Absolutely divine!!!!! The best Japanese restaurant in Europe. The food is out of this world, the service is intimate, the ambience elegant, and Ken Ikeda is a thoughtful and kind human being! This is my favorite place to dine in London!!!! A do NOT miss experience!!!! Thank you Ken.
As always - excellent food, excellent drink, excellent service, excellent ambiance. Ikeda restaurant - excellence at its finest!
Very good service and real Japanese cuisine
Thank you Chef Mamasu and Ken (restaurant manager) for treating me with elegance and respect. The dishes are scrumptious ! I had a great time and meet Japanese people who love it too !
Great food and great service...the food quality really up to standard...
Absolument délicieux, excellent resto japonais
Authentic, delicious Japanese cuisine delivered by the wonderful Ikeda family! Ikeda cannot be faulted - excellent in every way and on every visit.
Came here for payday lunch đŁđŁđŁ Had been wanting to come here for yearssssss đ Sashimi is sooooooo freshđđ Almost thought I was in Japan đ±

When I am craving traditional style nigiri in London, this is one place I love to come. The selection on offer is impressive, the sushi is really well made and the fish is as fresh as can be. They actually use the same suppliers as The Araki!
My visits to date have solely been to get my sushi fix, so I am yet to try their selection of hot and cold dishes. However, the menu looks great and carries many of my Japanese favourites, as well as an ever-changing collection of interesting seasonal plates (I saw seared kama toro on offer this week!).
Decor is minimal and there is no background music - but I put this down to Japanese minimalism as opposed to dining in a boring setting. My one wish is an open sushi counter to watch the chefs at work, as presently only kitchen dishes are plated in front of the diners.

I have been looking for good Japanese food in London since I moved here. I had found some places I liked, such as Yashin (though they donât allow soy as they believe their food doesnât need it), and Dinings, but they both serve Japanese food with a twist. I prefer traditional, no frills Japanese where they focus on quality of fish as opposed to ambiance or making innovative and fancy sushi. After two years, Ikeda filled the void!

There were 5 of us, so I did not try everything in the retrospective sets, but the otoro (fatty tuna) was so good we ordered 3 more so everyone could try one each! The sliced octopus was also a pleasant surprise, with the added lemon it gave a very refreshing feel.
A good place to get a decent assortment of sashimi, and the highly rated otoro and chutoro cuts always seem fresh. The mains are a bit hit and miss, though. The beef fillet is delicious but the pork belly was a massive let down. The place is quite tiny so reservations are highly recommended. There's a robata counter which is quite theatrical but avoid if you don't want to leave the place smelling like food. Very attentive staff.
Best Japanese in the Uk. Much better than Nobu, Zuma or any similar. Av. ÂŁ50-70 /person. Very good service, warm but small environment.
34 years of high quality Japanese food and its golden location on Bond st. Ikeda is a well rounded restaurant, great for all types of tradtional dishes, noodles, sushi, stews and grills.
I had a fantastic meal. Comforting, yet theatrical. Pricy, but totally worth it.
Whenever I fancy tempura, I immediately think of Ikeda. The small restaurant on Brook Street specialises in tempura and katsu, and are also known for their sushi, although I almost always opt for their fried dishes so have only sampled their sushi once. A
One of the best Japanese restaurant in London. For the price, itâs unique turn on Japanese food is exceptional.
The wagyu is amazing and the salads are refreshing! The price might seem hefty but it is worth every penny. The black cod is delicious and the fish is very fresh. It has become one of my most revisited restaurants!
I was blew away by how authentic the food was. The quality and the service were impeccable. Love every dishes we had. It was my friend regular place, according to him the food has been consistent throughout the years. You will not regret any dish you have ordered.
Best sushi in London hands down
The quality of the fish is great and the staff is very knowledgable .
We had the sushi and sashimi set as well as some extra plates .
The octopus starter and the aubergine miso plate were the highlightsđ€€đ€€
As for the sashimi you cannot go wrong , itâs all super fresh and tastes great!
Great for a special occasion.
A bit on those expensive side for sushi but definitely worth it .
Make me feel like I have been back to Japan
Sat at the bar and watched the chefs preparing dishes in front of us.
Highly recommend the Assorted Sashimi which is of high quality and can taste the freshness.
Also, The Unaju (barbequed eel on rice) sauce was freshly cooked which blends the soft eel and chewy rice very well.
However it is quite pricy when compared to other authentic Japanese restaurants in London.
High end cuisine, fairly priced, actually lower than I would have expected.
I came here with my friend who has visited it so often that she has already tried everything on the menu and she ordered everything.
Apple sake is rather special comparing to all the plum sake jn Japanese cuisine restaurants, it is sweeter but in a refreshing way, and doesnât have the sour alcohol taste as in the plum sake. Highly recommended
Everything is quite high standard. Really enjoy Kobe beef. Would be better if the menu has more dessert other than ice cream and mochi ice-cream.
Would come again and tried out chicken ç§éžnext time, and perhaps the wasabi ice cream
The freshness and flavour of all fishes and sea food was the highlight of the experience. Iâve ordered only two dishes: pork belly as a starter (great choice, tasted divine) and sashimi as my main. I had a delicious peach sake for dessert as they only offer ice creams for dessert and I didnât feel like it.
The restaurant is small but doesnât feel particularly intimate, the decor could be improved. Lovely waitresses, extremely polite and attentive.
I took one star as I should have received a 20% discount as I had booked my dinner online for 17:30 last Thursday and this was conveniently âforgottenâ by the staff. My mistake not to have reminded them before paying.
A good place to recall memories travelling to Japan.
Began with a warm welcome, service quality could be better by offering a hot towel to each guest.
Medium fatty tuna was up to standard. The fat was distributed beautifully. Sushi rice could be improved by adding a bit more sushi vinegar replicating the authentic Japanese style.
A La Carte Sashimi could be ordered by the piece was an excellent gesture!
Gindara ( black cod ) was nicely cooked. A little bit oily feeling at the end.
Tempura was average. The flour surrounding the Tempura could be a lot thinner.
Ice creams were mixed with vanilla flavour regardless of Red Bean/Green Tea flavour. This should be mentioned in the menu.
Really authentic Japanese cuisine. One of the freshest sea urchin Iâve ever tasted in London. Unagi is amazingly cooked and good proportion. Only downside is that itâs a bit overpriced for what they are offering, but understandable for the location. Will recommend when you are in that area.
Exquisite. That's the only word I can use to describe Ikeda. Since our first visit in October 2021, this has become my favourite Japanese restaurant in London. From the family and very Japanese feel, waitresses in kimonos and don't speak too fast so they understand you, to the quaintness of the restaurant (seats about 20) in a fantastic location on Brook Street walkable from Bond Street and Oxford Circuit tube, to the freshest fish I have tasted outside of Billingsgate Market. The Kobe beef steak was sublime and literally melted in the mouth.
We couldn't wait to get stuck in this second visit so I only have a picture of the Kobe but will add more pictures as we visit again.
Seriously, do you yourself a favour and visit Ikeda. There is only one Japanese restaurant that has the chances of beating this one in London, review to come as soon as I can get a table there.
We ordered vegetable tempura, grilled salmon, grilled beef, some rice and plum wine. The food is good in general. The salmon is especially good. The plum wine is also of good quality.
Price is high. ÂŁ107 for 2 of us.
Will probably come again.
+ Food is good. Especially the salmon
+ Great service
+ Great environment
- Expensive, but justifiable for the quality
Authentic Japanese food. Two dishes that impressed me are the seafood broth in a teapot, and blackcod. Nigiri uses fresh ingredients but I am not able to tell the difference between this and some other good (and less pricey) Japanese restaurants. Service is really good and friendly. I was catching up with a friend from 6 till 10 and we were never hinted to leave at any point.
A simple but nice sushi place if you are looking for high quality assured food. Quiet and cosy
My favourite Japanese restaurant in London. Food is amazing, service is spectacular. I love it so much and always come here for special occasions. Expensive but worth it. Also their Yuzu-shu is lovely!
Great place to visit! Small dining area but wonderful service and food. I love the unagi don and chawanmushi there! A little bit pricy but completely acceptable for what you will get. Recommended!
