Probs one of the best boozers in the area. Traditional place on the corner with Harvey's pints and a feeling that you're in a proper pub. Yet to get the food but judging by the messily handwritten A4 menu on the wall and what I've seen on others' plates, looks straightforward and decent.
Royal oak. Nothing fancy about this traditional no frills pub and its food, tasty, honest and filling, and that's what makes it great.
Live locally so have tried a lot of places in the area, and so far this is one the best pub. The food and service are always good; it is not over-priced.
A fine traditional pub, close to Borough underground station. The Royal Oak offers a select range of beers both from the keg and the cask including a rarely seen. Dark Mild ready for pulling! Lovely service and a very pleasant atmosphere made this a very enjoyable stop on a busy schedule.
I find the beer well kept, the atmosphere cosy and traditional and the staff are friendly and efficient. It is one of my favourite pubs in the world. I only wish I lived closer to it.
A good little pub and a nice find given it’s quite some way from the Harvey’s part of the world.
They have a great selection of Harvey’s ales all at reasonable prices too. The pub can get quite cramped and busy as it’s quite small and tight.
The main thing I’d change is the harsh lighting. Something softer would be nicer.
You can’t complain in having something a bit different though that’s not part of the usual central and inner London chains. Solid 4/5.
Food was nice. Happy to have found a table without reservation on a Sunday afternoon. Place is a bit too expensive but it's Central London so it's expected. Dogs allowed, always appreciated.

Had some time to kill between errands the other week so paid a visit to a pub I've walked past only a handful of times but never popped into. A reoccurring theme with these posts.
I've been to Lewes more times this year than I have to this pub, no better than the source for @harveysbrewery but this is just as good. Baffling it's taken me this long to go, maybe coincided with my growing re-appreciation of traditional styles (along with relative affordability), but simply, I didn't know this place existed until I took a wrong turn a month ago.
This is the first pub purchased in London by Harvey's back around 2010(?), but the history dates back *way* before that to 1898. Good bones, split bar, and ample wooden seating, it's cosy yet spacious at the same time. 7-8 real ales on, I opted for the Bonfire Boy, a superb ESB that brought smokiness and a warmth to a dreary December day.
I think the kitchen has just changed over, no longer sandwiches and pub grub, it's Lebanese menu from @lilwatan_ will have me coming back for sure. If not that, then £3 pints of Mild on Mondays should be the clincher.
Friendly service, nice and quiet (aside from the bloke eating crisps the loudest I've ever heard in my life), and the corner positioning with the vast windows, proximity to a very busy area make it a prime people watching spot.
The very excellent Gladstone Arms is up the street from here too, so I won't begrudge you if that's your preferred venue, but next time you're in the area you should save space for a pint of Harvey's at The Royal Oak. Make it a Monday, a #MildMonday and you're on for a winner.
Welcoming pub owned by Harvey's Brewery. Four cask ales, tried all four between us and all excellent quality. Great to see a dark mild on. Very good selection of bottled Harvey's ales too.
Proper south London boozer, excellent Harvey's selection. Would have been 5⭐ review if they had more staff on, we left after a couple of pints as we couldn't get service.

Another excellent pub you wished you found years ago! Small, late Victorian pub on a corner spot , 3 mins from Borough tube station. Two separate rooms with the bar in the middle. On my visit on. Thursday evening around 8 o’clock, a nice , quiet crowd sitting with their drinks, some eating, one at the bar. Beers on draft are mostly from the Harvey brewery of Lewes. My dark ale was a winner! I didn’t have any food, but the people who were eating seemed to be well catered for.
Visited today for the first time and will certainly be back. It's a no nonsense pub that serves great beer and excellent food. I absolutely detest the endless array of revolting IPA's and craft lagers that have taken over so many pubs in the last few years. None of that rubbish here - I tried the dark Mild and black stout and both were excellent. I can also recommend the steak and ale pie which was full of tender meat in a rich gravy.

Came in here last in Jan 2020 when I was walking around trying to find a reasonably priced real ale pub that was not showing the football match that was on at the time. Ended up having an amazing meal and trying some decent beers.
Fast forward to July 2021, just got a new job at guys hospital and so decided to make bypass all the pubs in London Bridge and make a beeline here.
I did not eat here tonight but the food looked just good as my last visit, the beers are kept extremely well, the bar staff are very knowledgeable and friendly and the price is the same as I paid previously. Not to mention the beers are very local heading up from Hove.
Tables are socially distanced and there is hand sanitiser on the table. When a customer leaves their table the staff come and sanitise the table and I found the toilets very clean. I would definitely recommend even though a change of staff. The standards of this brewary company are very high
Excellent London pub a short walk off the main road. Central bar serving excellent Harvey's beer to the front and back seating areas. I learnt to drink on Harvey's so great find for me.
Excellent pub. Been here many times. A gem of the Borough of which there are many. You can almost see the black clock face of St George the Martyr from here.
Good pub. Was serving Harvey's Porter when I was here - one I've not had before. It's in good form😁
First class pub, original decor, great staff and first class ales. Why not walk another 5 mins down Borough High Street to enjoy a high class pub, than cram yourselves on the pavement outside an inferior pub?
