Popped in for a Final meal whilst in London, was hovering about the Bishopgate/Aldgate/Whitechapel Area and wanted a Steak and ale Pie and boy did they not disappoint, I've tried a few pies along by travels but tgis was the best I've tried, the pastry casing was flaky but firm enough to hold the delicious chunks of beef within its walls.

If this was my final meal then I would've been a very happy man !!

The upstairs is a very well decorated dining room. We had the triple fried fries ( absolutely divine), the cheese garlic bread which was excellent, the nicolsen or something similar sounds which my friend absolutely loved, she said even the salad was tasty for once. The icing on the cake was the brownie with ice cream. Best I've had so far in London. Excellent place.

The Woodin's Shades in London is a cozy blend of traditional pub charm and modern comfort. With a wide array of beers and a hearty British menu, it's a nod to classic English hospitality. The ambiance is lively, with jovial crowds adding to the appeal. Minor waits during peak hours, but the friendly staff and warm interiors make it a worthy visit for anyone seeking a quintessential British pub experience.

Nice little pub with great service! We popped in for a drink and quick bite before more exploring on our visit. Love the option for upstairs or downstairs areas with bartenders in both sections. We chose a cozy little corner upstairs. Katarzyna was an absolute delight and couldn't ask for better service. She even explained the halloumi fries to us and we had to try. So glad we did! Great recommendation! It's my new favorite starter! I also got the Nourish bowl, a salad with grains, seeds, lettuce and a houmous vinegarette dressing.

Grand tavern well rooted in its heritage with well preserved features. Large space, large long bar with heritage and a broad selection on tap. Loved in vintage feel. A great place for friend chatting and London street drinking. Music could be better spread but I imagine this is booming with big sports events on the big screens.

Where do I begin? This quaint pub located next to Liverpool Street station was quite frankly a dream. Drinks were glorious, the pub was clean and just to top it all off the service was great. Dom was the best bartender I've ever had. Considering inviting him to my funeral. A double gin and tonic has never tasted so good - served with professionalism and love. Looking to book again for a large corporate event. Dom is invited.

🚇 Liverpool Street 🍺 £6.30 Amstel ❤️ A traditional Bishopsgate boozer. . The Woodins Shades is located on bustling Bishopsgate and sits at the corner of Middlesex Street, a gateway to Petticoat Lane Market. The nearest station is Liverpool Street which is just across the road. . Built in 1893 The Woodin’s Shades takes its name from wine merchant, William Woodin, while the ‘shades’ part apparently comes from an old word for a wine vault with a drinking bar. . The decor here in this split level two bar pub is traditional. There is solid wood flooring running throughout and a mix of high and low level seating. The good sized servery is eye catching with its ornate woodwork and etched mirrors. Around the walls are a few large TV’s showing live sport. The upstairs bar is geared up for dining and is a calmer environment away from the busy ground level bar. . As this is a @nicholsonspubs the beer and food offering reflects the traditional set up here. There is a good beer selection which includes five real ales and some familiar keg favourites. I chose an Amstel, my pint was very agreeable and was average price at just over six quid. The food menu focuses on the Great British Pie and has a broad selection of pub classics too, fish and chips costs £15.50. . The atmosphere was relaxed on this Sunday lunchtime with a few different groups in from near and far plus a few solo drinkers. The Sunderland v Middlesbrough game was on the box which seemed to have most people’s attention, especially some passionate Mackem lads at the back of the bar. This pub can get very busy very quickly due to its proximity to the station and Petticoat Lane Market. I have visited this pub a few times over the years, my last visit before this I bailed as it was so busy. . The @woodinsshades is a great starting point to explore the sights and sounds of Spitalfields. This pub does traditional very well and offers its punters a traditional pub experience. The beer and food choice is good and price point is average. If you want to get the most out of this pub I would avoid peak times as it gets very busy here. . ℹ️ Info correct on visiting 22.01.23

Lively bar in a central location. Excellent service by Dominic - went beyond his way to find us a comfortable table to watch football. Kudos!

My specified downstairs table booking wasn’t on the list., despite me having email confirmation. Luckily a table close by was free. Food was good but 1person got served and had eaten before the other 3 arrived. Staff were courteous & did apologise. Appeared to have polite trainee staff serving drinks; confusion over knowledge of red & white wine. Overall was fine and will return, just some constructive feedback.

Nice Nicholson’s pub. We came coincidentally when it was very busy as there was a soccer match on, so it was a bit rowdy and hard to get a seat. I think it may be nice to return when less busy and perhaps get some food … we did have some good keg ales I remember a particularly fine pint of Yardsman’s Belfast pale ale 🍺

Really nice pub. You have to order and pay your meals and drinks at the counter. Breakfast was quite good and freshly made. I loved the pancakes. Lunch starts at 12. Before that you can't order lunch meals. Good value for money. Can be crowded during lunchtime.

This was my first London treat, I always wanted to try this and I enjoyed every bit of it, so yummy and tasty! Its a meat pie right? I bumped into this place by accident while getting lost and getting hungry, the bar part of it threw me off, because I didn't know the restaurant was on the second floor, maybe it is just a England thing, but I hesitated a bit. But it was worth it, the service was great and the food came out quick! I would recommend this place for anyone who wants to see some real London food!
