During the month of January, The Abbeville pub was offering 50% off food. This left me with no excuse but to jump out the front door and toodle down the road to enjoy a candle lit dinner with an old friend. With it being a popular hideout for many locals we booked a table for two, at 7pm in advance, which was a wise decision as it was rather busy despite it being a midweek occasion.
Headed here for a lovely little dinner for 4 a couple of months ago. It's warm and cosy during the winter months and provides some excellent British gastro grub. The lighting was fairly dark so I didn't manage to take photos that justify the beautiful food!
It's a little pricey (£15 per person including wine AND taste card discount applied!) but the portions were a good size and the quality of the food really shines through. Would recommend.

Great Sunday lunch. Bizarrely though they had music playing and somehow there were 2 different songs playing at the same time making a real row. Pointed this out, they said that can't be the case! Very strange and lack of attention to detail!
Normally I get annoyed at pubs that are trying to be a restaurant. Not so here. Let's get things straight though, this is a pub. So don't expect exquisite food. Good beer to be had which is a nice start. Food-wise it is certainly overpriced in the grand tradition of all pub that want to be restaurants. The food is generally very nice bit I might grumble about portion sizes on some days. Sunday lunch, that pub food staple, is no better or worse than anywhere else in the area. I'd say this place gets by on charm and atmosphere more than on the food. Overall: average to good.

Great spot on Abbeville road. Nice tables on pavement for quick stop before food shopping. Beer and service great, food was pretty good: calamari not crispy but nice squid, scotch egg was fine. Friendly, quick service and nice atmosphere.
Would definitely return for a drink, and probably a snack if we were hungry.

Just a really beautiful old pub with a lovely atmosphere . I had the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding which was very nice. Followed by blackberry and apple crumble with custard also very good. Service was excellent and friendly. Very nice menu choices. I will definitely go back. Dog friendly and made him very welcome.

One of the best pubs in Clapham. This hidden gem not only offers amazing food but the service is impeccable. The staff is so friendly and always goes out of their way to accommodate us. We come here with our family a lot and so far we've never been disappointed. Keep up the great work guys!
I went with the kids for breakfast with no reservation on a Sunday morning and we were seated quickly. The kids loved it! Food was nice and so was the service, decor lovely and authentic. Also pet friendly if you want to go with your dog. The only reason I gave it one star less is because the portion sizes were small, however I would definitely go back for a Sunday roast as the portion sizes for this looked huge when it was being served to other tables.
This pub is great for an afternoon drink or to grab a quick bite. The interior is spacious and tastefully decorated. The food is decent, not very good but not bad either, it truly sits in the middle ! The service was alright but then again there was a lot customers so the rush was understandable.
All in all a pleasant pub.

They do great cocktails and have treats for our little doggies. There is also colouring for kids. We just love that place, it feels like home.

Superb ambience and great food! This is our local pub and it always feels warm and cozy! Great for a casual drink but also very nice for a Sunday Roast! Good selection of lagers.

A gorgeous pub in a lovely area with a really nice vibe. The atmosphere is great and the food is generally very good though the ham hock croquettes were a little stodgy and tasted a tad oily. Still the burger was high quality and the service was friendly and efficient. Everything seemed clean and well managed. I only keep back a star - and I'm in two minds about it - because there was a stool already outside which I decided to rest on for five minutes in the heat and a lad from the bar was a bit rude and told me off for sitting on it. "Mate you can't take chairs from the bar."
Me: "Mate it was already out here"
He apologised but still took it (nobody was waiting for a stool at the empty bar inside) and people were looking at me like I'd just slapped an orphan.
It would have been courteous to wait till I moved and quietly bring the stool in rather than confronting me like a bar goblin. Stoolgate was a small thing but it made me feel a bit embarrassed and uncomfortable. Still I'll be back for a lovely pint in a lovely pub.
I have been a customer at the abbeville for 5 years now and I’ve been always satisfied with the lovely food and the friendly service.
As a new mum I feel so glad to have a place that I can go with my 4months old baby with out feeling anxious!
I want to thank Armanda for calming my baby down when he was crying and letting me enjoy my food.
