Wanted to go here for a while and it didn’t disappoint, tucked away it was a welcome retreat on a blustery wet Sunday evening.
Lovely food although after being advised that we really needed to book, there was only us sat in the dining area for two hours! Others came up to sit here wanting to order d
What a great pub! It's rustic and cozy. It's a busy place, but based on its history, it's ot surprising. This pub was established in 1520 and rebuilt in the 1770s. It is the oldest riverside pub in London. This place was used in days of old to hang pirates. The noose remains on the beach. They hav
We came here on a bit of a tour on some of the oldest pubs in London. Great atmosphere inside and lots to see, so many interesting facts and details and great opportunity to sit outside upstairs if it’s a nice day. Good choice on tap too.
Really nice place with lots of history. I wish they have someone from time to time to share more about it. During this visit, around 7pm, I wasn't able to find any food for the children or anything lighter than fish and chips or a burger. That could be a normal thing that happens on every pub or the
we were walking in this beautiful neighborhood, as we saw this we had to go to drink something. it was 11:30 so the kitchen was not open yet. we asked wich beer the bar recommends. she gave a bit to taste of like 5 diffrent beers. amazing service. and how it looked inside. WOOOW ! the staff is extre
The oldest Riverside pub in London dated back to 1520 when it was known as The Pelican, and later, The Devils Tavern. In the 18th century, the pub changed its name for the last time to The Prospect of Whitby.
The pub is now a place of interest on the Thames Walk East and attracts many to its cosy i
Had a lovely drink or two in this charming and historic riverside pub. Magnificent views of the Thames and Canary Wharf from the garden and quaint and historic interior. Hangman’s noise and gibbet on the foreshore just in case you meet any pirates!
Totally makes sense why it is on every tourist’s i
It is one of the best pubs in London and a place on anyone's list. It's full of history that goes back to 1520, and it is the oldest riverside pub.
Everything about this place is thrilling and exciting at the same time. The whole place transports you back hundreds of years and allows you to imagine
Well worth the walk to Wapping! Our Shandy was very refreshing and accompanied our grilled cheeses and chips nicely. There's so much history here. Seating options were plentiful and every corner turned a wealth of history... and go to the side to catch a view of the gallows. We lucked out and cau
Would have given 5 stars but: first I would have been charged for a fishpie I haven't ordered because it was left on the tab from the previous table. Good thing I noticed the amount charged was more than I expected. Second, the windows need cleaning. With a view like that it's a shame you can barely
Wow, what history this place has seen and goes back to the 16th century. The rooms are amazing and the hangman's noose is a nice touch. Had the best steak and ale pie in a very long time, this place is a must visit.
An exceptional Historic boozer. Heavily worn, incredible stone floor and awesome features at every turn and in every nook and cranny laid out over multiple floors, fantastic staff with really good food and drink choices. They have a couple of outside spaces that really can't be beat, with the main a
The charm of the Prospect of Whitby is still beautifully preserved, showcasing its rich historical character while offering excellent service and ample seating options both indoors and outdoors.
Well…!!! This Pub is actually a book of story since 1520 named “The devil Tavern” by his residents. Internal environment will bring you straight forward back in past, impressive mark will have pictures on the wall and all antique items placed on shelves. With time story this pub is so popular as hun
Lovely old pub with lots of character and history. Food and drinks were excellent and the staff were friendly. The atmosphere was amazing. I loved their little balcony on the first floor overlooking the Thames. Amazing place full of charisma and character. Would really recommend it.
Good array of beers and gins, however an uninspiring selection of wines. The pub was very busy on the weekend, chockablock both inside and out with punters so we weren’t able to find a seat.
This place was less than a mile from our hotel, it was love at first sight. The walk up is a little step into the past. The pub itself has that exact feel of a place I would hang out in if I was local. The food was delicious and the staff were awesome. We ended up eating here 3 nights. If you're in
