Nice sushi, affordable prices. Most of the time there is a queue outside but the food is worth waiting for.

Visited the place on recommendation by a friend. It is advisable to make reservations because the place is usually full. A very authentic feel when you enter the restaurant, prominent one being g the smell raw fish. Being vegetarians i was glad booking was at the top floor so the smell died out. Ordered the avocado, cucumber & veg tempura sushi (small portions but yummm) also had a portion of pan fried veg dumplings (can be skipped). There was a bit of a mix up with our order and some delay but the servers were very helpful and polite. I sure would recommend the place to sushi lovers!

Busy restaurant on a Friday night in Soho. Good quality sushi and ambiance. Prompt service however staff could be more friendly. Price was average for sushi.

Loved their sushi though I’m usually very picky about sea food smelling and not really much of a sushi person. I also loved their bento boxes and miso soup. Will defi visit again.

A pretty popular Japanese diner with many branches around London, Eat Tokyo has won a few famous awards for their beautifully presented sushis and is relatively cheap for an easy, satisfying bento box. They also have a variety of seafood, and in general, a very large encompassing menu that is sure to satisfy your cravings for quick, tasty Asian food. But the quintessential point of this review is the DOUBLE CURRY. So without further ado, let’s introduce the double curry.

So we entered this restaurant as an interim waiting spot as my friend and I had queued for another restaurant but that was a 45-50min wait. I've seen people queue for Eat Tokyo in the past so I knew this is a good alternative ! The place looks very ordinary from the outside .. and you wonder what the queues are for !

As we sat down there was a huge HUGE menu filled with good looking sushi rolls and mouth watering pictures . So we picked "chef's special rolls".. and orders Tokyo Dragon and Rainbow roll, while our neighbours ordered like a million things !

First bite into the roll, and we were in a trance ! We knew there was a possibility we wouldn't go to the other restaurant. Fortunately they didn't get back to us soon, and then we lingered on- ordered the HYPER ROLL, Gyu don! And thank god we stopped at that! But the rolls .. are AMAZING ! the portion of gyun don was large but very well made . I know I want it try their caterpillar and a couple of other rolls in the future! Our neighbours ordered mussels and some grilled aubergine and it all looked wonderful!

All in all.. this place is a sushi heaven .. and offers much more ! Very much recommended !

My jaw dropped when I saw the size of the Eat Tokyo katsu curry of my neighbour. £9 gets you an insanely large bowl with surely what must be a kilo of rice, curry and what, five individual breasts of chicken? It’s all so overwhelming and the smells were alright. I was a bit more tamer with my selection. But still ended up spending about the same, for my chicken karage donburi. I substituted the sushi for some pickles and it was a huge portion, with salad and agedashi tofu as well. The flavours were good and there was a lot of them. I did have a salty aftertaste later on, so may be MSG-y or maybe it was salt. Can’t go wrong at that price point, though split with a friend (or two!) and give the massive curry a go. There’s eight branches of Eat Tokyo around London and they’ve been going for a good while. Whilst the staff weren’t Japanese the food could have fooled otherwise.

The food was good, but won't stand out in my memory as somewhere that I should revisit on a future trip.

Service was adequate, space was limited (as is often the case in this style of restaurant).

A cost efficient one. But don't over expect. Went there twice. For the time I focused on my friends and forgot the taste, guess it meant it was legit. The second time I went there alone and realized it's just average.

Always good value for money!

Eat Tokyo has a few branches around London. I can say the dishes were equally tasty in both Holborn and Soho branches.

The menu is extensive and offers a variety of dishes. The portions here are gigantic, especially bento boxes. I always go for the Chicken katsu bento box and recommend it. It has everything you want: rice, salad, miso soup, tofu and meat/fish/veg. The food is always cooked to perfection and the prices are reasonable.

I would highly recommend Eat Tokyo. It will not let you down.

This is the go to for Japanese in London. The menu is vast and the portions are large by London standards. There is always a line, so expect to wait the majority of times. And then when you think you're in, theres that second entry door where u wait like a cubicle which is a bit ridicolous in my opinion.. onto the food, it's great. The sushi tastes fresh, the bentos are sizeable and significant. We also had the mussels on recommendation from a friend and that was deelish (they sometimes sell out so give it a shot if it's available). The service here is not the best, sometimes even rude but you put up with it. But at the end of the day on a portion, quality, cost basis you know there isn't a better place for Japanese in central london.

I've been to this Eat Tokyo many times - both with friends and alone when in the area. Every time I've been very satisfied with the food, service, and overall experience of the eatery.

The staff are reasonably friendly and attentive - it's a bit of a mixed bag and just depends on who is working that day. Though there is a hint of Japanese authenticity as you get an enthusiastic "Irrashaimase!" (welcome) when you enter the restaurant.

The menu is massive and now in fact there are two - a "new menu" and an old, though you can order from both. Don't ask. There's a good selection of à la carte sushi options, and also noodles, dons and curries for those who fancy something a bit heavier. The food comes quickly, is extremely tasty and not a bad price; you can easily come away from Eat Tokyo stuffed for only £10 per person.

Definitely check this place out if you're in the area.

Huge portions, authentic feel and delicious food; this is a great place for fans of Japanese food.

I went there with a big group and while there is a lot of space to accommodate that it is best to book in advance just in case. As soon as we got in and say down the staff, all dressed in traditional kimonos, gave us the the menus and some tap water.

I chose one of the bento boxes that came with chicken, salmon, some extra fish pieces, salad, rice and miso soup. Everything was delicious to the point I really can't pick a favourite and for £15 that is costs you really get to eat a lot of food to fill you up.

I have been telling everybody about it because I think it's a great place for Japanese food and you should definitely go there! In fact just go book right now, you know you want to. :)

Went to eat lunch here today -- the card machine was broken down so they only accepted cash, but they made sure to inform every customer prior to seating them.

I went in extremely hungry, which was a partial mistake since that always equals me over-ordering things. I ordered the tuna katsudon, which is a new offering, and futo maki. Shouldn't have done that, in hindsight, since I barely scratched the surface on the rice in my katsudon.

Futo maki was good, though, and the tuna portions were VERY generous. I'm talking about huge chunks of tuna in panko breadcrumb batter, so it's nice and crispy on the outside but juicy on the inside. I spent so much time trying to eat all the tuna that I didn't have too much room for the rice underneath it. Would go back again just for that dish, to be honest. A little pricier than my favorite Misato, but still a good place to go.

Quite authentic Japanese food, great Bento deals and cheap prices all together make for a fantastic meal out without having you regret it after the check comes in, if you didn't overdo, being too enthusiastic about all the options available and not considering that the portions are more than generous.... As you can guess that was the case for me, but I got the opportunity to taste different dishes, err, and verify how good the food is here. The service is a bit of a random act, with the waiting staff too busy trying to avoid eye contact, but you get seated in 5 minutes, order in 3 and get served in 10, the problem rise when you want something after all that. Still worth it and a real value for money spot.

I've been going to eat Tokyo for a few years now. Their menu is extensive to say the least. You need at least a good 10 mins to go through all the pictures, discuss and decide! The service is ok, not great but when you do find someone to help you they are always polite. The restaurant is always busy and there is always a queue out the front. This is probably because the food is priced very reasonably. I always go for a bento box because it has a little bit of what I want. I did notice on my last visit that the food was not as good as the previous visits but it was still ok. I wouldn't recommend going in large groups as the tables are quite small and close together.

Great place to eat for affordable prices. Let me be real, there is rarely no queue to get a table and you can wait from anywhere between 5-20 minutes depending on the day and time you visit. It is worth the wait, you get good food for your £s. Food portions are generous and the bento boxes are in my opinion huge. The sushi is also inexpensive and delicious. My favourites are king dragon roll, Lin Lin roll and the caterpillar roll!

Widest range of japanese dishes. Party of 4 of which I was the only not japanese. We knew the place wasn't meant to be smart but we were all impressed by the huge choice offered on the menu.
Not only sushi, only ramen or hot dishes but a little bit of everything to do with japanese cuisine.
Waiting time wasn't short but food was hot and very tasty, one of the girls from Tokyo said nigiri were ok but rolls had far too much rice (not much fish), the other two really enjoyed everything. I was impressed with my sashimi set and after all bill was below £60! Will definately visit again, recommeded!

Excellent food. I've been to Eat Tokyo many times, it has become my regular Japanese in Soho. The place is small and certainly doesn't look new but I find the food is quite good and down to earth, without too many frills. Expect a good selection of dishes from bento boxes to sushi, noodles etc. Price is excellent on it's own, they're reasonable and good value, especially in central London.
You can't book so there's often a bit of queue to get in so be prepared for a few minutes wait depending on the time.

It is always assumed that you can't have good quality Japanese food in London without paying a hefty price tag. Well let me show you to this little Japanese gem. I heard many good reviews online and from friends about Eat Tokyo, but always felt a bit skeptical.

I've been to a few Eat Tokyo branches, but my most recent visit was to the newly opened Soho branch.

This branch is less cramped than their previous one in Trafalgar Square so thumbs up on the move! However, to get as many people in as possible means the tables are quite close to each other.

As always, Eat Tokyo serves delicious sushi at reasonable prices. Their turnover is high so they use up a lot of produce meaning their ingredients, most importantly the fish is fresh! I've tried their bento in the past but thought it was average.

It's casual cafe dining that I would highly recommend. Eat Tokyo is my go to place for sushi!

It is always assumed that you can't have good quality Japanese food in London without paying a hefty price tag. Well let me show you to this little Japanese gem. I heard many good reviews online and from friends about Eat Tokyo, but always felt a bit skeptical. During one Sunday lunch time, we decided to pay a visit despite changing the reservation several times. Best to make a reservation beforehand, as it is a small restaurant and can get very busy at night with long queues.

We was seated at the bar table over looking the chef's actions. Looking at the extensive menu, you would tried to order everything. From sushi, to noodles, to donburi and almost anything you could want. Well they had a special price for certain sashimi during November. What do you do? Of course order sashimi and sake.

I'm impressed with the sashimi, wonderfully fresh and delicious. Especially for the price that you are paying, the quality is generally good. The aki (horse mackerel) was light, the amaebi (sweet shrimp) were decent and the toro (fatty tuna) was silky and not overly fatty with a melt in the mouth texture. The Unagi jyu (grilled eel) was nice, the sauce was sweet and sticky. I was happy to see decent size of unagi, this place certainly doesn't skimped on the portion size. It's not the best Unagi I had, but it is good enough for London for now.

For the month of November, with their Trafalgar Square branch being moved to Soho they had a special price of £1 per pieces of Otoro sashimi and £1.20 per pieces for Oo-toro nigiri. Surely no one can resist that price. Wish we had ordered more of toro now. The service was friendly and I really enjoyed the food. Eat Tokyo will never be the awarding food and decor that you are after. But for Japanese food craving, it is definitely the restaurant to go for without splurging the bank that does tasty food.

Eat Tokyo in Soho is an absolute gem that delivers an exceptional dining experience. From the moment I stepped inside, I was immediately captivated by the delightful ambiance, which made me feel like I had entered Japan itself. The sushi at Eat Tokyo was nothing short of amazing, each piece crafted with precision and bursting with authentic flavors. The freshness of the ingredients and the skillful preparation truly elevated the dining experience. The service was top-notch, with attentive and friendly staff ensuring a seamless and enjoyable meal. Moreover, the speed at which the dishes were served was impressive, making for a fast and tasty experience. Eat Tokyo has truly mastered the art of providing a delightful Japanese culinary journey in the heart of Soho. For anyone seeking an unforgettable sushi adventure paired with an enchanting atmosphere, Eat Tokyo is an absolute must-visit. I can't wait to return and indulge in more of their delectable sushi delights!

We ordered starters, main and drinks for two. Japanese, affordable, great portions served at the Soho outlet. We started with the idea that we should order more but the stuff we ordered was more than enough. It's really affordable too. Not expensive and large portions of mains, satisfied us. Service was quick. Présentation and taste was up to the mark as well. No complaints. Surely will go again, if we land up in Soho.

Had a wonderful visit to eat Tokyo with a group of friends. Without booking and visiting quite late the staff were quick to get our party seated. Promptly providing us with menus and giving us time to view and place our orders. My goodness this place is incredible! The teriyaki chicken and salmon are packing a punch of flavours. The oysters fresh and served with some chillis were fab adding that salty sweet heat kick! The staff were very friendly and gave some great recommendations from the menu. The price is more than reasonable and offers excellent value for money. Highly recommend!

A fun place totally worth a visit, definitely a place to come multiple people. It’s like a Japanese tapas place, the do have bigger dishes as well if you only want one thing. Foods pretty good and the service is fast and good. Was a little queue when we arrived but we got in after 5min.

For Central London Japanese food, Eat Tokyo is rather cheap and the food quality is really good, and there's a large selection to choose from (the menu was massive). Lots of people usually queue up, but luckily it didn't take too long for a table of 7 on a Saturday evening! The bentos were really worth the price and I had a big eyed tuna which was really meaty. All these came with a bowl of miso soup. We also got a "small" sashimi boat... which had 10 different seafood, 3 slices each... sadly it didn't come in a boat... Worth coming again and try their other branches.

The long queue outside goes down quickly! We went on Tuesday evening as a 4 and waited for around 15-20 minutes to be seated. As ever, their bento box is the best bang for your buck. Large portions and a lot of different options. From the chef’s specialties, we ordered their Tokyo Dragon & Hokkai rolls - both were really good in flavours but a little bit on the smaller side. For starters we got age-tofu, takoyaki, tori-kara & okra butter. We also tried their spicy tuna roll & oyako-maki - nothing spectacular. Unfortunately another customer walking past the table knocked over the drinks and spilled all over me. The waiter was very accommodating. He guided me to the bathroom, quickly cleaned up the floor and table, and brought out a new drink. All the food + 4 alcoholic drinks came up to around £30 per person.

Excellent sushi 🍣 We loved the sushi and sake here. The place is super popular and had a huge queue when we visited on a Friday evening. But it’s worth the wait. The lady who takes your names down in the queue is fair and treated everyone with utmost care and respect. A lot of ropes were trying to get in between the queue and she manger it nicely. I was really happy to eat Sushi here on my bday! Thanks Eat Tokyo it was a great meal!

This is the way to go for a relatively cheap Japanese restaurant in central london. Most of the food are high quality and generous portion. My go to is katsu sara set but i tried something new, the bento and sushi which both are amazing! Come and try, you will definitely come back here in no time. The queue might be a bit long, but it’s relatively quick, also it’s possible to book by phone. Try the curry cutlet if you’re super hungry and up for a challenge! Like this review if you manage to finish it!

I was eating at Eat Tokyo for many years during my student days. I came back after a couple of years and still is pretty much the same with its reasonable food and its no frills. Staff make a good effort. Fast service. Menu is large and varied. Katsu curry is substantial and cheap for the price (£8 for single portion) would recommend for the hungry student/office worker.

Definitely worth a visit if you’re around the area! The food is quite affordable and there is many options to choose, I got the salmon teriyaki box, but would prefer if there a little bit more sauce in the rice but other than that I really enjoyed the food, always be prepared for a queue, would recommend going before 3pm to make this a more pleasant experience.

I had lunch here with a close friend and it was a memorable experience altogether. Definitely need to lineup 20 minutes before the opening as the line builds up very quickly. The food is great. My friend got the bento and I got the Ramen. Very authentic experience except the chicken from the Bento, could have been cooked a bit better since it’s very well done and dry. The ramen is great, no complaints. The place seems like you teleported directly to Japan. Feels and smells like the place . Overall an amazing experience. I’ll remind myself to thank my friend to treating me here before goinng to the Theatre.

This is my favourite place to go to for authentic Japanese food. Their menu is extensive, and all items have accompanying photos to help decide which dishes to order. There is a bit of a wait if you don't book beforehand, roughly 20-30 mins depending on group size and how busy it is. The service is fast and from the moment you walk in, you can sense there is a really good system in place. The vegetarian Gyoza and Spring rolls are a must for starters. The Dragon Rolls and Spicy Tuna sushi are delicious. The pancakes are quite nice, I do wish it was Crispy Skin Salmon.. The bento boxes are amazing pricewise and option wise. The Salmon Teriyaki and variety Tempura Bento box is a favourite. It's also super affordable so you find yourself ordering a lot and happily paying for it. P S. The Udon noodles are the yummiest I've had.
