This is my favourite Japanese restaurant in London. The food is amazing. I highly recommend the volcano roll the sauce it comes in is a creamy yet savoury delight. The sashimi is always on point and the seaweed salad is great too. Make sure you book or come when they open, otherwise you’ll be standing in a line for more than an hour.

Traditional japanese restaurant where you can sit on the ground and enjoy sushi, ramen and bento box. Food quantity is great and service is fast. Food was okay, nothing special.

In my imagination these are the first words in a favourite song of mine…which I just made up. Somehow it doesn’t read as well as it sounds in my head. How about some nice pictures of über-stuffed bowls of Ramen-Soup? Yeah, I thought you would like that. I tried four times to get ramen at Dozo and there was always a queue. I don’t like queuing, so I normally leave and find a place without a queue. On this mild, rainy Saturday afternoon there wasn’t a queue … until I arrived. I actually started the queue for the day and they even turned on the heater for me. Awwww.  By the time I made it into the restaurant I was the only Westerner  eating there. Why do I mention this? I think it is important, as it that shows that they really know what they are doing.

Looking for the perfect place for a lunch date in Soho? I’ve got a great recommendation for you…It’s a little hidden gem on Old Compton Street and you easily miss it. But fortunately Japanese restaurant, Dozo and I had been following each other on Twitter for a while……and they were kind enough to invite me in along with Lauren from The Lifestyle Diaries. As I walked in, I was immediately taken with the intimate two storey venue. Though I was a little nervous at seeing the sunken dining table…maybe a mini dress and heels were a mistake? But fortunately upstairs were more normal tables so those wearing inappropriate attire can avoid losing their dignity…The interior isn’t super glam but it’s very likeable and there’s a feeling of authenticity about the place. The menu is vast but as sushi lovers it wasn’t too hard for us to pick a few favourites and we started off by ordering seared tuna tataki with apple dressing. The dish is always a favourite of mine as I love the tart flavour of the apple paired with the fish. Lauren, who hadn’t tried the combination before also loved it. We were actually celebrating her very exciting news but I won’t spoil her surprise and I’m sure she’ll tell you all about it over on her blog.Next we dove into a mixed sashimi salad with salmon, tuna and prawn, tobiko and delicious zesty citrus dressing. The dressing was slightly sweet and paired beautifully with the perfectly prepared raw fish.

I wasn't too keen on Dozo the first time my friends and I went. But life's all about taking chances and giving second chances so it was only apt to give this Japanese restaurant on Old Compton Street another try. I also wanted to figure out why it's much quieter than its competitor a few doors down the road (where the queues are seriously mind-boggling) considering Dozo has better looking interiors and quite frankly, better-mannered staff.

Dozo is probably one of my favourite Japanese restaurant in Soho.
The decoration is so original, especially the Japanese dining tables on the floor.
I always bring my friends and my family to this place, especially for lunch as they have a special deal (£6.90 for a ramen). Waiters are always very nice and professional.
I have tried all of their ramen...my favourite one is the Chilli Chicken Ramen, packed with a lot of flavours and chill !
Their bento boxes are also very big and good for £6.90.

I have been a lot of times at Dozo and I have never been disappointed.

Dozo is a high end Japanese restaurant situated in Soho London. Their menu offers a wide range of dishes from sushi to donburis. You will need to call the restaurant to book a table (up or downstairs) but the 2 times I've been it's never packed out so it's ok! Dozo are known for their creative maki rolls; flavours and fusions inspired by cuisines around the world (Spanish, Latin American, Mexican, Portuguese). The maki rolls are massive because of the extra fancy toppings, so be sure to open wide! The eel donburi rice dish was surprisingly tasty, very well glazed and presented. When coming here, definitely come here for the maki rolls! It is expensive but if you are a sushi lover, you would want to try Dozo and their fusions.

Dozo opened a new branch in the heart of Soho, this restaurant is I think my new favorite place to have japonese food in Soho, first reason is because the decoration and atmosphere is nice, relax and looks totally japonese, and second reason because they serve good food to eat in or take away. I always order Sake Oyako maki (salmon & avocado) and a bento box (chicken teriyaki served with vegetables, rice and a miso soup).  They have perfect offer for lunch £6.90 bento boxes.

My friend and I came here on the Valentine's Day so it's a bit busy. Though we had to queue outside for the table for around 15mins, we had heaters to keep us warm in this cold weather. We ordered the volcano maki which was absolutely delicious. There were eight pieces. The eel sauce and mayonnaise matched the sushi really well. I would recommend it. Also, we ordered the chirashi don and dozo seafood ramen. The sashimi in the chirashi don was really fresh. Yet, the dozo seafood ramen disappointed us a bit compare with the other dishes. We have expected more.
Overall, the staffs were good and the price was reasonable. We would come again, especially for the sushi rolls.

One of the best Japanese restaurants in London. I could not rave this restaurant enough, everytime I bring my family and friends to this place they always want to come back for more. With the numerous selection of sushi rolls as well as a number of hot and cold dishes, Dozo provides high quality authentic Japanese food with great variety. The two main dishes I would recommend is the Volcano roll with its delicious creamy sauce and the grilled aubergine glazed with miso sauce- to die for!

The service is also on par with the food, quick and friendly, can't complain. With the authentic Japanese food comes with the authentic theme of the restaurant as well. Clean and relaxing, definitely a great place to unwind with friends and family. I come here often and would continue to do so. Definitely a must try.

This restaurant is very decent and cozy. The design of restaurant is in old fashion japanese style, very grand and tradition. The food is very decent. Given the price is slightly higher than the one next to, it definitely worth the price. I hope to revisit again and I highly recommended this restaurant.

Standard Japanese lunch set for £10.90 and I really enjoyed the atmosphere of it. Have nothing to complain of the food with this price. The rice was excellent, very well cooked. Brilliant service and I had a nice time.

I’ve been here a few times now and my favourite is the Soft Shell Crab Harumaki 😍 it is DELICIOUS! The restaurant has a cute ambiance with low lighting and intimate seating plan. FYI— it can become pretty loud in the restaurant, so I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone who wants a “quiet” place to eat

Dozo is one of the best Japanese restaurants in London, offering a unique and exceptional dining experience. The restaurant boasts a diverse menu featuring authentic Japanese dishes such as sushi, sashimi, tempura, and more. The quality of the food is outstanding and the presentation is simply beautiful. In addition, the service is excellent, with friendly and attentive staff who are happy to help you with your dining choices. Whenever I'm craving a delicious donburi in London, Dozo is my go-to spot. Their weekday lunch deal is unbeatable! The fish they serve is incredibly fresh, and their Unagi Don is perfectly sauced and cooked. The rolls are also fantastic for sharing with friends. The staff is attentive and super friendly. Highly recommended! 🍣🍱✨

We were not originally planning to eat in Dozo since we were eyeing another restaurant. But since we were already famished and love Japanese food, we entered Dozo, and the staff welcomed us. We sat on their tatami seating, the staff were friendly, and the food was great! We ordered chicken ramen, seafood and beef. And 2 bento boxes were included in their weekday “happy hour” price (lucky us 😁) and we ordered steak tofu as well. The chicken ramen was delicious! It was one of those times were I could finish my ramen because it was delicious and did not have too much strong flavour. Their ramen was the perfect balance, from broth, noodles and chicken. Their bentos were also tasty! We also ordered their mochis, and they were good! Felt the stickiness, and the ice cream filling was also good! We enjoyed it.

This Japanese restaurant seems to be owned by Chinese or Hong Kong people. I myself am from Hong Kong and I found this like a Hong Kong run Japanese restaurant. The lunch set menu is great here. Only £9.9 for one dish. And there are various dishes you can choose from, from bento to sashimi. I ordered the sashimi platter from lunch menu, and eel rice. The sashimi is not particularly fresh by tasty for its price. It’s this comes with a small bowl of miso soup. I would highly recommend the eel rice Their portion is okay actually quite good for London and the fishes very tasty and the rice is very well done. The serving is very quick, very efficient. The staff is just making me feel like I’m back to Hong Kong. They’re not rude. They are just very fast and efficient. Other dishes on the menu also look very good. I will definitely come back and try again.

Visited this place with a group of friends after hearing good things about this place. It was good, and the place is very cool. They have the Japanese style seating, which adds to both the ambience and experience. We ordered a few dishes including the Cod Fin Don, Seafood Ramen, Gyu-Don, Ten-Don and the Chirashi Don. Nothing but praises to sing as to the taste and quality of the food. Only thing is that the amount of sashimi given in the Chirashi Don is quite sparse. I would have liked a lot more sashimi to go with the rice, and more toppings too including pickles and cucumber. Other than that, the experience was very enjoyable. We went on a Sunday lunch time, and still managed to get ourselves a seat without making any reservation in advance.

Many of my friends recommended Sozo so of course I had to check it out. The food was amazing, especially the unagi don. The layout of the restaurant is a bit strange, as they didn’t ask us to take off our shoes in the tatami table (which to me is a bit unhygienic for a Japanese restaurant).
