We arrived at Soho Grind in Beak Street for a nightcap - one of several new sites from the Shoreditch Grind "Grind & Co" coffee bar team (see also Piccadilly Grind & brand new Holborn Grind). They have just reopened their evening basement bar after sorting out some permanent licensing, something I'm all too aware of after two failed attempts to visit before!

It was worth the wait - a classic Soho bar / refuge akin to the Flat Iron basement bar and Society Club down the road. Tiny, relaxed, fun, arty, and good-looking - the only slight downside is having to order food to be allowed to drink, but a plate of cured meats slipped down easily enough. Bartenders and customers were in good spirits, enjoying the eclectic soundtrack whilst trying not to stare at the erotica on the walls.

Cocktails are well priced as they are at Shoreditch Grind. Chris couldn't resist the Flat White Russian - not our waitress, but a boozy coffee cocktail served hot with Soho Grind Espresso, Chase Vodka, Coffee Liqueur and Milk. Meanwhile I had my eyes on a Short Mexican (stop it) with El Jimador Reposado, Cayenne, and Cracked Coffee Beans which was interesting but didn't quite come together. Natalie unsurprisingly went for Gin-Out The Jams - a very drinkable concoction of Gin, Vermouth, Sugar, and Rhubarb & Ginger Jam.

Of course, most won't look past the Soho Grind Espresso Martini, and who can blame them?

It's another hit for the fast expanding Grind & Co. group. Upstairs is a funky-looking daytime coffee hangout, but you'll find me downstairs with the Mexicans and the Russians.

Good Coffee | Compact Location | OK Service | Recommended —- Detailed Review Below — Grind is a small coffee shop in the SOHO area in Central London, serving a small selection of espresso based drinks. I ordered a flat white to go and enjoyed the drink, although the milk could have been prepared better. Verdict: Recommended Food/ Quality - 4/5 Location/ Ambiance - 3/5 Price (Value for Money) - 4/5 Service - 4/5 Other (Central and accessible) - 5/5

Had a coffee at Grind in Carnaby the other day, only to learn that they have a hidden cocktail bar! As a fan of drinking from bars all over the world, the bartender was a pro, looked like he really understand the making of a good cocktail. The Espresso Martini I had was amazingly creamy on top and beautiful. My friend had a Pina Colada which he said was sweet, creamy and refreshing. Ended the night with a Woodford Old Fashioned which was was very orangey aromatic and smooth. Recommended for any cocktail enthusiasts to try! However, the spacing is a bit tight and not well ventilated - not that bad but too cramped. Coffee and cocktails are good though.

I have to say, the coffee I had in Grind was absolutely top-notch! And let me tell you, Jammy, the coffee magician, really knows how to work that brew. Highly recommend this place for a delightful sip of that liquid magic!

This is a nice coffee shop. I regularly have Grind coffee pods when I’m working, so it was nice to actually be able to go to one of their coffee shops, which I didn’t know existed until recently! The coffee was good, I think it was a dark blend. The coffee shop is nicely decorated and the staff are courteous. They also have a range of coffee pods and things like that which you can buy. The shop is a little small, so I’d recommend taking away. The prices are also not bad.

Had a super yummy hot chocolate here, the staff was very helpful but the only thing I’d point out is the limited seating upstairs by the window. Other than that I also loved the interior of the café.

I have to say that this is one of the best coffee shops that I visited during my recent trip to London. To start off, I absolutely love the décor with the various neon signs that are super Instagrammable. There is also ample seating at Grind as well; they have two floors on which you can find a lot of seating. In terms of the menu, I highly recommend their mocha and their chocolate cinnamon roll. Being an avid fan of mochas, I appreciated how rich and decedent their mocha was. This is a super fun coffee shop to get your caffeine fix in before work, catch up with some friends, or get some work done. They also serve alcoholic beverages in the evenings, but I was not able to give those a try. Once again, I highly recommend Grind.

One of the most seminal finds of my London existence, any day would not be completed without the caffeined boost experienced not only by the exceptional coffee but also my joyous daily interactions with Lydia, Fabio, Dorothea and Ori. The vibe and atmosphere such a refreshment, much needed break from works enduring hustle and bustle. A true refuge and pick-me-up. The coffee truly the best to be found in London, particularly crucial if your standards of coffee are as discerning as mine. Also very well located in the heart of Soho. A must visit in any itinerary through London. You will love the staff, their efficiency, kindness, and skill for latte art and the best brewed shot

As an Aussie travelling the UK, good coffee is hard to find. No offence but… I mean, I’m a frequent visitor to Melbourne, so who can compare? I’ll tell you who… Grind. Sadly I was here in the morning before cocktails were on offer, but the latte I had here was the best I’ve had in the UK and competes with the best of Melbourne. So if you’re an Aussie missing home, come here and have a latte. You won’t be disappointed.
