Authentic italian café to stop by for a snack and/or coffee. Looks like it hasn't changed in 100 years, it's great to see that Soho has not out gentrified places like this.
Best coffee in London hands down- aided by the suave Italian baristas and charming waiters. Would come here for a morning perk up again- for the beautiful coffee, enticing pastries and an entertaining chat with lovely Italians.
This place hasn't changed since it first opened way back went. It is an amazing, traditional Italian coffee shop. All the staff are Italian and all the food they serve is traditional Italian. They do hot food as well as cakes and sweet treats. They make proper good Italian coffees, the espressos are so good. The cannoli are delicious, even the staff devour them! There are seats outside to watch the world go by but the best thing to do is grab a seat at the long espresso bar inside and watch the interactions of the staff and step back in time and imagine you are in Naples. The coffee and cakes are expensive but totally worth it.
Fantastic if it's late and you're hungry and you just need something and feel like pizza and you want somewhere secluded and don't mind fruit machines and you're not picky. Probably not as good sober.
A lovely morning starts with a coffee at Bar Italia in London. This cafe in Soho has delicious espresso and it's also recommended by Anthony Bourdain.?
They were first opened in 1949 and since then they promise to serve the best quality coffee. The baristas here would prepare your coffee just the way you like it. And all espresso based coffee is really delicious.
I usually prefer to have Latte here. Do yourself a favour, take a coffee break and have a yummy Latte at Bar Italia, instead of the coffee chains.??

Real italian bar in london. Unbelievable!!!
Sit outside and watch the world go by. Great coffee, lovely staff. Go where the locals go!
Best place to have coffee in Soho!
Relaxed & friendly atmosphere. Great place to chill out & watch the world go by with company or alone! 100% authentic Italian! Really feels like being in Italy! Excellent service & friendly staff. Cappuccinos are frothy and taste far better than well known...
Watched the Balotelli Show again Germany during Euro2012 here, and had a fantastic experience. Went there extra early to get some carbs beforehand and was amazed with all the Italian memorabilia all over.
One of the best carbonara I ever in had in London was here. The service was understandably a bit rushed since they were busy moving tables and clearing up areas for people to watch the game inside. Within an hour or so, the whole street was packed and the win just meant the party got started right after.
A must visit if you like Italian food, culture or Football.
What can I say about Bar Italia that hasn't been said before? The neon is iconic and the coffee is definitely Italian (frothy cappuccinos, not a flat white to be seen).
Go here for people watching, you'll feel like you stumbled round a corner from London and into Rome: equal parts tacky and chic, and, besides the tourists, it'll be full of Italians all shouting and flirting with one another. I've never had anything but a black coffee here but to do the thing right, you should probably indulge in a piece of tiramisu too.
Finally I managed to try out the timeless Bar Italia. It's an authentic Italian coffee place, frequented by mostly Italians from London. I felt like I was back in Naples being surrounded by a selection of historical memorabilia on the walls. Good coffee, lively italian atmosphere and great for people watching!
Awesome place especially at 3 am when you are done partying and the espresso along with the tiramisu ends the night on a good nite bang in the middle of Soho..
Excellent coffee and a great place to sit outside and watch the world go by.
I have only ever been here at about 3 am after a night out in soho. This is a great place for late night munchies. The pizza is actually pretty delicious and the staff are friendly, especially considering the state of some of the punters at this time in the morning. I would be interested to see what this place is like during the day.
When we think coffee nowadays we think Costa, Starbucks, Nero, Pret a Manger etc.
For quality, though, it's the small independents that still do the brew best. And in London the undisputed king for over 60 years has been Bar Italia.
The most evocative Italian business in Britain with its stands of Vespas parked in front on Frith Street, the old Gaggia coffee machine on the counter and the huge framed picture of Rocky Marciano with his proud, undefeated fight record plotted out beneath it, Bar Italia is an icon of coffee.
And the community that has sprung up around it and given it its bustle attracts people from around the world. It has been sung about (Pulp), painted and is currently the basis of a musical being written by Dave Stewart.
The coffee shop has been in the same family (the Polledris) since it opened in 1949 to cater to the large Italian community then living in Soho (It occupies the building where John Logie Baird first demonstrated TV).
Go in today and you'll find a lot of it unchanged since that time, but much has been added and the decorations around the walls are a time capsule of life in London.
As well as the excellent coffee they do a great line in cakes and biscuits to go with your brew.
To be honest I stopped using Starbucks when I found out they weren't paying any tax, while small coffee shops went to the wall unable to compete with the big chains. I've thought a lot more since then about what type of businesses I want to support, and decided quite firmly it's the ones with character and quality.
This is the daddy of them.
I like coming here. I like drinking Cappuccino and Bar Italia has never failed me. Pasta dishes are very very delicious. Particularly Torta Della is my favourite.
The coffee was really good. I was impressed. I also really liked the vibe of the cafe, it’s one of those authentic Italian cafes. The only comment I have is that the staff did not respond very welcoming, it influenced the experience a bit but the coffee and the atmosphere made up for it. Would recommend if you are looking for a great coffee place.
We also wanted to get some cannolis but they where a bit out of the budget.
When I walked in, there was not that busy.
I had a single expresso, a tiramisu, and a cannoli siciliano. They were the best I had in my life.
The crema was sooo creamy, the coffee and liquor just matched each other, and the mouth feel was good, and cream in cannoli was so nice. I stayed a bit while and saw guests coming in, soon they filled up the bar with a queue.
It must be the magic of the food and the barista who acted so friendly and true.
I will visit again next time I visit London.
Good vibes!
This might be the oldest Italian bar in London, but I'm not certain. However, they serve one of the best tiramisu that you can find in London. Their espresso is also noteworthy, adding to the overall pleasant Italian experience you can have there in Soho. I highly recommend this bar.
Carnival Atmosphere! Excellent coffee & Baristas. A must stop late night London.
Best coffee I’ve ever tasted in London felt like I was back in Rome!! The tiramisu was to die for !
Nice old atmospheric place in Soho, though a bit expensive for coffees, we paid £9 for two double espressos (incl service charge)
Authenticity at its best. Established in 1949 and continues to provide outstanding coffee, light food, delicatessen and service.
Situated in Soho, has become an icon that adds to the buzz of the area. Had a very good experience and the lady who looked after us was lovely and helpful.
Absolutely the best coffee around and the cannolis are amazing. I always feel disappointed if I go to London and do not visit.
Great place in the heart of Soho, a proper authentic cafe bar steeped in history. Superb mocha, friendly and helpful staff, good atmosphere, decor is cool, some amazing photos on the walls of times gone by and local characters. Brilliant spot to sit outside and watch the world go by.
Bella, bella!
❤🤍💙
Authentic Italian coffee bar in Soho with a beautiful and nostalgic vibe. Dolce Vita inspired music, Italian pastries and very interesting visual merchandising. A must visit destination in Central London that can’t be missed
Requested chicken escalope to be toasted extra hot (as I like it warm & crispy). Lovely lunch, lovely coffee (Almond milk thank you), lovely service. Always a pleasure
Every time I visit London and stay in Soho, I go here. Best coffee. Real coffee. Double espresso is delicious.
Exceptional coffee place in Soho.
Every time we visit London, you can guarantee that we enjoy a cofé in Bar Italia and most probably we have a pizza too for breakfast. And depending on my mood I have a Cognac to wake up my insight spirit.
Very good service.
Great bar and service I bought a beer and sat outside to enjoy the last of the mild weather.
