I will write an overall review because we have enjoyed Saffron on many occasions thus far. But today something unique and really kind happened. We ordered a takeaway to take home. While walking to our car, a bag dropped and one of the containers spilled. One of the chefs (if I understood properly) was driving and noticed this. He went to the kitchen and got them to prepare the meal and replaced the one which had dropped. It wasn't something he had to do, but that small gesture was appreciated in abundance. Thank you so much. We will continue to recommend this place to all.
An amazing hidden gem. Never had indian food like it. The place was full of asian people so I knew it would be good food. 10/10 for food and service. Mouth watering dishes. Id never eat anywhere else for indian food now. Oh and the strawberry daqerys are amazing!
This restaurant did not disappoint, being in the food industry myself I know it's impossible to please everyone and reading the reviews I saw many mixed views but it's good I didn't let them put me off. The food was on point, we were a family of 7 with kids and adults mixed and each one was complimenting the food at every step.
I would definitely recommend and as I said earlier you can't please everyone so keep up the good work and concentrate on the positive. (Service was good, considering it was very busy)
Great customer service food was on point and fresh.
I loved the flavouring on the chops, The Chaat Platter has excellent variety and the Rogan Josh had lovely flavour.
I defo recommend people visit.
Amazing food and top class service. Tried going before but was told there was a 2hr 30min wait so booked a table in advance. The atmosphere was very nice and the food Delish. Really recommend this place. We went with a 15 month old and she was given an appropriate high chair. Really family friendly with lovely staff that gave quick service.
Masha Allah this place had some amazing tasty food. Good thing it’s HMC. Couldn’t get pass the starters was completely full. Next time I’ll have to skip the starters
very nice halal food brilliant service my favourit restaurant in east London
Very authentic Indian food in east london. Had lots of space on the weekend. Service was fast, waiters were very friendly. Cost is cheap compared to central London. Food quantities are huge, keep that in mind while ordering.
Heard such good reviews of this restaurant and it certainly lived up to its expectations 😍😍 ordered the masala chips at £4 and they were exceptional. So much flavour and very filling. Next, I had the butter chicken for £10 and it was also very tasty and filling. We shared an order of grilled wings at £6 and my friend ordered the lamb chops at £12 which she was very pleased with. Overall, a beautiful restaurant with a lovely atmosphere and of course, AMAZING food and service. A definite 5/5 from me.
I have been here couple of times.I am very particular about the taste and the best Indian taste satisfied me was at Tabla restaurant. They really serve excellent food . Presentation of food was excellent.I was so impressed that I called the Chef and the Manager to congratulate them. ***** from my side.
Nice food. Loved everything that we ordered. Specially the Chaat platter, paneer chilli, chicken tikka masala, masala chips. Their donut desert topped with ice cream is must try.
awesome service.
Absolutely LOVE their Masala chips! Service was amazing, even though it was a Friday night and extremely busy. Would definitely go there again! Masala chips were extremely moist and not dry (I hate dry food) and the chaat platter was something different for me but again was very delicious. The mixed grill was grill but didn't particularly stand out for any reason it was average.
I have visited this place twice and the food is absolutely OUTSTANDING! I rarely eat Indian cuisine when Im going out for a meal but this place has turned me! The only downside was that we had to wait almost an hour for a table but the food makes up for it. Staff are absolutely lovely and very helpful :)
Saffron is one of best restuarant i went to in terms of food and service. However i believe they should allow reservations to be under 10 people and not only over 10 people. Also i think they should make the portion sizes bigger for the price is it but other than that its good!
Saw some amazing reviews about this place so I was slightly deflated when I got to experience the food myself. The 2 main things that are worth the trip is the masala chips and their desserts (red velvet cookie dough with ferroroche ice cream). Other than that everything is mediocre or less so. Food looks good but doesnt really deliver on taste.
Saffron Kitchen top dishes are Chicken Chow Mien & Masala Chips!!!! Good service. Restaurant is presentable, hygienic & decor is simple. Recommended.
I have heard a lot about this restaurant, so decided to host a colleague's leaving dinner. They have a wide range of starters, mains and desserts. The passionfruit daiquiri was delicious, cold and sweet and just lovely. We ordered many starters and the masala chips stood out. Yummy, chunky chips full of flavour. The mixed grill was also very nice, tender pieces of meat with sautéed onions. I ordered the Chicken 65 chow me in, extra spicy. I can say that the portion size was perfect and the chow mein was delicious. The only food disappointment I had was the dessert. Chocolate fudge cake and ice cream. The was extremely dry and just under edible really. The staff were very friendly, however it was very busy and in my opinion not enough staff members ad we had to wait a while to be served between courses. Overall Saffron Kitchen is a lovely restaurant and I would probably go there again to try different aspects of thier menu.
My friends have raved about this for months so finally I went there with them. Was a little disappointed but don't think that this place is bad. Just thought it would be better. Guess my friends made my expectations sky high which didn't help.
The food was good but nothing amazing. Out of everything I enjoyed the Naan the most..... All the other food I ordered was good, above average. Guess my expectations are too high as home cooking is always better.
Been to Saffron's many times. They have never let us down. The food and service is excellent. It is a very busy place so I would recommend to reserve a table. It is definitely a fine dine HMC restaurant to enjoy. The desserts are amazing too.
Situated in east london, very busy restaurant with long queses. I always take this as a positive sign, not in terms of taste but also in terms of food freshness.
The decor is lovely and the atmosphere is warm.
Service here is good as well as the mocktails. Try strawberry mojito!
Very helpful staff.
Food was good - well controlled spices. Do save some space for desserts as their waffles and faluda are great.
Recommended.
Wow.. now that was an experience. After hearing about this restaurant and reading the reviews, decided to take the family out for dinner. And no one was disappointed with their meals! I wish I had taken more pictures!
We ordered the lamb shank, lamb sheatlets, the ultimate grill, and the bhuna ghosh with dhal makhani. Started off with the sev puri which was nice, could have done with abit more moistness. Even the kids meal was great. Was a bit apprehensive about the appearance as it looked spicy but it was fine for the kids. Lamb shank looked massive on the plate! Serving portions are generous to say the least! Only downfall was the special juice drink didn't seem anything special, just freshly pressed. But still nice. Sucker for mojito and the pina colada was as expected. All refreshing. Didn't have space for desert.
Lots of staff on hand. Abit too helpful as we had two ladies coming in one after the other with the same service related questions but so nice overall. Felt abit rushed near the end of the meal as they wanted to clear the table and they had stopped packing food. But that wasn't a big deal.
Amazing evening. Well worth the empty stomach going in. Would definitely go again and bring more people.
Made our family celebration very special. Memory to keep!... and probably won't eat that much for a long time to come :)
Saffron Kitchen
I live very close to this somewhat new restaurant on Lea Bridge Road in Leyton, in fact this place has been open for over a year and I only recently heard about this place and decided to pay a visit with my family on fathers day. What was once a restaurant for a old local football team is now a large modern indian eatery, The car park is the old football pitch which is behind Saffron Kitchen which was a little surreal as the last time i was here was 20 years ago watching a match.
The restaurant is large with a different sections available for large groups, the decor is modern with hints of indian and arab design on the walls.
The starters were really good and where the standout dishes from the night. The "Red Hot Chicken Wings" where so good, unique spicy bbq style sauce. me and my brother were fighting over these. I also ordered some Masala Chips which went perfect with the Wings, I like the way they presented and served (see pics) They were coated in a very nice sauce, which gave a English classic a Indian twist.
Lamb chops were good as well, I find that in most Indian restaurants Lamb chops tend to be on the thin side, but these were thick and juicy and bursting with flavour, they were a tad on the well done side but I didn't mention how i wanted in cooked, so thats fine.
The mains we got we a mix bag, my Dad ordered the Sea Bass Filet served in a creamy coconut sauce, I think the fish didn't really go well with the creaminess of the sauce, but it was nice to see something different on the menu.
My brother had a Chicken Roulade, a chicken breast stuffed with cheese. I didn't have a taste but he seemed to enjoy it.
I went for Indian dish, Methi Gosh, which lacked depth, there wasn't any overriding use of the methi. The lamb was of good quality however and portion size enough for me to take it away and eat it for lunch the next day, which tasted better!
We also got a jug on Moijtio for 8.50 which was about 4 glasses.
Service wise, there were a lot of staff to hand, but i had to ask for the bill twice. However, service was friendly and pleasant, with a family restaurant vibe.. does that make sense?
I am definitely coming back here again, the wings and chips were just brilliant.

Looking for authentic Indian food in east London? Saffron kitchen is the place for you. I simply loved the ambience. The waitresses pronounce the names of menu items correctly. The restaurant is pretty crowded with customers due to which the service can get a bit slower at times. The food is spicy enough to suit the Indian taste buds however I'm sure the chef would happily oblige to make it less spicier if intimated so. Fried ice cream is a must try dessert on your visit.
Finally, not very hard on the pocket which makes me give it a good rating.
For one thing, you will feel neither cheated nor disappointed. The portions are big, the drinks are decent, the kinder bueno milkshake wasn’t that great. Other than that, service was excellent and quick. Very modern decor and very clean.
My friends and I visited this place when it opened, so it wasn't busy at all. The service was impeccable, food was delivered, and the table was cleared up in a timely manner. The waiters and waitresses were ready and waiting to assist us in any way we needed.
Lastly, the food was beyond delicious! Everything we ordered was full of flavour, perfectly cooked and served fresh. It may not seem like it either, but the porrion sizes were huge. We weren't sure whether to get more food or not, and we're glad we didn't because we just about managed to wipe our plates clean. I really can't fault this place, and all I want is to go back!
Overall a very good experience. Second time going there. I am not for one to go to a curry based restaurant, but their curries are good, mixed grill wasn't too heavily masala flavouring based and everything was cooked well. Went with the whole family and the restaurant is setup up nicely for families and couples
Very very delicious Indian food being served here. They have wide variety of menu selection which is great. We ordered pretty much everything on the menu and every single food came out amazing. Best service from waitress as well. Price is proportionate to food sizing. Will definitely come by again without a doubt.
They also did not put a service charge on our receipt despite having 10ppl on our table. An honest gesture.
The foods are brilliant! I can tell it’s mostly Kashmiri menu which I love and it has a section for indo-Asian, I would totally recommend Bao buns and dhamaka. I like how they present Tandoori chai like a little show and entertainment and it was sure send a warm sweet sensation down the throat. I came here for my birthday treat and came back again few days after! Avoid pani puri at all cost as the money isn’t worth spending on that
Saffron kitchen
Service: 3.5/5
Food: overall 4/5 - Dhaal Makni / Passion Fruit Daiquiri (extremely sweet) / Masala Chips/ Tandoori Nan / Mix Chaat Platter / Mix Grill / Chicken Handi / King Prawn Bhuna / Lamb Biryani.
Venue: 5/5 huge car park at the back of the venue always a plus point. Great that the venue also has a prayer room. Clean washroom and great deco.
This place is always busy and I'd recommend booking if you would like a table especially on the weekends. Personally I feel like the curries could be improved on as the butter chicken I tried lacked spices. However their chicken nambali, masala chips, dahi puri and fried ice cream are some items I would recommend trying. They have on site free parking which is great.
The Mango Lassi & Masala chips were absolutely amazing & was the gem from my entire meal. The chicken 65 chow mein dish was good however very average & standard. (Probably should’ve ordered authentic Indian dishes)
Shoutout to 09 with the save 🤞🏿 R hold your L you jokeman
Lovely Pakistani cuisine with a good atmosphere and on time service.
Thoroughly enjoyed the ribs and the naan was crispy yet moist. Will definitely be going again.
Good for large families.
Price is reasonable, large portion size food.
Quality 10/10.
