I was tempted to give the food a 4 because of the limited vegan options. But that wouldn’t be fair as it’s not a vegan restaurant and there are sufficient options. Besides the taste and quality is excellent as well as super filling.
This was my first time and the staff were great at explaining the process and options. It is fun and reassuring to watch them prepare your meal and be asked what you want included; an anxious vegans’ dream.
The decor is super colourful and fun. My only critique of the atmosphere was the music was really loud; which was a little much during the day while the restaurant wasn’t full. Great Latin vibe though.
A fantastic experience and I will come again.

Great place to have tasty burritos. We have been going for many years and have never been disappointed. Food is tasty and quite fresh due to so much demand, plenty of seating, staff is helpful, and music adds to the chill out atmosphere. Its quite easy to get to given the tube and bus stations nearby. There's also a mall with cinema right next to this place for spending more time in the area.

Found this place by mistake. Great interior design, the staff was friendly. Nice burritos, tried the chilango and steak burritos. We got fries with sauce and it was fresh.
Spacious seating areas are available. The restrooms are in the basement and it was clean.

10/10 as always, came back after a long while and I was so happy everything was still the same: delicious food and extremely lovely people working there!!! the restaurant was also looking better than ever, loved the new details (specially upstairs), very cosy!!

We've been going there twice a month (at least) for the last 6 months. All ingredients are fresh and tasty, the beef and chicken are cooked to perfection, the guacamole is full of flavours and the sauce in the salad is delicious. And the staff is delightful, we've now become regulars, they always greet us with a hello and a smile, we love this place!

Was really impressed. Good food, quick and friendly service and while we were there they were doing amazing cocktails. Would definitely go again.

Food is great at most times I visit; steak is my favourite and portions sometimes vary depending on who is serving, when the staff member serves a good portion is very satisfying.

Between us, we had a steak burrito, cheesy nachos, a water and a coke, and the bill came to over £20. Quite pricey, all things considered, but the service was great and the food was decent.

Stop off here before our visit or the O2 Islington. A very short walk from the venue and you get delicious, generously made tacos and burritos. Packed full of fresh filling and tasty chicken. First time here, and definitely won’t be my last. Great prices, along with cool corona to balance the spice…throughly recommend coming here.

This place is absolutely fantastic.. The management and her team on duty at the time was second to none. The food was impeccable and decent price the vibe here is brilliant with an open kitchen and staff allowed to play their own music and seem to have a good hold on things and hard working which is perfect.
will definitely return :)

This place has ruined burritos for me because it’s the best quick service Mexican place I’ve ever been to. Usually burrito bars barely season the different elements that make it but absolutely everything I got was delicious. If they ever open one in Ireland I’ll be the first in the door.

I will say, this isn’t my first time coming into Chilango. I love exploring resteraunts and their foods. With a tortilla and chipotle also here, I’ve explored each option but returned to Chilango, due to the consistent amazing customer service and atmosphere. I often find that these type of businesses lose their charm, but not chilango.
There was no music, but the workers kindly explained it was a technical issue. I would like to say the Worker “Alice” was very kind and informative on the new Carnitas.
I hope Chilango doesn’t lose its charm. It really brought a smile to my day.

Chilango’s is still our go-to spot for a burrito.
They always make it exactly how you like it, unlike other competitors. Staff are always welcoming and pleasant to deal with. Will be back again.
Jill Lingen
I love this place. I’m from America and this is the closest to a American West Coast Mexican burrito I’ve found in the city. I come as often as I can!
Konstantin Pinaev
My favourite Mexican in Islington. It’s good to know there’s always a burrito waiting for you on Upper st. These guys are open quite late, so if you’re up for Mexican - takeaways are fast and easy.
Lunch options are there as well - there’s always an empty table upstairs.

I just had another horrible experience at Chilango today and decided to rate them on Facebook. I frequently have Chilango for a year now at their restaurant on Brewer Street in Soho. In the past the burritos has been exceptional, pretty decent in size, and the staff were friendly. However, my recent experience these past two months have been appalling. I went with two of my friends today for lunch at Chilango and I ordered a regular steak burrito, while my friends order a regular steak and chicken burritos for take out. My two friends was helped by one staff while I was helped by another. To my surprise, the burritos my friends got was twice the size larger than my burrito which was made by another staff. I am quite displease as we all ordered regular burrito, clearly mine was a lot smaller. The staff who helped me was not friendly or attentive. She looked like she was half a sleep. The experience I got from Chilango today was by far the worse and horrible. I am very disappointed in it having eaten there frequently for a year now. You just lost a client!

I Went to Fleet St branch yesterday with a friend and had a very disappointing experience . I was charged £9:95 for a protein box as I ordered it with Guacamole . I don't mind paying for what I ordered but the portion was so way too small . I was not even given a receipt to see why I was charged so high... Very disappointed..

Camden 22/5.
We came pretty late to the restaturant, after a long day full of walking.. and all we wanted was... mexican food. Although we arrived at the latest hour, a very charming man named Chris invited us the best service at the most needed hour to sit down and have the meal. Our following meal was super delish and so was our connection with the amazing Chris and Laura (the staff)
thanks so much and sorry for being so messy

Disgrace! Went to Chilango- Chancery Lane and I was served this, what is suppose to be a 'Legendary box' minus the tortilla chips and salad there is absolutely nothing in my 'legendary box'! A big box and not even a 1/4 of it was full. Seems as though it was a small spoon of rice and few peppers, some chicken pieces, and a small amount of beans! All this for £4.99 without a lemonade which use to come with it! How disgraceful, looked like a kids meal! Was you short of ingredients or something?Definitely won't be going here again!!
Juliet Canham
Feeling utterly ripped off I just paid £5.80 for 4 small pieces of pork and a handful of lettuce! Absolutely disgusted at this place! The foods tasty but for the same price over the road you get a generous amount of meat and they don't charge an extra 95p for guacamole! I definitely won't be back! Maybe if you stopped giving away free stuff you might be able to be more reasonable with paying customers!! This was the Oxford road branch
Alex Scholar
Just came out of the London Bridge one and I had to pay double portion of chicken when the guy behind had the same for normal price. Too expensive for a normal burrito
Adhith Rajesh
Chilango is an apt place for fast but still healthy food to takeaway or stay in. They offer curries, salads and wraps along with other snacks. We tried the chicken wraps with sweet potatoes fries. Loved the fact that I could have my wrap without rice and substitute it with cooked veggies and sour cream instead of mayo. Recommended!
Rebecca
I like this place, it was my first time trying it out. I was in a hurry so I wanted a quick meal, I ordered their signature chicken burrito with added grilled onions and pepper + guacamole. It was very tasty and the portion was generous. Would definitely go back again 👍

Some people are all about that bass. 'Bout that bass. 'Bout that bass. No tremble. Myself, I'm all about that grilled steak burrito. Absolutely phenomenal.

Best Cinco De Mayo I ever spent! The staff had amazing make up and attire, the place was done up and the ambience was totally worth the alone time.
Also in my personal opinion, nobody does better burritos in London.
Highly recommended
Rebelwave100
What the....?. Seriously that Aussie bloke at the till is a joke, all the other staff, even the one's that struggle with English were so polite and happy and gave really great customer service then you have to pay this loudmouth who broadcast all your business to every corner of the premises and then some. I found he totally ruined the whole visit even after I paid I could here him, It's almost like he was drunk. For a place that's overpriced and stingy on the protein part of the burrito you cannot afford to "fudge" up like that. very very disappointed I wouldn't even mind the extortion if that guy would just shut up and learn how to talk to Londoners.

Depressing. I have visited this place with varying degrees of regularity over the hers but it had always been a place I came back to again and again. It was... until today!! Picture the scene, a very busy lunch line, as normal... I ask for a steak burrito, shocked at how much rice and beans they piled on and the lack of steak-a quick glance up tells you that you now need to pay £3 extra for extra meat! Shocking really considering the size portion of burrito at another burrito bar just up the road! Which by the way is just further up on the other side of the street.
I get to the part where I pay only to find a very loud Aussie who informs me loudly and clearly that, the steak is cooked medium rare therefore he 'can't guarantee that my unborn child would not be harmed by e coli, would I like to proceed and take the risk'. He then goes on to quiz me about my pregnancy and how far I am, whilst heads turn to observe this exchange. Whilst I appreciate the warning, this is something tat should have been mentioned at step one, not at the end when its wrapped and ready to buy in such a publicly shaming way. I was so disgusted by his approach needless to say I couldn't eat it and it went in the bin. Had I have thought quickly enough I would have told him that with such a small serving of meat I felt safe!
Gino
Disappointing!. Labelled by many as best burritos in London.

Facts: Grilled chicken, cold additional ingredients, extra 1.25 for guacamole.
Results: Tasty freezing cold burritos, 11 quid for that a beer.
Will certainly try elsewhere in future :/
Food Lover
I Wish I Could Eat Here Everyday. As a California transplant, this place is the closest I get to feeling at home. The food is fresh, authentic, and delicious. If you don't like it, it means you don't like real Mexican food. If you haven't tried it, try it. The burritos, nachos, and tacos are incredible.
Jamiego
Stingy, grumpy and pricey.
Andy
Chilango Burittos one of the best steak burittos I have ever had ,service was good ,they have some very good mexican beer try it very good, if you are in isligton upper street you need to visit chilango,The place was busy at lunch time also Keep up the good work will be back soon

Great food. I took my two daughters aged 9 and 11 for dinner at Chilango's yesterday,we had a great time, the staff were very friendly and helpful. The staff gave suggestions as what the kids would enjoy and what was too spicy .The food was great, and the portions were big,my kids shared there's.

Vegetarians Beware/Awful Place. I have been to Chilango's Islington a few times with friends and always found it OK in terms of the food it serves but nothing to recommend to anyone else.

I went alone today and bought a vegetable burrito to take-away. As I was talking to the server who was asking me what I wanted in the burrito I told him I didin't mind as long as it was vegetarian- this loud American man who was also working there butted in and said put chicken in and started laughing. The server looked at him in shock and this is what made me uncomfortable with the whole situation otherwise I would have just taken it for a joke- albeit in very bad taste. Where else do you get jokes and chicken in tour food if you are a vegeterian and have said that is all you want in your food????. When the American saw that the server and I were not laughing with him he didin't even say sorry- just continued laughing and walked away. This "joke" is what made me wary of the place and the contents of the burrito.

I took the burrito out and after taking a few bites of the filling I felt something in between my teeth and am still hard pressed to say what it was- it just felt sinewy and hard/plastic???.. I threw away the mouthful and took the burrito back to Chilango's. I did not want to make a fuss as there were other customers ordering at the counter so I spoke to one of the staff at the side of the till. She offered to replace the burrito but I just didin't want to try another one so she agreed to refund the price- which was £5.10.

This is is when things turned bizarre and ugly because the American man made an entrance again and asked what was going on. Apparently he is the manager?? but he didin't even have the courtesy to introduce himself and really in terms of how badly he then went on to behave this discourtesy was a drop in the ocean. I explained what had happened and he asked where the "thing" that had been in the burrito was. I told him that I had thrown it away- it had after all been in my mouth with some of the burrito filling. Naively I thought that he might be feeling embarassed so I said that I had been in a few times before as and that nothing like this had happened previously. He then asked me whether I would come again and maybe the reason why the situation turned so awful was because I hesitated. He then started to behave in a really ugly and hostile manner and cloaked it all in a sort of insincere American bonhomie. He started of by saying saying that I had eaten most of the burrito(not true!) and kep on mumbling under his breath. I said that in England customers still felt that they had the right if they consumed food that was not good or had something wrong with it to make a complaint about it. He then intimated that I was making the whole thing up and really I would have just let the matter go if he had just come out and said that. It was the fact that he was so agressive in his language and yet over familiar in the way he referred to me- e.g. saying that he didin't know me that well???. How would he know me at all ???I was a total stranger to him and making a valid complaint about the food that he is selling to the public. In any event I just did not want to go on with the conversation and told him that I had made the complaint out of principle but that now I knew what kind of company Chilango's was - he could keep the money.

I then went to walk out of the restaurant but he followed me and just would not let it go.By this stage he was bullying me and started to harangue me as to why I had not thrown the burrito away in the bin by the cash till. I have to say I was so shocked by his hostility towards me that I didin't even notice the bin never mind anything else. Clearly he thought that I had put something in the burrito-a £5.10 burrito at that!. But by this stage I felt bloody minded enough to say that I would not put it in his bin and of course he started to use this as the excuse he had been looking for in order to behave in a even worse way towards me.I knew that this was not an argument that could be won- certainly not by me and this despite the fact that I was in the right. I told him how affronted I was by his behaviour. The only response from him was more bizarre and grating laughter???. He just continued to talk about the bin?? and said that he was also affronted !!. I left the place by saying that it was not right of him to behave in this way when a valid complaint was made by a customer. The man just would not stop talking and this time it was about about England and the English!!??. He then started to tell someone else about what I had said.- so another point to him there on how to value and respect customers.

To come to the point of the review- if you want to receive good customer service and be treated with courtesy and respect then DON'T GO TO CHILANGO'S ISLINGTON.

If you want good, authentic Mexican food (and I have reliable experience of this) and not the overcooked (and please believe me this is not sour grapes) bland "sandwich fillings" type of food then DON'T GO TO CHILANGO'S ISLINGTON.

If however you want to be the victim of an unprovoked, outlandish and aggressive verbal onslaught at the hands of the American man who seems to be the manager there then do go to CHILANGO'S ISLINGTON and try your luck.

My advice however would be to give the place a miss as I had my day and appetite ruined for the sake of £5.10. I can't see you coming out much better - especially if like me you are a vegetarian me and had to make a complaint as well.

It seems that Chilango's company policy is to "attack" the customer and not to deal with or resolve the complaint.

Like This Place. My father recommended it to me and the food was really really nice with good service i would happily eat here again.

Hangover a-go-go. Perfect tucker for when you're struggling through the day in the office and need some tummy-lovin'. Not that I couldn't enjoy it at other times; it's just quite a big lunch to justify!

Also - don't be put off by the queue, it goes down quickly.

I like it. My dad said it was good so I tried it myself and it was really lovely. The pork burritos are absouloutly gorgeous!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Recommended it to everyone

Chilango. Love this restaurant. If you love Mexican you have to try it. Modern, uplifting and the freshest food I've tasted in a long time. Really good value for money and free refills on soft drinks. Reminded me of places in the USA.

Amazing Burittos. Chilango's serve the best and biggest burittos you have ever seen. They give great service and considering the portion size are great value. I had the grilled chicken burrito and my husband had the steak burrito washed down with great Mexican beers! Highly recommended if your in Islington.
Danielle
Brilliant!. Went for lunch with my mum and we had a really great meal. The girls behind the counter were really helpful and very friendly, as my mother and me had never had mexican out before. I revisited with my boyfriend a couple of weeks later and received the same great service. Oh and the food is amazing. Perfect if you just want to walk around the shopping centre with a burrito in your hand. A different and healthier take on fast food. Love it!! In fact we're going again tonight!

A new favourite of mine definitely!
Ben
Best Taco in Town!. Amazing this place rocks!!! Every time I go to Angel I just have to go! The soft corn tortillas they use for the tacos are awesome. Keep up the good work guys!!!

Burrito bliss. Our first trip to Chilango in Angel was great: we'd had burritos in San Francisco and we did not expect the ones in Chilango to be close to authentic, but they were! Even down to the conveyor-belt like action at the counter and the aluminium foil packaging. This was a real find.
Chris
A great place to eat and relax on busy shopping trips. We discovered Chilango a few months back when looking for somewhere to eat whilst on a shopping trip in Angel. Initially we were attracted to the person wearing a colourful (crazy) wrestling mask who was handing out free samples.
We went in and had a burrito and have gone back each time we have gone to Angel. The staff are friendly and they certainly contribute to a great place to refuel and rest during these trips.
If you enjoy Mexican food in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere then Chilango is certainly for you!
Mariana Saraceni
Amazing!. This Angel spot WILL surprise you in more ways than one. The atmosphere of the restaurant is great, it truly has a great vibe. Everybody from the staff is super friendly and believe me, they are more than generous with the food! Now, moving on to some serious stuff, let me tell you about the food... The steak (my favorite),could not be cooked in a better way, it is flawless and SO juice you won't believe it! The pork is also truly fantastic and since this is the best Mexican restaurant in London, the chicken of course is bound to be amazing. And for my favorite part THE GUACAMOLE!!! Any amount of money that I'd be ask for to pay extra, I will AND MORE!!!! Please do go to Chilango and do try the Guacamole!!! ENJOY!!!
Nick
NICK. Food is fresh and delicious and the service is excellent. the future of food that can be obtained quickly (i loathe to refer to it as fast food because it is about as far from your typical fast food as you can get).
could not reccommend it more highly.

UK version of Chipotle, which is a god thing!. As an American implant to London, I was very worried about not getting my proper fill of Tex-Mex - I was particularly worried about going into Chipotle withdrawal. But Chilango fills the void left by the absence of Chipotle in the UK.

The food is quite good and very filling. I typically go for the burrito (either steak or chicken). The ingredients are fresh and the portions are plentiful. And I like the assembly-line-before-your-eyes approach to food preparation. Not only does it remind of Chipotle (which is always a good thing), but I also like the interactive nature of being involved with the creation of your burrito (or taco) masterpiece.

Another thing about Chilango I like is the availability of bottomless cups. Free refills are de jure in the US, but not in the UK. It's nice to be able to get a refill if you need one (or want one).

I will be a loyal customer of Chilango not only because it makes me feel at home, but also because the food is excellent and you get value for what you pay.
Damian Juman
My sister introduced this place to me and I have been back a few times more since then. Well worth the trip from south east London!
Zoe
Really good food!!. Totally recommend this place! The food is amazing! Yum!! And such good value too.

Lovely Fresh Food. I popped into Chilango on inpulse as I was passing on my way back from a meeting. I hadn't heard of it and didn't know what to expect. Once I'd got over my 'old lady in Starbucks' feeling of total confusion from the amount of choice I absolutely loved it. Huge helpings of fresh and tasty food piled into a soft tortilla. I'll definitely go back. I'm training for a marathon and went for a run later in the day and I'm sure my fast time was at least partly due to my enormous, healthy lunch!

Best outside california. I have spent my life looking for somewhere to get burritos as good as the ones you get in LA or San Diego. I think I may have foudn them. These are the real deal. The taste is authentic, the portions are large, an the price is affordable.

Even the staff are friendly, even when they are serving indecisive people in front of me who take hours to make any decisions.
Crawfordjohn75
Great Food. Food ids outstanding each time I go, Kind and pleasant staff.
Rick
LOVE IT. Its a shame its so far away. I live in west london and travel over to east london JUST for chilango.
I love it!!! The burritos are almost as good as southern california and THAT is pretty hard to do. other mexican places are just kinda 'alright'.
oh...and the staff are cool as hell...
and one of them is hot
AC
Yum!. Really delicious tacos!! And the agua de jamaica... not to everyone's taste but I love it - reminds me of happy times in Mexico. The portions are generous, service is quick and the staff are friendly. What more do you need?!
Julie
Great food - tasty price. Chilango is a popular little eating spot in Angel that my boyfriend and I treat ourselves to once a week. The food is amazingly tasty, my preferance being the juicy chicken burrito and his the beef. Dinner sorted for under £7. And you can help yourself to free Mexican hot sauce so you choose the heat of your food. Love it for its canteen like charm, friendly staff and generous portions.

Happy Food :-). Ok lets be honest, I am slightly biased towards chilangos because the very first meal I had there was free - Im not saying I sold out but their fun attitude and generosity did win me over. Now I pay for my burritos and Im in there every week. I'm pretty sure the staff enjoy their food there as much as me and when you have someone enthusiastic and knowledgeable serving you, you cant help but be won over by them.

The food is delicious and perfect if you are in a hurry and want something more satisfying and healthier than a Burger.

5 STARS *****

There's A Good Reason For The Queues. I was introduced to Chilango's by a friend from work - he had one near him at Old Street and then discovered there was one on Fleet Street so immediately took us all there.

When we arrived there was a queue out the door - worrying but also a great sign that the food was going to be good. There's a sign in the window saying that you'll be having your burrito in 5 minutes - and they were right. The service is blisteringly fast, very friendly and they never make a mistake.

And the food... man, it's right up there with GBK and Ping Pong as my favourite places for lunch in the city (but if you don't like either of those places don't let that discourage you!). The burritos - I've had the chicken and pork ones so far - are ludicrously tasty. I go for black beans, mild salsa, cheese, sour cream, guacamole and lettuce - sensational and extremely filling. Go get one!
Ali
Chilango rocks Chipotle. Yes, it's true ... Chilango gives Chipotle a run for its money! The burritos aren't quite as big, and the tortilla perhaps not quite as sturdy. But I view the former to be a good thing - who wants to feel like a giant refried bean after downing their burrito? The Chilango portion size is just right. As for the latter, Chilango could probably stand to sturdy up its tortilla... but otherwise, this burrito-- from the rice to the veggies to the beans to the guac (my typical order is veggie, black beans, with guac and no sour cream) is as tasty, if not tastier, than its Yankee competitor.
Hungrydave
At a loose end for lunch. Lovely, went yesterday and had a pork burrito for lunch, calorific but georgeous! Its a v hectic production line, so not the most plesant place to sit, good choice of salsa.
Will go again.
Sarah.roberts
So delicious - you've got to try it!. This place is fab - the food is real, freshly made and damn good. I'm beginning to develop a burrito habit! The service is always upbeat and friendly and everytime I have visitors to London now I take them there for a consistently top meal. Love it!

The real Mexico right in the heart of Angel. I LOVE Chilango's!!!!! with a passion i eat there about 3 times a week There food is fresh and sweet to the tongue! I have never tasted mexican food so good! wether you eat in or takeaway you will defo enjoy it!! Its well worth the money you pay as the portions are very generous! i have told many of my friends about it and have them all addicted to i give them 9/10 and its a vote they greatly deserve it If your in the area or commuting through i advise you all to stop off!!! you wont be dissapointed

Best mexican ever. Chilango is awesome. Fresh. Even better than anything you can get in so-cal. Big call I know. It's a £15 cab ride to either the Upper St or Fleet St locations from our office but we regularly make the trek.
Ari
Tasty and happy. I always opt for a burrito, usually with steak. Very filling and tasty in a very vibrant atmosphere!

Delicious Mexicana!. I've been to Chilango three times aleady and love it! I recommed it to anyone looking for something new - the service is fast, staff are friendly and the environment is bright and bubbly! Prices are reasonable too! I hope the company expand near my area soon! Top rated!

Qdoba style in the UK. I have been looking for great cheap mexican food in the UK for nearly two years and finally stumbled on Chilango! If you are looking for something like Chipotle or Qdoba in London you must visit!
By the way they have Cholula hot sauce! seriously stoked
Tristan
A truly tasty treat. Chilango is most certainly the finest, tastiest and enjoyable place to grab a quick healthy bite in London. Since moving to London, over two years ago, I have been on the hunt for a top notch burrito establishment and was recently delighted to find Chilango on Fleet Street. Both the staff and the quality of food really deliver. Myself and three friends recently took in a few of Fleet Streets watering holes before feeling rather peckish and decided to sample Chilango. Chilango was about to close but fortunately the charming staff decided to accommodate four hungry customers. The food was perfect and we could even have one more beer for the road. I couldn't recommend the place more highly and it has become one of my favourite places in London to grab a quick healthy dinner.
Angela
Best Burritos in London!. I've been in search of good Mexican food in London for some time now, but my search is over. After sampling many of the competition's burritos, I'm convinced that no one can top Chilango. Don't be scared off by queues out the door, the staff is super efficient and really keeps the crowd moving. Plus, it's well worth the wait!
Dave
Amazing. Lovely place, we go out in Angel a lot and stopped in one afternoon. Food is lovely, portions are massive and its very reasonable with a great atmosphere.

The perfect place to stop off for a quick bite to eat

London's answer to Chipotle!. Have been looking for an equivalent to Chipotle which I fell in love with on a trip to the U.S, so am delighted to have found Chilango! Excellent chicken burrito, friendly staff, colourful space to sit upstairs and I even managed to eat a whole burrito - something I struggled with in the US! Yummy!
Dislexia20
Best Mexican food!. If you've not been yet, I would suggest everyone who loves Mexican food to check this place out! It's without a doubt the best. They put a lot of care into theire food, but also the staff are very friendly and prices are affordable.
Jenn
Could eat it everyday!!. Two words AMAZING FOOD!! Since coming to London I have been on a search to find a restaurant that offers great Mexican food. I recently was introduced to Chilango and have been happy ever since. The combination of great food and great vibe makes this place one to come back to over and over.
Rich
Chilango. Awesome place - great food, big portions and lovely atmosphere. I will be back
Stu
Fan of Mexican food? You will be!. Went to Chilango's with a few mates for some food before a night out - the burritos are just amazing, and really well priced too. The food tasted great, and really fresh, the staff were helpful and friendly and there's some nice Mexican beers to boot. Forget going to your standard fast food restaurants, Chilango is the way forward.

Delicious, Nutritious, Fresh and Filling. I've visited twice now, and both times have been very impressed by how such a simple idea is so well executed. It was a great lunch while shopping and on another occasion, a quick dinner when I needed to eat in time for a 7 pm movie. I was super impressed that the chefs are in a kitchen right next to the food preparation so you can see that everything is super fresh.
And in case it matters to you (because it is a maker or a breaker for me) - they have very nice clean loos.
I would totally recommend it!
Dominique
Excellent fresh tasting food.. I have been to this restaurant a few times and every time have been fully satisfied. The food is excellent, very fresh and tasty. The staff are all friendly and the service is good too. Also, it is very good value and worth every penny, its not expensive and you get a large meal for it!

I highly recommend it.

Chliango- Ace Lunch. I totally have to recommend Chilango on the eesex road near Angel tube. It's absolutely yummy and really reasonably priced for what you get. You're left full up for the rest of the day and it's all healthy too.
I get the veg burrito and my boyfriend normally gets something suitably manly with meat in it, so we don't have to fight over what type of place we go to or lunch. Both options are under a fiver.
I can't handle too much spice and so you can choose how hot you want it. Considering what you'd pay for a supermarket sandwich, this is amazing value and so tasty and yummy! Go check it out for yourself!

If you've contemplated about going to Chilango...contemplate no more! Just go! The food is really, really good and I am addicted to their burritos. I had never heard of burittos until I met my American boyfriend and he told me all about them. We eat in Chilango all the time now and have been loyal customers for a couple of years (when it was previously called Mucho Mas). The staff are friendly, the prices are affordable (no rip offs) and the seating in and out the restaurant is always clean. A great place to go for any meal of the day!

Www.foodtripper.com's verdict!. Chilango
Long a presence on Islington's Upper Street, Chilango is the result of a complete makeover and expansion into Fleet Street. This is a hot, hot, hot, designer Mexican lunch option that's taken the area by storm. Everything is prepared and cooked in the kitchen behind a glass screen viewable to the queuing public. The menu is simple, offering tacos, salads and tortilla chips, but when the burritos are this good, why complicate things? Fillings range from marinated chicken to juicy grilled steak and a vegetarian option. Coriander lime rice and beans are liberally perked up with spiced salsa (of varying heats) helping to ttop things off spectacularly. Everything is well-sourced, the vibe is catchy and the likely queues are worth joining.

Chilango's is ace. This place is just awesome; I took some clients here and they spoiled us rotten. Fantastic food, amazing service, and they made a real effort with one of my guests who is a fussy eater. Highly recommended, I'll defo be going again.
Reception
Chilango. Throughly enjoyed my first visit. A great place to stop off to grab a bite when time isn't on you're side. Would highly recommend the 'aqua fresca' and steak burrito...although be warned the 'hot' salsa is exactly that..even for an indian who loves chilli like me...

Chilango. This place is great - I love the burritos, particularly the pork one: the meat is so tender and juicy. Good Mexican beers too. Service is quick and friendly.

Absolutely delicious! Finally there's a great Mexican place in London. Had a fantastic burrito which was packed full of flavour. Can't wait to go back.

Best burrito in London......if not the world :). Okay, maybe there's a better burrito of this style out there but I have yet to find it. The food at Chilango is always fresh, super tasty, and worth every pence. To be honest, sometimes I think the burritos are TOO big but when I'm done I am always satisfied. The steak is juicy, tender, and has a robust meat flavor, the chicken has a great barbecue taste and the pork is mouth-wateringly delicious. Unlike many places in the UK, they don't hold back on the spice, either -- the hot sauce has got a great kick to it while still maintaining a good flavour. The staff is always friendly and I really enjoy the vibe of the restaurant, very hip and "cool." Try the margaritas......they don't skimp on the booze :).

Went to this restaurant only because my work colleague was talking nicely about it. Being myself Mexican and a true chilango (from Mexico city) I was expecting good Mexican food, well at least decent and at moderate prices, my surprise came when I realize this place is everything but Mexican, food is terrible with ridiculously small portions (I could count the pieces of beef the Chinese guy was adding to my tacos, then in a Subways copy-cat style the next in the mass production line, a Spanish lady was asking me if I wanted 'wacamole', I said yes and got charged extra. Anyway, I paid £8.5 for the smallest, coldest and poorest 3 tacos I have ever eaten plus and a drink, and went sat next my colleague who was then realizing what a rip off this restaurant is, I struggled to eat my tacos as beef was as hard as a shoe sole! Unfortunately I have nothing good to say about a restaurant owned by an English and an American Mexican wannabes, I mean what on earth do they know about Mexican food? I know their market is not the typical Mexican guy like me but people who take anything wrapped in a tortilla as an elaborate delicacy... don't get fooled by this tex-mex place disguised as true Mexican, the only Mexican thing in there is the beer but you can get it at your local shop anyway for half the price. There are better restaurants out there, don't waste your money at Chilango...

Inside, I was struck by deja vu. Turns out that Chilango is a name-changed, redecorated Mucho Mas, which I reviewed 3 years ago. The same owners, the same Subway-style production line, the same free water and expensive Negro Modello, the same extra charge for guacamole (£1). The menu is broadly along the same lines, offering the choice of burritos, tacos, salad or totopos. I went for the latter a

All in all a supremely messy but pretty tasty lunch.

The meat was juicy and rare, and the chunky guac was the perfect antidote to the spicy salsa. It's seriously dirty food, but oh so good. There's no dainty way of eating a burrito, so you just have to pick up lots of napkins and try not to be embarrassed if you end up with sour cream all over your face.

You can taste all the ingredients and all are fresh. Hot sauce not mind-blowing but stays with you for the duration of the meal and little bit more. Nice grilled steak a pleasure to eat down.

Chilango is a popular burrito joint located on Islington's busy upper street. It opened up about a year ago (or is it already 2 years ago?) and has been receiving rave reviews ever since.

I have to be honest, I am a bit of a burrito virgin. I have had one before but it was nothing memorable. They seem to be far more popular these days. In fact, burrito "emporiums" are popping up all over the city to satisy the appetites of Londons workers.

Delicious and satisfying, you will roll out of here. The steak burrito is so good and juicy and flavourful that I want already another even if I'm stuffed to the brim. I finally found one of the best Mexican chain in town, the food is fantastic, the queuing fast, the staff friendly and the portions will leave you full till after dinner time.

For a good fast burrito and a Negra Modelo it's pretty great.
at first sight it definitely catches your eye for it's bright colors and very catchy interior, love the design and concept they have going,
The line is fast and the quality is good, their pork belly is amazing and definitely worth trying. Only downside is the extra charge for guacamole and the salsa isn't spicy at all and I'm talking about the spicy one they have... Really could have some extra heat!
All in all a positive experience.
Total cost for one burrito with guacamole and a Negra model: 12£

Chilango is a Mexican cuisine that not only diminishes your hunger but also soothes your soul. You can choose between ordering a taco, burrito, salad and nachos, while also personally choosing it’s contents (think Mexican Subway).

Though it’s around £6 for a meal, if you eat there at lunchtime then you won’t be thinking about eating again until late evening. Also, don’t be put off by the queues; the lines may seem lengthy but you’ll be served in less than 10 minutes.

For all the veggies out there, the medium vegetarian burrito never fails to satisfy (and you can easily wrap it up to eat later if you’re too full to finish).

I have yet to find a better Mexican chain in London, used to go here at least twice a week during my lunch break.

There is forever a void inside of me that can only be filled by Chilango’s steak burrito (with rice, black beans, cheese and guacamole.) The burritos are big enough to fit snugly in both hands, cradle them as you would your favourite child.

I always like going to Chilango with my female friends whenever we're in Islington - that and Starbucks. I would always go for the chicken burrito, with mild slash, cheese, guacamole and sour cream and the refill cups. Perfect. It's chilled and super fast. The epitome of fast food.

When I first moved to London I was burrito mad, with so many options to choose from! Chilango is my favourite so far out of the ones I've tried although I've yet to try Chipotle - it's on the to-do! I always go for a chicken burrito with beans and lots of cheese. A personal fave. However it will never have anything on my favourite burrito restaurant of all, Mission Burrito!

Chilango was amongst the first Mexican joints to open up as part of the new craze for takeaway quick service burrito places (read - poncho 8, chipotle, chilango). The restaurant in the city on Fleet Street is no wonder synonymous with long queues at lunch time - since the food here is surprisingly very good despite their model of trying to make it as fast as they do.

I would go as far as saying that amongst the competition - chilango probably comes out on top for the best burrito. And this one in angel is always a nice choice to go to either on weekends or weekday evenings as its never over crowded either and one can always find a place to sit and eat.
