This place was fantastic. As I like my coffee hot I asked for it to be heated up as it was only warm. They were only too pleased to remake it even though I would have been happy with it being reheated. Food was great along with the service

Unbeatable coffee. Good food too. All to be enjoyed in the perfect utilitarian industrial space. A latter-day cathedral of coffee.

I just ordered a flat white and the barista had already started making it when I walked in, because I am a regular and he knows my order. That's fair and polite and I will be going back.

This is more of a serious coffee shop.  The detective within me deduced this from the horde of coffee paraphernalia adorning the walls.  Prufrock also offers barista training in their basement.  I ended up here through my in depth search of coffee in the capital (i.e. a cursory google search) for a respected coffee place near Chancery Lane.

Coffee at its best. Soothing. Warm ambience. Highly recommended. While their espresso was strong, the best part of this place is their hand-brewed filter. It was just solid and bold. Perfect.

For food, I only tried avocado on sourdough toast with chilli and oil, and with this one only, I can tell they are serious on food as well. Tasty.

Well, I am sitting here inside this cafe and writing a review about it :D ! Needless to say, one of the best coffees I have had in London. Having experimented with so many coffee shops, I can safely say this is by far the best "cuppa" I have had in London.  Located in the heart of the Leather Lane and despite being a weekday (afternoon time), Prufrock is bustling with people. I had an espresso with milk, and it is a great option, among others like hand-brewed filter and cappuccino. The staff is friendly and the service is quick :).

Will I visit again? Damn right, I will :D !

One of my favourite places for quality coffee – Prufrock Coffee on Leather Lane – hosts a hands-on Coffee Lover’s Workshop. The workshop “celebrates the sensory and manual aspects of brewing by hand” and takes attendees through “a complete set of recipes to get the best out of all the brew methods” that Prufrock endorses – “from Aeropress to espresso, French press to V60.” Conducted downstairs at Prufrock’s training bar, the workshop presents an opportunity to make coffee with a range of professional equipment baristas use to brew.

Prufrock Coffee is a great coffee shop that those who stroll down Leather Lane will find themselves in the presence of. Prufrock has 2000sq feet over two floors of an old Victorian book shop where they offer coffee tastings, training and events.

I had high hopes for Prufrock coffee. Since it's a staple in almost every "best coffee in London" article I've read, and given its commitment to certified barista training, it couldn't be otherwise. So, without further ado, here's the verdict you're most likely here for: Prufrock's coffee is good. I had a flat white; didn't grimace once while drinking it, and would happily have it again. Mind you: the reviewers who claim Prufrock's coffee isn't piping hot are absolutely right. A blessing in disguise, as it saved my colleagues from the slew of curses that usually follows the moment I burn my palate with a hasty sip of scalding coffee.

We picked Prufrock somewhat at random: none of us had been there before or knew what it looked like, but we were aware of its fame, and needed a meeting point before an event in Chancery Lane. The fear we'd find a cramped box room, with hardly any seats and a takeaway-only policy, haunted us until we walked in, and found a large, airy space with plenty of tables. Our choice of timing made our breakfast all the more enjoyable: I'm ready to bet Prufrock's morning rush hour is around 8 - 8.30am, wedged between people's commutes and the time to clock in at the office. We arrived shortly before 9, just as the frenzy was dying down and turning into a lively, pleasant atmosphere. I'd sign up for starting every Friday morning in a place like that; the weird and wonderful coffee-making props on the shelves sure make for a more interesting scenery than my overcrowded office kitchen.

As well as different types of coffee, tea and soft drinks, Prufrock also offer a selection of small bites, sweet and savoury breakfast options, and lunch fare to cater for all tastes. The most striking dish I've seen is a thick, large slice of toasted brown bread, topped with two avocado halves, chilli flakes and a good glug of oil. Even though the phrase "savoury breakfast" doesn't exist in my books, I felt pangs of envy at my colleague who was having it.

My pick was a white chocolate and pecan cookie; an obvious choice,
as there's no way I can say no to white chocolate cookies when I see them. Not even when dark chocolate and hazelnut cookies lie right by their side - and that's saying something, as I find it hard to resist hazelnut bakes, too. In hindsight, I should have tried both: stunning as my cookie was (a true delight, with a chewy, buttery dough straight from heaven, and a nutty aftertaste that hit me like the most welcome of surprises), it didn't alleviate my hunger one bit. It was far too small: the teaser trailer to a cookie, the alluring yet empty promise of a fuller pleasure. There should be more substance to a treat this fulfilling; expecting anyone to put up with consuming it in a couple bites is just unreasonable.

It's not just the cookies. The sweet bakes at the counter are all bite-sized; you won't feel content with ordering just one, unless you've eaten a more substantial meal before. The hot breakfasts my colleagues had, from avocado on toast to porridge with poached fruit and nuts, looked much more filling. I briefly thought of trying the granola with yoghurt and fruit compote, but found they'd ran out of it; a puzzling fact, given it was a weekday, and not even 9am.

I shall refer to this as Service Snag Number One - Number Two being speed, Number Three efficiency. Hot drinks took ages to arrive, even though there was no queue at the till; my colleague's tea turned up after fifteen minutes, when she'd already lost all hopes of ever seeing it. Staff members seemed to continuously mix up table numbers, and since we were sitting next to the counter, we had to fend off several offers for stuff we hadn't asked for. The whole thing became quite ridiculous, as we began feeling confused about what we had ordered, and worried we were having hot drinks meant for someone else.

Saying that, I'd choose Prufrock over the far too many chain cafes cluttering the area any time. In fact, I might well trust them with an espresso if I visit again. I'm so fussy with it, I rarely order it the first time I visit a new cafe; I prefer to keep that test for the second date.

The best avocado on toast I've had to date- the bread really made the difference. However, the coffee wasn't that great :( second time in a row... But great place to chill, work and catch up! It's lovely on a Sunday... Not too busy and perfect place to work, people watch and hideaway - all at the same time! Ha

I had much about Prufrock, and this place did good justice to all the praise. Great freshly brewed coffee, and is great to grab if you're around Farringdon :)
My only problem was the amount of that delicious latte I got for 3 quid in the small cup was over by the time I reached Barbican - a short 6 min walk. Wish they made the cups a little bit bigger :)

Definetely one of the best coffee in London!
Visiting independent coffee stores and discovering the best blends is my habit last year in the City of London! I had a flat white (not skinny, cause they dont recommend it) and it was awesome! In addition I tried a slice of banana cake which was delicious!

Atmosphere ... & Service... You feel like home!!!

Congrats!

This place I was taken by two of my friends and they told me the coffee is London's best coffee. I believed as they were just getting modest in rating it but once I had the coffee...I have to say its one of the best...the coffee was smooth and no hastle of making it with sugar and water. I tried the latte and it is one of the specialties of this joint. Really one of the best coffee that I ever had.

I am currently in coffee heaven. The amount of new and good, small independent coffee shops that are popping up in London these days, is blowing my mind. Everywhere I look I’m finding great new shops, some are just serving good coffee, in others there are people who have a real passion, a desire to serve you the best cup of coffee ever, plus dispense advise on which brew is best for you and how to brew it. The best of my recent finds is Prufrock Coffee, I know this place has been going for a while, but I have only recently ventured down Leather Lane. Yeah I know. You know you’re in good hands when one of the owners won the 2009 UK and World Barista Championship, and another employee was runner up in the UK competition in 2012. Not bad. So to say the coffee is fantastic is an understatement. My flat whites have all been flawless and I have contemplated sitting in there all day getting high on my caffeine addiction. They also have a good selection of coffee brewers to buy, and I have jus

close to the diamond shop streets of Farringdon, quite busy during afternoon. Prufrock has a very authentic collection of filtered coffee, from various countries ( Kenya to Brazil) and they succeed in delivering the wide range of options also for tea lovers. the tables are just comfy to accommocate two people, you have stools rather than chair and some diner couches to give a break on. They have a pretty good wi-fi but I did not find the seats as relaxing as the ones in Timberyard, to linger around the place all day may not be possible if that is what you have in mind.

For reading and doing some work-mails, it could be the perfect stop. Feeling peckish, you can just reach over for some veggie sandwiches... and the staff are really enthusiastic to tell you about anything on coffee & tea culture- they also sell some accessories for the coffee afficianados. You will be paying 8-10 quids for 2 cups of coffee/tea.

Prufrock is the pinnacle of all coffee shops in London, owned by Gwilym Davies an ex-world champion barista. As expected from someone of this caliber there is so much attention to detail, a real coffee geeks place. From the coffee beans they use, the way it is ground and the water (& precise temperature) used with it. The flat whites I've had from there have been flawless. If you are in a rush this probably isn't the place for you, good coffee takes a while to make. Well worth taking some time out to have drink in, it's a really nice space as well that doesn't just try and fit as many people in as possible.

Without a doubt, this is the best coffee I’ve had in London. From what I know, this shop was opened by the one and only James Hoffman who knows a thing or two about coffee. It’s definitely more of a sit down type of shop that really allows you to enjoy the coffee and experience so keep that in mind. I’d definitely go out of my way to come back here next time I’m in London.

Probably the best breakfast I've had in London! The coffee, the cappuccino.. the iced latte -> Delicious. Perfectly balanced and with an outstanding flavor! With regard cinnamon roll.. nothing special.. good one but didn't blow my mind. Instead the bread with the poached eggs and hollandaise sauce... incredible. Definitely suggested!

Quite a busy cafe and you have to wait a few minutes to be seated. There is a line, but it moves quickly. The bacon was a bit overcooked and the waffle was the same, disappointed. The staff is very nice and friendly. I got great help in recommending coffee bean suggestions. There is a great street art painting on the whole wall just the opposite the cafe. Heads up and you will find it.

My favourite coffee shop in London. Excellent coffee and tasty food. Table service from the lovely staff really elevates the experience above other spots. Also, thanks to it being tucked away, it's never been heaving when I've visited; I've never had to wait for a table.

Thoroughly enjoyed Prufrock. This is easily one of my favourite places for a coffee in London. Coffee tasted great and I also ordered some eggs benedict and banana sourdough bread - delicious and wholesome. Definitely worth a visit!

Definitely my favourite coffee shop now. Coffee taste is unbeatable, so high quality, plenty of seating, great temperature inside, the staff are so attentive and helpful with picking coffee to buy even. They have great coffee knowledge and the front of house member who served me gave me a delicious filter coffee recommendation. I forgot the name unfortunately but it was an iced filter coffee with milk on the side, which looked so cool when poured (picture shows the milk mixed in). Also had my first meal of the day here, it was cackleberry eggs on toast with a special coffee infused hollandaise on smoked salmon. It was balanced, healthy, and a pleasure to eat. The staff didn’t rush me to leave after I was done, it was an overall pleasant experience and will be visiting again! One star off for atmosphere because some more coffee-shop style music (jazz) would be more relaxing and suitable!

Coffee so good, Mr LA was filling a suitcase with a selection of beans. Gorgeous brunch of perfect, poached eggs, with extra Yorkshire, unctuous bacon. Chilled vibe, so if you are the drama, please don't come here :-) Easy to get to Farringdon, Leather Lane with the Elizabeth line. Loveit.

Wow, Prufrock has set a new standard of what a coffee shop should be like. The coffee was amazing, the service and atmosphere were great and the food was delicious. I dont think I will find another coffee shop that will hit the same marks as Prufrock. If you're a fan of coffee, you need to visit this place!

The best coffee for coffee lovers. No need for sugar, barely needed milk so smooth and delicious. I ordered a filter coffee and the breakfast bun and my boyfriend ordered cappuccino and the benny.
