Last week I went to Tziganos on a thursday. I was pleasantly surprised that Henry Defoe was playing. His music was just right for the venue, and having a civilised and enjoyable conversation with amazing food. As usual my pasta and wine were outstanding, Tziganos is an all around great place to go ,,not to mention the friendly staff and great location off the high street

Only popped in for a cup of tea, but the lady couldn't be more helpful and the large cup of tea was beautifully served. Nice range of Italian products but we weren't shopping.

This Spanish tapas and Mediterranean restaurant opened up approximately 2-3 years ago and I liked it so much that I visited about 5 times in the space of 6 months...and then, on one occasion, something wasn't quite to my liking. I can't remember which dish it was or whether it was just that my expectations were so high from numerous previous great experiences there. Either way, completely subconsciously, I ended up having along hiatus before returning and with mixed feelings of how it would be, I finally rectified that a couple of weeks ago.

You know how it can be healthy for all relationships to have a bit of space? Well, I think the same goes for those restaurants that you have become too clingy with because it seems space was all I needed to remember all the reasons why I love this place so much.

With a great choice of tapas options, mussels, pizzas and main courses, it can be hard to decide which way to go but I have almost always stuck with tapas as I'm simply too much of a sucker for any meal that allows me to try lots of different flavours and dishes.

And so, we luckily managed to walk in at 8pm on a Friday night with no reservation and bag ourselves the last free table for 2. Close call but seated away, we started ordering and my eyes couldn't get past the garlic bread with chorizo, mozarrela and caramelised shallots. It's a large portion for just one so make sure you keep this in mind for sharing (not that you'll actually want to when you realise how good it tastes). We supplemented this with some padron peppers with a sprinkling of sea salt on top. (You should always have some greens of course) and some delicious fried crispy zucchini.

The gambas al ajilo were cooked well but could have done with a touch more garlic and the chicken wings were bursting with flavour.

Our orders were taken quickly for mains and our food was brought to us at a reasonable time. No one tried to rush us out, which was also nice given how busy they were although we did have to wait a while before anyone offered us dessert menus and eventually, sympathising with how clearly rushed off their feet the waiting staff were, we just asked for the dessert menus ourselves.

I was torn between the Sicilian cannolo, which I had recently eaten a few times on holiday in Italy but eventually, stuck to the concept of "better the devil you know" and their hugely portioned Tiramisu is one delicious devil of a dessert.

Revisiting it after so long made me realised how much delicious great food from a huge menu I had missed out on. I'll definitely return and one of these days, if I can ever resist the tapas, I will try and order the pizzas and paellas, both of which looked fabulous when we were spying on other diners' plates.

Visited on a quiet Thursday evening with work colleagues. Even though the restaurant wasn't full, there was great ambiance. They have different deals each day of the week and Thursdays is 3 Tapas dishes for £25 or 7 Tapas dishes for £50, there are some restrictions but you can still get a very good deal. On the tapas menu is a wide variety of veggie, meaty and fish/seafood options. I split 7 tapas with a colleague and due to extreme hunger, I don't have photos of all 7 dishes but please believe that they were all delicious. I was a little taken aback that the salmon dish only had two chunks of salmon but the courgette and beans underneath were so delicious, that I forgive them. The octopus tentacles were absolutely delectable, great flavour and the perfect texture. Our cauliflower and broccoli could have been a bit more al dente but once again the flavour was amazing and the toasted almonds added a bit of much-needed crunch. Customer service is very friendly, knowledgeable and professional, if you have any questions, Tony will gladly answer you, he has such passion for hospitality and it really shows. The tables are all high tables with the high seats but the seats do have backs on them and rungs to rest your feet so they're not dangling the whole time. If you have mobility issues be aware that the nearest toilet is on the first floor.

On Friday the 13th of October was certainly a night to remember for all the right reasons as I Celebrated my Daughter's 21st birthday with this being a complete surprise for her! This would not have been possible without the assistance of the Manager Antonio being a fantastic host in his organising the tables , allowing balloons to be set up also bringing forward the cake. The Mediterranean mix of Italian and spanish cusine food was beautifully prepared and tasting wonderful and for the great cocktails this all made for a perfect evening. Thank you Antonio .

After living around the village for 10 years my partner and I decided to give a go and have some drinks and nibbles at Tziganos. The overall experience was great, from the service to the food. You can tell straight way that the team is very focus in providing the best experience to their customers, friendly team of 3 last night, the orders were taken with in minutes. We only had chorizo and bread for nibbles, but from observing others dishes I can tell you that the food is good. The decor of the restaurant is very cozy and warm, Which I loved it. I will definitely come back for a full dining experience.

A group of us did a wine pairing with tapas and a selection of Portuguese wines. None of us in our party are that knowledgeable about this region so it was great to try something different and step outside our wine comfort zone. As for the food, each dish tasted as good as it looked and eating a number of smaller plates rather than starter, main, desert, makes it a much more sociable evening. Tony was the consumate host, explaining each dish as it was served. Friendly atmosphere, great food, fab wine, I can only give this 5 stars!

My experience at Tziganos was amazing, food was extraordinary from tapas to pastas and pizzas, my table was attended to when needed, after our meal we went to the terrace to continue our drinks which was nice, love the restaurant set up in general. Definitely recommend going.

We visited Tziganos for some nice tapas in Blackheath and I would say that it was very good, not excellent. The restaurant is comfortable and traditional looking. There is a good selection of dishes, we went for the prawns, potato bravas, lamb skewers, meatballs and ham. The lamb skewers were the highlight. The portion sizes were very good and we certainly didn’t leave hungry. I would recommend a visit.

Great food and reasonably priced. The draught beer wasn't very nice, would recommend a cocktail or wine.
