Great place for some good ,no nonsense Chinese food and you get great service.
We went there for dinner and the place was packed and the hostess said we had a 30 minute wait and reluctantly we had to wait out in the cold.
The place is small and they do have a lower seating level with a couple of tables and it is manned by only a couple of waitresses.
We ordered while waiting so the food came pretty quickly, Sweet Corn Crab Soup, Porksoup dumplings,Prawn Pepper Salt, Chicken,Shrimp and Beef Fried Rice and Kung Pao Chicken.
Everything tasted good and I have to commend the excellent skills of the 2 people waiting especially Ms.Ellie who took orders,served the tables,cleared the used dishes ,delivered take away orders almost singlehandedly and all with a smile!
We've been in London for a week and we were craving something different, we were craving for our Chinese food.
Luckily this place was very close to the hotel. Kung pow Chicken was great! Beef with black bean sauce was excellent and the fried rice very tasty.

Love it !. I was introduced to this little place by my friends who told me that they could get a set menu for £15 per person as long as there were 6 of us and that last time they went there was so much food, they couldn't finish it! Have to admit that I was a bit cautious but said to book my place.
It was a little difficult to find but I got myself sat down and then the food starting arriving.
Firstly, there were half a dozen cold starters which included pickled cucumber, jelly fish with celery, cold beef cheek, marinated fried fish, chicken cooked in Chinese wine and filled dates. Before we'd finished those, along came two giant steamers filled with dumplings filled with pork and glutinous rice dumplings which were amazing!
Then followed the garlic and black bean steamed scallops (still in their shells) and then the "mains" - stir fried king prawns, Chinese vegetables, sweet and sour baked fish, pork belly in plum sauce, marinated tofu, deep fried beef with garlic and sweet and sour pork - all so good!
We never finished all the food but still sampled the Chinese dessert that was offered which was lovely with the little rice balls.
In conclusion, I'd definitely come here again, the food was pretty authentic so I can understand it is not to everyone's taste but for me, it's one of the best Chinese places I've been to and at £15 a head - such good value.
Ordering in Chinese restaurants can be hard work, which is why leaving it to the chef to decide has a certain appeal. I was lucky enough to recently visit two places that offer this option: Red Sun and Taiwan Village . In order to try the leave-it-to-us option at Red Sun, booking is essential and the party size must be a minimum of eight. They will then rustle up a multi-course feast for a scarcely believable £15/head . Of course, you can at the time of booking mention likes and dislikes as well as make special requests. Having said that I'm not sure how easy this would be if you don't speak Mandarin (a fluent Mandarin speaker, not me, made the booking). First up came a selection of starters that included dishes such as cold marinated beef slices, drunken chicken, smoked fish, tofu as well as various salads. I, along with my friends, went to this restaurant. They has a set menu and it was reasonably priced. The portions served were so large that event the six of us weren't able to finish the meal. For starters, we had jelly fish and decided to have fried fish and chicken for the main course. The food was very well-prepared and the quality was top notch.
This restaurant is situated on a rather quiet street. It basically offers a variety of dishes. The staff is quite friendly and helpful at the same time. I asked them to recommend a few dishes on offer and was really impressed from their choices. The atmosphere was fine and relaxed.

This is a Chinese restaurant which focuses on food from Shanghai. The place is quite soothing and relaxing. One receives service at this place. However, the food is quite greasy and full of salt. The flavours hit you hard, which might not be everyone's cup of tea. I have been here twice with my friends and enjoyed myself thoroughly both the times. Every dish is unique here. All in all, I love this restaurant and the food.
What totally surprised me in this restaurant was the super skilled service. And this for a Chinese restaurant is pretty amazing.In fact , i would add the staff was very caring and highly attentive.
On to the most important factor, the food. I would happily want to promote this restaurant as a mascot because it serves the most delicious food ever!!! I can't understand why people would lie about the food being bad.
The food amazingly was made to our liking, with the chef's special attention and tasted heavenly. The only negative for this hell of a place would be the steep charges (three dishes for forty pounds).But it is definitely worth our money! Go try!
I had the most amazing food here after a tiring day in the city. We went through the positive reviews of this place and decided to give it a try. The place is not very spacious so we had to sit with another customer. She came here often and vouched for the authenticity of the food. Everything we ordered was delectable, however, the portions were quite tiny. I will surely be revisiting for the amazing food.
I have eaten at this place on quite a few occasions after being introduced to it by a friend. I have not stopped coming back since. I recommend this place to everyone who wants to experience authentic Chinese in this region. The ambiance can look pretty crummy at first but the food is always a delight! This place has some of the best and most authentic Chinese food in the city. When I first stepped in, I noticed that most of the customers were Chinese, which is a testament to the authenticity of the taste. My own experience was impressive. They have a very sweet and friendly staff, and the food tastes great. It also offers a good value for money. I expect to become a regular here.
I have been to this restaurant a couple of times. The food is absolutely delectable and delicious. A few of the dishes which are totally worth trying are the Special fried rice, Salt and Pepper ribs and the Singapore fried noodles. The service is great. The ambiance is also very delightful. The place offers delectable and authentic Chinese dishes at reasonable low prices. There are long queues and if you are used to having only authentic Chinese which is extremely expensive, you will be pleasantly surprised at the place. We went here as the place was recommended by the staff of the hotel we were staying in. My first impression of the place wasn't all that good and the place looked like dump but it soon elevated itself on the great food and amazing service it offered. The food was affordable too.
This is a small place with very friendly and hospitable staff, which consists of the owner and a waitress. The place is usually full of people, and has a beautiful red decor. Even though there is very less staff, they serve from table to table with ease and grace. The Singapore noodles are a must-try, and a dish you would like to come back for.
The chinese food is one difficult cuisine to come about perfectly! But how perfectly this restaurant not only blends all ingredients but makes one of the most authentic chinese food i have had in the city! Made it one of the finest food date for us with this pleasurable delight of a food!
We used to be a regular at another Chinese restaurant, before we found out about this place. We visit this place about once a week, and the dining experience here is an absolute delight. The food here is delicious and appetizing. The place is also usually filled with Chinese people, which according to me is the true barometer of a good Chinese restaurant. I would totally recommend this restaurant.
I went to Red Sun with a large party of 14 guests as part of a leaving do. Red Sun is a small restaurant so it was a very tight squeeze for us all to fit around the table but we managed to do it with some extra chairs and slight elbow bashing.
I can't even tell you all the food that we had because there was so much of it that I was in a bit of a food daze - I do remember though having some peking duck pancakes, spring rolls, sweet and sour chicken, lemon chicken, pak choi, fried rice, noodles and a massive joint of some kind of meat for the table to share.. I want to say that it was pork but I'm not too sure to be honest!
All in all though, every dish I managed to salvage from the effective rugby scrum satisfied my taste buds.There was plenty of sauce and the meals were cooked well.
Amazing food! I had the chicken fried noodles (closest thing to chow mein), my sister had black bean beef and my mum got Singapore noodles. My sister said it was the best black bean sauce she’d ever had. Amazing service, the food came extremely quick and piping hot. Great food for a great price. A must try!
If you are looking for an authentic Chinese restaurant this is the one. I have been coming for 5 years plus, the service is always amazing especially the owner she is very friendly and very accommodating.
I have tried a few from the menu over the years but my absolute favourite is the shrimp fried noodle with extra chill 🫶🏾
Whenever I invite a friend with me it’s becomes their fav Chinese restaurant.
Every time I come the quality and portions are still amazing and the price is very affordable Especially for the area it is located in.

I love Red Sun and have been coming here for many years. I have probably had over 100 meals here and enjoyed every one of them. They have all of the usual Chinese dishes, but also have available some dishes that are on a separate “Chinese”
Menu and are great to try.

A small restaurant tucked away not far from Oxford Street. It's well worth the effort of finding this place.
Visited early evening one Monday night and were obviously the first customers. Consequently the service was fast as was the arrival of our food.
The beer was cold and the portion sizes large.
Nothing was over salted so the full flavours came through.
Couldn't fault the service: discreet and courteous.

Of London is a gem. The food is so flavourful, the service prompt and helpful. It’s a hole in the wall but always leaves us feeling satisfied and happy.
Excellent Shanghainese cuisine. There is another menu available. Don't be fooled by the Chinese takeaway style menu online. This place is authentic, delicious and great value. Many Chinese come here for a taste of home.
The taste is good at this Red Sun （小東方）restaurant. We ordered 1.stewed beancurd with minced pork in pepper sauce（麻婆豆腐）2. water bamboo fried meat（茭白炒肉）3. noodles mixed with scallion（蔥油拌麵）. The first two are recommended. While the third one is too sweet for us.

I lived in Marble Arch for one year and Red Sun was my go to comfort food. The chicken soups and spicy stir fried veggies were my favorite.

Very authentic Shanghainese food, I recommend their drunken chicken, jellyfish, stir-fried rice cake and also garlic pork, definitely checked for seasonal dishes, we tried the white asparagus with sweet pepper and pork slices, it’s good. We love our server, she is genius and nice, and give good recommendations.

They always remember my team (we visit when we are in town for work) and never fail to recall my dietary requirements, preferred drink orders and even where we like to be seated.

Great Chinese food which can be hard to find in London with so many below average places especially in Chinatown.
Very good Chinese food with generous portion. The deco can do with a face lift however not essential if one focuses on the taste of the food.

Small, nice and cosy place. Centrally located very close to Oxford Street. Great customer service. The food was excellent. We had some chicken and prawn dishes and all of them were excellent. Not very heavy on your purse too. We ended up with just about gbp 50 for 3 persons lunch including beer and soup.

Lovely and cosy asian restaurant. It's quite a small place but they offer more then 80 meals (plus some variations to some of them) so there's plenty to choose from, including vegetarian options. The portions were on the smaller side but not to the point of a fault.
The staff was kind and service was great.
The place is quite small so you might have to wait but it is so worth it. Food is outstanding. Service was extraordinary. Really enjoyed it.
