Our fave place for breakfast/brunch when we visit London. Always busy and buzzing atmosphere. You may have to wait for a table as they are always so busy but the staff are very switched on and if they say 10 minutes then they will seat you within that time. Great choice of breakfasts, teas, coffees and juices.

Very busy when we walked in at around 11am. We hadn't made a booking. They had a table outside for us which was nice enough. Had the pancakes and the avo on toast. Food was served warm and tasted good but I am sure it's a better experience if you are seated inside.

I heard brilliant things about this place, particularly their brunch and I'm happy to report that it meets all expectations! I had the chorizo hash, which was good, but was REALLY impressed by the French Toast (which used brioche bread and whipped butter). My friend expressed regret at getting a small eggs benedict when a larger one would have been best.

I recommend reserving a week in advance as we had to take the 930 am slot but it was quieter and the service was speedy so I didn't mind the early breakfast!

One of the bucket-list dishes for my trip to the UK was the classic beef wellington, something that I’ve wanted to eat ever since I first came across its existence amongst Gordon Ramsey’s many recipes. The idea of a beautifully tender fillet of beef encased in a mushroom paste and flaky puff pastry evoked such a feeling of extreme comfort and decadence that I knew I had to try it for myself. My research yielded a handful of potential restaurants, from the very expensive to the somewhat dodgy, so K and I finally settled on The Riding House Café, a nice restaurant/café that fell somewhere in the middle of the pack.

Went to this cafe for Sunday breakfast. The place is quite big with ample fresh light from the big windows. Everything we ordered was good - we had avacado on toast, poached eggs, chorizo hash brown with eggs and museli. Chocolate banana smoothie was just above average. They should probably hire more staff during busy hours. We had to wait a fair bit to order our food and get our bill.

Without a doubt, The Riding House Café is one of the most popular eateries in Fitzrovia. I have often heard of friends meeting there for work lunches or weekend brunches. Recently, I finally booked a Saturday brunch (served 12-4pm) with a friend and was fortunately to book a slot a few days before. The venue is very popular and there was a queue of people waiting for brunch so I was fortunate I hadn’t been disorganised enough to chance a walk-up!

It was a Sunday morning and it was time for breakfast.  But with the Delaunay breaking my bank the other day, I decided to stay away from bloggers' suggestions and instead depended on my robot partner Siri.  First on her list was an Australian place called Granger & Co. in Notting Hill but it was an hour wait.  With not time to waste,  I asked again and Siri recommended the Breakfast Club in Oxford Circus.  Alas, it was another one hour wait! For the third and final attempt, Siri recommended the Riding House Cafe just a few minutes walk from the Breakfast Club.

Do you guys remember when brunch suddenly became the thing to do instead of brekkie/lunch dates? A number of antipodean cafes became prominent with their all-day petit dejeuner menus and their Brit counterparts started grasping the concept of serving small sharing plates from mid-morning til late arvo. It's become a well-embraced social affair as people get to sleep in longer before getting a hangover cure that's more exciting than a typical fry-up and definitely more substantial than the sorry kebab one forgot to finish after last night's revelry.

The Riding House Café was one of the first places I've hit when the brunch phenomenon boomed. Located just off Oxford Circus, the place has a relaxed vibe with its overall decor seemingly designed to give punters a breather from the foot-traffic hell of Oxford Street. The space itself is massive with a bar area, a restaurant area, and a private dining room downstairs.

It's an "all-day brasserie" with intense queues and menus that has everything for everyone. Eggs? Check. Porridge? Superfood? Check. Pork Belly? Check. Sunday roast? Check. Something small? Yep. Something massive? Oui. Hair of the dog? You know it.

Before a trip to London, I did a search for breakfast spots and came across to Riding House Cafe. It was close to my hotel, went there on weekday and easily found a table. Second time, wanted to go there on Sunday but it was full, so good to make reservation before go. Pancakes and French toast is phenomenal. They don't have iced chocolate on the menu but I asked for it and they made it instantly! Nice atmosphere, great food, lovely staff. Definitely back again!

Does the photos not speak for themselves? I have a soft spot for Eggs Benedicts, I have to order it everytime I go have brunch.  The Eggs Benedict served here was top notch, the hollandaise sauce is creamy and thick, and look at that egg yolk! Runny egg yolk, on a crispy bacon and soft muffin, nothing beats that on a lazy Sunday catchup.

I stumbled upon Riding House on google when searching for 'London's best pancakes'. Wherever that list was, it was not wrong.
It's preferable to book for brunch on weekends, there's a reason it's busy.
Unless you're dining with a bigger group, grab a stool at the bar. It's my favourite spot to watch the comings and goings from the kitchen.
Pillowy soft buttermilk pancakes come with maple syrup and fresh fruit. Full cooked breakfasts, avocado on toast, porridge, granola; you name it, they have it.
I just need to return and try the dinner menu now!

I made my first trip to The Riding House Cafe last weekend to meet some friends for brunch and a good catch-up. I was really looking forward to it. My mum actually owned one of the flats above the cafe in the 70s; just imagine how cool Fitzrovia would have been then! I love this part of London. The place just oozes coolness; no expense spared or detail overlooked. It is beautifully designed. I imagine a great spot for cocktails in the evening.

If there's one thing I love more than breakfast, it's being out of the office at a working breakfast and the best place for a working breakfast has to be the Riding House Cafe on Great Titchfield Street.

If you go mid-week, you'll find tables filled with twentysomething media types brainstorming, networking and working on their big ideas and this day was no different, in fact Abbey Clancey was being interviewed by a journo on the very table next to me! (yes she's more beautiful in real life and no she didn't eat anything!).

The menu at the Riding House is pretty varied, you can go for sweet or savoury depending on whether you fancy pancakes or eggs - always a tough choice in my mind - and they do really great smoothies which are served in milk bottles. On this occasion, I opted for the avocado on toast with poached eggs - but i can also vouch for the buttermilk pancakes! And the Chorizo hash browns....and the eggs benedict.....

I went the other evening, got served at 9pm with no problem and enjoyed a mix of dishes with a friend (langoustines, pork belly, burger and chorizo has browns). All were excellent. Now I need to find an excuse to go there for breakfast!

Love Love Love. Considering this place had only been opened for a day our evening there gets 10/10. Firstly the look and feel is just right, agree that you feel a million miles away from Oxford Street and transported to Brooklyn. Ambience just right, great vide and layout, design and furnhishings means that no one is on top of each other, you can hold a conversation, feel comfortable and see each other( and see what your eating) . The service was impeccable, given that the staff hadnt been there that long they knew the menu, extremley friendly, wanted to get to know us and attended to our every needs and had good fun.
Food delicious. Small plates great option for sharing and nice to see some variety and new options, oysters to your table a winner, sharing Sea Bass and veggie cake yummy. Sides all perfect but could be a little larger. Puddings were a bit too on the large side but hey that's not a complaint - they are great to share.
All in all a fantastic evening, we didnt want to leave. A perfect place for meetings too as there's a variety of places to sit at. They are still new and there are a few things that need looking at but you can tell they are onto it already and this is going to be a big hitter with the Fitzrovia creative, ad and fashion set. There's nothing not to like about this. NYC dining comes to London !!! Plus 50% off your food bill....why not ?
Good Luck to the team there, look forward to coming back soon !

I love the idea of brunch. What perfect timing to eat, especially on the weekends when one is too lazy to get out of bed. I have been on the hunt for great brunches in the London food scene and after much research, I discovered this cute, not so little restaurant. The Riding House Cafe shows off the desired quality of being on a quiet street but at the same time being located near a very busy and accessable place. You may  have heard of this busy place... Oxford Circus? Anyway, it was a nice casual day. I had just flown into London so all I needed was a nice welcome greeting from the London food scene. It was Saturday and the sun was still out so I thought to myself "why not brunch?" I went on a nice walk from chaotic Oxford Circus to calm Thitchfield road and before I knew it I was in the restuarant waiting for FK to arrive. Unfortunately she was running late so I had a lot of time to observe the restuarant decor and the people around me which is always a fun to do.  The restuarant ambience was very lively and had just the right level of background noise. Not so loud that you have to talk over other people and not to so quiet that you're dying for some background music. The restaurant atmosphere is also dynamic in the sense that it suits different occasions. I could tell because there were groups of all kinds: couples, families, small friend groups and large friend groups. Time flew by and FK arrived so it was time to eat! I ordered quickly as I had so much time study the menu. I decided to start with the small Lobster Benedict. I couldn't help my self; it was the first time I had seen this on a menu. This starter was pleasant but, with faults. I liked how much better the dish tasted with lobster compared to traditionally putting ham. Also, the egg yolk gloriously poured onto the plate as I cut through the poached egg which is something I always look for. Although it was for the most part a nice dish, it was too cold. I believe this was the main downfall of this di

The Riding House Cafe, with the team behind Village East, has already created a good buzz. The promotional 50% off the food bill - running onwards until early May - was partly responsible, though not to the extent of the long queue at Kimchee High Holborn. I suppose there were not as many office workers and Asian students lurking on Great Titchfield Street. I did not have to wait at the door but seated straightaway at the bar adjacent to the salad station. Minimalist dining room. One massive communal table - all wooden - with decorative pots of lavender. One long handsome bar. The kitchen was in the back but you could still see the brigade in action. BUT, who on earth was serving me? Lots and lots of lovely looking guys in brogue shoes, smart dark denim jeans and tailored jackets dashed about in the dining room…all shirted I must add, or else they would be too much of "visual" appetisers. 5-10 minutes of awkwardness ensued. Unsure who were, indeed, waiters, I couldn't bring myself to

It's a well run, happy place and a perfect addition to the neighbourhood. I’m definitely hoping they’re part of the local dining scene for a long time to come. The lunch and dinner menu is more substantial than the Cafe moniker might suggest. Plates of small sharing food occupy the top half of the menu, neatly priced at £3, £4 or £5, a popular recent trend and here pleasingly priced.

I have a new favourite place - the Riding House Cafe on the corner of Great Titchfield Street (home to my faves Kaffeine and Scandi Kitchen ) and surprise, surprise Riding House Street. It's a big old place (the photo doesn't do it justice) and I seem to remember it being some sort of run of the mill cafe/restaurant before - but perhaps not the whole space. I went there once for a work lunch for a job I had briefly many years ago at a really crappy TV company. Anyway I digress - whatever was there before, the entire block is now the wonderful Riding House Cafe and you just have to go! The decor is brilliant - I do love a Frenchy, New Yorky, quirky brasserie feel and this place has it down pat - great wooden panelling, really cool lighting (including some fantastic wall lights that incorporate stuffed squirrels), a fantastic bar that just begs to be sat at for long cocktail-soaked evenings and wonderful leather banquette seating. And the food - well my friends, prepare to be delighted -

The Riding House café has been on my radar since it opened earlier this year, but for many reasons, some best not mentioned we've just never managed to go there and eat. These things happen you see. But finally we managed it. About time. So this Sunday we turned up with reservation in hand for Sunday lunch, which actually turned out to be more of a brunch event instead, as we were still kinda heady from dinner the night before at Bistro Du Vin. We were coming to an end of a celebratory weekend for welcoming my wife back from 3 weeks in Ecuador. She was in need of some good food. So with slight hangovers and really not wanting to eat that much we opted for their lighter options. Not their small plates I might add. I am kinda getting tired of small plates at the mo, I long for the day when small plates are so last year. So a while to go then. We were seated in the rather opulent but not dining room, with its large red padded seats and quirky lamps made out of old plumbing parts. Very sn

As a big brunch fan, Riding House Cafe was always on my radar. The first sign of a good brunch establishment is coffee - my Iced Americano hit the spot. I asked for a custom off-the-menu dish and the staff were only too happy to oblige - two poached eggs, smoked salmon and toast. The bread was a bit too toasted for me but everything else was very good. My friend and I shared a side of pancakes which were simply divine. Would go back.

I love the name and I love everything about this “all-day brasserie”. I went on my friend’s recommendation and I haven’t looked back ever since. They not only do an amazing brunch menu but you also want to order pretty much everything from their lunch and dinner menu. They are always fully booked over the weekend so best to book in advance or if you’re feeling adventurous, you can always try your luck by walking in without a booking.

Whether you order something off their breakfast menu or the brunch, lunch or dinner menu- you won’t be disappointed. Some of my favourites have been their Lobster lasagne (a MUST try), Longhorn Beef and Bone Marrow Burger, Roasted Guinea Fowl and Beef Wellington. Every time I had been, they would run out of the Lobster lasagne (clearly a favourite) so I was glad to finally try it!

From pre work breakfast cravings to post work dinner and drinks, this place is magical at point of the day. One should however, make sure that they order the short ribs from the menu as they are sumptuous. The hash browns are of top notch quality as well I would be going back to this place more often than ever thanks to the newly found love for there chorizos!

Good place where to go for brunch. Staff is well trained.

The atmosphere is homey. The dishes are well presented. We ordered pancakes and one omelette to share, which were very satisfying. We asked for a smoothie to drink, but it was not what I would define as special or memorable.

Prices are good.
However, they should improve their drinks and tables' organization. Indeed, it is a quite loud environment. It is worth the try.

I went there for brunch with a friend. Everything was perfect from start to end. We've been given a table near the window, it was a rainy day, so it felt nice and cosy. The waitress was very attentive and provided us with advice when we were hesitating about our order. I ordered the pancakes, which were really delicious, one of the best pancakes that I've ever had in London. Their cappuccino was not great though, but it was okay.
The ambiance is very warm and cozy, and it seemed like a place to celebrate, because there was a table celebrating something next to ours.
The price was adequate, I paid around £14.
Bottom line, I would definitely go back .

I like the crepes and it's quite close to Oxford Circus. Very good place for a little rest and a quick bite between shopping time. And a lazy brunch here is good.

This café is mainly known for its incredible brunch. They make all kinds of eggs as well as scrumptious buttermilk pancakes that are highly recommendable. Their smoothies come in simplistic jars, which add to the overall loft look of the place.

The crowd is a mix between students, families and couples that are enjoying the fresh food. The staff is quick to bring the food as they try to accommodate for as many customers as possible, which makes you feel a little rushed.

I would suggest reserving before hand, as the café is always fully booked. However, if you are lucky and are going for brunch during the week, you might be able to pop by and get a table by just waiting for 10 minutes.

In a previous post about M1lk, I explained the concept of 'brunch' - a Sunday favourite spent dining at mid-morning with the paper after a leisurely lie-in after a long week. Given how long brunch has been around both across the Atlantic and even further abroad in the antipodes, it's surprising that it took so long to catch on in London but that's now changed with a whole swath of places now here to meet the demand of the masses. But before all this, in the relatively quiet streets of Fitzrovia, brunch had become a done thing, a Sunday ritual, at The Riding House Cafe.

As you walk in, your attention is immediately turns to the decor and it's clear that no expense has been spared creating a relaxed and comfortable dining environment which transports you back to yester-year. To dine in the splendour of the restaurant itself. But we're here for food so let's not lose focus, no matter how hard that is.

On this day, we had:
- the chorizo hash brown with mushroom and poached egg;
- kedgeree with poached egg and pea shoot; and
- a side of bubble and squeak.

The dishes were all lovely and very palatable with the chorizo hash proving to be a real highlight - a really fantastic dish bursting with flavour and if you're a chorizo fan, you really shouldn't miss. However, for a curry based dished, the kedgeree surprisingly lacked flavour but a pinch of salt can do wonders. In any case, both dishes were quite hearty so if you come hungry, you won't be disappointed.

All in all, a solid meal in quite beautiful and relaxed surroundings. A definite yes if you find yourself in the area or plan to be on Oxford street for the day.

A busy, buzzing cafe. The food we had didn't quite live up to the hype and was a little hit or miss, happy to give the place another go though.

The riding house café is one of the West End worst kept breakfast secrets. You will find it on most of the lists for “top brunches in London”, so I thought it was high time that I tested it out!

Located north of busy Oxford street, on the corner of Great Titchfield street and Little Titchfield street, don’t expect a safe haven from the crowds because when we arrived at about 11am on Saturday, it was packed! In fact, we booked a table a couple of weeks in advance (for 6), in order to get in.

The décor is interesting; a mix of classic French brasserie and modern distressed panelling. Rickety old chairs sit alongside plush dining chairs (I was pleased we had a table with the comfy looking sort!). It is heavily stylized, everything has been thought about. Even the Dyson hand dryer in the toilets is cased in a beaten metal, to keep the theme running throughout. The service was good; relaxed and not rushed, despite it being very busy. The coffee was strong and hot, the way it should be.

The breakfast menu is extensive, from Kedgeree to pancakes, but the most importantly includes “The full and proper breakfast” (£10.50). And what that means is two fried eggs, on white toast, a sausage, streaky bacon, black pudding, mushroom, tomato and baked beans. Nicely presented, on a plate that was basically a ceramic frying pan, all the ingredients are there to make this a top fry-up. And in parts it was, the black pudding was delicious, slightly laced with chilli, it was just a shame there was so little of it on the plate. The bacon and eggs were fine, without being outstanding. It was great to have a breakfast with beans on, but why I only got a thimble full is beyond me. The sausage wasn’t really up to scratch; it was quite dry as if it had been sitting about for a while and tasted rather bland.

The Riding House Cafe has a unique charm to it with its rustic yet modern feel. The atmosphere is relaxed and has a lovely smell. The best part of this experience is their scrumptious breakfasts and perfect hangover milkshakes! Food here seems fresh and my eggs were cooked to perfection. I would recommend it, especially for a relaxed Sunday brunch.

It’s not often you like a place so much that you find yourself back there at exactly the same time the following week. Having been tipped off about The Riding House Cafe by the wonderful This City Life London (check out her blog, she’s fab) and knowing that Friend N was going to be in London for her last visit for quite some time (she’s gone back to the other side of the world for a while, that makes me desperately sad but we have a knack of building in a pay-day cocktail sooner than we think we will) I booked a table for two in March.

N loves brunch and cocktails, I love brunch and cocktails. Great minds really do think alike. We were on the same page when we came out buzzing from our (non-alc) brunch at Riding House.

Their brunch menu has a good mix of sweets and savouries so N went for the chorizo hash browns and I went for my usual pancakes with a side of bacon. Both were outstanding and we gobbled down every mouthful perhaps a bit too quickly. Portion sizes were really good and we kind of rolled out of the place at the end of our meal.

The atmosphere was buzzing and the service on both times I went was some of the best I’ve seen in London, particularly for such a busy place.

I went back the following week with S, G and R. This time I decided to pace myself and just went for the poached pear with Greek yoghurt and granola along with another breakfast cocktail. Both were delicious and I still left full and very happy that the service was just as good as the week before.

You have to book a table in order to make it for brunch at the Riding House Cafe. Go and book now – this is a London secret that’s quickly becoming not so secret. Sssssshhh…

The Riding House Cafe can be found at 43-51 Great Titchfield Street, on the corner of Riding House Street (funnily enough). Both times we paid £13-15 each and left full and very happy. One to keep on the list.

Seeing as the Riding House Café first shot onto my radar as a tidy place to go for some breakfast with my colleagues (we ended up at Starbucks instead, obviously), I’m not sure how this rustic little brasserie, near Broadcasting House, turned into another round of Battle of the Cocktails with the dashing Miss E…

Before I make sense of that, howsabout a little background. It starts off with Village London, a collection of standalone restaurants which, according to their blog,

“…try to be important to and cherished by creative London communities in which they live”

So what is sounding off for you first - the BS-ometer or just general alarm bells of condescending bunk that sadly, for many restaurants about town, translates into ‘marketing’? Or maybe, just maybe, could Village London be onto something here?

Village London began as The Garrison, a pub in Bermondsey which was opened in 2003 by Clive Watson and Adam White, two relatively unassuming blokes who “…were enjoying their work in hospitality more than the careers they had originally set out to pursue” - so as a Human Resourcer in hotels, I am on their side immediately. One became two, and soon The Garrison was joined by a brasserie, Village East, in Bermondsey also. Then, in 2011, came the Riding House Café. What’s in a name? Not sure, but I assume that it refers to a place on the site where those travelling by coach and horse would gather to eat, drink and be merry and not, say, a brothel.

Riding House Café (R.H.C.) is a self-styled modern all-day brasserie, and of course the day starts with breakfast. R.H.C.’s brekkie menu looks great - it’s why my office were looking at going here in the first place - an extensive selection of simple staples like porridge or pancakes, thorough to the Full English and on to classics like an Arnold Bennett omelette or Eggs Hussard. It’s all very thoughtful, like someone has taken care to consider what to offer the masses. This approach is time well spent really, as this place can, and does, get very busy, occupying a prime site on the corner of two roads heading to the most central part of Central London, in the heart of Fitzrovia. A place needs to stake its claim to remain competitive around these parts.

So what does R.H.C. do to differentiate? Well, let’s start with what it does to appeal to London’s fashionable foodivores. It calls itself a ‘café’. In much the same way that Berners Tavern, a couple of blocks East is not a tavern (Jay Rayner has written a wonderfully sarcy piece about the current bollocks of restaurant etymology), R.H.C. is definitely not a café. I have never been to a café where you are given a tag for your coats and scarves, a café where, if you have a party of six or more - or simply want to mingle - are ushered towards a ‘sharing table’, a candelabra-lit lengthy slab straight outta Game of Thrones, or a café where the typical breakfast drink is less builders tea and more Morning Rooster - made with tequila, triple sec, agave, grapefruit and marmalade.

Yes… it is a little pretentious. It’s another restaurant - and I am losing count of them now - which seems to buy its furnishings from Steptoe and Son, where we sit on rickety chairs and the fire exit behind us blows a chilly draft until it’s clumsily kicked and punched shut by the waiter. Your napkin is a tea towel, and face it, that became tired when Jamie started to relentlessly open his Italians. There comes a time though when a diner in London needs to turn a blind eye to this type of decor, for the time being, this is clearly what people like Kevin McCloud are telling us to immerse ourselves in. There were at least three Kevin McCloud lookalikes in R.H.C. that evening. So my advice to you is grab the cocktail menu and indulge. Soon the scrubbed wood and aged-effect metalwork becomes a warm backdrop to an inevitably fantastic evening.

You could simply use R.H.C. as a bar, its drinks are that good. Plus, I guess that substituting food with fruity, rum-based beverages is a handy little diet that so far scythes under the radar of likes of the Atkins, tapeworms and such like. All along the length of the far wall was the bar, full of people - and they all looked as happy as the eaters. We smashed the cocktail menu - simple in its presentation - where each of the sections throws up a special drink or two. A Begroni, from the ‘Negroni’ section, was made with Innis & Gunn beer, maple syrup, Campari and Dubonnet, and soundly kicked E’s Ginger Bee (from the ‘Horticultural’ corner) into touch, though the Bee, with vodka, ginger wine and apple juice, was still spesh. It came with a chunk of gingery as garnish. Cue “let’s eat the raw ginger” game. A drink, whose name I forget, was similar to a Zombie, laced with rum and lengthened with citrus - and it rocked out. A Honey Berry Sour, thickened with egg white and essentially berry and booze done six ways - was rich, sugary and fabulous.

In-between sucking back the cocktails, we managed to have dinner as well. The all-day à la carte menu (there are brunch menus, as well as brekkie) could be a textual representation of a man in a suit, leaning back in his chair, feet on the desk. Smart, yes, professional in appearance, but also a little but naughty and relaxed. P.S. if my boss is reading this, I have never done that.

Starters come in the form of small plates, this thing now known (by me only) as British Tapas, similar to Duck and Waffle, or Plum + Spilt Milk. Cod tongues with deep-fried pickles were tasty and crispy, but drew debate as to whether they were actual tongues or fish chunks shaped like tongue (gourmand I ain’t), tuna tartare with pomelo and shallots was damn-near-perfect umami fare, but the star of the show was the veal and pork sausage with lentils, which is, my friends, how sausage should be, apart from a personal yearning for it to be served in greater abundance than appetiser-size.

I struggled to choose from the small plates - a few tastes are not catered for (I would love to see a cheese-based starter or some kind of beef on offer) but the mains are as disparate and inviting as even the most fussy eater will need. This is a menu where Beef Wellington appears right above a chorizo hash brown, a breakfasty hunk of stodge that sounded a bit rough but potentially tasty - so I’m glad E ordered it because I was dying to see why it was like. Let’s face it - like the best foods - it arrived looking a mess but tasted damn good, more Spanish than British but rich with the spice of chorizo and balanced just enough to make a good meal. I was torn between Lobster Lasagne (I read an article which described lasagne as ‘spaghetti-flavoured cake’) and pheasant with bacon lardons and cabbage, but alas, I think the drink was talking and I chickened out with a cheese burger. However, this burger is worth a mention as…

Wait for it…

Wait for it…

Possibly one of the best I have had, ever. Even against the bastions of London patty pushers, The Gun and MEATliquor. I ordered it medium and it arrived medium-to-rare. Now, I don’t want to get too slushy but we could retro-analyse Carl Sagan’s Pale Blue Dot photo and say that, in this expanse of space, there is this meagre dot, faint in the background - Earth. In that whole photo, god knows how many million light years in breadth, we can say that the chef’s decision to undercook that burger is the greatest mistake ever made. Because that burger was juicy, rich, of unmeasurable quality and just brilliant.

We replaced pudding with another round of cocktails so I couldn't say what the desserts were like, though as you may expect, Britishisms like chocolate fondant, rhubarb and cheese (no, not on the same plate) are on offer. When I return here, I’ll try the Toblerone cocktail - practically a dessert in itself - from the ‘Hard Shakes’ section. A drink with - and I quote - “Baileys, Frangelico, Kahlúa, honey, chocolate, ice cream, milk and cream” is simply not going to disappoint. Come on - read that again and try not to cry - it’s more emotionally wrenching than The Bear and the Hare…

So on that heart-warming note I’ll just say that R.H.C. is like a great big hug, a place that you never want to escape from. Not only because of the food - which hardly skipped a beat, but because of the fun staff and dare I say it… the way the place looks. Even R.H.C.’s website, with Spotify link to the music they play in-house, recommended reading and general bloggy-ness, suggests a restaurant at ease with what it is - a quality amongst London eateries rarer than tuna tartare.

It’s loveable, familiar and genuinely good here, and the only other place that I can say that about is Browns. The Riding House is a one-off, feels special and very 2013, and that makes it different to Browns. And to be different - in the words of Coco Chanel - is to be irreplaceable. To be cherished.

I went here for a birthday evening meal and it was excellent. An interesting menu and absolutely delicious food. I really recommend the chataeubriand to share, the meat is really good quality and wonderful sides to accompany. There was a great atmosphere, nice lighting and a buzzy bar area which all added to the experience. I've heard great things about the brunch and breakfast as well so will definitely be trying that out soon!

This was my second visit to the RHC, and although the steak tartar small bite is now off the menu (very sad, it was delicious), my friend and I had a great night. We each had a small bite and then a main. I also had the hot cinnamon donuts dessert which was ridiculously good. My friend had an alcoholic milkshake/cocktail for dessert which was also nice. Service was very good as usual. Had a great table. Would recommend and will be back!

I've been here a fair few times, for two different options: a leisurely weekend brunch and an early evening round of cocktails. On both counts, Riding House Cafe is a major success. It's smoked salmon and eggs was done to a tee and reasonably priced, with good service and a relaxed atmosphere. However it's in the early evening that this place really comes to life. The bar gets lively without feeling too crowded and the cocktails and truly delicious. For a few drinks with friends in a place that's relaxed but also glamorous, I'd thoroughly recommend it.

It was New Year's day. I was after not just a meal, but a meal and a half. London on New Year's day is in a unique state of paralysis, and this applies to the restaurant scene. Not many places were open. But the Riding House Cafe was. And I had heard big things. Could it deliver.

I hadn't booked, but when I got there for lunch, it was rammed to the brim. I didn't think too much of this: there is limited choice of places to go, of course this place will clear up, I thought. But all the same, the decor is the very definition of chic. It feels like the sort of place you'd want to be see if you worked in fashion or advertising. Fortunately, they could seat me and a friend all the same - at the bar.

The bar was comfortable. I ordered the scrambled egg and salmon. But I really fancied some bacon, and it had been taken off the menu. So I asked nicely, and the man behind the bar, who couldn't have been more obliging, jumped to attention and sorted some out for me. The food was pinpoint perfect - the eggs considerately cooked, the salmon fresh and thinly sliced, and the bacon hitting the spot. And the portions were generous - I struggled to make my way through the whole dish. My friend went with the burger, and noted that for a non-speciality burger place, it wasn't half bad.

I'll be back to the Riding House Cafe, you can be sure of that. Though something tells me that I might need to book on any other day but New Year's day.

Screw Flanders.

How not to like this funky-modern-lively-bustling brasserie? First I love the decor: there is attention to detail in everything, from blue velvet chairs to dark wood and squirrel lamps. Second, the menu runs from small plates to gastropub-style main courses but you can also have breakfast, brunch and Sunday roast... basically whatever you are in the mood for

This is my favorite brunch and breakfast place in London. Food and drinks are really original, and the atmosphere of the place is completely different from anything else that you'll see in London. Definitely try the different juice/cocktail combos that the menu offers. If you can, ask to sit at the far back of the restaurant next to the windows, rather than to the left of the entrance, as the back is much nicer.

Riding House is by far my new favourite bar in London. Great atmosphere, very polite and helpful staff, a great range of drinks and plenty of space. Unlike most, less successful, London bars, Riding House allowed us in graciously without a booking and politely moved us to alternative seating when others, with bookings, arrived. First-class hospitality, decor and customer service!

An mazing place to go and have a few evening cocktails and a light bite to eat. The bistro menu with a few interesting twists offers something different form your usual "bar food", but includes staples like a burger and mac n cheese. Wines by the glass, carafe, half or bottle are all amazing and very well selected to pair with food - there is also a wine flight offering to add to your meal. There's an amazing atmosphere in here, even during these strange times with new rules and guidelines. The table are well spaced enough as it is that it offers a very comfortable dining experience.

I absolutely loved it!!! I loved the food and I was impressed by the design of the place. I was not impressed by the staff but I will not leave that to have an impact on my review because I understand they are only humans and they might have just been too tired because the place was super busy. So regarding this I recommend you to book a table especially if you plan to go there for brunch. Enjoy it!!
