Amazing place in London. I love the food. can’t wait to come back here again. Congratulations to the staff.
Perfection !! From beginning to end! I can’t wait to go again although I have to admit that it is way to expensive but we all enjoyed every moment and the perfection of English service, food and tea!! Such a nice place and kids friendly if ur kids are well mannered 😉
Dear Diary,
The best for the last! Sadly I am leaving London tonight but it’s been an amazing 10 days trip meeting fantastic people, doing good work and mainly eating super food! This afternoon, we went to The Berkeley where they have the Pret- A- Portea going on. It's their 10th Anniversary and this afternoon tea is a delicate collection of cakes and fancies, inspired by the world’s finest designers. Our Afternoon Tea started with an amazing plate of mini sandwiches and burgers, along with a steaming pot of tea. The sandwiches included chicken, duck, salmon, egg and mayo and a pesto one too. They were all beyond yummy. Then came the highlight- our dessert stand! Every dessert on that tray was a piece of art and I am only going to mention a few of them! Burberry’s classic trench coat taking the form of a chocolate biscuit with creamy royal icing, Jimmy Choo’s glittery gala pointed- toe shoe in velvet praline cream cake with hazelnut with hazelnut croquant. Other desserts were inspired by Monolo Blahnik, Lanvin, Moschino and the list goes on! You get the idea? Perfect afternoon for someone who loves shopping and food! Yes, it’s a pinch on your pocket but once in a while indulgence is necessary, right? So goodbye London, see you very soon again!
All the fuss about this restaurant is what got me hyped in the first place. Someone's taste in food I trust recommended this place to me. This is a fancy place so put your fancy pants on and dress classy. The interiors are beautifully decorated with a modern touch to it. The service is quite good but for a fine dining restaurant I expect the waiters/waitress to WRITE DOWN MY ORDER not to memorise it. I'm going to be honest, although they didn't write the order down, everything I ordered was on the table but again for a fine dining restaurant I don't think this manner is acceptable. Anyways, the staff is really hospitable and welcoming. The vibes are so professional and fancy.
Appetisers
Burrata: The burrata was tasty but not as LPM to be honest. It was tasty though, not bad at all! 4/5
Beetroot salad: To me, I didn't like the salad much but it was good/acceptable 3/5
Qinoa salad: the chef has made a unique touch to the classic salad. He has added of what seems like apple to it which added a much more sweeter and delicious element to the salad. Loved it 4.5/5
Mains
Angus Burguer: the dish is basically 5 mini burgers served with French fries. The burgers were juicy and absolutely tasty. My taste buds couldn't resist the spectacular mouthwatering beef 5/5
Pink Sauce Penne: this was not written on the menu but the staff agreed on doing one for my partner which opted for one since her last visit. Anyways, the penne was delicious and the sauce was not heavy at all. My partner said that she would come for more! 4.5/5
Pizza Margharitta: the pizza was good but to be honest I had much better at other pizzerias. 3.75/5!
Beef Fillet Steak: I being a steak expert absolutely fell in love with this dish. I had requested it to be cooked "well done". The meat was soft, juicy, mouthwatering and dangerously scrumptious. It was served with what looks like mayonnaise added with some kind of herbs. Loved the combination! 4.25/5!
Drinks
Berry berry: this is their signature drink which my partner as well as the staff suggested so I had to fight the urge of not ordering drinks for I am not a juice person. I'm going to be sincere in this review and I have to say that it didn't live to its reputation. I was half disappointed with this. The drink had a weird taste which wasn't my type maybe others would like it but not me. Sorry :( 2.5/5!
Cake. That’s what this blog post is about. And lot’s of it. Because that is what what Prêt-à-Portea at The Berkeley is all about. I’d been looking forward to this occasion so much. I’d been to afternoon tea at other fancy pants hotels in London, but Prêt-à-Portea is THE one that had been on my list forever.
Been here for the Prêt - á -portea at The Berkley !
Outsanding cakes and sandwich options! A really hip concept for any fashionista!
The staff are really friendly and the restaurant has a very sophisticated air to it- especially during the afternoon tea.
The price is towards the higher end so I would recommend it to try out for a fun experience, but I'm not so sure if I want to go running back there again!
I came to the Caramel Room for the famous Pret a Portea and it did not disappoint.
We arrived at the Caramel Room and were escorted to our table. To my delight, I had a personalised reservation in my name waiting on our table. I’m a sucker for the little things! We chose the £39 afternoon, but for an extra £10 you could decide to make it a Champagne afternoon tea with a glass of Laurent Perrier.
At your table, you are presented with a booklet to explain the inspiration and themes behind this season’s treats. Every six months the menu changes to keep up with the changing fashion seasons. For this season, our tea included a chocolate biscuit heel inspired by Manolo Blahnik, a Tory Burch magenta bikini biscuit, a Jason Wu coconut hatbox, Dolce and Gabbana pistachio panna cotta, Alexander McQueen honeycomb cream, and a Balenciaga chocolate mousse and brownie, just to name a few.
I tried to be adventurous and strayed away from my regular Earl Grey tea and tried a herbal infusion of Posh Pomelo and Melon tea. It was like a party in a glass. I decided not to get a refill (the infusion tasted like sweets after awhile) which they happily took away and replaced with my beloved Earl Grey.
Like the tea, the food was also refreshed. I didn’t care for the cucumber gazpacho, so they took this out and replaced it with extra roasted vegetable tarts. After two helpings of sandwiches and a refill on all the mini treats, my belly was bursting. I highly reccomend the taster spoon of foie gras with a mysterious condiment – it was as if Willy Wonka himself had made a magic spoon that tasted just like a roast dinner.
You do need to book in advance here but I had only booked a couple of weeks beforehand for 2 people on a Sunday afternoon. Any leftovers are placed in pretty little handbag shaped boxes for you to take home and show off to your friends.
Did I miss the scones and clotted cream? Definitely not- and it’s not just the lactose thing either. For a bit of quirk and charm, I’d pick the Berkeley for tea any day.
My flatmate (and fellow birthdate buddy) and I, had been researching places all over London for the past couple of months and with such a vast selection to dig through, we finally narrowed it down to one fabulous hotel located in Knightsbridge - The Berkeley's FASHIONISTA'S AFTERNOON TEA.
Prêt-à-Portea is their latest and greatest creation. With an assortment of colours and themes inspired by the worlds finest fashion designers. If you're a fashionista then this would be right up your alley.
After being seated on a luxurious caramel coloured leather chair, we were welcomed with of complimentary glass of Laurent Perrier bubbles and some brightly coloured green menus awaiting our our perusal.
Leading designers such as Jimmy Choo, Alexandra McQueen, Valentino and my favourite man of fashion at the moment, Moschino have all been used to create some mouthwatering cakes, elegant canapés and fancies for your tasting pleasure.
A selection of tea sandwiches were bought to the table first, followed by a beautifully presented three tier cake plate.
A vintage tea pot of Opulent orange chilli tea was ordered and we were all set to go. All the china here is designed by Paul Smith, so quality has not been spared.
We came up with a divided strategy to eat 1-2 savoury then change it up with something sweet. Its all about life balances as they say :)
Matthew Williamson Macaroon, Moschino 'Yellow M' handbag of blood orange and victorian sponge cake, Creamy than creamier goats cheese and chutney together with Dolce & Gabbana's whimsical owl with blackcurrant flavours of the forest and milk chocolate sprinkles are just some of the wonderful creations the Berkeley have come up with.
Everything is constantly replenished, so as to be expected, you will no doubt over eat and why not I say, it cant be helped when you are surrounded by such good looking pieces of food art.
Another option is to bundle up the left overs in a cutesy fuchsia cardboard bag to take away with you. Just another glamorous touch that the Berkeley has to offer.
Top notch service, sophistication and pure elegance. A wonderful way to spend a birthday or any afternoon for that matter. Don't forget to take a few snaps in the front foyer before you leave. Their flowers are designed by Mcqueen's and I believe, are some of the best arrangements around. Just gorgeous!
There is a wonderful selection of teas on offer, including a selection of fruity teas which are served in tall latte glasses...
Afternoon Tea at The Berkeley takes place in the Caramel Room and is aptly named Prêt-à-Portea. Each part of the tea has been designed with various top fashion designers in mind. We had a lovely table by the window which was so well presented. The menus were brightly coloured and inside was a bright and bold fashion slogan. Mine read ‘WORK IT’ and Danny’s read ‘STRIKE A POSE’, I loved it already! The menu sounded amazing...
There are different themed afternoon teas in London but probably none like the one in The Berkeley. The Pret-a-Portea Afternoon Tea in their Caramel Room is perfect for every fashion aficionados
The service and it was brilliant and the decoration was beautiful the black card was perfect I love the à la cart menu. Highly recommend going here on a nice romantic date.
I recently tried this place and was totally impressed by the exclusive experience. The food is excellent, especially the sandwiches and pastries which are cooked to perfection. The ambience is wonderful with beautiful decor and exudes an exclusive appeal. I would love to visit this place again.
Pret-a-Portea is definitely one of the most cute places I have visited by far. Located centrally, this place is very reachable and convenient. This place possesses amazing desserts variety to choose from. The food that I had ordered was amazing and tasted amazing. The authenticity of the taste has been maintained very well and the pricing has been done keeping people's budget in mind so it is quite pocket friendly. Recommended.
I have always had a delightful experience whenever i come to this place. If you want to enjoy a hot cup of tea along with some freshly baked pastries overlooking a beautiful environment, then this is the place to be. The snack menu also seems good and i would try few of them on my next visits. Service has always been quick and efficient. Highly recommended!!
I love this place for their delicious little sandwiches and their cakes and cookies. This is a perfect spot to take your partner out for a date, and have a really fun time. The service was amazing, and after we were offered a refill of almost everything we ordered, we asked for the bill and it was presented to us in cute little take-away bags. It was an amazing experience and I would love to visit this place again.
The place has a lovely ambiance and a beautiful decor which is very pleasing and pleasant. The service is great and the staff is hospitable, friendly and very knowledgeable. The staff made sure we had a nice time and made us feel very comfortable. The food as well as the tea was outstanding. I would definitely visit this place again and will surely recommend it.
One of my favorite cafes that serve excellent tea and coffee. They have a nice and sweet collection of sweets and mini sandwiches also. The desserts are delicious. The must try are the pink polka dot cakes and the various flavors of tea. The cafe is a gem with beautiful view and a calm ambiance.
I was looking forward to my my tea here and was a little disappointed. The food was not all that good, but had very fancy names all inspired by fashion lines of world famous designers, some of the cakes looked exquisite too, with the elaborate and detailed designing.
I had gone to this place with my family. The food was absolutely delicious. The staff was also nice and the service provided by them was excellent. They kept refilling when they saw that our plates were empty. They also gave some goodies to take home with us . Overall, a brilliant experience indeed.
We visited a couple of restaurants and places that served desserts and of all the places we had visited Caramel Room turned out to be the one which possessed a wide range and variety of desserts. Hence, we had ordered a few desserts which eventually turned out to be bland and vague. I held my hopes high due to their wide variety but the serving style and bland taste killed it all. I would rate it average.
This is a afternoon themes tea place like many others in London but according to me I really loved the flavors here.
The view was good and same goes for the staff . I really liked Pret-a-Portea here and that is a must try .
They have a caramel room which is a good touch.
If you want to have a good time then this place is surely for you.
Lovely and stylish afternoon tea!
Pastries are very fashionable and exquisite. I particularly loved the fact that they put in so much effort in designing them.
The signature Caramel Indulgence was absolutely heaven. I was so full after the whole course. And I was very hungry before I started. Worth every penny!
Usually have to be booked in advance. However, it is a must-try in London!
Brought a friend from out of town to try their afternoon tea (Prêt-à-Portea). The food was abundant, everything totally Instagram-friendly, and service was good enough. Really great place to treat yourself and a guest to a fashionable experience.

Had a lovely afternoon tea with a friend here, service is great, I couldn't eat the sweets as was already full but happy to take home. Lovely atmosphere, I don't drink champagne do they erred happy to find a solution for it.
Pret-A-Portea- a 5* experience! Really tasty sandwiches and canapes followed by some very tasty & amazingly looking, out of a fashion catalogue cakes. Straight from the catwalk to your plate. A feast for the eyes and the soul. The service is spot on and OMG, the bathrooms are the true definition of lush! Felt very welcomed, looked after and had a really good time!
Went to try their Pret- a- portea. Service was impeccable (one of the best I’ve ever had). Food wise, everything was pretty good but nothing stellar, out of this world. I would recommend going for the experience (it’s very unique and different from high tea in other venues) but will probably not do it again (72£ per person thought it was a bit steep but then again high tea in London is usually expensive at these types of places).
Had afternoon tea here, it was incredible. 10/10 would recommend to anyone
We visited again for pret-a-portea and it was just as good as the first visit. Amazing food, tea and service. Will be going here anytime we're in London.
Original: We came here for afternoon tea, which was currently serving a Dior themed version, and it was absolutely fantastic. The service, the food, the teas, all outstanding. The ambiance of the room was also great, lively but not loud. Would return here for tea, drinks or food in a heartbeat. The only potential negative is the price, come here expecting to leave with a respectable bill.
I came here mainly for afternoon tea. This used to be Caramel Room. It has now changed to a full restaurant. It has a beautiful and charming room and ambiance. Professional service. The patisserie is beautifully prepared and presented. In fact, they are pieces of art. However, when it comes to taste they are average including the sandwiches which are even below average. Even the cakes have lost their wow effect. So it is form over substance. Large selection of teas. So, good to come once but would not crave it.
I do go for several afternoon teas, and I have to say to date this has been my absolute favourite. I really think that the atmosphere and the very helpful and friendly staff played a big role. It was the little things that made us feel special, for instance:
We walked in through the side entrance by mistake and asked one of the staff for directions to the Collins Room, and they kindly took the time to walk us there personally and hand us over. Same goes for when I asked for directions to the loo, no pointing and muttering directions here, the staff would help you navigate your way around the beautiful building.
The spanish gentleman who served us for the day was very funny, polite and had perfect attention to detail.
Upon arrival at our table it was lovely to find little touches like a personalised name card waiting for us at the table, a little booklet describing the fashion inspiration behind the desserts and even a hand written birthday card as we were celebrating.
I really enjoyed all the flavours of the sandwiches and we had to go for seconds for the salmon and chicken.
The coffee was delicious and brewed at the table and the scent was mesmerising!
And finally came the showstopper, the beautifully plated array of desserts inspired by Valentino, Isabel Marant, Versace, Moschino and so forth. It was not just a feast for the eyes as the flavours were divine too!
A bite from Anna Wintours cookie face went well with the coffee, but my personal favourite was the purple ensemble with the beriolette jelly centre.
They change the desserts and the designers with each season so I definitely I will be back for another intriguing afternoon.
We are regular visitors at The Berkeley and have to say that on this occasion we had the best time and also received the best service to date, that is not to say that the previous occasions were bad as had they been we would not be returning customers. However, on this occasion Carlos who served us diligently and with great professionalism ensured that we all had food and drink aplenty, what made this even more challenging was having two very hungry young men in our party of five that he kept satisfied, which was no easy task. So a massive shout out to 'Carlos' for the phenomenal service throughout our time there.
The sandwiches were as always exquisite, we requested Halal food when booking and I myself requested on the day oatmilk coffees and Gluten free bread for my sandwiches to he prepared in. All were served in a very professional and timely manner. When requesting extra sandwiches I was delighted to see that I was provided with the whole range of sandwiches rather than the two or three I had requested, my sons were also provided with more than they had asked for which was very pleasing. All the sandwiches were eaten with great satisfaction.
The desserts were absolutely sublime, from the biscuit to the cheesecake made in the shape of a strawberry to the pistachio cake to the mango and exotic fruit cake. The flavours in the cakes were just perfect with no flavour being so overpowering that it interfered with the pallette to a level where other items could not be enjoyed. Some of the cakes we were unable to finish and so were packed in a delightful box for us to take home and enjoy later.
Just as we thought we had finished Carlos surprised us further with plain and raisin scones, clotted cream and an array of jams. Even after eating the sandwiches, cakes, teas and coffees who can resist a warm freshly baked scone? We couldn't and as a result they were eaten with much joy on the faces of all.
The pictures are of an oatmilk flat white, gluten free sandwiches with a bowl of quinoa and artichoke and a salad consisting of pickled cherry tomatoes, radish and cucumbers, the individual desserts in honour of a catwalk with designs from Moschino and Valentino amongst others and last but not least the fresh scones with clotted cream and jams.
As it was our daughter's 25th birthday the staff in the Collins Room surprised her with a little plate of her own with a personalised message and a delightful little cake for her and on the table when we arrived was a personalised birthday card wishing her a happy birthday from all in The Collins Room.
Overall an absolutely fantastic afternoon tea and a perfect way to spend our daughters 25th birthday. Thank you The Colling Room and The Berkeley Hotel.
The Collins Room at The Berkeley in London is a must-visit for anyone looking for an unforgettable dining experience. The restaurant boasts an amazing ambiance that perfectly complements the excellent chef menu.
I highly recommend the Collins Room at The Berkeley for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience in London. The restaurant's great ambiance, excellent chef menu, and top-notch service make it a must-visit for foodies and anyone looking for a special night out.
Love this place food and drinks were delicious, decor just everything was amazing. I enjoyed my time , just a shame about one of the female waiters who had a bad attitude when we told her the total amount of the receipt was incorrect and that we received complementary drinks to our table which she could clarify with her colleague.
She printed out a new receipt and slammed it on our table and walked away. Me and my friends were taken aback by this as we were not rude to her. I felt like and in my opinion, if we looked like the rest of the clientle that was in the room we wouldn't have got such treatment.
All in all I would still go back, as I loved the ambience, food etc.
The Collins Room, formerly known as The Caramel Room, in the recently renovated Berkeley Hotel has a chic contemporary interior that evokes a timeless appeal.
The restaurant has an all-day British menu that sources natural ingredients from forests, fields, seashores and streams.
My companion and I couldn’t resist ordering the 8oz organic Angus beef burger which came with French fries and onion rings. However, we both opted for the fresh and luscious salad instead of the onion rings. The beef was juicy and flavoursome and had a sweet pickle homemade relish on the side. The hand-cut chips were light and flawlessly crispy.
With mains ranging from £23.00 - £37.00, burgers at £28.00 and desserts at £14.00, prices are quite expensive. If you’re looking to spend lavishly on organic burgers rather than reasonably priced burger places, then I highly recommend The Berkeley Collins!
I took my teenage girls with me to the most wonderful afternoon tea. Thank you .
Felt like a royal! Great afternoon tea (fashion themed) Delicious food and massive tea selection!
Yet another extremely enjoyable prêt-à-portea. I have been close to thirty times and this still remains one of the most imaginative takes on afternoon tea. Well done!
The staff are really nice.
The tables are kind of close together for breakfast.
The food was okay. The eggs and toast were honestly not the best I've had in London.
The matcha was okay. And the pancake was okay. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat breakfast here, but I did like the vibe and how clean the place was.
