I visited London in March 2017. The modern decoration and the view in Tate Café was so memorable that I am writing about it after 1 year. The food was good but the surprise was that the breakfast was cheap compared to other places with a romantic and exquisite view.
If you go right into the restaurant, you miss the best part of the place - the views! For this, go into the cafe and take a seat directly facing the river. The best seat in the house is of course the one facing St. Pauls. Have some tea and cake. Service is OK because it's always very very busy with tourists.
Lovely in all seasons. Get a table by the window and you have a great view of the river. On a weekday morning you have the place to yourself. Crumpets with blueberry jam and a pot of earl grey by the window on an Autumn week day morning would be my suggestion.
Nice restaurant in the top of Tate museum, we were surprised about the food quality to be honest. They have different menus and courses to select and the food is elavorated and tasty so it’s a good choice if you are visiting the museum. Service was excellent and the views are amazing, we were next to the window in front of St Pauls Cathedral, perfect lunch. It’s true the price is a bit expensive for a museum, around 45£pp but still recommendable!
Attended the Yayoi Kusama exhibition which I was quite disappointed by how underwhelming the display was although it was an interesting experience there wasn’t much to it.
HOWEVER, dining upstairs afterwards made up for the disappointment, the view was amazing with large windows allowing you to see over the Thames & the atmosphere was airy & welcoming. The staff were very friendly as well despite how busy they were!
The food was great too, I tried a new starter: chargrilled leek & romesco sauce, it was lovely light on the palette and flavoursome, the portion was small but worked out in my favour in the end as I was stuffed after having the main.
I had the confit duck for the main which was beautifully done, the vegetables & bacon were a nice touch and packed a lot of flavour. Far better than expected.
was pleasantly surprised by the experience. the food and drinks were pretty decent, and the view was phenomenal on a beautiful sunny day.
the space felt oddly like a school cafeteria though; the restaurant could def do with a more refined interior.
Very friendly and helpful staff. Gluten free and allergy aware as well. Their gluten free bread is the best I've had at a non dedicated gluten free restaurant.
The food was delicious, innovative, and really nicely presented. The view is really nice when the weather is good.
We ordered two starters and two mains. The only remark is that my main, cauliflower with cashew puree, the puree was a bit too sweet. Otherwise, it was delicious.
I think this would be a nice place to take visitors to.
Nice ambience, and friendly staff. The food is awesome.
My personal favourite is the desert (Nice cream strawberry sundae, coconut chia, pistachio).
The amazing and speechless view! It should be very lucky if you see this specracular Thames river view, as you know, it is quite rare to experience very sunny day. The food is quite average but it is worth a vist definitely
The food here was excellent. It was all unique and interesting. Also fun that it was inspired by the current exhibits.
It was a lot pricier than I expected for a museum lunch, but quite good. I was only disappointed by the vegetarian main at the time, it was oddly small and unsubstantial like a side dish to something.
Had a lovely after exhibition lunch. It was a set menu and it had yummy vegan options for the started and the main, not sure they had one for dessert.
Food was nice. Great beer exclusive to the Tate Modern. View was lovely and staff were friendly throughout the whole dinner.
The food is very good, the view is wonderful, and the staff were extremely kind and accommodating. Our experience was a hands-down 5 stars because the staff were amazing and got us a window seat, so we're grateful to them for their hospitality.
The decor in the center of the restaurant seemed just ok, so the closer you are to the window the better - ask in advance or wait if there's an upcoming opening. We had actually come expecting a different menu, but in the end all of the dishes we had were very well-prepared and tasty. A nice experience overall.
Great set menu for Olafur Eliasson! Such fresh and interesting flavours. A real treat.
Nice view from the bar area. Good place to stay for a few hours to read, study, chat or for some quiet moments.
