers are an absolute delight, and have to be paired with none other than cheesy fries. The service is quick and efficient. Overall, great easy food and ensures you to go home with a satisfied (and slightly bloated) feeling!

The atmosphere and music is Classic American diner, which the children and I enjoyed. Colouring in menus and crayons provided when you are seated, so little ones have something to occupy them while waiting for their food.
Despite there being a queue, the wait wasn't terribly long to be seated either.
Portion sizes are definitely 'American' (aka generous) and the food was excellent.
My only complaint would be when asked how I wanted my burger cooked I requested medium rare, what I got was definitely dry and well done and I couldn't eat more than a quarter of it.
That aside, the spicy salad dressing, perfectly cooked sweet potato fries and generous creamy Mac and cheese meant I was not left hungry. The children's menu is well priced and portioned.

I stopped by this place one Saturday morning with a couple of friends and was very satisfied with it. I found this spacious American-style cafe that offers authentic American cuisine very laid back. I ordered a 'Diner Dog' whilst my friends had 'Original Burgers' as well as 'Blueberry Pancakes' from the all-day breakfast menu, which were all quite delicious. I really enjoyed spending my Saturday morning at that place, whilst sitting in one of the red booths surrounded by neon lights, so I would recommend anyone who is in the mood for some American food to come here.

REVIEWED AS PART OF THE WORLD CUP OF BREAKFASTS:
The US of A – Where everything is bigger, better, faster and longer. That motto probably applies to American food as much as anything in culture of the country. And it seems to apply to the breakfast menu at The Diner too. There all-day breakfast menu is sizeable, with all the classic brunch menu items as well as (what sounded like) an extremely large fry-up. What do you mean ‘sounded like’ I here you cry?! Normally ‘The Hungry man’ breakfast would be my go-to dish, but the World Cup Challenge is about the traditional breakfasts of the participating nations and this is really just a full English in an American Diner. There are more traditional items in the list though, I almost went for the biscuits and gravy which originates from the southern states but decided in the end to go for the dish that screams the over-the-top food culture many in Britain think of the US diet: Steak and eggs.

We arrived at about 8pm on a Tuesday evening (what else is an all-day breakfast menu for!) and were surprised to find the place completely full. We waited at the bar and got seated at a booth within about 10 minutes. The décor is everything you expect of an All-American diner, with neon signs and booth-style seating.

Steak and eggs: The lavishness of steak for breakfast (even if it was in the evening) feels like a real glutinous luxury, but what do you actually get? Well, it’s a flank steak served with roasted tomatoes, smoky onions and 2 ‘overeasy’ eggs. The waitress made it clear that the best way to have this cut of steak was medium and that proved to be sound advice. Flank is a cut with lots of flavour and a bit of bite, it was nicely cooked and was complimented by a chutney-like serving of onions, very sweet and sticky. The tomatoes were sun-blushed and full of flavour. The eggs however, were a bit of a let-down. For a start, they weren’t ‘overeasy’ they were sunnyside up, that is fine by me, but why specify it on the menu and then not cook them like that?! They were also slightly overcooked – no running yolk for me.

If there is one thing longer than the breakfast menu here it is definitely the craft beer list. The craft beer revolution has taken the US by storm over the past 5 years and the Diner seems to have embraced it too with over 20 (mainly American) bottled beers and 5 on tap. I chose the Dogfish Head DNA (an Anglo-US collaboration) which was a dark American style IPA with a slightly nutty flavour.

For us, going to The Diner is like visiting a good friend. This seventh site in Spitalfields Market is subtlety different. It’s almost as if this good friend has had a year out, gone travelling, found itself and come back with a long list of craft beers and a clever cocktail menu.

The decor is in their typical Diner style that we know and love, in keeping with their other branches but slicker and more shiny. They haven’t shied away from their own unique look in favour of the industrial feel, that to be honest is getting a little predictable. There are still enough recognisable touches to make you feel at home, the neon, the booth seating, the fantastic choice of burgers and blue plate dishes and of course the warm and inviting staff. Saff was delighted to find they’ve ditched the almost illegible scripty font from the menu.

In a city overcrowded with burger joints, this one was not a disappointment. Surprisingly fresh and we did not feel full with everything we ordered. Thick juicy burgers, simple menu, good drinks and lovely staff.

We've visited this place two times, once for breakfast and one for dinner. For breakfast we had the hash and the lumber jack platter, with flat white and Berry ice tea. The hash was below expectations but the full breakfast was really good. The ice tea tasted nothing like ice tea, instead a berry lemonade. The coffee was decent enough to enjoy. Now the dinner, buffalo wings, fries and burger with two kids meal. The wings were good, the burger was one of the best we had in a while and the reason we came back. Kids meals were yummy as per the kids, one burger and one chicken tenders.

I visited The Diner yesterday in Spitalfields, we was presented with a table quickly and with haste began to order. I ordered the Big breakfast as was pleasantly surprised with the great taste from the potato bites. We additionally ordered the crinkle chips, sweet potato fries, cheesy chips and the Vegan steak, all round everyone was impressed with the portion sizes and quality of the food!

We came here for breakfast as so many reviews were raving about their Vegan Breakfast. They don't have a vegan breakfast on their menu though and when I asked, it appears they never have, weird, where are all these people getting their vegan breakfasts from?! However, they were happy to swap out the eggs for avocado on the Veggie breakfast and the food was tasty enough. My husband had the Huevos Rancheros which he said was pretty awesome. The bottomless filter coffee at £3 .... well, we never got offered a refill and to be honest, we never asked for one as it wasn't great coffee. Nice atmosphere in there with some cool wall decor too.

I am reading mixed reviews so I’m going to talk about my experience. I’ve been there 4 times already. For lunch or dinner (never had brunch). The service could have been better (most staff seem tired so I feel for them). Food wise I had a lovely experience every time. I do love their burgers and fries. As for the prices; I’d say they’re pretty normal for London and specifically for the city of London.

Food Quality ⭑ ⭑ ⭑ ⭑ Service ⭑ ⭑ ⭑ ⭑ ⭑ Ambience ⭑ ⭑ ⭑ ⭑ Price ⭑ ⭑ ⭑ ⭑ Went for a brunch after walking around the market. We were instantly seated and given menus. Staff was friendly and chill. Our host was smiling and positive. We had massive plates full of pancakes and bacon. Pancakes were pretty good! Big and fluffy but also very heavy (the have been sitting in my stomach for more than 4 hours no matter how much I walked). Another thing I hate is the orange juice with ice.. I just like it as natural as it gets. The restaurant is nice and has nice booths that set a nice mood for small groups. Prices are very reasonable for the amount and the quality. Overall a 4.5 stars and I would surely come back maybe to try what the evening looks like here!

Great food. Great atmosphere. Great service. I had a nice experience here at the diner, i work nearby so my colleagues and I decided to walk through Spitalfields market where there’s thousands of choices to pick from and this place definitely stands out as a top pick in Spitalfields market. My family have been eating at the diner since pre apocalyptic times and was really disappointed when the diner in Dalston closed, finding this place made me happy lol. I recommend coming here and trying it out, especially the chicken burger 🤤

The diner made lunch easy for me being an avid meat eater and my partner being vegan. She was impressed she got an entire separate vegan menu. Before of us opted for chicken/ seitan with waffles and wow the portion was amazing for 12 pound each. The flavour matched especially the vanilla waffle. We will definitely be visiting again but with empty stomach next time to ensure we can eat the massive portion sizes.

Great food, good service, the only downside is the eggs needed more frying than just warming up. Pancakes are the fluffiest ever had.

I had the all day veggie breakfast - pretty standard. Would probably get the same in Weatherspoons for half of the price. I guess you pay for location here though. I would rate it three stars for food, but the service was good and they provided substitutes for things that were not in stock. Our waitress was lovely and she boosted this review to four stars 😊

Very nice and spacious place, tasty burgers with decent price, burger was a bit out off temperature but was nice, very professional service by Liz and her beautiful smile. Fries portion is quite big 😁and of course nice music in the background. It’s not luxurious place but sitting space is very comfortable 👍and you feel like you’re in American diner style place 🙂

Great diner with lots of booths. Always busy but also always able to get a table. This branch also has an extensive veggie and vegan menu. The atmosphere is great but the music is never too loud. It's a great and reasonably priced option to hang out with friends and for dates. The shakes are also amazing! I come here fairly regularly and will continue to do so!
