Haven't found a decent place in London that pulls off the classic Chinese hotpot until now. Just had dinner there with my partner and we're totally stuffed on £30 worth of delicious and fresh food. Would highly recommend it as the service is excellent and the food is of high quality and very reasonably priced for central London. Definitely going back there!
Such a wonderful experience eating here! Just on the outer rim of China Town and the heart of all the theatres you can find this absolutely magnificent restaurant whixh after 3 visits has not disappointed us. Having seen them through on and off peak periods over the last week it's clear that the staff are all dedicated to the venue and do their upmost to provide top quality service.
The idea alone is eye catching enough, choose your own ingredients from a train, broth from the menu and dips (the chef just recently created a new one and it is divine) and in minutes you have your own unique and personal dish. The staff are always at hand to provide advice on flavours and to those inexperienced with chop sticks and the equipment provided, they will offer alternatives (usually before you even have the confidence to ask!)
I can not recommend this venue enough, amazing flavours combined with world class service means you are set for an amazing pre show dinner, a gorgeous lunch or post shopping feast.
This place has found itself a feature in my holiday, don't forget to make it one of yours!
Amazing place, great concept, very tasty and great selection of food on offer! It was so good that I hated myself when I receive the bill, which was rather pricey!
It is great fun! You creat your own hot pot from a choice of three stocks. It's a great way to try ingredients that you haven't eaten before or, stick to your own theme. Lots to choose from so, the choice is yours. Our teenage and our two year old grandchildren thoroughly enjoyed it too!!
Friendly efficient staff ! Great dining experience!! Highly recommend..
อาหารอร่อยมากค่ะ ร้านน่านั่ง สะอาด ชอบมากๆค่ะ
The staff were attentive and polite... Hot Pot with a variety of broth, noodles, vegetables, herbs, fungi, poultry, beef, pork, seafoods, balls, tofu, dipping sauces to choose from that goes round & round... Even with the face to face & side by side seating with total strangers - my friend & I were able to Eat & Catch up... Truly Enjoyable!
First experience of hotpot and we'll definitely be back. The staff were so helpful for us beginners and the food was great! Can't wait to go back and try some of the dishes we didn't get round to!
Great food and great service! A lot of variety of ingredients for your hotpot. Perfect for a small group!
This place is my life every time I go to London, this is always the go to!
Went today with my brother to try it out was pretty satisfied. Quite a good range of food and soup broths. Good prices too for the dishes. I love that it's done like the sushi convery belts. Just pick what you like and charge you according to the plate colours! The service was quick and easy too. They made sure to ask about any allergies and helped explained what you need to do if it's the first time. Will be back again in the future!❤

My daughter and I visited shuang shuang on a girls night out and had a blast. You can go at your own pace, try different foods, relax and enjoy your company. Definitely not a place for groups though.
I love this place! Have been four times and I will be back in the future! Staff are very friendly and always happy to help. A++
Great food Good location. Great staff Good service.
Absolutely love this place for a good hotpot. Have been here many times. The hotpot tastes amazing. The options of ingredients for the hotpot is great.
If you've ever been lucky enough to spend your evening using little wire fishing nets to scoop beef balls and sliced spam out of a vat of boiling animal stock, you'll know that the Chinese Steamboat, or Hot Pot, is one of the most enjoyable ways of having dinner. But the amount of preparation required, not to mention the large amount of specific kit you need, means it's generally impractical to really make the most of with even two people, never mind the solo diner, and most hot pot joints in London (for example the rather good Little Lamb) are geared towards tables of four upwards. You order what you hope is enough food - huge plates of curled wafer-thin beef, neat rows of raw prawns, as much tofu as you can carry - and dump it all in the broth. Then generally lose a few bits for a half hour and come across a manky overcooked bit of grey matter just as you're ready to pack up and go home. It's all part of the fun.
Despite being Chinese I’m not a big fan of hotpot but Shuang Shuang’s novel concept of giving each diner their “personal” hotpot, which opened earlier on in the year, caught my interest. That interest was also partly to do with its location, at the corner of Chinatown, because Chinatown never has a “novel” restaurant – Chinese don’t do novel!
I have been here with my family twice now and it they never disappoint. they have a deal for £9.30, where you get 3 green dishes and one noodles. Fresh ingredients and always great soup bases! Recommend this place highly!!
The hotpot is a beautiful thing. Sometimes refer to as the Chinese version of fondue, it is a form of eating whereby diners take raw ingredients which they cook in a communal broth right at the table. As far as dining experiences go, you’ll be hard pressed to find something more sociable and interactive and it is for this reason that I have such fond memories of ones from my childhood.

So when I found out Shuang Shuang had opened it's doors to the public, I was rather excited. Located at the very heart of London in it's iconic Chinatown, it is taking the traditional hotpot to the next level by upgrading every element of it - banging broth, wicked sauces and quality ingredients.
The meal starts with the broth selection of which there are 4, each good enough to be a soup. This is followed by a selection of sauces before you are set free on the conveyor belt of glorious plates (prices from £1 - £5) to start cooking; and start you will.
For those with a lack of self control (like me), you will be tempted to grab everything in sight because everything looks so good. But from experience, exercise self-restraint and let the conveyor belt do a loop brother you begin - don't worry, you'll get what you want and if you don't see it, the staff will find it. Highlight plates for me were the Japanese marbled beef and the salmon which were both incredible. Pair these with some noodles and veges and you've got yourself a rather lovely meal.
However, I do caution that with any meal like this, there is the risk that the bill will ramp up if you're not careful and for a single person who wants to try everything, the experience could prove pricey. But come in a group and you'll find it to be just fine and truth be told, hot pot is meant to be shared anyway otherwise you're missing the point.

I was originally set against the idea of going to Shuang Shuang – an innovative Chinese hotpot restaurant in Chinatown – due to hearing complaints about the high prices. As ever though it takes more than a hefty price tag and my own reluctance to stop Fen getting what she wants, so down we went last Saturday.
Every now and then, my Instagram and Twitter feeds suddenly fill up with variations of the same photo from the newest restaurant to hit the London food scene. Recently its been Chinese hot pots at newcomer Shuang Shuang in Chinatown. On a cold and windy Wednesday night last week, it shone out into the darkness like a bright shining beacon as my friend Tanya and I swapped the hustle and bustle of Shaftesbury Avenue, for the hustle and bustle of Shuang Shuang. It feels like one big open kitchen, brightly lit and filled with lots of chatter, with a Yo-Sushi style conveyor belt ferrying all the ingredients you need to cook your very own hot pot. Oh yeah, I should mention, its DIY Chinese hot pot.

There’s not much going on in London for the hot pot scene. Whilst many hot pot steamboat places offer unlimited buffet style menus like Little Lamb nearby. The newly opened Shuang Shuang in Chinatown at Little Wu old spot brings a Conveyor belt Yo! Sushi style plate pricing system. Hot pot is a common thing in China, my family tradition is to have hot pot on New Year’s day for a family gathering. The living steams up and the windows covers up with clouds of condensation. We usually go to See Woo and Loon Fung stocking up on fresh Asian vegetables, different assorted fish balls, thin slices of meat, and other things.
Shuang Shuang, the new Chinese Hot Pot restaurant in Chinatown, finally has the answers to all my problems. Here, the fresh ingredients come in small portions on conveyor belts like sushi bar instead of piling altogether on a large platter. No more having to feel awkward that raw meats and fish mixing with raw vegetables can be seen as unhygienic by some, even though they are all going to be cooked in constantly boiling water. Tick! Each person has their own little pot where one can choose one’s own soup broth, so not a problem when someone does not want to share food from a communal pot. Tick! The kitchen is completely open and visible for all diners to see, so we can be sure that the raw ingredients served are not scraps from other tables. Tick! There is even a cooking instruction for meat, fish and meatballs so that Hot Pot virgins know how long they should cook these ingredients in boiling soup water before eating so they do not give themselves food poisoning. Tick! The interior décor is minimalist, which helps to reinforce the emphasis on cleanliness by creating a bright, clean and airy space. I seriously wonder why has it taken so long for someone to think of opening a Hot Pot restaurant like Shuang Shuang? It is such an innovative way of introducing this much loved Chinese comfort food to international crowds. I went to this restaurant with my English friend yesterday for lunch and she really enjoyed the whole experience, albeit being a Hot Pot virgin. I had the extra spicy Schezuan pepper soup called Mala soup on the menu and my friend had Black Bird soup which was the traditional Chinese black chicken soup broth. Then we just picked any ingredients we fancied from the conveyor belt. Pricewise, it is very kind to the wallet too because the restaurant offers ‘The Market Menu’ for an average diner for less than £15 per person. In my case of having severe Hot Pot craving, I ended up spending £19 for the whole meal and felt so full that I had to skip dinner that day. Needless to say that I will definitely be coming here again for more Hot Pot adventures this winter. Finally, I found a place where I can bring anyone to have Chinese hot pot with me!
Shuang Shuang is a hot pot restaurant with a difference; it’s a DIY hot pot restaurant. The set up, which could be quite confusing/overwhelming is actually rather simple – you choose your broth, choose your dipping sauces and then help yourself to items from the Yo Sushi-style conveyor belt to cook in the broth.
Hot pot, or for those of you who hail from Malaysia/South East Asia like myself, who better know it as 'steamboat', refers to a simmering pot metal pot of soup/stock, into which ingredients are then cooked in it at the table. Those of you who have grown up enjoying this during family gatherings will understand the simply pleasures of this concept of sharing food from the same communal pot.
Great experience for newbie hotpotters. The restaurant can he found upstairs to what can be described as quite a clinical environment. The broths where very tasty, as long as you can hold your spice, I would highly recommend the mala.
A bit quit on high price side. Quality is ok. Buffet is good. (Depend on promotion). Every kind of dish suppose to available all the time. Put every dish on the belt equally.
Great hotpot recommend the mala soup it's super spot and numbing. Pretty good value, ate until exploded and spent about 30.
Ramen bar tucked upstairs has a quick, simple menu that's a little on the pricey side (£11-£13 per bowl) but worth the money. It's usually quiet too, which is a huge bonus.
A nice little hot pot restaurant in Chinatown. Those who like extra spicy in their soup should visit here at least once . The quantity of the meat and prawns are less (but it’s not over priced)
Friendly staff and the conveyor belt is regularly filled with vegetables by a friendly staff. Should have two more variety of bases as they currently have less than 5
Overall experience is good and the Flavours are nice .
Will recommend this place
I think this place deserves at least 4 stars. The food is very reasonably priced. It was fun to watch the plates going around the restaurant
Really enjoyed all you can eat for hotpot. 27.50 per person which is reasonable price for all you can eat option. staffs are impressively kind( I read some reviews which informed staff is rude previously).
could have been 5stars but it was a bit shame there is no available lamb apart from paying extra money on it. I went to here with my boyfriend who has got massive portion so I didn't feel wasting money. But if you go alone and your portion is not big enough, then I would recommend just have hotpot as it is not as all you can eat option.
Tom Yum is really good. Mala is a bit too spicy. Carefull if You are not used to very spicy
Wicked food. Small place. Great for a quick hour meal. Side by side with mates. Not great for large groups. Food was wicked, did I mention that?
So many Variety food here, and you can customize your Hot-pot as well, soup and hoot pot food very fresh, and ice herbal tea can let you feel more tasty on trying food, good restaurant!
很道地的小火鍋!旋轉菜盤很特別!東西好吃、茶好喝!
Such an exciting eating experience. Staff were friendly and informative too.
£15 a head and you will not be disappointed (or left hungry)!
Really enjoyed the all you can eat hotpot here. Here for lunch on a Monday, most other diners are on their own or in pairs, fairly quiet so it was not crowded at all. Service is attentive and the place is clean. For the all you can eat, the two most expensive types of plates are not covered, which basically excludes seafood, but there were plenty of choices for vegetables, meat, and fish balls of different. I know that people don't necessarily think of hot pot as a vegetarian food, but with the variety of tofu and vegetables here I think vegetarians would be very happy! So was I to see the variety of traditional vegetables on offer!
I got taken here on recommendation and actually quite enjoyed myself.
The food was tasty and seemed really fairly priced, with prices in an easy four tiers and plates clearly identifiable. I wouldn't say it was special, but you won't be disappointed by it.
The space itself was quite nice and quite well insulated for sound against the busy Shaftesbury Avenue outside.
We didn't have a wait to be seated of a weekday lunch and staff were really polite and helpful.
I'd definitely visit again
The food and the concept are good - it's a really fun experience to go assemble your own meal from the conveyor belt. Nice range of dishes and the broths are really tasty. Marks down for service though, that could definitely be improved.
