Located not too far from Liverpool Street station, the Astronomer offers a quirky and fun space. You may spot a date there, a gathering of friends, a gaggle of gossipers, some work colleagues letting their hair down.
The food menu is varied with the usual staples you'll look for on a pub grub menu.
Same with drinks.
Prices are decent too. Nothing too much.
Service is quick throughout the evening too.
A good place to return to in future!
Though it was getting full, the staff managed to find space for 5 of us. What attracted us was the tag, "Pie and Ale" and wanted to try some pies. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal selection, though there were quite a few unavailable items on the Sunday that we visited.
The haggis scotch egg with tomato chutney was moist and flavourful. We also enjoyed the bacon and brie toasted sandwich, spiced duck pie with cauliflower cheese, roast beef with yorkshire pudding and the cornish pastry.
The staff were efficient dealing with the Sunday crowd.
The ambience and the decor is great matching to the pub name "Astronomer". Service is spot on, friendly and quick.
