Decent cappuccino's and delicious cake. Lemon chiffon is a favourite of mine.
I was sent in the direction of this hidden gem on the outskirts of Borough market for its reputable Carrot cake. With apprehension did I seek to be astounded by something that doesn't resemble a traditional carrot cake with its light complexion and passion fruit drizzle atop a mascarpone wedge. But within one mouthful of what could only be described as a rollercoaster of cinnamon, carrot, hazelnut, spice, mascarpone, and passionfruit. It's not that this is the best carrot cake (in the traditional sense), but this an entirely new species of the stuff, and I just want more!
What a delight the pumpkin pie was the die for fresh pie is hard to find at this standard I was very happy will definitely return. Only down fall was unfriendly and lazy staff.
Fudge-packer brownie. OMG. Fudge packer brownie packs a punch of gooey chocolate caramel goodness
It's amazing. Good place to come to after borough market. Pecan brownies are to die for. Not ideal for eat in. Take away like everything else at borough market
When I got handed a new client based in London Bridge, I felt giddy with excitement, like a kid about to open of a stack of shiny Christmas presents. My joy had less to do with the project, than it had with the location: I spent much more time planning my food and drink stops on the way to the first meeting, than the meeting itself. "We'll have lunch in Borough Market!", I said to my colleagues. "And then coffee at Monmouth before the meeting! And we'll go to Konditor and Cook for treats after!". We did all these things, but the one I was most looking forward to was definitely the last.
I've been wanting to try Konditor & Cook for years, but never quite managed to: I'm only ever around London Bridge on Saturdays, when the crowds of market-goers lining up outside the door always scare me into walking away ("Maybe it'll be less busy the next time". Yeah, dream on). Now that I've crossed this visit off my list, I feel every bit as fulfilled as I'd expected. Konditor & Cook looks and feels like a European patisserie, with a beautiful array of cakes, biscuits and dainties on display, and the all-pervading, heavenly smell of flour, sugar and butter baking together. Back home, I've spent many a blissful afternoon in places like this. Heaven knows (and my friends and family, to whom I lament the lack of them in London on a far too regular basis) how much I miss them.
As far as artisan bakeries go, Konditor & Cook is said to be among the best in London. To understand why, just walk into the London Bridge shop, and take a good look at all the sweet things that made their fame. Cue stacks of very chocolatey brownies, biscuits that promise to taste as wonderful as they look, and nicely decorated cakes, including the iconic Curly Whirly (chocolate sponge with vanilla bean icing and chocolate ganache swirls on top). Regulars no doubt have their favourites; I've been recommended those brownies by more people than I can count on two hands. For a first-timer like me, the choice is overwhelmingly vast: it took a good ten minutes to make up my mind, and the lady who served me waited with admirable patience. I was fascinated by the brownies, enticed by the iced cakes; ended up going home with two mini-bites, because I fell in love with the wheat-free Gianduja Mount Hazelnut mini cake at first sight, and simply couldn't leave without it. I'm still dreaming of its smooth gianduja filling, enclosed in a thin, crispy chocolate coating.
Konditor & Cook isn't just for take-away treats, though: they also sell whole cakes, ready made or made to order, and everything on display on the window looks absolutely gorgeous. They serve coffee and hot drinks, too, although there's no seating space enjoy them inside. That's a shame, as staff members are incredibly friendly: you'd be tempted to sit down and have a slice of cake with them. As you prepare to leave with your bundle of joy, they'll hand you a loyalty card (free cake after ten stamps!), and a flyer advertising their cake decorating classes, teaching how to recreate their signature bakes. I've bookmarked them as the next present I'll give myself when I have £40 to spend on a treat (my birthday's only in August - snap). For now, I can only hope to have a chance to visit again; the brownies are still firmly on my list of things to try. Here's to hoping my client needs a project update soon.
A really tiny place to sit down and eat. You will get to know the staff well! I would not advise sitting in. Not because of the standard or service just the space. However take away is a great option. You have the wonderful cathedral gardens to sit in and eat why would you want to be coupled up inside? The cakes here are to die for! So are the brownies. A real treat after a walk around the market!
One of the best brownies in town. And tgere are different flavours .. all equally good. My favourite is 'pecan caramel'. And they have a loyalty card so don't forget to get your stamps because this is one shop you will visit more than once :)
Friendly service. :) And indeed the best mince pie I’ve tasted in London - not too sweet, with buttery fragrant crust. Excited to try the great selection of pastries, brownies and cakes!
Truly delicious cakes and a fine selection to choose from! The service is also second to none, as they really helped me pick out the perfect cake for the Mrs. birthday!!
Amazing seasonal cakes and great service. Plenty of samples to try as well. The Amaretto chocolate cake and the whiskey bomb are to die for
Great friendly service by Zuzanna. Excellent recommendation on the cake even if we were persuaded by a 4 year old to pick the cake as it was pink 😂🤣 She gives the gingerbread two thumbs up being the connoisseur that she is.
The staff were welcoming and warm. Despite my friend and I taking a while to decide! A nice calming environment to catch up with friends. Will definitely go back.
They have honestly the best brownies I have ever tasted! Rich and gooey without being sickly sweet. Their Victoria sponge is also a must.
Incredible cakes and hot chocolate. The ingredients they use are amazing. I've never had a cake that has such a rich flavor without relying too much on excessive sugar.
The staff was very friendly, they had free samples (after a taste, you will have to buy a slice), the prices were reasonable, and I walked out with the taste of the best cake I have ever eaten still lingering in my mouth (Chocolate Noisette Cake). It's a hard five-stars.
Amazing coffee, great service and delicious treats. Make sure to try the mini passion fruit tarts - they are delicious and only £1. Plus they have blueberry muffins filled with real blueberries for only 60p! Where else in London could you get that? The staff are super pleasant and even helped me across the street with my coffees. Love it.
I love this shop. It sells a whole variety of ludicrously unhealthy delights. I love their passion fruit cake, but I've tried at least a dozen different types, including their brownies. I've never been Disappointed. If you want a calorific treat for yourself or a special cake for an event, look no further.
Lovely Konditor branch run by Morcelo and her fantastic team, with exceptional customer service. When I arrived to pick up a big cake I’d ordered that was found to have been a bit roughed-up during delivery, they went the extra mile to offer adequate recompense. That’s before stating the obvious i.e. very tasty cakes. And their hot chocolate is rather lush as well.
The curly whurly cake is delicious and is a must try for anyone with a sweet tooth. They're always a hit for friends' birthdays. The chocolate isn't too rich, and the icing not too sweet. It's just right! The price is reasonable, and in line with most bakeries, but is definitely one of my favourites.
A bit too fabulous cake wise. I ordered cakes here for my wedding and people are still talking about them 2 years later. The raspberry and hazelnut cake is my favourite. The brownies are moist and delicious keep coming back and work your way through!
It was a surprise for me that they Konditor and Cook offer delivery services. Now I have no excuse not to buy their cakes.
I recommend trying the coffee walnut cake. It is covered with walnuts and the cream on the top is quite tasty. The brownie boxes are also delicious. The atmosphere in the small bakery is normal, but I prefer ordering sweet products and eat them at home in front of my big TV screen, while watching my favourite TV shows and movies.
Everything there looks amazingly tasty! The s’mores pie is delicious!
Oh my days... I just had a passionate fruit lemon meringue tart from Konditor & Cook, and, well, it was quite frankly amazing. A tiny taste sensation - tangy, crumbly and impossible to eat without licking your lips. I also picked up a Curly Wurly cupcake, which a friend of a friend had highly recommended - saving that one for later. The staff here are also extremely lovely, chatty and smiley.
