Really enjoyed the food here - it definitely deserves its excellent rating! My son had the steamed ribs and glutinous (sticky) rice, I had the beef with cumin and my fiancee had the chicken and peanuts, plus we had wonton in red chilli oil. All delicious - will gladly come back again!

We were both starving and went with high expectations - and I am glad to say we were not disappointed! We were quickly seated in the spacious, modernly appointed restaurant and provided with a menu worthy of a place in an art gallery. It was filled with copious pages full of stunning photos, showcasing almost every dish they served. I am usually against photos of food in menus, but this proved to be a more than surprising exception. Well, as I

Yipin China is all about the food.  Moments from the amenity-hub of Islington, exists a firecracker of a restaurant which specialises in the cuisine of the Hunan province of southern China. At a glance, it has the air of one of those forgettable, nondescript Chinese restaurants that are just there to make up the numbers.  But nothing could be further from the truth.   Spiced fungus £4.90 In a setting that barely teeters on the right side of clinical, a skeleton-staff of Chinese waiters are on deck to simply take your order in a polite manner, and let you get on with it.  Perfect.  Of course it doesn’t hurt that it’s local, well priced and utterly delicious.  Which is why you’ll often find me in here, wiping the sweat off my forehead and the back of my neck, as my mouth refuses to crack under the duress of chillies.   Man&wife offal slices £7.90   Hunanese cooking will test your metal.  “Man & wife” offal slices – a cold pile of beef, offal and tongue in no particular order, intersperse

I first heard about Yipin China here , and then I kept noticing it as I walked from Angel Station up Liverpool Road to my fave Pizza Pub, which is where we were going to when a last second change of plan saw us opening the door to this wonderful Chinese restaurant. This used to be an Italian restaurant, although I never ate there or rarely noticed it, but you can feel it left something behind in the two large dining rooms. I have to say that Yipin China has the best menu in London, they are really good, nice photos and paper, feels nice to the touch. I do like it when people make an effort to produce really quality menus. This is probably why the prices are so high here, as we are paying for these bloody good menus. Yipin China not only serves good Hunanese cuisine, but also has some Sichuan and Cantonese dishes gracing its pages as well. Makes sense really, as the latter two are on there as people are very well conversed in Cantonese and have heard of Sichuan food and therefore will t

Wow. Tucked away just near Upper Street is an amazing Hunanese-Chinese restaurant. With a mixture of western favourites and more authentic food, generous portions, reasonable prices and friendly service it's not to be missed. For most people one portion of the egg fried rice will cheerfully serve two. Do yourself a favour and order at least one item from the Hunanese section of the menu. Whether you are going for authentic or not - don't miss it!

Nice and vibrant flavors! 😋 The staff were friendly and the place was clean, if you are around the area and want something spicy 🌶️ definitely come here. For 3 people we ordered 4 dishes + rice and it was filling 😌.

I was recommended Yippin through word of mouth and was not left disappointed. Every dish was bursting with flavour, with no overwhelming spiciness. If you're new to mainland Chinese cuisine you're sure to discover some new and exciting tastes. Perfect for group meals so you can order for variety and share. They also have private rooms for group bookings. Staff were friendly and the pricing very reasonable.

Yipin by name yipin by nature. Yipin means top quality in Chinese and the food was definitely that. Classic tastes of Hunan and Sichuan provinces. Lots of deep flavours with plenty of chillies and Sichuan peppers to give that mala (numbing spice) feeling. The staff are friendly and respectful and the space is clean. Tables are not placed too close to one another and we never felt rushed.

Had a casual lunch and really enjoyed the food. Don't be put off by the lack of décor! Everything was really well executed and had a note of quality about it. Lot's of regional options as well as the classics. I'd definitely go again. Service was warm and friendly.

We love this place. The food is great and there's a huge variety of dishes with plenty of spicy sechuan options. The greens are fresh, the meat is seasoned well and the flavours are delicious. The staff are so nice and friendly and even let us stay late in the private room we hired because we were having such a good time. The venue is great and the atmosphere is relaxed and cosy. We keep coming back 😊

The food at Yipin is of very high standard. They have a substantial menu that has a lot the different styles of Chinese cooking and all the ones I've tried are very flavourful. I'm a big fan of spicy food and they were able to accommodate me. I ordered fish dishes, chicken and beef and each time the food has been really good. My favourite dish so far was the sea bass which really hit the spot. Trying to decide what to have takes me some time. The atmosphere is welcoming and the staff are professional. The aroma of great food fill I find this a good place to have lunch or an evening meal as I've had both here and wasn't disappointed. I can't recommend the food here enough and they do take away food as well which is a welcome bonus.

A brilliant and authentic Sichuan and Northern Chinese restaurant in Angel, Islington. A short walk from the station or the N1 centre, this absolute local gem is unassuming from the outside. Don't be fooled, this restaurant houses some of the best Sichuan cuisine in London. Go for the lamb skewers, cold dish of mouth watering chicken and the green beans!

Charming down to earth restaurant serving absolutely stunning food on one of the back streets of Islington. The flavours were delicate and brought together beautifully by the chef. The soft shell crab were freshly fried with with fresh crunchy sauted peppers. The Hunanese fish steamed with marinated red chillies was fiery with fish done perfectly in a moreish way. The Cantonese tofu seafood hotpot was very comforting, perfect for the last October day of the year. They were really nice and went out of their way to accomodate our gluten allergy which is usually a good sign. Can't wait to go back.

What a great authentic tasting Chinese restaurant from the more Western region of China (Spicy). Great selection of dishes at a very reasonable price. A great find. I Will definately be back.

Certainly one of or if not the best Chinese restaurant in North London. Great selection of Hunan and Sichuan classics with great heat levels to match. Yipin China is well worth travelling across town for. Very very highly recommend.

Nice restaurant. Haven been to this place for about 7-8 months, never let me down. Very authentic taste, dishes looks small when they serve. But actually is more than enough for 2 pax. Recommend to reserve a table in advance, as it will be busy in the eveining/weekend.
