Hare and tortoise do some things really well and others less so. But I'd still say that it's a step above wagamama. Their ramen, especially the miso ramen is really delicioue, with a moorish, well seasoned stock, generous portions of tender belly pork and a nicely cooked half egg too. A challenge to them would definitely be to serve a whole egg- why only a half I'll never know. The yakitori are also well cooked as are the oyster sauce smothered greens. Less good are the stir fried noodles, which are bland and meagre in portion and the edamame, which are cold and taste of soap! It's a very solid restaurant though with a diverse menu and quick service to boot.

Excellent sushi at a really reasonable price. Service is not usually the best, but the quality of food more than makes up for it.

Every foodie has that special place they call home, a restaurant that is a comfort zone and provides the food they love on every occasion without disappointment.
Hate and Tortoise in Putney is that comfort zone or home for me,providing Thai food that is fresh, substantial and yet contents your growling stomach surprisingly well.

Try the vegetarian spring rolls as a starter, they are really moorish and try the black bean beef with either rice or noodles never disappoints.... To make you feel that bit healthier there is the option of fresh juice or green tea which has a free top up.

A sign of a good restaurant is how packed it is and I have never seen Hare and Tortoise with less than full capacity.

Friendly staff combined with fresh food and modern interior as well as affordable....."can't go wrong"!!

Delicious food and speedy service. Both the Duck and Salmon were cooked to perfection. We also ordered the Calamari and Vegetable Tempura for starters. Would give the food 5 stars, however the restaurant itself is in need of some TLC.

Combined with friendly, attentive, helpful service we had delicious food. Three shared Shanghai noodles, sushi, duck over rice, and pad thai. All delicious w/ the crispy duck perfectly spiced and generous amount. Noodles perfect. Clean restaurant. Some things not good for delivery and will lose crispness like tempura, etc, so recommend eat in.

Disguised under what sounds like the name of a pub, this small oriental restaurant had been recommended by my daughters, and it fully lived up to expectations. Service was kind and efficient, the food was very good, the ambiance was simple and pleasant, full of light and with no background music disturbing the conversation. The bill for the three of us was £50, including a 10% service charge. The high level of takeout activity was confined to the entrance area, and did not disturb us at all. It is now one of my favourite restaurants in the neighbourhood, both for dining in and take out.

Really enjoyable meal with a wide range of sushi and sashimi. Was with two vegetarians who had good choice and excellent food too. Unexpected highlight was the matcha dessert 😋

Food was good overall for lunch but the duck was more on the dry side. The curry laksa I had in Kensington was amazing, however in Putney felt like the broth was a bit too thick but the flavours were there.

We've ordered food from this restaurant a few times already - sushi and other asian dishes It's tasty and they have good variety The food is fresh however we find Ohayo restaurant better than this one having in mind the prices and the food quality The sushi pieces are fine Currently they have a level 2 rating on hygiene standard which is also not great 4 stars as the food is good but not spectacular, in our opinion

I've been going here for 7 years every fortnight or so. The food is great and the service is quick My favourites are the duck and rice, Panang curry. They do limited time menu's, recently I had a Pork bulgogi (Korean) which was fantastic!

Really excellent food. Lovely staff. Good value for money. I used to go to the H&T in Kensington regularly near my old work. It was lunchtime favourite. Fast service and great consistently excellent food. Love it! Was very happy to walk past and find the Putney restaurant 😀 I’ve had lots of great dishes at H&T but my all time fav is the Char Kuey Tiew. Seafood and pork sausage noodles. I always order with chilli oil and apply liberally. It really elevates the dish. Today did not disappoint. My taste buds are dancing 💃🏼 Thank you guys

A really nice 'jewel' in Putney if you like Asian cuisine. There's a decent variety here and everything on the menu is tasty. Especially the spicy ring sticks, the Ramen and the Lo mein. Well with a visit.

Casual and airy place conveniently located on a main road. The menu has loads of selection and is reasonably priced, and the food is really tasty too. They have a selection of vegetarian dishes alongside vegetarian sushi, which is delicious. Some of the portions are on the small side (like the dumplings), but they match the price. The service is not amazing, but it's also not bad - just not on the warm side. Overall it's a cute place and I enjoy going once in a while.
